I'm in the process of going off Google's radar for a while, so I'll need an AOSP rom. I don't have any plans to go migroG at this point, just a rom and the f-droid app.
Honestly, one of the few drawbacks I envision would be not having the ability to use all the available lenses on the 7T. However, I don't even know what the 'stock' AOSP camera apps can do (outside of gcam install).
Questions:
1) Would any of the available roms stock camera apps offer support for multiple lenses? If so, how is the experience.
2) Is there any chance, with a rooted OOS 7T, the stock cam apk could be ported to another rom?
Thanks !

I'm planning on using my phone for picture taking on an upcoming trip to Europe (my old camera is nowhere near as good).
Are there any Global roms with the latest Sense camera? Or is it possible to extract the camera app from another rom and use it, without having to modify anything?
I'm looking for a trouble free, snappy rom, that also let's me use the phone as a modem.
Looking forward to using AOKP or even CM9 when they're finally 100% on our HOXs, but I really like the HOX's stock camera software.
I'm assuming that Sense is required for the stock camera software to work. Is that accurate? I remember the Sense keyboard being available on non-Sense roms in the past.
Would a third party camera app be able to access the phone's special image chip features?
Has anyone come across a third party camera that comes close to emulating the features of the stock app?

for sense camera app to work on aokp that will be a big no no as it depends on the sense UI framework. maybe a third party camera app yes but then it depends on the kernel that is being used as well though. i remembered there was few things needed for the camera to work on the s2 and it needed the kernel source to be provided to get a few things working on there with cm9. but anyway to answer to the main question yes to use stock sense camera on cm9 or aokp you will not be able to as that camera app is dependant on the sense framework
Hello, I would like to ask, if there is some good ROM for daily use with original (or better than original) cam app. I have Liquid Milestone amani 3,2 ROM which is fine, but camera seems to be making worse photos than stock one and its missing some advanced features. I have no idea what kind of cam app is there, seems like google but dont know for sure. Anyway, i am also missing many features of stock cam. Bought this phone becouse of 20mpx cam, becouse I always focus on photography when picking some new device. Until today I had everything stock but now I am on unlocked bootloader seeking the best ROM for making photos with most advanced cam apk. If there is no such a ROM, will have to go back on stock software.
Thanks for any advices.
Try Kitslim_AMG for a stock based custom ROM or MIUI 5 for a different feeling. Both use the stock cam. Combined with Superior 20MP (Xposed Module) you have everything you ask for.
thank you for reply, going to try them
Hi!
I believe I know the answer to the question, but, is there any way to have both the AOSP dialer and the stock camera?
As far as I know AOSP based roms, such as Cyanogen, do implement the dialer but need LG drivers in order to have the camera working at it's best, which none is implementing at the moment (and looks quite hard to do in the near future).
On the other hand, Stock based roms don't have a way to replace the dialer as of now.
I come from a Nexus device and have been using Lollipop for some months now (since the first preview). I think the dialer is the best overall improvement of Lollipop besides material design.
But the thing about the G3 is that the camera is great. Being used to crappy Nexus cameras this is a whole notch above, and don't want to loose it. Mainly the video recording quality.
I wouldn't mind having either a stock or AOSP based rom. I've tried ChupaChups, Cyanogen, and am using now AN 6.1. All of them are working great.
Anyway I'm sure it's a matter of waiting a bit, development for the G3 is picking up speed.

Cant agree more with you. When im on stock, i miss the G Dialer so badly and when I go with AOSP, I just cant stand its ****ty camera. Now im on Chupachups but still longing for the dialer solution. Hope that one day Google will release its Dialer just as it did with the Messenger recently. 3rd Dialer wont replace the stock interface during call.
Have you tried any 3rd party dialer from Play Store?
Hello guys, just received my one plus 3 and loving it!
Coming from a nexus 6, I would like to try out cm13 or (cm14 once camera is working)
But if I am not wrong, it states that custom rom camera quality would not be as good as stock because of missing blob / binary or source code?
Am I right on this?
no custom rom is as good as oos in terms of camera although there are 2 working ports of oos camera already available and there is another thread on xda which compares pretty much every rom and their camera performance with each other.
