I've a SM-T700 Tab S 8.4 running lollipop, and I've recently noticed a bug. I don't know if it's new since the lollipop upgrade, but I didn't notice it before.
I often use it to read in the dark, so I turn the brightness down and set the touch keys to never light up. However, after a while the lights come on and stay on until the setting is altered again.
Anyone else getting a similar issue?
Hi! I think it's a common bug. I have the same problem and read that many people have it.
I'm not aware of any permanent solution, so for now i keep mine at 1.5 seconds (I'd prefer them off, but thats the best I could find!)
PS: Sorry for my English!
No need to apologize. Your English is perfect.

If the problem's widespread, what devices/ROMs has it been seen on? Is it Galaxy-specific, I wonder.
Same issue here

Same problem here, only on mine the only way I've found to turn them off once they come on is to restart the device. What a hassle.
I have the same problem, regardless of what I set the duration to. It never did this under Kitkat.

Hi! I have same problem with Brazil version also.
Might it be related to that version only?

could possibly be... anyone with this issue not on the Brazil version?
Yes, same problem here with my new Samsung Tab S 8.4 SM-T700, stock 5.0.2
Putting it to 1.5 secs is the best I can do for now. I'm looking around on the app store to see if there's a different app to control this that might work (aside, the Galaxy S6 came with no way to turn these off and you have to use a separate app to do this).

No need to restart/reboot, for me if I change the setting to something else (e.g., 1.5 secs etc) and then back to OFF it'll work for a while before it stays on permanently again.

I tried that with mine... won't work: no matter what I change the setting to they just stay on until I restart the device. I created a ticket with Samsung support last week, but no response from them so far.
Ah .. ok, that's interesting, thanks for sharing. Hopefully Samsung will issue a fix in the next update. Nice tablet otherwise.
I'm sure most, if not all, knew this, but it is definitely a software issue. I flashed CM 12.1 the other day and the touch keys stay off. Perhaps someone can look into the stock firmware and see if there's a way we can fix it ourselves?
Hey guys, I've had the same bug since upgrading to Lollipop and I found out it seems to be a bug with the power saving mode. If I turn it off, the bug stops happening. I'm also testing power saving mode with the "turn key lights off" option unchecked, and it seems to be working ok. This option can be found under settings, power saving, restrict performance.
I'll keep testing. If anyone tests it too please reply with your findings!

I never use power saving mode, because I'm almost always near a charger, and I also had this issue. I don't think power saving mode has much to do with it. Not directly, at least.
Hi, I'm not using power savings mode, but have the same problem, so I'm not sure this mode is a factor (at least a sole factor).
Hi to all.
Somenone previously suggested this app:

I've been using it with and without power saving mode for 4 days and so far so good.

Hi,
I suggested this app earlier upstream, however, it ended up not working for me. Not sure how it's working for you, but happy it is. (FWIW, I never use power savings)
Starting a thread, since it seems it's officially out.
Let's share our impressions of the update, and any questions or issues that you've encountered.
First Impression:
Looks and feels almost exactly the same as before so far. App drawer is exactly the same. Colors, the same, etc.
However, moving the up or down button doesn't give you the option to change the do not disturb (you could make it priority or no disturbances). You can still mute/go to vibrate by clicking on the 'bell' icon, and if you click the down arrow, you can change volumes on music and alarms.
Edit: you can swipe down twice/swipe down with two fingers from notifications bar, and the Do Not Disturb option is in the lowest right corner of the toggles. Tapping it will allow you to do Do Not Disturb settings. Note: once you click it, it automatically enables do not disturb.
I miss the old way. Anyone know how to change it back and/or a quick way to get to that?
Also, Now On Tap is not enabled by default. You have to go to Settings/Google/Search&Now/Now on Tap
Accessing Google Now has changed. Instead of swiping up from bottom of screen, you have to hold the 'home' icon (the circle in the middle of the triangle and square).
If you have turned on 'Google On Tap', contextual cards will pop up as determined by On Tap. If you click the 'G' below, you'll get to Google Now. If you're tired of On Tap you can click the three circles near the G to turn it off.
I really thought Verizon was waiting for the Marshmallow update to add wifi calling capability to the Turbo 2, but it's still nowhere in sight. Why do the iPhone and Samsung get the wifi calling feature and not the Droid-branded Verizon flagship?
Glad to have System UI tuner back, and Doze will be welcome at work tomorrow.

My son and I are using Turbo 2s on T-Mobile and got the update OTA today. That was nice but now both our LTE is limited to 1 mbps. Running SpeedTest it starts at 5 to 8 and then drop to 1 and flat lines there.
My wife is getting mid 30s with her N6 which is what I got at home before the update.
Be interesting if anyone else running a Turbo 2 not on Verizon has the same issue.
Well, found a fix... Kinda. I was scratching my head over this and searched T-Mobile throttling. Turns out with our Turbo 2s on Marshmallow T-Mobile's Binge On service is applied to ALL my data. Once I turned it off our speeds came back.
In case anyone else is using their Turbo 2 on T-Mobile here are the dial codes to check and switch Binge on and off.
Check: #264#
Off: #263#
On: #266#

It is a set of hidden tweaks, like Quick Menu options and Status Bar Icons. You unlock it by pulling down the quick menu and holding the gear for several seconds. Here is a basic overview: http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-system-ui-tuner
I do not like the new dialer. And they never fixed the phone/audio jack problem... I have to hit speaker phone when using the jack making a call.
I am not able to unlock the system UI tuner?

Reboot and try again. It doesn't seem to unlock on the fresh install.
Had to uninstall waze because it kept force closing every few minutes. It happened when I updated yesterday.

There are 4 ways to access the toggles in in your notifications pull down:
1. swipe down twice from notification bar
2. swipe down with two fingers from notification bar
3. swipe down once from notification bar, and tap the grey notification area
4. triple tap on notification bar
I just found out about the fourth way and it's the easiest way for me to access it.

Maybe you can reflash the official firmware if it is available yet. I have not heard of this issue.
Anyone notice it takes about 3 seconds to get to the home screen from off by pressing the fingerprint scanner? Is it just me? When I press the home button it takes about 1 to 2 seconds for the screen to turn on. Then I get a choppy animation for another 1 or 2 seconds before getting to the home screen. How about you. Can you guys press on your home button and count how long it take to gets to the home screen? Sometimes I count to 5...
Im a bit concerned since I'm also experiencing frame drops with my Gear VR and that never happened with my s6e or my s7e.
Need to know if it's common or if it's my device.

Same here. I'm really worried though because the lag was there in safe mode which means it's not caused by a third party app. Which means that even if I do a factory reset it WILL COME back.

So as it turns out the fingerprint scanner is blazing fast. The lag is with the home button.

That's pretty much the first thing I did. Actually it's not specific to s-voice its due to the fact that you can double press the home button, used to be for s-voice now for the camera. Whenever you press the home button once the phone waits for a potential 2nd press therefore causing the delay. Technically disabling any double home button press action should make it faster but it's still just a tiny bit faster.
I would like if there was an option to bypass the lock screen and go straight to the home screen.

Heya!
As of yesterday I've been having an unusual issue. My galaxy a50 seems to not have any audio. The speakers and microphone don't work, there's no audio when connected by 3.5mm either.
The second aspect of my issue is that all media (YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, podcasts) is sped up. The timeline skips in increments of approx. 7 seconds.
I've done a reboot, checked settings, checked accessibility settings, wiped cache, booted into safe mode and done a factory reset. None of which worked.
I'm running stock android 9

Hey guys, I apologize for the wait, it's been a chaotic few days. I hadn't had time for the reflash yet, but the issue seems to have fixed itself. I'm sorry that no real solution was found but glad I've got my audio back

Hi Guys! I am new here, my samsung A52s 5g just freezes and always going back to home screen specially when connected to wifi. It just happened all of a sudden, I didn't even downloaded anything, I just use my phone on social media platform and some games.
Here's what I did
I tried factory reset - issue still persists
I tried hard reset, clear cache - issue still persists
I tried reprograming with Odin the latest version of Odin - still didn't fix the problem I even downgraded the android version with the old A52s firmwarw with Odin but the issuw still persists.
Does anyone encountered the same issue? And know a solution? Please let me know. TIA
Welcome to XDA
Sounds like a hardware failure.
If you did all that not much else left.
I hope someone know a solution how to fix this problem. It just happened all of a sudden. The phone was working fine beforw my son just turned it off. When I turned it back on it freezes wherever I go and going back to homescreen by itself. It happens all the time when the wifi is on. But when the wifi is off, it is somehow ok.
Well leave the wifi off. You went back to a known good firmware version and set the data user partition to its default settings. Unless you installed a buggy 3rd party after that there's not much left other than a hardware failure.
Data user partition should be in default settings I guess since flashing to known good version.

Time will tell. I find that disconcerting. Did Samsung release that model with that big of a glitch in the firmware for some models of that production run? Yes, well... that's Samsung.
I've had this issue. Sent it back for warranty claims and they sent me a replacement unit, Initally I though GalaxyMax Hz caused this issue - so I haven't used it again.
