I just got my Mi 10 t pro after buying it in the singles day sales. I can't for the life of me find the app that I would use to transfer data (contacts, sms, photos at a push). I'm upgrading from an HTC U11. Googling for an answer suggests MiMover which isn't on the Xiaomi and can't be found in the Play store (from UK). ShareMe on the Mi 10 t pro has a "Mi Mover" icon inside it, but when I install Xiaomi ShareMe on the HTC, the MiMover icon isn't there.
Google backup doesn't work for me on the HTC (it shows "waiting to backup" which is possibly because the phone is encrypted).
Exporting my contacts on the HTC gave me a vef file which the Xiaomi doesn't recognise. Exporting my sms gave me an .hbk file which the xiaomi doesn't recognise.
Any clues / pointers would be welcome.
Thanks, PT
Answering my own question here:
The .vef file exported from my HTC is an encrypted vcf file. I was able to re-export this as a vcf and trasfer the file to the Xiaomi separately.
I then used SMS backup and recover to tranfer across sms and call logs.
I'm still shocked that I couldn't find / figure out the Xiaomi app to get this job done.
PT
Google backup does a really good job, most of the time. So there's really no need for a separate app. I don't know why your u11 didn't backup, but encryption isn't it, because 99% of phones today have encryption in system itself...
Sorry for the delayed reply. If you want to back up data on your Android phone to the computer easily, my suggestion is Coolmuster Android Backup Manager. Its free backup function can help us back up data like contacts, text messages, call logs, videos, music, photos, apps, ebooks from your Android phone to the computer via USB cable connecting easily. If you still has such problem, please try it. And hope it will work well on your phone.

So when I swapped from a Moto G to a Moto X, I used the Motorola Migrate app to get it to copy all my music, video, call logs, etc over to the Moto X.
Does a tool exist for the N5X to copy this stuff from the Moto X to the N5X? If I just plug them into a laptop with USB I guess I can just copy them over using the file manager. What are my options?
I believe the setup wizard will ask you if you are coming from another Android device. If you have NFC you bump the phones together and it will transfer everything over. I'm not sure if this works to transfer files, but it does transfer apps and even your background.
Yep, have been there, that method does do what you say about apps, they get copied over, but media and call logs do not get copied over. I am assuming the Motorola Migrate will support Android M once the updates for the Moto X to Android M come out.
Yep, looks like we will have to manually migrate media, call logs, texts etc.
Anyone got a good way to transfer the call logs/texts?

I have used:
SMS Backup & Restore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
Call Logs Backup & Restore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.CallLogBackupRestore
both By Ritesh Sahu
I have used them many times and they have worked flawlessly.
Since I won't have root on my 5X I'm also going to be trying out:
Helium - App Sync and Backup
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
by ClockworkMod
I ended up using EasyBackup to transfer, contacts, SMS, call logs. Worked well and was simple to use. Having to wait now for suitable USB cables before I make the file transfers for music and pictures, thought about one of those Wifi File transfer apps. The built in FileManager does have a Nearby Share feature, you have to touch the screens together to initiate the process and click a few buttons which you can see when you have the screens facing each other. Very odd.
Still in Appleland here. Am I out of luck?

Sync your iPhone contacts with Google then when you sign into the 5X it should show up just fine.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S5.
I found great mileage with MyBackup Pro (paid for Pro 3 years ago or so...) - I essentially created 2 backups (one for apps and media, the other one for data)...moved the two zip files to my nexus 5x and restored them...as good as new...made sure to do everything in airplane mode...also the app has a migrate feature which works well too.
Does anybody else have this problem or have a solution for disappearing phone contacts. I have the Le 1 Pro US with the original 11s rom. I start out with over 50 phone contacts, but soon it dwindles down to 6 or 7. I've read about this problem with other phones, such as Samsung. So, I think it might be a bug with the Android operating system. It's a good thing I have a backup vcf file, so it's easy to restore my contacts. But, it's an annoyance if I have to make a quick call.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Search XDA forum for letv 1 pro us stock ROM ... Update your phone as per instructions in comments......It will sort out problem.....Also make sure you are storing contacts on Google and not phone.....This can be done in settings....Lastly also install another contacts app from playstore....So many are available now
I think I solved the problem. After you've restored your contacts, go to Settings>Account Management>Google>your Google account>Contacts>turn off sync. After doing this my contact list is stable for a few days now.
Hey fellow Honor 8 pro users
I have observed that honor 8 pro has Hi cloud but is only limited to contacts and call log. Is it same for you all or is there a work around to backup more items like apps, home screen state etc.
I once happened to stumble upon a more elaborate hicloud, could select more items but it was painfully slow and my ISP had to do some maintenance same day and it kind of got failed (after spending whole morning and noon backing up fhe data)
I cannot find that option again, it allowed me to back up contacts, call log, apps and app data, homescreen state and photos (except for the camera forder perhaps due to the large size of the pics... idk why the omission)
All I can find now is a message that says this isn't enabled for your region.
I like inhouse cloud apps because it automates the restoration after a flash or factory reset. Convenient and no need to bother about forgetting an item or two during backups because it is a one time check. And the phone returns to earlier state with all your customizations.
Note I want to collect as many responses as possible and forward this to Huawei so they can implement a full fledged cloud backup in India. So please be vocal.
PS : This is only regarding 'HiCloud', yes there are third party apps but I like inhouse cloud backup like icloud, Xiaomi's mi cloud etc. So please do not start with who uses that anymore when there are this and that.
Thank You.
I just got a Mix 2 and try to migrate my old phone (HTC) to it. When I add my existing Google Account as part of the initial setup, it didn't ask if I want to restore from my Google Backup. I do get the contacts from my Google account however. Then I found out the Mi Mover. I installed Mi Mover to my HTC phone and start the process. It seems to working property without any errors, all my calls and texts history are copied the Mix 2. Many apps are copied over as well. However, not ALL the apps are copied. Even the popular ones such as FaceBook or Instagram are NOT copied. Wall paper is also not copied. I would have to spend a lot of time to setup this phone the way I wanted. What would be better way to migrate over. I don't want root my phones so don't give me any suggestion involving that. TIA!
Hey all, I'm very new to this, so please be nice.
I recently decided to break up with Apple, and I bought the LG WIng. Using Google Drive, I've been able to move contacts, pictures, etc. from my iPhone X to my new LG Wing. The problem I'm having is that I cannot transfer message history.
To add a lyaer of complexity, I do not have a computer. There are instruction on how to transfer messages using computer software, even iTunes, but I have access to none of this.
I read about an app called LG Mobile Switch, which can supposedly transfer messages with a cable. However, this app does not seem to be available in Apple's App Store.
Curious to know if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to overcome it.
Thanks

Not sure from an iPhone. I just used SMS backup but I was going from Android to Android. And it worked just fine.

Sorry for the delayed reply. To transfer text messages from iPhone X to LG wing, maybe you can try phone transfer tool like Coolmuster Mobile Transfer, MobileTrans, Easeus Mobimover, etc. Such tool can help us transfer text messages and other data like contacts, books(pdf&epub),music, videos, photos from iPhone to Android phone. Usually, they are not free. You need to pay for the full version. About the details, please search online. Hope this will be your help.
