Recovering Messages from one plus 7t - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hey there. I had a OP7t and it was stolen. I have gotten the contacts when I got a new phone thru my T-Mobile insurance carrier. Now I’d like to get the massages. Can I download the one plus messages app from Google Play store and be able to signing somehow to access my original messages?

I am afraid without a backup of some kind you wont be able to get your messages back.
Did you have the Google backup setup for your old phone?
If so you can download the "Google One" app check try to restore a backup from there.

[Q] Google contacts sync problem

Not sure what to do about this so I figured I would try asking here. I have a samsung galaxy note 2 AT&T version. I have had this issue in the past with my Note 1. The issue is that when I have an existing google contact that has a new phone number or an extra phone number. I will erase the old number on my phone and add the new one. As soon as the sync finishes it will delete the new number I just added and put back the old number. Or if I add a number to the existing google contact it won't sync the new one but just keeps the old number. It makes me angry because I keep losing new numbers because it's erasing them and putting back the old number. All of my contacts are google contacts, they all have the G next to them in my phonebook and all of the contacts are in my contacts the default google group. The phone is stock and has not been rooted. Also I'm not using any apps for my phonebook. Any ideas? Thanks
Motorola Droid PRO
I am having the exact same problem as described above! Drives me crazy. One day I add a number, the next is gone.
New contacts get synced, they appear also in browser, but updating a contact on the phone is useless. Gets overwritten by the information on the server, the one I see in browser when I access Google contacts.
Motorola Droid Pro is my phone, running Android 2.3.4, fresh reset to factory settings, no root. Can someone please tell us what are we doing wrong?

Migrating to Mix2

I just got a Mix 2 and try to migrate my old phone (HTC) to it. When I add my existing Google Account as part of the initial setup, it didn't ask if I want to restore from my Google Backup. I do get the contacts from my Google account however. Then I found out the Mi Mover. I installed Mi Mover to my HTC phone and start the process. It seems to working property without any errors, all my calls and texts history are copied the Mix 2. Many apps are copied over as well. However, not ALL the apps are copied. Even the popular ones such as FaceBook or Instagram are NOT copied. Wall paper is also not copied. I would have to spend a lot of time to setup this phone the way I wanted. What would be better way to migrate over. I don't want root my phones so don't give me any suggestion involving that. TIA!

AT&T Moto G6 Play OTA Security Update lost contacts and problems with Google account

AT&T Moto G6 Play OTA Security Update lost contacts and problems with Google account
Totally stock, AT&T Moto G6 Play, no root, no unlock, no nothing. Got an OTA update that said it was a Security update. "February 1, 2019" I clicked later because I was at work and didn't want to have any issues with it. However, I forgot about it and it installed it overnight.
I was going to send my wife a text and saw that all my messages and txt contacts were gone, so I thought I'd call and all the contacts are gone. NP, I'll restore them from my Google drive backup.... Can't restore, "A problem occurred", I've deleted my google info from the phone and rebooted, then re-added it, still I can't get my google contacts or anything. WiFi calling won't set up, gmail app can't find contacts, etc. I can access them if I use the browser to do email, but nothing on the phone can see any of my google info. I try to restore contacts "Something went wrong", I go into my Google system and preferences, "Something went wrong" I try to do a security code, "There was a problem generating the security code"
I just want my phone back to normal... Any suggestions?
Thanks
honestly since you have att you cant unlock your bootloader and do root or anything but lucky for you that means your warranty is prolly still good so id just take it to att and swap it out or get it replaced under moto warranty
Thanks, I'm expecting an important call today, after that I was thinking of doing a factory reset, and if that doesn't work, the at&t store is only a few blocks away.

Just an FYI after the wife got back in town I tried the factory reset and all seems well now. All contacts, messages, and call log successfully restored from backup, and wifi calling now works.

Cool. Good news bro
Should have tried that first. As long as backup is selected, it's in your Google account.

HELP!! Is it possible to recover text messages after factory reset on a Galaxy S9??

Hello!
I was referred here by my roommate and I am hoping that there is something that can be done to recovery these text messages.
Long story short:
My brother is going through a divorce. She's a nutcase. She was able to obtain access to his Gmail account, change all recovery options, and remotely reset the phone. A judge has ordered her to provide the password and she has yet to comply, so we are assuming that she wiped anything that was backed up to the Gmail account. She has made some very specific accusations (which are false), and these text messages would prove that. The text messages were recent and were not deleted when the phone was reset. He did try to log back into his Gmail account when it reset, but when he was unsuccessful he shut the phone off and now has a new phone.
I've spent a few hours reading through threads and Google searching. I'm no developer, so admittedly, some of it goes over my head. I've not found anything thus far that seems like it would work, but most of the situations involve things that were deleted prior to the phone resetting (I'm not sure if that would make a difference). Is there something, anything, that we can try to get these text messages back? I've not tried anything thus far in fear of doing something that would ruin a chance of recovering them.
I appreciate any help at all!!
The carrier might send them to you, but not from the phone as it was encrypted
i will make a post for you on how to reovery text messages... tomorrow my friend. But you need to buy a sim card reader. I will upload the application to recover text messages and more info from you phone number.

Where's the app to transfer data?

I just got my Mi 10 t pro after buying it in the singles day sales. I can't for the life of me find the app that I would use to transfer data (contacts, sms, photos at a push). I'm upgrading from an HTC U11. Googling for an answer suggests MiMover which isn't on the Xiaomi and can't be found in the Play store (from UK). ShareMe on the Mi 10 t pro has a "Mi Mover" icon inside it, but when I install Xiaomi ShareMe on the HTC, the MiMover icon isn't there.
Google backup doesn't work for me on the HTC (it shows "waiting to backup" which is possibly because the phone is encrypted).
Exporting my contacts on the HTC gave me a vef file which the Xiaomi doesn't recognise. Exporting my sms gave me an .hbk file which the xiaomi doesn't recognise.
Any clues / pointers would be welcome.
Thanks, PT
Answering my own question here:
The .vef file exported from my HTC is an encrypted vcf file. I was able to re-export this as a vcf and trasfer the file to the Xiaomi separately.
I then used SMS backup and recover to tranfer across sms and call logs.
I'm still shocked that I couldn't find / figure out the Xiaomi app to get this job done.
PT
Google backup does a really good job, most of the time. So there's really no need for a separate app. I don't know why your u11 didn't backup, but encryption isn't it, because 99% of phones today have encryption in system itself...
Sorry for the delayed reply. If you want to back up data on your Android phone to the computer easily, my suggestion is Coolmuster Android Backup Manager. Its free backup function can help us back up data like contacts, text messages, call logs, videos, music, photos, apps, ebooks from your Android phone to the computer via USB cable connecting easily. If you still has such problem, please try it. And hope it will work well on your phone.
