I sold this phone to a guy and bought an ultra. It worked great when I sold it to him and I had no issues with cricket. This guy tried to hook to Verizon and couldn't get it to work so he went to att and when you enter the imei it says incompatible. Only network that it says works is t-mobile, any ideas? I did flash Japanese firmware on it before selling and bootloader is unlocked.
It is looking as if att upgraded something to do with 3g and they kicked the f series off the networks. It says Feb of 2022 they will do it but we tested 2 f series and neither are able to be used on there.

Hi all, new here and phone ignorant.
My parents wanted new phones this past Christmas and they like Samsungs. They had Galaxy S3's and so I bought them 2 new Galaxy S9's, model SM-G960U1. They worked great out of the box. I moved over their ATT Straight Talk sims and they have had no issues. They live out in the country and these phones get great reception.
Fast forward to last week I decided to order the same for myself. The phone that arrived was a Galaxy S9 model SM-G960U. I stuck in my ATT Straight Talk SIM and at first thought everything was OK. But, then realized the phone is missing Volte, wifi calling, and gets horrible data coverage and very weak voice service in the country.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, like flash the firmware? Am I stuck with it? Should I try returning it?
Thanks!
Flash it to U1 (unlocked) as your phone currently has "U" firmware (originally carrier locked). Read this thread to see how: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/how-to-flash-u1-firmware-to-device-t3765200 . My S9 is an AT&T variant and I flashed it to The unlocked US variant and I use it on Simple Mobile. Wifi calling works, cellular data and cell signal - everything works perfectly.
I purchased a Verizon Galaxy Note 10+ 5g from ebay last year to use for Total Wireless. Well the phone wasnt compatible with Total Wireless at the time and I had to switch to Verizon prepaid. Now the phone is compatible but I cant add APN's to the device because Verizon has greyed out the option. I bought a US Mobile Sim card so I can switch all of our phones over since it is cheaper and is a Verizon MVNO, but I cant get everything to work on my note 10+ 5g. I was able to download an app that let me add APN's and the LTE comes up but now I cant get VoLTE to work. Its turned on but when I make a phone call, it switches to 1x. This is a problem since Verizon is doing away with their CDMA Network. I have spoken to Verizon, US Mobile, and Samsung with no help. My other Note 8 will work just fine when I put the US Mobile Sim card in and my Samsung a71 5g wont work at all and wont let me add APN's even with the app.
I have been doing research and found out about SamKEY and bought some credits to change the CSC from VZW to XAA. I was in the process and it gave a warning about locking the SEC so I decided to do more research before I screwed something up.
The phone is unlocked but for some reason, Verizon phones have these issues with a Verizon MVNO. I can add the TMO sim card from US Mobile and it will allow me to edit the APN's without an issue but I get zero coverage here so I cant use it. So how can I change the CSC to get VoLTE working on a Verizon MVNO? Or can I even change the CSC on this phone? I am so sick of Verizon phones but Im afraid to buy an unlocked phone since It doesnt support all of Verizon's bands.

IDK about unlocking an US device. I prefer unlocked devices.
US unlocked versions of Samsung devices are called "U1". It's part of the model number/name.
E.g. SM-G981U is the US locked Samsung Galaxy S20 5g (like for Verizon), and the SM-G981U1 is the US unlocked version of the same device.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone and buying a Google Pixel 4 XL. Saved some money and its unlocked. Ill never buy another Verizon Edition of the phone again.
I am in the market for this phone and what I see most often is the Sprint variant. Some say unlocked, while some do not say. Are all Sprint LG G8 unlocked for overseas GSM networks? I am in Nigeria and have bought unlocked phones which worked fine here. I have also bought some that I unlocked myself and they also worked well her. The issue is that I have not seen any unlock service for the Sprint variant. There are services that unlock the Sprint G7 remotely, but none for the G8 yet. What should I do in this case? If the Sprint G8 is GSM unlocked for overseas use then I am fine with it. If not, and there is no way to unlock it yet, then I'm in a pickle. Your advice please.
Thanks.
Im currently in the caribbean using a sprint unlocked lg g8 from the seller yyywireless in ebay , the phone works great! although it hass two compromises
1- The apn settings are a little weird to configure , you have to reset the apn settings until you get them working
2-The phone is stuck in android 9 , april 2019 security patch , some people were able to update , but I cant
With that said , it shoud work in theory , try to look up the bands that your cellphone companies use and check if the sprint version has them.
Good luck!
I need unlocked/dual sim. If I buy the UK variant, SM-F926B/DS, will it work on AT&T network? Will I get 5G/LTE? Will it update? Thanks!
It should. The spec sheets for the phone does not show any variance in the radio's and frequencies they are compatible with in regards to where it's sold other than the ROM's with the carrier configurations pre-configured.
Doesnt the US version have a mmwave 5g antenna the UK version doesn't have?
If correct, how would this affect me? Thanks!
I would be very careful. In 2020 I bought unlocked Note 20 Ultra in Czech Republic and brought it to USA to be used on AT&T network. Unfortunately the 5G bands are not compatible and I didn't get 5G at all. Otherwise the phone works fine, you get LTE speeds and little bit spotty coverage. If you can live with that, you will be ok.
I use an international note 10+ n975f in USA on ATT and my line was shutoff last month because of a new company policy that will be fully in effect Feb 2022. Only u/u1 variants will work on their network...must have volte working and be a device provided thru ATT...not imported. I recommend a different carrier.
These phones will keep working on AT&T after the 3G network shutdown
AT&T will shut down its 3G network and require HD Voice support by February 2022. Check this list to see if your phone will make the cut.

It sucks. They did send me a free note 9, but...I need a new carrier.
Interesting. I’m on an unlocked, dual-SIM, Note 8, N950F which came from Singapore. I don’t remember how long I’ve had it, but I think it’s been around 5 years. It’s not a 5G device, but it is 4G/LTE and supports VoLTE. I think AT&T knows about it because I think I had to provide them with a S/N, M/N, and IMEI years ago. I’d like a 5G device and this one isn’t holding a charge for a full day anymore, but otherwise works fine on AT&T for now. I’d really like to stay with an unlocked, dual-SIM.
Around October of 2021...I purchased a brand new UNLOCKED leftover Google Pixel 3XL, Model G013C
FCC ID: A4RG013C
It list's all the supported radio band's to include for both GSM and CDMA, etc...
I had been using it on AT&T Postpaid without any issues...for a few months but then I purchased an iPhone and did use it for a while but then recently decided to activate the phone again on Cricket wireless...the phone worked without any issues, making calls and sending text messages, etc...
But then, AT&T reallocated their 3G bandwidth and although my phone still worked on their network, 4G LTE...they sent me a text message and said my phone wasn't able to work on their network... Even though it did work, they shut my phone service off.
Now, what's ironic, is that my Cricket phone, which is a Motorola G Play (2021) which is NOT a 5G phone, does continue to work on Cricket.
Please compare, as I did, the Motorola G Play 2021, model XT 2093-1 which does continue to work on Cricket wireless, to my Google Pixel 3XL Model number G013C. (UNLOCKED) from Google.
There is absolutely no reason for my Pixel not to work on Cricket.
