I want to buy a brand new pure Android TV. From availability, I can afford only Sony Android TVs & it's also a good brand. My budget is 700$, suggest to me some good models available in my country. My country is Bangladesh and If you can find the price in my country, my budget is 60,000 taka.
Requirements:-
1. Latest Android version available for Android TVs (min: Android 8 Oreo)
2. 2 GB+ ram
3. Play Store & Google Play games must be available
4. Chrome browser
5. Built-in Chromecast
It will be better if these are also available, it's not a must but it will be better:-
1. 4k+ HDR Display

3. Dolby Vision Sound system
If you have any good suggestion that fills all the requirements and also has those extra features in my budget please tell me the model name and number, if you can provide the official web link, it will be better. Mainly, I want it for gaming. If you can provide any model for gaming in my budget, Thanks in advance for that & May Allah bless you.

[Q] Ant+ and Garmin accessories

I went searching for Android devices that support the ant+ specification, or accessories to support them, and came across the Xperia line of devices that use a particular TI wireless chipset with built in ANT+ support.
Has anyone, or can anyone check to see if the current stock Rom has support for these accessories, while I know the device has support, I want to make sure that Sony included it in the current build.
Mods: move to development if you feel it should be there.
The Xperia Active, which is built with the same chip set as the play, does have ant + support. I guess they didn't program ant + support in the play because of marketing reasons.
The Xperia active is released in some places already, but I'm not certain where. There is a forum about the device in XDA (shared with the new Mini and mini pro), so feel free to go there and ask.

We have a chance for N

Today i see someone succesfully boot Android N on Xperia L. Which is Xperia L has a same proccesor with Redmi 1S (snapdragon 400) Maybe we can port the ROM into our device. What do you guys think about?

As far as I could gather, yes, it is possible to get Nougat.
Things we will NOT GET, because of the GPU we have are: OpenGL 3.1 / Vulkan. Those two are only embedded in Adreno 400 and upwards.
This would mean that there is a chance for problems with games that might migrate above OpenGL 3.0 (which we have).
As far as I'm aware, the differences between 3.1 and 3.0 are in the addition of new libraries, so if the game needs those new libraries 100% and doesn't offer a fallback option, we won't be able to play them.

Yeah i also see cm14 unofficial for Peregrine
hope so
Redmi1s won't get any more
Actually not a problem of xiaomi but of **** Google.
This is Android (and OEMs and Qualcomm) not looking far ahead to support devices. They don’t care about customers. After sale support non-existent.
Why is Apple able to support iPhone 5s (same age as Nexus 5) with iOS 10 and later? Because Apple made it compatible with METAL apk from day 1. Because it has hardware encryption since day 1.
Why is Apple able to support iPhone 5 (4 years old) with iOS 10? Because Apple is willing to!!! IPhone 5 does not support METAL nor does it have ARMv8 chip…yet iPhone 5 is getting iOS 10…minus raise to speak to Siri…it is getting 99% of iOS 10 features.
Remember, major software updates also bring with it security features beyond “monthly patches.”
So, with all the resources of software (Google) and hardware (OEM’s and Qualcomm), Android cannot support Nexu 5 and the likes?! It is like buying a laptop (since most phones cost the same) and can only use it for 2 years. That’s insane!
When will Android community wake up and demand more? Google, OEMs, and Qualcomm will only listen if money talks.
And it is this crap that explains horrible re-sale value of Android flagships!

Multi window support? & More questions before buying

Hi,
since the launch of Xiaomi's new devices today, I'm expecting a price drop in all other phones,
so here are some of my questions:
1. Which variant to buy?
I want to try 3GB RAM, so I guess I'll go with 3\32\650 version which is named Hydrogen?
I also understand that it has more developer support?
2. Does it support multi window for productivity? Even on other dev roms?
If this feature isn't available on a large screen like this, I'll be disappointed
Maybe it is implemented on CM13? Is it a part of the Nougat android?
3. Does it fit into car \ bike \ underwater cases?
Did you have problems finding cases that fit?
Thanks for your help!
(If only this device had S-Pen...)

I don't think the price is going to drop (atleast places it is officially launched) because xiaomi phones rarely gets cheaper.
1) Yes, 3/32/650 is Hydrogen and has global Stock ROM (other version only Chinese), support is almost equal for all the versions.
2) Stock MIUI ROM doesn't have multiwindow support, CM13 has Multiwindow.
3) No problem in finding cases. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/accessories)

Choosing a new phone

Hi,
I am looking for a phone, and I would like some advice to help me choose the right one.
I only use my phone to send/receive SMS/calls/emails. I also play (old) games while commuting. No Facebook, no social media, close to no browsing (occasionally, maybe once a month mainly to open links in emails)... which makes me think there is no need for a powerful phone.
I still don't want to buy a supermarket-and-cheap phone as I want something where I can install LineageOS/Cyanogenmod and upgrade "regularly" (every 2-3 years) to a recent version of Android. [I plan to keep my phone 5-10 years]
I also don't want a huge phone as they do nowadays (max 140mm length). I tried the LG G3 and the Samsung GS5 but they are too big for me.
I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which was perfect for me, but it died (maybe softbricked) while upgrading cyanogenmod.
My options : repair the SG2 but it may be a waste of money! or buy a new phone.
So my question is : do you know any recent phone that is not too big, quite cheap, and where I can install LineageOS?
Go to kimovil.com and search (up to 140mm)
Im using Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite.
It's best to just go for a One plus 6. Whatever you do, phrase do not go for another product apart from ONE PLUS is a no-win for me [emoji107] ONE PLUS COMMUNITY is the best. Join the trend and have a great smartphone Experience

I second the OnePlus devices, development, community...
Xiaomi mi A2. perfect phone for the money.
note 6 pro is better. mi 8 lite has better cpu but in real world usage, there is no difference at all. mi 8 lite don't have SD card expansion, small battery, no fm radio and no 3.5mm jack. also no ifr port. so make your choice
I would recommend the Xiaomi Mi9T

Question How to know what firmware comes preinstalled?

I'm considering on buying a X80 Pro from Trading Shenzen but I don't know what firmware it comes with (Origin or Funtouch).
Has anyone bought one from them?
Thanks,
I've just confirmed and it's ORIGIN OS. It seems there's a reason for it being considerably cheaper.
Below is the transcription of Trading Shenzhen's reply:
You would like to order the Vivo X60/X70/X80/X90 Series. Be aware that this is the Chinese version with Origin OS, not Funtouch OS. It supports the following languages:
English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Nederlands, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Thai, Arabian, Japanese, Korean
This one will have a few limitations, but a cheaper price.
- it comes with Origin OS, not Funtouch
- it will have a few Chinese apps here and there
- it allows to install an alternative launcher (Vivo Account needed)
- it has (X70/X80) Widevine Level 1 and (X60) Widevine Level 3, at L3 Netflix can only be displayed at 480p
- currently it has Saftynet Passed, so all banking apps and Google Pay should work
- the Play Store works without problems
- Android Auto does not work on most cars
- Chrome App can't be installed, but Chrome BETA and works perfect
Please keep this in mind when making your purchase selection.

Trading Shenzhen sell only chinese versions of phones.

My thoughts exactly! They were very open about these details.
I believe Vivo doesn't allow the flashing of European firmware and that's unfortunate. XIAOMI is much more open in this regard.
I recomand to buy from your country/city.
For examle i bought Vivo x80 Pro 12/256 Gb with SmapDragon processor from a sales forum (OLX) with around 625 euro full box, plus wireless charger.
And is Funtouch OS (global). I like this because i am used with Oxygen OS & Funtouch OS is very similar with Oneplus. Made by same company BBK.
