Oh oh... - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

Hello everybody. I solicit your help today to help me in Unbrick my Honor 7x (BND-L21). So, that's all I did (like a real monkey and I assume):
- Open the phone and shorts testpoints to do Unlock the bootloader: Check
- Installed a TWRP from hell that is not even specific to my phone, but that works just as much. (At the beginning that of the Mate 9, then the one who hangs on the other threads (0.3)) : Check
So far everything is fine is not it?
This is where it spoils. I installed the latest version which was on date of Android 11 GSI of Phusson (thank you friend! Super work! ❤)
It starts in 8s, (wow: o) except that... I have a Black Screen. I asked a friend to call me, my phone rings and posting, I hear the noise too when I turn on and off the screen, but I can not do anything more. Is. I tried with Havoc in 11 too, same result.
And that's after that I did my monkey. I wanted to do anything by removing and flashing more or less random partitions in order to purge them from the old system, it says that in this way would have solved the problem of the Black Screen.
I continue, I do not know what I deleted, but now as soon as I flash an image in img and not zip on the other hand, (which also worked at the beginning), I do not boot only on the recovery. So I tried since Fastboot to flash my boot partition with the boot.img of a UPDATE.APP of one of the versions of the ROM stock.
I receive a message Partition Lengh Error regardless of the FastBoot command used.
Fastboot Flash boot boot.img
Fastboot Flash: Raw boot boot.img
Fastboot Flash boot_ramdisk boot.img
And I even tried fastboot boot boot.img that did not work either.
What I would like suddenly it's either to give a stock ROM (very difficult thing to find on the Internet, even Firmware Finder to deleted all the Roma), either succeed once to install a GSI who was the goal. .
Sorry for the long pavement, and the potential fault, I used Google Translation.
All help is welcome and thank you for reading me!

You said you open your phone and connected the test points.
For that, you have to unconnect a few things, one of them is the cable for your devices display.
Did you reconnect every hardware cable?

In reality I went there like a nag without unplugging anything. I just shorted the testpoint with a paperclip and once my bootloader was unlocked, I just re-clipped the shell and screwed in the two screws on the left and right of the micro usb. I have no display problem, just no possibilities to boot on a flashed image.

Okay, so you installed a custom OS and it works except for the display staying black on two devices?

How did you remove these partitions? Using a stock/custom recovery, adb...? And how?
You said you don't know what you deleted, but do you know if it could have been system.img, boot.img or vendor.img and nothing else?
The custom OS LineageOS for example only flashes those 3 img files – if you deleted something else (another partition than one of those 3) then the update.zip cannot fix that.
So you would have to flash every partitions you erased in order to fix your device. Do you have a backup of those partitions, e.g. made with twrp?

Okay. So you flashed a zip before and that worked? And you also flashed an img which worked?
But if you do this now, it only boots to the recovery? Is it the "normal" recovery or is it a screen which shows a message like "Your data may be corrupted. If you continue to get this message you may have to perform a factory data reset" (this screen is known as `rescue party')?
What is the update.app file? Do you mean update.zip? Nope, you didn't. update.app is totally fine

Yes, I don't think that should work in generall... At least on my phone booting the boot.img does nothing.

If you need a stock rom you could try this: https://huaweistockrom.com/huawei-honor-7x-bnd-al10b.
You could also find a few more versions using the search. Here's the link: https://huaweistockrom.com/?s=honor+7x

1) It seemed to work, at least I was in the wizard setup. For the rest except the black screen suddenly I do not know if it worked well.
2) So, I have no problem flashing system and vendor in their respective partitions, only boot is not working and I think I know why. On the other hand, no I stupidly erased everything without saving, having told myself that it would be easy to go back to a stock rom without saving the additional partitions.
3) Then, yes at the very beginning I just flashed a zip (or an img) and it was booting on the brand new system. Then, I suddenly made my bad hacks which led me to the current problem. I only boot on TWRP or on the bootloader if I press vol down at startup, asking to boot from TWRP in the bootloader does not work / no longer
4) -
5) I have already downloaded the rom present on this site, moreover it's sad but there is only here that the stock roms are available.
So much for the answers to your questions. Now I have realized one thing is that I do not (to my knowledge) have a boot partition. I checked with adb shell, and no folder or mount point with cat / etc / mtd exists. Attached are 2 screens which show everything that the device contains
So I wonder if you can be in fastboot or not adb shell to create so barbaric a boot partition, and then assign it a mount point to then flashed him boot.img of which update.app made in passing 16 Mo

I believe you do have one. Can you send the output of
Code:
ls /dev/block/by-name/
please?

You mean manually created a boot partition? I think it could be possible, but I have no idea how to accomplish that. If you ask a question about it here on xda, please tag me, so I'll get notified.

I have nothing else :/

What about
Code:
ls /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/
?
You could also try to go to fastboot and do
Code:
fastboot getvar all
For example, my devices shows this:
(bootloader) partition-type:userdata:ext4
(bootloader) partition-size:userdata: 0xBB77F7E00
(bootloader) partition-type:vendor_b:raw
(bootloader) partition-size:vendor_b: 0x80000000

(bootloader) partition-size:vendor_a: 0x80000000
(bootloader) partition-type:system_b:ext4

This is only a part of the output you'll get.
If you could send your output of everything that has `partition' in it, that would be great.
Spoiler: If you want to see the full output of that command on my phone, click here.

I have succeeded! Don't ask me how I did it, I don't know! But read on, it might help you!
I was on the TWRP flashing yet another UPDATE.app mi in Zip when I was bored to wait for it to finish. (Just before I flashed VENDOR.IMG for the umpteenth time too.) So I forcibly turned off in TWRP. And there when it restarts ... I come across the original recovery which tells me that I (really) broke everything. He then tells me that we have to do a low level format, which I accept. It reboots several times, and then it offers me to download my Stock ROM from their servers! At the time of this writing, I am at 25% download. (Thank God, Huawei servers are still online! Because Firmware Finder is no longer working!) I'm happy!
Moral: Power off like a savage from TWRP your phone and pray to your lucky star!
You will see me again very soon here, the next step is to make a Nandroid then to try the GSI AOSP 10 from Phusson, then if it works its latest AOSP 11 (V304) now! And depending on the results I would see which version I would stay on!
Thank you @User699 for your help (even if you abandoned me since ! ) for the time spent!
Actually don't listen to me for my moral lesson, I REALLY DON'T know how I did !!!

I am sorry, I didn't meant to. Our internet wasn't working since the start of the week.
Glad it worked! I didn't knew Huaweis recovery offers that. I actually never hear of anything like that, so I learned something new today as well!

If you still can do it (if bootfail_info still exists), you can try to get more informations about it using
Code:
file bootfail_info
.
This should give you a description of what the file is (e.g. a text file, zip file etc.).
Also, you could try to cat it and read it:
Code:
cat bootfail_info
.

If you rooted your Pixel/Pixel XL (The reason people unlock the bootloader.). Why would you lock the bootloader? Locking the bootloader without returning the phone to Stock can result in a bricked phone. Consider yourself, extremely, lucky if you didn't brick it. Go to this thread Do #3 to Unlock bootloader: [Guide] Pixel XL Android 9.0 (Pie) Unlock/Root/Install Images/Kernels/Recovery + by Homeboy76 Then do #4 'keep data', and #8 to root or
side load the OTA if you do not want to unlock the bootloader or root.
The point is this locked bootloader seem to have no or missing library to support command
Anytime i flash file .img got notice

Have you tried flashing the factory images? You probably have to go into dev settings and re-enable the unlock bootloader option.
If you re-locked your bootloader with a modified system, cannot boot the device, and cannot unlock your bootloader in fastboot, then you have made a major mistake and it's unlikely that you can fix it.
I've now said this in quite a few posts. DON'T relock your bootloader. Ever. Ever ever.

Hard bricked Note 5 Pro without system partition

Hi,
I accidentally deleted the system partition on the phone using adb. Now I am not able to boot into recovery, or flash recovery, or even flash the fastboot rom, and I am stuck on the fastboot mode.
Can anyone help me flashing system partition, i.e. creating partition table on the phone using fastboot?
Thanks,
Amey

Hi,
I accidentally deleted the system partition on the phone using adb. Now I am not able to boot into recovery, or flash recovery, or even flash the fastboot rom, and I am stuck on the fastboot mode.
Can anyone help me flashing system partition, i.e. creating partition table on the phone using fastboot?
Thanks,
Amey

Extract the system image from the stock ROM and flash it through fastboot mode.

Hi, I cannot do that as I get an error "system partition not found" while flashing the system.img using fastboot.

How did you delete system partition? Using "fastboot erase system"?
Are you sure your bootloader is locked?

I was updating the partition table to increase the system partition size. During which the phone accidentally turned off and the system partition was gone..! I need to somehow correct the partition table using fastboot.

I guess you did take notes from the sizes to have how revert it and the tutorial that you followed also has a method in case you want return back like this https://iwf1.com/how-to-re-partitio...-all-options-included-change-size-fs-type-etc
I'm not sure if at least the boot partition keeps alive, in this case if you could use the Gparted file or either OrangeFox/TWRP has in-built a way to repair it.
Flash the custom recovery on the boot partition using
Code:
fastboot flash boot orangefox.img
and then just reboot, like in the boot is now the recovery your device will reboot to recovery theoretically.

Hi, thank you very much for your time. However I am not able to boot into TWRP/Orangefox.
Some of the commands I trie, and the results I got are as follows, that may help you understand the issue:
Code:

No, adb commands won't work as you can't boot to system.
You didn't try what I suggested, I didn't say to try to boot to OrangeFox but to flash it on the boot partition instead of on the recovery partition, I know it's unusual but don't care about, if the flash is successful then don't type any more command but reboot with button power, it has to make its first parade In the boot image where now is OrangeFox.
For the rest I'm not sure if the info from your device was hidden cause i didn't see a return of the device iD

It's not clear which command you tried here: "[email protected] Recoveries % fastboot flash boot Orangefox\ Recovery.img"
Firstly extract the OrangeFox recovery image from the zip, then rename it for example to just orange, you will have orange.img then type or copy/paste from here:
Code:
fastboot flash boot orange.img
and finally press the power button till device boots up.
adb commands DON'T work while in fastboot, adb commands only work when device is on, there is a variant to sideload/flash files that work on recovery mode.

Its the same command. Just that the name of the recovery file is "Orangefox Recovery.img"
The command I executed are:
Code:
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash boot OrangefoxRecovery.img
nothing worked.

Ok then I have to assume that you did for example: "fastboot flash boot OrangeFoxRecovery.img" and then rebooted but nothing. Try next with "fastboot reboot" instead of power button, just a note, name of images can't contain spaces.
Did you remember the site/thread that you were based on to repartition, maybe they provide a method to revert it.

Yup, I did the same. The recovery image file name doesn't contain any spaces or special characters.
I followed https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-32750.html this article. However, I did not find any info on how to revert the changes.

I did read what you wrote in the other thread: "fastboot flash boot OrangefoxRecovery.img
This command executes successfully, but after restarting the phone using fastboot boot OrangefoxRecovery.img or using the [power + volume up] button, the devices goes to the fastboot mode."
And just to be clear what I suggested to do is first flash the recovery image in the boot partition, at this point your command is ok
But then you tried "starting the phone using fastboot boot OrangefoxRecovery.img or using the [power + volume up] button"
And I suggested that after to flash the recovery image onto the boot partition you don't execute any command nor try to boot to recovery using vol up+pwr buttons BUT simply press ONLY power button (approximately 10 seconds) till your device try to boot to system, of course it can't boot to system but it is expecting that when it goes to the boot stage then it will find recovery image in the boot partition.
If this action correctly done (not like you were doing) doesn't result then you could consider the next:
I did read in the guide that is needed to temporarily erased the partitions that are between system and userdata and those are boot, recovery and something more then I guess in this process your device reboots inadvertently and get corrupted but you did format them so probably exists a method re-format them through fastboot at least the recovery and/or boot partition to get them working, if you can boot to recovery then probably you could repair the other partitions.
Try this

Bricked Pixel XL - Help!

My wifes Pixel XL bricked tonight. Out of the blue it started rebooting, while she was using it. It started up, but then froze shortly after entering into the OS.
I went into recovery mode and performed a factory reset, it started up normally but half way through the setup guide is froze again, and went into a bootloop. And that's where I'm at now.
I have performed two more factory resets, but it never even boots into the setup guide anymore. Just straight to bootloop. The vast majority of times I can't even get into recovery mode anymore, when I try to it just gets into the bootloop. If I leave it turned off for a while, sometimes I can get it into recovery mode though.
Fastboot works, but the bootloader is locked and usb debugging isn't activated (I assume) so I can't flash anything through there or unlock the bootloader.
Considering how it started, and that the bootloop returned like 5 minutes after the first factory reset, I assume there is hardware problems, right? But is there anything more I can do, if we suppose that it's just soft bricked somehow?
Same issue here, would love to see if we could put our heads together with some folks. I have been wrestling with a Google Pixel XL on and off since August that has been doing roughly the same thing. Pixel is the direct-from-Google version (NOT Verizon), bootloader is locked, OEM unlocking is not enabled.
- Began rebooting consistently
- Would boot into OS for a limited amount of time then freeze and reboot, or freeze on G logo w/ loading bar then reboot
- I had been systematically uninstalling apps and downloading data to "cross them off my checklist" (probably a dumb idea in hindsight, if storage is corrupted)
- sometimes being left alone would allow the device to boot, seemed to only work within certain range of battery charge, perhaps until it heated up a certain amount?
- Will consistently boot into bootloader w/ Vol Down button
- Used to be able to consistently boot into Recovery from bootloader, but now choosing Recovery Mode will load Google logo and begin bootlooping.
- On one instance that Recovery Mode successfully booted, attempted to update via ADB. ADB seemed to install the update to 94% in PowerShell, and showed "success = 0" or something similar, which I take to be a failure lol.
- Much functionally in fastboot other than showing devices, rebooting, and getvar seems to require the bootloader to be unlocked, which I cannot do without access to the OS.
Things I've tried:
- sideloading update via ADB (failed the one time I was able to get recovery to load)
- unlocking bootloader via fastboot (requires oem unlocking in OS, so not successful)
- changing a/b partition via fastboot (unlocked bootloader required)
Here's a dump of getvar, seems like maybe one of the partitions is shot:

Root after Android 11 Upgrade

I have the HD1907 variant.
My phone was rooted with Magisk on Android 10.
It automatically updated to Android 11, without any prompts. Now I am stuck without root. I tried gpz method to boot into twrp which has worked in the past with A10.
It stays stuck on the Fastboot Logo. Bootloader is still unlocked. Is there anyway to get the boot image so that I can patch it with Magisk? Does anyone have a patched one already for the HD1907 variant? I only found the global variant, not T-Mobile variant?
Here is the output of getvar all:

Is there anyway to fastboot boot twrp.img instead of flashing to recovery?
I used to be able to just boot an image without flashing. I am nervous flashing especially if I have no way to get stock rom for my model.

Thanks. I went ahead and did it. Magisk works fine. Edxposed shows active but the modules aren't actually working

Question No SIM connection after messing around with various ROM

Hi,
I bought a Oneplu 9 PRO on Ebay, at the end I found out it is a chinese version with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
I wanted to install a custom ROM, but ended up having some problems. After a few reset's I was able to install Pixel ROM, but the SM did not connect to the network. After a few tries flight modus offon, some reboots) it showed 5G connection and I got navigation on the browser OK; but for example background data connection of widget wasn't working ad at the end I found out I was not able at all to make a phone call.
I returned to a stock ROM downloaded from the forum here, but the same problem. I did download and go back to Android 11 but the same problem, now I'm not able to have my SIM connect to the ntwork at all, and when I turn off automatic network search I see only the three available 2G network from other providers here in Italy.
t must be some sort of problem with the baseband/modem.
Anyone has a suggestion on how I can flash a modem/baseband or similar to fix my problem? Or a way on clean up everything and install a Global ROM hoping that this will work?

I did that before with no luck, now I followed this guide here:
How to Downgrade OnePlus 9/Pro from Android 12 to Android 11
In this guide, we will show you the steps to downgrade your OnePlus 9/Pro device from Android 12 (OxygenOS 12) to Android 11 (OxygenOS 11).
www.droidwin.com
(Method 2)
and was able to flash version 22_O.05_210324
now the SM shows 4G connectivity, but I can not make and receive any phone call. Also the data connection is not working, although the APN is set and Mobile data is switched on. I resetted all the network connection in settings but with no luck....
Ayone has a suggestion? what else I can do or try?
after a reboot I can send messages and for some reason the navigation is working! but still no phone calls. I'll try now with a different SIM card and see if this will work. My SIM card is working for calls with another phone so the SIM card itself should be OK
even another SIM card is not working in the phone, it shows the operator name but it want connect to the network at all.

BTW: after a reboot the SIM my FASTWEB SM which worked before for a moment after sending an SMS is not working at all anymore... This is so strange,,,

Hi,
I bought a Oneplu 9 PRO on Ebay, at the end I found out it is a chinese version with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
I wanted to install a custom ROM, but ended up having some problems. After a few reset's I was able to install Pixel ROM, but the SM did not connect to the network. After a few tries flight modus offon, some reboots) it showed 5G connection and I got navigation on the browser OK; but for example background data connection of widget wasn't working ad at the end I found out I was not able at all to make a phone call.

thanks. This behviour is just so strange, I guess it must be something to do with the modem/baseband because it sees with all the SIM I tried so far always only the 2G networks, no other ones...
when I do a "fastboot getver all" I see this, and baseband and bootloader verson are empty..... is this not strange? someone can check if this is also empty for a working phone?

You have too use the china msm tool to get the cell phone fit again. But if I remember correctly, the China MSM Tool needs an account and password
