I have the Redmi Note 8 (gingko), and when taking calls (eg WhatsApp) on earphones the volume is too loud, even when sliding the volume slider all the way down. This is not a problem specific to the earphones (connected via audio jack), I've tried several sets.
Since I currently runlineageOS 17.1, I tried adjusting the AudioFX equalizer to reduce volume, but it only works for playing music and not calls unfortunately.
With root I installed Viper4Android, which likewise is only effective for music but not calls.
Does anybody know of a solution with which I can reduce the in-call volume further beyond the minimum? Possibly there is a custom ROM, or a custom kernel I'm unaware of that resolves my issue.
Me (and my ears !) would gladly appreciate any help or pointers

Any one else having issues when playing music? The volume gets soft/low when seeking through a track, so you have to turn the volume up. Though once a new track begins, it gets very loud. Also it seems the bass gets very soft until a new track. Anyone know of a solution? This is with headphones and/or Aux port.
Edit: Well i found a solution run the stock samsung music player first.
It seems to be 3rd party music players (or maybe just PlayerPro) that had the issues. The Darthstalker rom that had the volume boost which is what made the music volume be very loud or soft. I installed stock volume zip. which solved that, but still the bass was cutting out when seeking through tracks. If you run stock samsung music player first then 3rd party/PlayerPro music app. The bass should be fine.
*On the side note if anyone ever noticed light white noise hiss sounds during quiet periods of a song or at the end. From the searching i did today it seems like its based on the impedance of the headphones. The lower the impedance, the higher chance you'll hear slight hiss sounds.
Just wondering if anyone has tried Skype, Google Hangouts or the like where you have the call volume set to max?
I can hear the other party just fine, but they tell me that from my end the sound is very muffled. I finally figured out that I can solve this by turning the volume down 2 or 3 notches, but then I can only make the call in a quiet room or else I can't hear them properly!
I reckon what must be happening is that the phone is trying to compensate for the speaker and mic being so close together (stopping feedback) that at loud volume it just aggressively cancels too much out which then includes my own voice.
So now I think I also know why normal speakerphone/handsfree phone calls are so soft in volume - Sony have deliberately knobbled it as a workaround rather than fixing the core issue. But other apps are allowed to use a higher speaker volume and so run into this issue if using the microphone as well.
I like to listen to podcasts (Podkicker) through my headphones when I'm going to sleep, and with the volume on my Note 2 on the lowest setting, some of the podcasts are still too loud, so I run Music Volume EQ with the equilizer levels all set at -15. The problem is that although this cuts down on the volume, it also produces a annoying static hiss. Does anyone else expirience this, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I would uninstall the volume app and install viper4android.
Bump. Still haven't resolved this. Anyone?
Hi, I'm using Note 2 with stock ROM unrooted
I think an app such as Viber or WhatsApp are interfering with volume on it.
Sometimes when I plug in my earphones to listen to music, the volume level stays the same as before, however it is obviously not as loud as it should be. Maximum volume is only about half the actual volume. Then I have to restart the phone.
This is annoying, is there a fix?
I am having an issue where when attached to my Bluetooth in my car I can not adjust my in-call volume in my phone. It gets stuck at 50%. I can adjust media volume no problem when playing music and can adjust the in-call volume in other Bluetooth devices like my buds+ and galaxy watch.
Any ideas how to fix this? It results in either very quiet call volume or when the call ends the music is crazy loudly.
I have this same issue.
Me too
Don't suppose anyone has managed to resolve this yet? It's still happening with me with Android 11 update.
Disabled absolute volume?
Make sure volume limiter is not enabled.
Clear system cache.
Reset network settings.
I have the same problem on tcl 55p83 ( RT851)
bluetooth max volume is limited to 50%
Any help ?
I have the same issue.... Just figured it was normal to keep distortion or feedback at a minimal?? But, maybe it isn't?
