As the title said it the standard options allow E-Mail notifications about just anything happening on xda-developers. I was so surprised about the amount of xda-mails I started to wonder if it is a spam distriibutor.
Admins, please remove the E-Mail notifications standard options if people create a new account.

I just did. But be honest. A lot of new users won't check it just like me. So what benefits does xda get from it? Ad money?

As stated you can turn off, your notifications or leave them be, for those that are in the forums daily and have multi-threads, it works for them. If you are not active them turn it off, the benefit is for the user to be...notified of threads they post in or track.
And for some checking emails are a daily thing, in this day in age, some live by emails.
I turned off all E-Mail notifications and still get spammed by xda when someone replies to me or follow thread. I am ****ing tired of your **** spamming already! Because of it I accidently deleted some important E-Mails.

So it is XDA's fault that you deleted "important" emails, I for one use a different email for the important emails, but I manage 4 different emails, work, work, home and XDA. But seems you have not turned off your XDA email notifications, or your XDA notifications. Maybe you can just uninstall XDA from your device, or check the threads below, to see if helps with your issue.
BTW posting in this manner, will not get your issue resolved, but it will get you an infraction against your account, we understand your frustration, but the task falls on you to correct.
Maybe there is some help in these threads for you:

@T.C.Stockdale Actually, I'd love to learn how to receive an email notification if "someone replies to me" i.e. if I'm mentioned or quoted. I'm not talking about an alert in browser or app. I believe I really tried everything but I'm unable to figure out how to receive such an email notification. Currently, I think it's just not implemented, and therefore I'm even more wondering why and how @heyadmwutanime gets these emails as stated?

Not sure how others or you have it set, I, in my preferences, have checked the email options checked for everything listed in there, I use a different email for XDA, as stated, so my home, work emails don't get overwhelmed, and the emails do come in, along with the app notifications, this way I don't miss anything, that I want to know about. Not sure why you don't get them, but I do, and seems others are, hence the OP's post.
Unless I have a special account, highly doubt it, just a regular Member, so if I get them, not sure why others are not.

No, no. All above is clear. I tried all settings in preferences, too. But then I receive an email notification whenever somebody posts in a thread, in which I've also ported i.e. interacted with. Such an email notification, I don't want to receive; only an email notification when I'm mentioned or quoted. But as I said, I think this isn't implemented and as such not selectable.
Therefore my current preferences look like this:

Hi xda-dev,
I just thought if we could have us thread owners to have a standard button design for a specific thread that we can use/link in our blog post or websites?
Just a thought ..
And, while on the subject: Is an RSS feed going to be made avail in new version ?

I think that's a great idea. But could you clarify: Are you speaking of the same basic concept on news sites where various social-media icons are avail to auto-repost? (twitter, digg, etc)... Or do you mean a button that performs the action of copying the thread's link & title to the clipboard, then being able to paste it anywhere on your own site, manually, into a blog post etc?

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC:
I'm WAY behind the curve in using twitter, and how it integrates with what seems like 1000 different twitter-based apps... And twitpics, i'm even less clear on how and WHEN to use it, and if it's used WITH twitter, or a parallel service to twitter for just sharing photos in real time.
ON-TOPIC
So I'm not clear if your posting that image on twitpic is literally an example what you want to be able to do, or are you saying there are apps for either phone or desktop computer that will generate a template graphic as well a specific thread title linked? So, in your picture, is the thread title generated as part of the graphic itself? Or is the thread title displayed in HTML on top of the template graphic?
I am really confused but I like the way it looks! please explain further...
Okay, so now I see this, in your prior sig file.. and I see that it is a graphic that gets generated with the title of the thread rendered as part of the image... so i just have never seen these used -- but I love the idea...
So for this example here:
tell me how that gets generated -- at http://www.twitstamp.com ? and then when you apply that generated graphic, how do you also code the link to the thread, in this example?
even more confused and feeling so behind the times !
well whaddayaknow -- this looks like a pretty cool web app ! ---
so are you speaking of ...
(1) You're here at XDA-devs, and you're on, for example, this very thread...
(2) You'd like to see a simple small graphical button, as part of "thread tools" or somewhere within the thread page layout, that when you click on it, it grabs the Title of the thread, and the link, copies it to pasteboard...
(3) then you go to a site like, for example, TwitStamp.com, and insert what's on the pasteboard into the "input box" at Twitstamp...
(4)... thereby generating a graphic with link that can be embedded anywhere on a webpage etc, exactly as you would grab embed code from a YouTube video, or from a photo at photobucket.com, stuff like that?
(5) Is this kind of small-file-size "picture status" thing being rapidly used as a way to post updates, but using twitpics? So that after you generate the graphic, you post it to twitpics? And those who subscribe to your feeds can see "oh cool, that sounds like an interesting thread, i want that for my phone"... and so they would click on it and link to the thread here at XDA?
even more confused by all the permutations of pasting what where... hah hah.
Is this what you mean exactly, or is it close, or is this just one of many examples of what you are envisioning?
sounds & looks interesting....

UserCP stands for user control panel. When you make or post in a thread, you're automatically subscribed to it. If there are any new replies, they'll show up in the UserCP.
You might have to go into your settings and change the subscription settings to automatically subscribe you to threads. For some reason, I had to in the beginning.

You get email notifications....what else do you need?
torvick12, you should receive an email every time this happens.
When you start a new thread, or post in another one, you are (by default) automatically subscribed to that thread. And when someone else makes a new post, you should receive an email.
Are you receiving these emails?

Dear admins/website developers,
It would be a really nice feature to be able to rate a post.
-1 off topic/offensive
0 off topic/irrelevant
+1 on topic
+2 on topic/informative
+3 on topic/must read
Something like that. They use it on the dutch website tweakers.net and it's really handy.
By filtering out the off topic posts. You have a much cleaner view of the thread.
The user is free to choose the level of rating. For example I wan't to read the "thank you's".
I set the viewing level to 0 offtop/irrelevant.
But if I would be a developer I would set it to +1 or +2, so I could easily read up on new developements users have made or requested.
Ofcourse the rating of the posts has to be done by users themselves.
And they themself have to be rated as well (their credibilty).
If one user A rates a post -1, but five other users rate that post +1. The credibilty of user A goes down.
I think this is a really nice way to clean up a thread.
Popular rom threads get spammed so fast with "thank you's" and/or questions, that there's hardly keeping up with the actual developing discussion, bug reports, fixes, etc.
Cheers,
Daan

I know but I don't think it's appropriate to report a "thank you" post
What I meant was, viewing a thread on different levels.
Normal, informative and developement. Or somethng like that.
Now that I think about it you could indeed skip the -1 and just report offensive posts to the mods.
Mods will still have to remove it. Not a big deal ofcourse, probably takes 2 minutes.
But with the system above that is no longer necessary. Users become the mods in a way.
Cheers,
Daan

Nothing wrong with reporting "Thanks" posts in my opinion. I do it all the time. Dev threads get cluttered up enough without having newbies clutter it up with "Thanks" or "ETA?".

That's exactly what I mean.
Wouldn't it be nice if you, the user, could mod the post.
That way you won't have those annoying cluttered up threads anymore.
The posts are still there, but you filter them out to your own needs.
I think the biggest issue with your idea (which I like, btw) is the server overheads. You're basically asking for every single thread to have its own dedicated view. I've seen similar types of features in sites like Stack (I use Stack Overflow quite a lot) and it works very well for them, but they're not forums - they're purely Q&A sites and they discourage discussion. While that difference is not particularly pertinent to your suggestion I do think you're thinking of this site more along their terms.
The mods are there for a reason, and as tedious as it may be, cleaning threads is one of their tasks. Just report things that are out of place.

A quick fix would be to use the XDA Toolbar for Chrome. You can collapse posts, sigs, and images. It's probably going to be more to your liking than us telling you that XDA isn't going to implement this feature.
[20-Dec-11] XDA Toolbar for Chrome v1.7
I agree with the report button... Cause a mod can review it to see if it needs to be removed.. If they did it the way your talkin about.. Things could get messy since some new guys or someone wanted to be not a nice person could just down rate your thread for no reason at all... Which does happen from time to time.. I have no idea why when a bunch of others love it.

New users should not be able to mod posts yet.
There should be a rating system for the users themselves, as stated in the first post.
If user A rates posts -1 while 5 others rate +1, then eventually user A won't be able to mod posts anymore.
Well, I guess I'll have to use the report button more often and more aggressively.
It was just an idea.

Whahaha, I can see the connection.
Nice work on the toolbar!
kind of similar request: how about keeping it simpler, and have the ability to filter a thread so it shows only "thanked" posts? I think this would be extremely useful, and although I know very little of programming, it shouldn't be difficult? This way for example if I'm in a custom Android ROM thread, instead of searching or reading through posts, you just filter out the questions and other "less useful" posts and get straight to the answers or the more useful/interesting ones.
Sorry if this had been requested before (or if there already is the ability to do it..... ) but just saw this thread and thought I'd jump in

The post rating system only exists in the Galaxy Nexus forum at the moment and has been there a while now.
I'm not too sure about it though because I figured there would be buttons to click to rate the post up or down.
I couldn't understand how simply showing that message (one in screenshot) would solve anything.

Am I just doing it wrong, or does sending an SMS to a group of people just not work the way you would expect? When I send an SMS to a group of people (using GO SMS or the default app), each person's reply comes in on it's own thread, and there is no way for a person to reply to all. Recipients also cannot tell who all the initial message was sent to.
TMO has a group SMS app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zipwhip.zipgroups.sidekick, and I know people that use it, and it seems to work, but when I install it on my SGS3, it never works (it errors out when "setting up the phone"). It seems this app is only for the SIdekick??? Why it is specific to a single phone is beyond me. I have also seen other apps that work, but they all require everyone to use the same app (WhatsApp, for instance).
There is a setting for MMS Group Chat in GO SMS, but it doesn't seem to do anything for organizing a thread for multiple recipients. In fact, I'm not sure what it does.
Stock messaging app doesn't do group. It sends them separately to each so when they reply you get separate replies. But go SMS pro fully supports group chats. Been using it for quite a while now. Below are the settings you need to check.

It'll go to the group chat thread assuming their phone supports it. Its like being in a chat room. Everyone can see everyone's reply in one thread.
But if their phone doesn't support it then it will send separately

[Signatures] ☎ Create your own mobile devices timeline (phones history) - super easy
Hi,
A new free web service has been just released - Mowned.com.
You can create your own mobile devices showcase (timeline).
As users creates timelines (eg: add phones and year when they got them), some interesting data will appear (such as: appreciations, devices owned by years, etc - for example check this page).
.. but let's go back to the forum signature. You can create easily signature image that can be used in forums, etc. For an example of a generated signature check mine.
Steps:
Login with Facebook - just click that button, confirm the dialog from Facebook then your account is automatically created
Add your phones - the process is intuitive, you will see once you finish step 1
After you added all your phones click "Activate image signature" from bottom of your dashboard
Copy desired BBcode code generated with the signature image
That's all. You can have your signature in minutes.. in the case you remember all the data .
You may observe that some years in the signature are in gray color instead black. Black means that device is still owned, gray = device gone.
PS: phone years is not mandatory but nice to have (for statistics, as written above)
The service can be acccesed via:
mowned.com - users mobile devices timelines

Re
thanks i will try it out
Would be great if you didn't need to use Facebook for it to work.
XperienceD, "Login with Twitter" may be implemented soon. It's that ok for you, since Twitter share less information than Facebook?
Thanks

Not really, no. I don't use anything that requires a login from either, especially when it's something I'm only ever going to use the once. Good luck with it though.

^^^ Exactly what he said ^^^ I have no FaceBook account. I have no twitter account. I only have a G+ account because I need a Google account for my Android phone to function fully.
I look forward to the day when FB suddenly goes out of business and all these other companies are screwed - why they can't simply create their own log-in - or even better not require one - I don't understand.
Love the idea but why do you need a login in the first place?
I would remove the need (maybe give the option to) to get more people using it.. what's to stop someone else making a site that does the same but with no login?

Yeap, but in future you get new devices so you need to update current phones list (timeline). If the phone's aren't linked to an user account you cannot edit..

I guess sites uses Login/Connect via Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Facebook because:
1) users that are using those platforms don't have to complete registrations forms.. just a few clicks and voila, you have access to the site. I personally prefer to login with Twitter and if I like a site and have this option I would sign in using this alternative
2) sites programmers don't have to stress with users creating process, eg: captcha, e-mail validation,etc.. Plus they got extra information, especially from Facebook, such as interests, etc (mowned.com doesn't store such information)

Login it's needed because:
- phones are linked to an account
- edit phones list in future (eg: add new device, correct device year from - to, etc)
- user-based phone list helps improve the statistics per phone, for example see this link: http://mowned.com/devices/samsung-galaxy-nexus-i9250
- rate phones (for the sake of statistics again)
So.. what's the purpose you may ask? Well, this way we may see most appreciated phones by owners, phones owned by years, most owned phones.. It's true that you need some amount of data to a have a proper view..
I will implement in the next days a solution for login with e-mail and password (so an valid e-mail and password is needed for registration).
Edit:
Has anyone tried this?
Hello,
Now there's the option to sign up with an e-mail.

Seems to work, but I didn't get the timeline signature picture at the end.
Maybe it's because of my username with the underscore => "IT_ler" ?!
Or do I have to wait after creating my timeline before the jpg will be made and provided?
This should be the link for my timeline signature picture:
[url=http://mowned.com/it_ler][img]http://mowned.com/sig/it_ler.jpg[/img][/url]
EDIT:
Now it's fixed and working fine !
It_ler, yeap it was the underscore, the route didn't know about it (only about "-") so an 404 error was triggered. Now it's fixed.
Thank you for the report!
Cool! just don't like the red ad
Thanks a lot anyway!
XxStatiX thanks, now the logo part is tweaked a bit. Indeed it was too bulky and took too much space. + now it can show up to 11 phones instead 10. Do you think it's ok now?
(if you see no changes you have to refresh the page to force a new fresh request - instead it will show from your browser cache)
Okay i'm checking it out! Is it your website?
Thank you.. and yes

Used your website.. nice.. can you make it stretchable? I mean to different size option for image..
Just a suggestion to improve.. its nice already.. thank you..
Sent from the MUST have app!
nitubhaskar thank you!
Now the image stretches horizontally (its width) automatically. Eg: if you owned only 3 phones no need to make it 500px long..
Thanks for giving me this idea. So your signature image is 324 x 80 instead 500 x 80.
That's what I could do at the moment. The signatures aren't customizable per user (at least ATM).
Yay its Fixed! Exactly what i wanted,Adding phones now! Wait
Thanksssss!

Wait im checking it here,Nice thanks! will spread the word.Like it!
Glad you like it and thanks for sharing!
Hi,
Now minimal information about most popular mobile phones (from mowned users input) is shown in main page of the site.
I'm thinking to add in near future an option for those who want only to generate signature images without creating an account. This data will not be merged with user phones database, so it will not help/affect the main statistics.
