Can Chromecast Mute TV Audio While Allowing Audio on Cellphone? IS THIS POSSIB L E?

I have an external mic (called an iRig Mic) that connects to a phone with a headset-jack.
On an iPhone it can be used to record audio when shooting videos, but when i connect it to my Nexus S running android, the sound from the mic is not recorded. Instead the audio from the internal mic i used.
Is there any way to change the audio source when recording videos? This would be a great feature for journalists using their phone as a camcorder for interviews.
Recording audio via 3.5 jack on android using external microphone
You have to buy adapter which will split the signal for microphone in and audio out (you probably know 3.5 jack in your phone is 2 directional as it supports headset with mic)
You can try to look for it on Amazon (headset buddy)
or solder into headset in the pins which are responsible for mic signal.
Then,
I know only 1 app for android which supports recording from external microphone:
Arabela Audio Recorder - choose DEFAULT audio source and it should catch the signal from external mic connected through adapter via 3.5 jack.
I THINK it can catch the audio while recording video because it works in background ... so later you will be able to remove the audio from video recording and join it with the one you recorded using Arabela with some kind of video editor
regards
couple of questions,
for the external mic is it stereo or mono?
any other programs you know that can capture external mic input since this post?
thanks!

I would like to know if hdmi setting for our Note 2 gives real possibility to use 5.1 or 7.1 surround audio.
That's what I tried. I was connecting it to my LCD TV Sharp LC46x20e using mhl adapter and hdmi cable. Sound was sent from optical output on the TV to my Logitech z5500 speakers.
The audio was pretty good, but unfortunately it wasn't Dolby or DTS (only Prologic surround from the speakers).
So either TV doesn't send correct 5.1 signal to the speakers or my video players (stock Samsung, MX Player and Dice Player) can't send 5.1 signal or Note 2 simply doesn't send 5.1
It would be very helpful for me if someone would be able to confirm any of those statements as I'm thinking of buying something like this to route the sound directly to the speakers without passing it through the TV and in effect achieve true 5.1 surround sound.
Have you tried Setting-->My device--> Accessories-> HDMI-Audio output--> Stereo/Surround option?
Hello
is it possible to stream the sound from the Firetv to Airplay speakers ?
External soundbar connected via digital audio out. Set to PCM mode. Sound still comes from TV speaker. Tried setting Auto and Pass Through. I can turn TV to mute but then mute icon appears. When using TV volume up or down, TV speaker starts playing again. I want only the sound bar to sound, no sound from TV speaker, and volume control via TV remote. How?

You can't as thing stand now. What I do to get around this issue it to keep the tv volume at 1.
This issue comes and goes (might depend on the order which devices are powered on).
New issue - with latest OS update there is a significant audio delay on some inputs.
I have S22 Ultra phone and want microphone routed through the Bluetooth one but android doesn't support that. Android only records mic by the phone and not bluetooth.
When I try using bluetooth mono app, it will stop audio from playing. Why?
I can talk through the bluetooth mic with it but no audio. When I turn off bluetooth mono, audio is back, but mic won't record through bluetooth device.
