OK, so I have a P605v (locked bootloader) with Android 4.4.2 that is rooted using Towelroot.
Installed SuperSU from the Play Store and it works, but always asks to update binaries. Since it's stock recovery, it can't do so. Anyone know of a way to update them with the stock recovery?

Download the latest version of SuperSU from http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip .
Unzip it on your PC and then look for the superuser.apk file in the common directory. Copy it across to your tablet and then run it.
It should let you update the binaries - just use the standard method. You may need to reboot a couple of times.
Sorry I'm a newbie. I recently installed Android L using factory images but didn't love it cause I couldn't root it using the SU binaries. So, I re-installed Android 4.4.4 using factory images and rooted it as it was before. My question is will I ever get Android L update over OTA or rooting will prevent the OTA. In About Tablet it always say Your system is up to date with recent check time. Many websites said that rooting does not hinder the OTA. Also some said that you do get notification but the OTA does not get installed because of some script checking your system.
Can anyone please clarify me what is it actually? Has any of the rooted Nexus 7 here got update for Lollipop?
P.S. I know that I can always use the factory images but my question is regarding OTA update on rooted device.
If you search, you'll find 2 different methods to gain root on Android L.
The only things that will prevent an OTA from installing are a custom recovery and modified system files.
Google has all the answers that you seek.

I did install Android L and was out of luck with rooting so had to revert back to 4.4.4. I searched the forums then but none helped. Only thing I have is TWRP custom recovery and Gravity Box installed (which I think makes UI changes so system changes I suppose, not sure about that). But, even in these cases from what I read I found that you will get an OTA notification in the System Update section but thing won't get installed returning an error.
Can you post the links regarding the two methods that works on lollipop. I tried the chainfire's SUPERSU zip and installed it using TWRP recovery but that gave an error saying "SU binaries not found. Did you recently update to 4.4.3."

Are you still looking for an answer for this? Use Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root.
It is my understanding (perhaps incorrectly) that you can OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0 with root, but any further upgrades (say, to 5.0.1) will fail if any system files have been modified. Xposed works by modifying system files, so it must be uninstalled, and root must be removed. Like I said, I'm not 100% sure about the ability to OTA from 4.4.4 to 5.0 with root, but I am sure about NOT being able to OTA from 5.0 upward with root.
Hello NPOA556, Today I'm still on 4.4.4 and I got update notification for 5.0.1 of 389 MB. But it keeps saying insufficient space on device when I still have 4.3 GB free. Does it need free space in system ROM which is just 133 MB free of 867 MB. Or this issue if because I'm getting OTA directly on 4.4.4 for 5.0.1 which is again rooted and with Xposed and other things installed?
Please guide me.
Hello, I've recently rooted my phone.
I have an LG D855 on Android 5.0 on software version V21A-EUR-XX
My question is, what is the safest way to install TWRP?
Also, what's bump? Is it related to flashing TWRP?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/help-thread-lg-g3-question-t2947298
Check the Q & A thread.
i used this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396
it is an .apk install it (take the one for d855) once the app is installed run it and follow the steps.
I suggest you after you used the app go to the playstore and search for twrp, download TWRP Manager by Jmz software and uptade the Twrp version to the last one from the app.
@rbox Hey I keep getting notices that Su binary needs updating. Should I flash latest update via recovery?
I thought i saw mention of a fix for this but I can't seem to locate it again.

I've been doing that, just wondering if i can/should update ? Will It cause problems if i flash latest version?
got the same idea: just flash super su 2.79 sr3 should work?
That's what I'm thinking, just wanting rbox to confirm it shouldn't hose anything. I know some roms on phones don't work with latest versions. And since he is using such an old version, I'm think that might be the case here
Hmm i think i will try it next time. Create a backup and flash supersu.

flashing/updating SuperSU is not working and you will lose root
Since SuperSU is now a system program. I think doing fresh installs are the most secure way to test newer versions.
What I was planning to test before the XPosed APK fix came out was to have the latest PreRooted ROM & manually change the inners of the SuperSU folder to the latest. Not just the APK but the binaries or what ever is included. And then flash that modded PreRooted Rom.
XPosed APK fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/themes-apps/protip-how-to-supersu-xposed-app-t3552590/page1
I asked @rbox about it & he said it should be fine. At worst I think you will end up with a non-rooted FireOS 5 install but as long as it doesn't update (make sure you are only messing with the latest FW version) & you can still get into TWRP. Then you can flash the latest original PreRooted ROM to get back your root.
I might still do some testing regarding this in the next few days. Might try the latest beta, final & a few other versions since v2.46.

What FW where you on & what method did u try using ?
- manual clean up of apk installation first (system/apps & /data/app, but left /system/xbin/su)
- adb install eu.chainfire.supersu.vX.xx.apk (1.94, 1.97, 2.00, 2.4x,...)
- TWRP flash of UPDATE-SuperSU-vX.xx.zip (1.94, 1.97, 2.00, 2.4x,...)
- ...

Although it is much more of a pain to do fresh installs. I think when dealing with root it should be more stable to mess with it that way.
One can also do the build.prop mod to stop updates if one wants to test older FW versions.

First thanks for the link to the xposed fix:good: And now that you mention it I don't know why i didn't think of that sooner, should be relatively easy to just replace the files in the zip with 7zip DUH. Only problem is I have everything all setup perfect.
