I have just downloaded the rom upgrade off the O2 website (ver 1.60.50) and installed. Initially it was trying to connect to the internet! Eventually I got it working, but after hard resetting the version still says 1.60.00wwe, Rom date 12/03/03, extRom ver 1.60.50 - all as before.
Does anyone know if the upgrade has actually worked but the info not been updated, or does this mean that the update hasn't worked and I must have had an error somewhere?
Any help, advise appreciated.
I thought these forums where to help each other out and provide information. It is disappointing that no one wants to help, or provide a little guidance.

Absolutely nothing changed?
I thought it's not possible? Did you see a progress bar on XDA's display during the upgrade? if so, the memory has been accessed, so your rom is the new one, there is just a mess in identification. As far as I know, extROM changes the identity (it is it's main purpose), did you use it?

Maybe I'm wrong - but it seems that you are upgrading from 1.60.50 to 1.60.50. Right? As such, everything WOULD be the same!
I did see the progress bar, and the documentation before the upgrade on the O2 website sugests the Rom to be 1.60.00wwe and the extRom to be 1.60.50
I would have expected the actual Rom to now be 1.60.50wwe.
Has anyone else managed to upgrade to the official O2 ROM that is on their site and can confirm the ROM info? Also what apps etc would confirm that it has been upgraded if the info hasn't been updated but upgrade has work?
Many thanks for help and advice.
I'm not sure, but doesn't higher number mean later+better ROM?
If yes, have a look at 1.72 by T-mobile - there should not be many differences!
Since I have only just bought it I don't want to upgrade to an unofficial ROM in case it invalidates the Warranty should anything go wrong with it. May look at using a ROM from another supplier in a few months though.
Can anyone confirm if the ROM ver should be changed?
Thanks

You need to give people time to reply mate - we don't LIVE on these forums you know.
Anyhow, to answer your posts, yes, you have worked it out, the O2 ROM update, which is described as 1.60.50, is actually just the extended ROM element.
The system ROM is still 1.60.00
This confused me, and no doubt, lots more people too, and it's a bit STUPID of O2 to describe it this way.
Thus, you have in effect flashed your XDA2 to the exact same ROM it had before hand.
Curses to O2 for the confusion. Not good of them!
Thanks, and sorry for being impatient
O2 need to sort this out as I have done a ROM upgrade that could have fried my machine if I did it wrong that was unneccessary.
Thanks again.
Well, O2 is not alone in this - the current i-mate ROM is listed as 172126. The ROM version is 1.72.00, but the Extended ROM is 1.72.126.
I think they do this for internal tracking purposes. They get the ROM from MS, but they tweak the ExtROM themselves. It is possible for them to release multiple ExtROM versions in the same ROM version, so THAT is what they specify.
Make sense? Just a stab in the dark as to the logic of the release numbers.
I have the Ukrainian Version of the HTC Hero, and it lacks the Android Market. I would like a simple fix, or some way to get this installed. I have found some tools that involve Rooting the phone, but my model has security that prevents almost every method from working.
Here are some details about the Android version that I am running:
Firmware - 1.5
Build - 2.73.495.24 146733 CL#67791 release-keys
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated here - I love this phone, but I really need the marketplace because the alternatives just don't fully cut it.
Have you tried to update it?Updated ROMs are available at HTC's site or at the site of your country's carrier.Maybe going through an update will solve it...
I tried that and I did not work
I just got a brand new htc touch pro2 (rhod100) that was a test unit. I think it's an international phone, but I have no idea if it's unlocked or not -- whether this would work on Sprint or AT&T or what in the U.S.
I'd like to go install a stable version of Android (2.2 is fine) and use it in the U.S. on AT&T and for international travel.
ROM is 1.19.401.0, Radio is 3.44.25.27
Any suggestions where to start?
I've rooted and flashed both Windows and Android phones before, but am not an expert.
Appreciate any help or pointers you all could give.

first step in this, as you probably know, is to hardspl. Android over SD could work anyway even with stock rom, if my memory doesnt fail but it is always recommended to do it.
after that, one of the easiest ways to install android on SD is using Project Android.CAB, it install everything according to where it is supposed to be and then you just open the APP, select model and boot it. any more guidance? there are a lot of topics on the android section on TP2 but if you feel confused just ask.
i would recommend FRX07.1 Complete FroYo Bundle to start with
I bought this phone (V 3.6.8) to get re-involved with programming (away for over a decade). It's a nice piece of hardware at an incredibly cheap price. Like everyone here, I am frustrated with a locked bootloader and now no root. While I "try" to get up to speed (a lot to learn!) in the android world, I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Some questions I have:
1. Does anyone know some of the differences in V3.5.0 which can be rooted and V3.6.8 which can't be downgraded to V3.5.0?
2. Has anyone compared the now available source code versions released by Amazon?
3. Does anyone know which source code versions are used with V3.5.0 and V3.6.8 (or is it the same)?
4. Does anyone know if the partition setup for V3.5.0 and V3.6.8 are the same?
I realize there might be more important questions (build.prop issues?), so any help I can get to get started would be appreciated.
Hey there
I'm looking for stock marshmallow for our tmobile galaxy tab s on rooted stock 5.0 t807t.
The only marshmallow I see is for the t807a or the Turkish 6.0.1 for the t807 on sammobile.
What'll happen if I flash the Turkish 6.0.1 on this tmobile tablet?
If not Turkish, does anyone have any suggestions for something close-ish to stock?
Thanks In advance
A pity that often in forums to interesting questions, no replies follow. Unfortunately I cannot really contribute either except for essentially asking the same question.
I have the same tablet and would like to update it to Marshmallow but I am not sure whether the T807T version is technically the same as the non-T one.
Since your posting is already from several months ago - have you gone forward in the meantime and tried to flash it with that Turkish 6.0.1 firmware?
Same question
So funny,
No responses from my OP so I decide to give up.
2ish years later I ended up Googling about how to do this, taking another shot, and it brings me to the thread I created lol.
Right before I got back here I found a thread on lineage os that REQUIRES this SPECIFIC device (t807t) to be flashed stock 6.0.1 before proceeding with lineageos install.
Which to me brings me some hope that this old bird may have another go round.
I'm not the authority on lineageos, I don't actually know who maintans the wiki but check this out...
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/chagalllte/install
I'm Going to reach out to the guy who wrote that over at lineage Hopefully he can shed some light.
I wouldn't dare expect a Supreme xda mind to help with such a lowly request.
Yeah, "funny" as in dreadful irony.
I've already given up on seriously attempting to update this sadly orphaned tablet and considering that the most bothersome issue - the lack of any decent screen calibration - won't be addressed by Marshmallow either, it's probably not worth the trouble anyway.
At leastmy personal android update experience taught me that even if one or two things are a bit nicer or "better" in the new version, this often comes at the cost of at least the same amount of features not working anymore like they used to do before.
Same issue here. I had a proper 6.0.1 file for the t805w but now on updato all I get it a 5.0.2 firmware posing as a 6.0.1.
I flash it and still on LP.
does anyone know of anywhere where the proper 6.0.1 files are located. I'm registered on updato and sammobile amongst a few others I now regret registering on
