Does anyone know how to hide the Status bar and display everything under the camera hole like this.
As on S8/S9, Note8/Note9 just needs to use the command: settings put global policy_control immersive.status=* is done
But for models with this android camera hole when using the above command, the screen containing the hole camera will be a black strip.

You can use System UI Tuner on the play store to get rid of the status and navigation bars on whichever apps you want. Just need to do a couple of adb commands to make it work.

Guess I never noticed it as I use dark mode and a black wall paper.
Enabling full screen app support for the particular app in settings>display has gotten rid of the black bars for me
You can use Nova Launcher to hide Statusbar.
Use Fine lock, Install Quick star module
in quick star model is no choice to hide statusbar
Do you know the Nova Launcher? Search in Google Playstore. With Nova Launcher you can also hide Statusbar via Gesture.
Good Lock. QUICKSTAR still works.
Hide clock first then turn off every icon like wifi and data.
Samsung's GoodLock NavStar module will show/hide the status bar.
This is what I did and it works.
1. System tuner ui to hide status bar.
2. Enable full screen app support in settings>display
3. I want to give credit to whoever figured this out, but don't remember. Get goodlock and install multi-star. Scroll all the way to the bottom of multi-star and select (the app size stretch to camera hole). Set the app to overlap the camera area.
That's it. No more status bar and it will look like the target picture. All apps.

It didn't work for me. It pushed everything up and cut the top off.

Has anyone found a way to completely disable the navigation bar so that it does NOT appear when you swipe up from bottom? (with root)
Some time ago with Nougat it was possible to add a line to build.prop but this does no longer work with the S9 and Oreo....
The best way for me so far
I tried almost all app to remove and replace the navigation bar for my Samsung S9 but all of them facing serval crop screen and app UI issue. For example Samsung Internet new tabs alignment, Crop grey backgound when windows popping up (I will attache screenshot below.)
And now I think I found the best way so far to fix all these issue
- "Oneplus Gestures" is best one for me for the alternative app to replace the navigation bar because not like others, the pill of this app is always at the bottom (not shift) and it work on overlays app (ex: FB messenger)
- "Hide Nav Bar" is the app that I choose to remove the native nav bar but for now it has some issue which cropping some app and I have solution for that. You have to enable global immersive mode then exclude the apps that cropped. So far I found these apps need to exclude: Smart Capture, Edge Widget, Instagram, Gallery. By filter immersive mode for these app you could use "Immersive Mode Manager" app or just write this adb command
Code:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.samsung.android.app.smartcapture,-com.samsung.android.app.widgetedge,-com.instagram.android,-com.sec.android.gallery3d
- Not finish yet, the fix other UI issue (Samsung Internet, Gallery) you need to use "Routines" app belong to Good Lock 2018 app to use Samsung Hide Nav Bar for Samsung Internet and Gallery app.
Then enjoy your edge to edge screen with gesture navigation. This work around fix all my issue when remove and replace navigation bar on my S9. If you find other issue feel free to discuss.

My navigation bar have been completely disabled and replaced by gestures and I'm happy
Hi. I'm using "gestures" control instead of navigation bar and I really like it. But default launcher is not ready to work without navbar and it leaves blank space under bottom icon row.
Is there any way to put this icon row lower and closer to the screen edge? Because currently it just looks wrong.

It supposed to hide nav bar. Which is not needed in my case.
This is just a launcher issue - it leaves the gap for nav bar even though nav bar is disabled and I use gesture control. I think it's a bit outdated and not ready for Android P and its features.

I know.
I use this when Nova Launcher got the same issue like yours.
and work perfectly. (I've created toggle via Tasker by the way)

another thing is, did you try to force close OP launcher or reboot to see if it resolve?

ran out of idea now.
since I use Nova Launcher. Maybe launcher bug.
Try update OPLauncher?
Requirements: Magisk root.
Download and install the "None Display Cutout" in the Magisk managers module repo.
It will add an option in developer settings display cutout options, "No Display Cutout".
Choose it, and apps, including netflix, will work in full 21:9 screen while in landscape.
No more annoying display cutout on the punch hole side.

I recommend G-Visual Mod.
It has a couple more features but importantly, it can hide the cutout in every app. I tried the module that OP recommended, and it doesn't quite scale the notification bar properly, it's a bit short, but the G-Visual module retains the status bar height. I worked for me on Android 9 and also Android 10. It works exactly the same way, you find a "notch killer" option in the dev settings.
Hey, OP, can you link me to the screen protector that you use? I'm interested.
Working like a charm on android12, oneplus 9r. Thank you!
I am running (stock rooted A11) OnePlus 7T Pro - a gorgeous full-device screen with no notch whatsoever. But ever since Android 11, it is unable to completely ditch status bar at the top.
At best, I am able to hide the "contents of the status bar" with G-Visual Mod, by setting the status bar height to 0. BUT the "bar" itself is still present in all apps at the top, even when there is no content drawn in it. And I really really want my apps to utilize the whole screen, both in landscape and in portrait (browser still has the ugly bar at the top, no matter what I do, same for all other apps).
I noticed, that when changing the option under
Settings -> Developer -> Display Cutout
The status bar (and the reserved space around it) actually does change and move up/down for various options. The "Waterfall Cutout" makes the bar significantly narrower, and apps are properly respecting it (= being drawn a bit higher) too.
I believe this mod works in the same way? Could this mod be altered in such a way to fully hide that bar? Squishing it to be bully invisible, or pushing it out of the screen?
Is there any way to hide the status bar icons? Specially the clock and battery indicator so we can avoid burn ins? Had burn-in issue on my mi 9t pro so Im not gonna take any chances...
I was easily able to hide the icons on my rog phone 2 but it seems that miui is blocking that method(having all these features, it's such a shame it still doesnt have the ability to hide status bar icons!)
Does anyone have any other way to do this?

You can grant the necessary permissions with either Root or ADB.

The clock, yes I think so. But I don't know about Battery, I'm not able to check it right now
Maybe not the answer you want to hear
I use HavocOS - there you can hide all status bar icons. I do it so, but only because I don't want to disturb my home screen with these icons
For the battery status I use a thin line on the top of the screen (it's a feature of Havoc), which changes the length and the color depending on the battery level... you can choose color #1 (fully charged) and color #2 (empty). I picked 2 colors (black for #1 and gray for #2), so that this line only appears when the battery is at about 30 %. Really nice

I gave it a try it's able to remove left hand stuff and some of right hand stuff.
Still I'd like to have something that whould hide my status bar and show it on slide like it used to be in older phones.
Anyways still better then nothing.

MIUI doesn't support Fullscreen Gestures on any Third-Party Launchers.
Don't bother, you re gonna swith to another phone anyway before it gets burn in. Or you can always replace the screen under warranty since burn in is coverer by xiaomi.

Really shame that MIUI doesn't allow to hide status bar.
G'day everyone, just wanted to share a way to get awesome multitasking to get a nicer experience as a "tablet".
There's an app in the Galaxy store called GoodLock.
In the app is a heap of outstanding customisation tools you'll love. One particular one is called NavStar. It replaces the taskbar at the bottom on your screen with a "Task Stack". It's essentially a long list of all your currently running apps and interaction works the same way as the default taskbar... drag and drop an app from the Task Stack to the screen.
Instead of having only 8 apps in the default taskbar, the NavStar Task Stack shows all running apps, much like a desktop computer, for a much better multitasking experience.
On the inside screen, the task stack is shown next to the nav buttons. It disappears on the cover screen and only shows the nav buttons. Then checkout the GoodLock app called HomeUp... you can customise the entire multitasking interface (I have recent apps shown in a grid).
The only downsides are you can't use nav gestures with the task stack, and there's a bug the dev needs to sort out where when you rotate the screen, the stack disappears and you have to swipe the notification centre down to show the stack again. If youre using the cover screen then unfold it, it also disappears. I have a fix for it further below.
Now there are 2 tweaks for the task stack I've sorted out. One unfortunately requires root.
The first one is to get a tablet UI. It requires rooting and installing the Magisk module MagiskHide Props Config. Using this module, you need to change the build prop "ro.build.characteristics" value from "phone" to "tablet.
This gives you the date in the statusbar, a nicer/different notification centre and probably a couple over things I haven't noticed yet.
When done, it also gives you the task stack on the cover screen... that's the biggest reason I'd say to do this mod if you root.
If you set the nav buttons on the left hand side of the screen, you will get all 3 buttons and a couple apps in the stack on the cover screen. If you set the buttons on the right, the cover screen stack will show a lot more apps but the only nav button that will show is the back button on right hand side.
To get around this (if you want your buttons on the right), I have an app called Gesture Control. This way, I can have my nav buttons on the right which then allows me to use the back button on the cover screen to go back and use swipe up gesture to go home and swipe up and hold to access recents.
I also have a macrodroid task set up to disable the gestures on the inside screen (I don't need gestures as I have the 3 buttons) and enable the gestures on the cover screen.
The second tweak is using macrodroid/tasker to fix the task stack disappearing.
I have tasks set up so when the screen is rotated or the device is unfolded, a gesture pulls the notification centre down about 100 pixels then immediately back up in 50 microseconds... this shows the stack again and the status bar has a tiny little flicker you barely notice.
It's unfortunate that this bug exists and hopefully its fixed soon because it is an awesome desktop-like experience.

As an add-on to the above - in order to be able to display the Task Stack in NavStar you first need to go into the phone's Settings - Display and disable "Taskbar" there.
Otherwise the "Show Task Stack" option will be greyed out in NavStar.
