Hi guys,
I've had my Zenfone 2 (I ZE551ML US Version) for about two months. Right out of the box I rooted it to remove all the Asus bloatware. I then unrooted it and reset it to factory settings. Whenever I try to get OTA updates it errors out once it boots into recovery to install the updates. Then it restarts and says "system update failed. Your system has returned to previous configuration." So I haven't been able to get any of the critical updates. I tried manually downloading the firmware and putting on the sd card but it doesn't seem to pick it up. I don't get the "update found" message so that I can manually install. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
you removed the bloat, that's the problem. flash latest full firmware, then root and disable the bloat (don't delete it). that way when a new ota arrives you just have to unroot to flash the new ota

Daaamn that's what I was afraid of.
So I'm running OOS 3.2.6. which is rooted. In the software update it shows 3.2.7 (1.3GB) available for download but it also says "Root detected, downloading full upgrade. Note: your device will be unrooted." So if i download and install this will it work ? Also, whats the best way to install official updates on a rooted OOS ?
You need clean install of oxygen before you can update regardless, just have to reflash su again afterwards and any kernels xposed you use.

You can easily install it, but after the download su will be removed, so you will have to reflash it.

I'd recommend flashing stock recovery before downloading the OTA update as twrp "sometimes" fail to flash OTA updates. Also flashing the 1.3 gb full update will remove your root. You'll have to flash supersu again for root. And you'll have to do this everytime an OTA comes.
The best way to install official updates on rooted phone is to download the patch only file for 3.2.7 and flash it via twrp. The patch file will be around 40-50MB and it is available somewhere in the XDA threads. Search for it.

Best way is to download OTA update from oneplus forum instead of complete ROM and just flash update

I did try that for the 3.2.7 update. Dirty flashed the OTA patch but it didn't seem to work. It's still 3.2.6

Wipe the system partition. Flash the 3.2.6 full update + ota patch together.

Haven't tried it before but thanks for letting me know.
I want to install CypherOS on my Oneplus 3, but this requires firmware 3.55 for the fingerprint reader to work. Trying to install this through either installing the latest beta version of OxygenOS and using this firmware package has lead to my phone getting bricked twice, and I really don't want to go through that ordeal again.
So, what is the safest way to get firmware 3.55?
What firmware do you installed exactly? 3.5.5 Firmware is Open Beta 6. I have no problems using this link from the thread you posted.

I used Open Beta 8, and after I had flashed the firmware, it told me that CypherOS was incompatible, and then I couldn't boot the phone into anything but fastboot.
Hi guys
I'm really confused.
I have EU Op9pro le2123
I'm rooted and when I'm trying to get OTA the device telling me that Im already updated
My current version is 11.2.6.6
I have 2 questions. Is there any update for my device or it's only for the global version .
The other question is how can I OTA ?
I don't have bootloader omg backup so I can't unroot .
Please advise
Updates are always staged updates. Some markets/regions get them via the official way before others.
Install Oxygen Updater app. If there is an update, it will tell you.
There are some threads on how to update if you are rooted.
Best you read them or search for them.
You are not the first with this question/issue....
Use Oxygen Updater to download the rom (11.2.7.7BA is available now).
If you are rooted then it will download the full rom, this is normal, if you're not rooted then it should download the OTA version.
The file will be stored in your main sdcard folder.
You can update from Settings>System>System Updates. Tap the cog on the top right and choose local upgrade, then choose the file downloaded, it will then be installed, then restart.

But if rooted, donĀ“t forget Magisk before rebooting ..
Thank you all
I have a consumer cellular branded XT2052-5. I'm running Android 10 Build Number QPGS30.82-135-16 which has the Dec 1 2021 security patch. I have successfully unlocked my bootloader, installed ofox recovery.img, and patched the boot.img using Magisk app. I'd like to update my ROM to the latest security patch.
As I understand from this webpage: https://www.thecustomdroid.com/install-ota-update-rooted-android-device-guide/ one option is use the Android Settings -> Systems -> Advanced -> System Update to download and then install the OTA, but don't reboot until after running Magisk and installing on the new partition. However, while it seems to install "Software update unsuccessful, couldn't apply system update to moto e..." (not verbatim since the message disappears quickly). Note also that the update file size is listed as only ~65MB while the example screen in the instructions at thecustomdroid.com inedicate it sholud be >1.5GB.
Anyway, I have resisted patching the boot.img and installing it in the other A/B partition via the Magisk app and am wondering how to proceed.
Can someone help me?
Mike
I had the same issue when trying to update via OTA. After testing I realized that the reason I couldn't update was because of the custom recovery installed. So I started all over went back to stock firmware using a program called RSD Lite to remove custom recovery completely and updated via OTA then patched with magisk. I ditched the custom recovery since it is not needed if you are on stock firmware.
