Hello, I would like your help with my problem, I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note5, I was using it normally, I put it on the sofa and 10min later I see that thescreen is black and the buttons are not responding. So I decide to press the power button and the Mi logo appears, except that it ends there. The phone no longer boots on Android.
What I want above all is to recover my data, mainly my photos. (No I haven't activated the google cloud, I checked and there is nothing)
I think the problem is related to the storage of the phone which has saturated, for 2 3 days I had a message that there was less than 1.5G of storage left. My guess is that the storage has reached 100% and so the phone is bricked .. But that's just a guess.
I've read a lot to find a solution, but I don't have developer mode enabled or OEM unlock. I managed to use the fastboot mode and display the line with the phone id through the command: fastboot devices
On the other hand it is locked so impossible to use ADB, to my knowledge.
The recovery mode (volume up + power) does not seem to work, because nothing is happening.
I tried to load TWRP:
C:\adbfastboot flash recovery "twrp.img"
targetreported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending'recovery' (42456 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.102s]
writing'recovery'...
FAILED(remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State)
I tried to unlock OEM :
C:\adbfastbootoem unlock
FAILED remote:Token Verify Failed, Reboot the device)
I also thought about emptying the cache in case it is the storage problem:
C:\adbfastbooterase cache
********Did you mean to fastboot format this ext4 partition?
erasing'cache'...
FAILED(remote: Erase is not allowed in Lock State)
Others infos:
C:\adbfastbootoem device-info
(bootloader)Verity mode: true
(bootloader)Device unlocked: false
(bootloader)Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader)Charger screen enabled: false
I saw that there is an EDL technique by creating a contact (test point) in the phone, and I am ready to try that, I have already removed the back cover, but I did not find any info on how to use it to retrieve my data, only for fashing and wiping all the config… but that's really not what I want. If you know a technique allowing me to recover my data, I'd be glad.
Thanks for your help

today I found my phone stock on decryption screen! I did not enable encryption mode. now my phone says: your phone is encrypted. to decrypt your phone, enter your Screen lock password.
it does not matter what number I enter! every number I enter, it says: Decryption unsuccessful. the password you entered is correct, but unfortunately, your data is corrupt. to resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account.
But nothing happened when I press the "reset phone" button. I waited 4 hours but it remains on a window named "Factory data reset, Rebooting..." but it can not proceed to reboot.
when I power off and go to bootloader, I can not go to recovery mode. on recovery mode, there is only a triangle with a red exclamation mark.
I download a stock ROM so I can flash it to my phone from download mode, but at the beginning of flashing process it comes with this error

This problem has been posted from time to time by other users - it often indicates a corrupt chip in the motherboard.
Depending on your SKU and whether or not there really is a hardware issue or not, it may be possible to apply a RUU, which would effectively restore your phone to factory state (though it will wipe your internal memory).
Please post your OS version, which will help us determine your phone's SKU.
If you put the phone in download mode and plug it into a pc then run fastboot.exe with the cli command 'fastboot getvar all' you will get a lot of important information.
If you are absolutely sure your phone has never been modified and it shows on the fastboot output "status modified" then you can assume your phone has hardbricked from a faulty nand. Only HTC can fix it in the case.

I took my m9 to HTC service center. he said that main chip must be replaced. after replacing the chip, he said that I need a dump.bin file and I do not have it. now after 3 months, my dear m9 is still on the service center . I search all over the net for the dump.bin file but there is nothing at all.
I do not even know what the hell is the dump.bin file. he said that your phone can boot but it will not have antenna without relevant dump file. I'm confused please help me
my phone model ID: 0PJA100
Did you give your phone to an official HTC service center? HTC should have the needed file so the fact that you should provide it to the service center confuses me a bit.
It's impossible to get that file (from a working phone) without a JTAG device and I doubt that many M9 owners have one since they're quite expensive. Sorry for the bad news.
This might sound stupid. Being fan of Mi device, I had bought Mi6 from a second hand market after loosing one in CAB.
The guy was using it and did factory reset in front of me. Since i did not had the option to test the device completely; took the device happily and installed China developer ROM and observed i'm not able to turn on Wi-Fi. Flashed all type of developer and Beta ROM. Including my failed efforts to flash persist.img file.
I have a partially working device with no option to turn on Wi-Fi. and not able to .
Any pointers, please help

Sounds like your bootloader is still locked. Use mobile data to bind the accounts etc etc (idk if you'll need to find that guy again to remove his old account if it was on there and you can explain the problem) and then go through the unlock process.
Use the xiaomi fastboot flash tool and flash a full dev or stable ROM and boot it up. If it works you'll know right away if you can enable WiFi or not

Bootloader is very well unlocked. The seller factory reset was done in front of me. I'm able to log in via My MiAccount anyway and sync all items with mobile data and not WiFi. As stated earlier I have installed full rom via Mi PC Flash Tool quite a lot of time to see if it works this time.
Any pointers to help fix this issue please, I can't even use hotspot.. don't know what else is not working
if you can flash other roms, and they worked, then probably your wifi is broken. should open to check if the socket is loose
Hi i have bootloop problems on this device. When i do factory reset in recovery mode samsunf logo blinks as it wants to start system but it restarts. Then second time samsung logo doesnt even finish until i do factory reset then logo blinks again and restarts after some time.
The code is (reboot recovery cause is check_boot_mode recoverybootmodewithkey)
Block based ota
Ive tried to flash device multiple times with different stock roms with same results.
If i flash with oreo its the same error code but with addition when doing fastory reser something about some cache in first deletion and a number 0
In pie that code is not present which i assume that device is ment for pie. Both frp and oem are locked.
When i flash combination file its rpmb provisioned and rpmb fused 1. In z3x box there is no option to fix that. And that is strange because as i remember while i was doing repair on samsung s8 it was easy. Factory binary was there but not on this budget model which is strange. I even tried to force error so it triggers emergency recovery mode for smart switch but smart switch is just aweful. I dont even get recognition in that program. It shows as unsuppported model. I reinstalled drivers as well it just doesnt work. Now i would be glad and it would be awesome to get into fastboot mode just so i write down commands. Adb sideload doesnt have those options. Since i understood adb and fastboot for me its number one solution for everything. But how the hell am i supposed to get into fastboot on this model. Im pretty sure block based ota is sign that its blocked becuase of oem unlock aka locked bootloader. Its a friends phone and i tell people dont do stuff if you dot know ehat you are doing. But even locked bootloaders and frp locked are fixable. Especially with multiple brains on XDA and GSMforums.
Does anybody have any solutuon to this problem because this is some kind of new security method which was not present on like 2 years before.
P. S Is there any combination out there made out of Pie?
I fixed the issue. Front camera was defected. Some type of short circuit. Main camera auto focus mechanism also defected. It works allright as soon you detach all cameras. The only problem which i have with this device is that Samsung is using same concept as HTC. One camera defected all cameras not working. This is new from Samsung because in past when one camera brakes camera app still works. Autofocus mechanism can break with fall of the phone. Its not an software issue!!!
i have a similar problem do find solution?
I recently tried to install a custom ROM in my samsung j6+ but halfway through it my PC turned off.
Then the problem starts i decided to reboot my phone but it shows this error "No command" " #Reboot recovery cause is [[check_bootmode]RebootRecoveryWithKey]#
Block-based OTA
Supported API: 3
# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
E:Failed to mount / cache: Invalid argument
The error message keeps appearing for just a fraction of a second then disappear and appear again
I tried to go to recovery mode but no luck i cant get to it
I drained the battery to turn off the device then go download mode but after get to it, it also keep restarting
help me please. thank you
Hi, i'm a user from France.
After installing the last Android version proposed by Mi on the 7th of June 2019 my phone is now stucked on the black screen with the red mention " this miui version can't be installed on this device " - I made the choice to wipe all the data - after restarting nothing changed and I'm stucked to the same black screen.
First big loss. I didn't do any thing solo, I've just being installing the official update proposed by the company like I always do when notification comes. I don't do extra stuff that I have no knowledge about, I'm a regular user.
Now I'm trying to wipe the data through my computer using XiaomiFlash, however I'm getting this error alert : Flash antirbpass error.
What does it mean ? I have read about Google protection briefly on the internet but now it's getting really complicated for me to swim in these waters,
none of the solution worked for me, from the ADB thing to the CMD thing - I also downloaded a "dummy" file which I don't know how to use. After installing ADB I don't get any file of that name in my ":c" repertory and when typing the command "fastboot etc" in CMD it says that it's not recognized. I don't know what I'm doing and I don't know what to do, I don't have a car to get to the nearest phone repair shop and it's like i'm in an alien world with all the technical vocabulary in front of me when search the solution online.
All help would be really appreciated for an ignorant beginner like me.
1.Connect phone to PC, backup important data.
2.Reboot phone to bootloader(fastboot,Power+Volume Down).
Goto PC CMD
fastboot flash antirbpass dummy.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-whyred.img
3.Reboot to TWRP (Power+Volume UP).
Wipe DalvikCache, Cache, Data, Internalstorage, System, Vendor.
Install miui_HMNote5Global_V10.3.1.0.PEIMIXM_d4d2c9f2aa_9.0.zip.
Wipe Cache, Data and do Factory reset.
4.Reboot to system.
Just try abovementioned steps, good luck!
Thanks garyemail for your help.
I'm halfway done with this problem, but another thing came on the way which is :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-whyred.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (38924 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.937s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State)
finished. total time: 0.942s
Apparently my phone is locked after being checked :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem device-info
...
(bootloader) Verity mode: true
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
OKAY [ 0.012s]

I know there is no way for unlocking it through "official" method by using whatever Xiaomi is throwing away, do you have a particular way to get that unlocked ?
I know Xiaomi and Google would scream out of hysteria by reading this post but I'm not trying to unlock my phone for the pure sake of adrenaline.
They putted out that Android Update, not me. It didn't work. Rather it blocked my phone.
Now that the only way to solve the problem is to unlock the phone, what do you know, they decide to put a lock on the phone that basically doesn't allow the user to officially and directly restore the phone.
What is wrong with these people ? Are we just supposed to throw the phone away and buy a new one whenever they are making an uncorrect move resulting in a broken phone ?
I learned now what I'm paying when adding a high price difference for an iPhone, I'm paying for avoiding all that torture which Google and Xiaomi together are dragging me into.
Buy a 1€ phone and spend 1000€ worth of time in searching the remedee in case of a problem. -> Android logic -> money saved at first look, whatever happen you are entirely on your own. A small rock hiding a mountain.
Buy a 1000€ phone and spend 1€ worth of time in searching for the remedee to the sickness. -> Apple logic -> expensive at first look, but client satisfaction guaranteed - time and energy saved.
First of all, you bought a non official phone, that mean you bought your phone out of your region. May your phone is from china and it supposed using china rom. But your phone a china version and using global rom but that not wrong, when that happen unlocked bloatloader is needed. the only problem is, when the global version installed, you or the guy that sold the phone to you, lock the boatloader so it seems look like a global phone version but actually its the china one and that forbidden by xiaomi itself, and they have announced a year ago on the miui forum. The only one solution is to unlock the bloatloader ones again. I hope you understand what i wrote and sorry for bad english

Hey thanks Wiguna for your help, greatly appreciated. I'm facing now a new and big problem. The "unlock" button on the Mi Flash Unlock is greyed, apparently it's because my phone being locked, but the only way to unlock my phone is through Mi Unlock and they are blocking me the access to unlock my phone. Do you have any way to unlock the phone through a non-xiaomi way ?
I don't know why they would prevent their users for unlocking their phone, is it this illegal ?

There is no "non-xiaomi way" you have to flash the chinese official rom with miflash and then unlock your phone, thats the only way.
btw you can try the "EDL-Method".
Thanks Gerr1 and thanks anyone else who helped. Really appreciated.

Please help
I am following this guide
gearallnews.___/how-to-install-lineage-os-17-on-umidigi-a5-pro/ (sorry for the circumvent. felt it was important for the pros to check the source)
since I have a newer phone (at the time of this writing) Android 9.
but regardless of the above site or any instructions regarding "adb" and "fastboot" it always takes me to the black screen with tiny print at the bottom that says "fastboot mode.." and thats it. If I just do Vo+Pow it will take me to a menu from clearing cash to rebooting the system and factory reset. Can even boot to bootloader, but it gives me the same black screen with those tiny words at the lower left of the screen, everything else is blank.
I have to use the power button to shut off, then again to reboot to normal.
when I type fastboot devices, nothing,
adv devices (before the boot) will show the correct phone
All the other UMIDIGI AS5 PRO tutorials seem to work fine.
This is a dual sim, unlocked phone.
Any suggestions?
OK fixed all the issues (a5 pro driver missing, FIXED, mtk67xx installed)
(thought) I installed TWRP but when booting to bootloader, all it says is "fastboot mode..." and the screen in blank
So tried a different method, by rooting this from scratch, so first thing was to make a scatterfile.txt
Powered up the MTK DROID ROOT & TOOLS and got the following message (of course because of this, cannot use the ROOT button successfully)
Code:
--->>> Connect to device <<<---
--- ERROR : --- TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!
--- Unknown ROM structure, backup NOT possible!
ATTENTION! File /system/recovery-from-boot.p which restore factory recovery in case of phone switching on in a normal mode Is Found!
"/data/local/tmp/pwn": error: Android 5.0 and later only support position-independent executables (-fPIE).
ATTENTION! Requests for confirmation on the device screen are possible!
What to I have to fix/clean up?
Thanks for any suggestions
EDIT: Yes the phone is still working fine, (other than th emessage the phone is not safe because the booloader is not locked)
