S20 Speaker Call Issue - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hello All,
My apologies if this has been already asked and have been overlooked by me.
Anyone experience the output audio randomly switching between speakers when on a speaker call?
When I put a call on speaker, the speaker switches randomly.
Is this a known issue? If so, any fixes?

using the stock phone app? or other 3rd party apps?

Stock phone app

How long until that happens?
Does it happen in safe mode?
Try clearing system cache.
Clear associated apk caches then data if the former doesn't get it.
Do not reload as the problem if solved will only probably pop up again.

Tried the above suggestions. Nothing works. A bit frustrating paying a grand for a phone and this doesn't work among other things (google assistant doesn't respond and activates randomly, random home launcher switches.)

Do you have microsoft teams installed by any chance?

Negative. Teams is not installed. Bit surprised that not many are having this issue.

Speaker Phone has stopped working

Hi All,
Just the other day my speaker phone stopped working. I can hear the people I am calling, but the microphone doesn't seem to work. They cant' hear me. Not at all, it is like I have the phone muted-- but it is not.
Any body else with this? Any ideas, besides hard reset to try?
Thanks

There are loads of software apps that could interfere with sound, have you installed anything recently that you can remember?
have you applied any "tweaks" that you can remember.
Does it only happen when on speaker-phone or during normal calls.
It may be worth removing the back cover to make sure that nothing has interfered with the Mic Mute button on the rear of the device.
Give us some more info an I'll try to help further.
Cheers,
Beasty
Hi Beast0898
Here is a list of software that I have installed in the last 2 weeks:
CarlosP ToneManager
cRaCKwHoRe's Snooze options
merlot mToolbox
Shubaroo Contact Fix
tarkim Keyboard controller.
I had not used the speaker phone for a while. Not since I installed any of the above, so if it is a software interference, it could be any of the above. Ideas?
The mute button is not blocked. And it happens when I enter speaker phone by turning it upside down, and when enabling it with the button on the dialer.
Any ideas?
Did you get it to work? I've encountered a weird problem recently myself where suddenly all system sounds seem to stop, including dialing tones etc.. but if I let the phone go into speaker phone mode, that does work. I hang up the call and suddenly sounds are back.
It seems to only happen when I use Groovefish and/or Nitrogen, so I wonder if one of those is causing some weirdness, just haven't pinned it down yet.
if this is the same bug I had on mine, you can either toggle the speaker phone button twice or do this:-
There is an easy workaround for this problem. On your Touch Pro 2 go to the home screen. Slide to the "Settings" tab. Tap the "Menu" softkey and choose "All Settings". Tap "Personal" then "Phone". Open the "Advanced" tab and change "Reduce noise in phone calls" to "Never".

Speaker goes to call speaker after single microphone use [HELP PLEASE]

So I've been browsing the forums trying to look for anyone with a similar issue but to no avail. Now I'm not sure if this issue pertains to CM9 but I've noticed that ever since I've flashed RC1 or a later nightly, every app that uses the microphone reverts the phone speaker to call speaker. This is highly irritating as I have to put my ear to the phone every time I want to hear say, music, notifications etc. I usually reset this by plugging in a pair of headphones and then taking it back out, however the problem still persists every time I use the mic. This does not happen during calls so that's fine.
I am quite certain that this isn't hardware related because it only happens after using the microphone through some app and resets itself using the headphone workaround or a reboot. Again, I don't know if this is a singled out issue or if it pertains to the phone or the latest CM9 ROM.
Any help would be appreciated.
So after updating to RC2 and then again to the latest Nightly (20120802) I still have no luck with my loud speaker and my call speaker. To test this I usually use the Tune Me app and mess around with it and record some things but after using the app, instead of playing through the loud speaker like its supposed to, it plays audio through the call speaker.
Also, when I previewed CM10 and was playing around with Google Now with voice the same thing occurred. I don't know if there's a conflicting issue with some apps I've installed or something that installing the ROM did but any form of support would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Microphone doesn't work during calls with stock app

If I make or recieve a call with the stock sony call app, the other party can not hear me unless I switch to speaker. I tried with different people, it's always the same.
However, if I use google hangouts for calls the both the microphone and the spaker work just fine.
If I record a voice message in Whatsapp, the microphone works but is really low.
If I use Trackid for a song the microphone doesn't work again.
This has only started a few weeks ago and I can't find any solution on my own. Anyone has an idea what the problem could be?
I already tried safe boot and factory reset, it stays the same. I am really confused as it only happens in a few apps while working fine in others.
Thanks in advance!
Just blow some air into the microphone. I also have this problem

That didn't work :/
But thank you for your answer
I submitted my zl in service centre for 25 days and they do nothing , always keep saying that parts are coming. Finally I ask them to give it to me without replacing the microphone as i have to go somewhere, Finally I factory reset my phone use a pin, cotton and and some water in the microphone then blown some air And it WORKED. So most probably its the dirt. For your hangouts working it might be your phantasm.

N5X voice call problems - my voice severely muted / garbled for other party

Nexus 5X, Stock 8.1.0 with security patch level 5 April 2018.
If I make or receive a call, the other party cannot hear me, my voice is severely muted and garbled. I've tested this by leaving messages on my home phone and all suffer from exactly this.
Now the microphone itself seems to be fine - WhatsApp voice messages are perfectly clear, I installed a voice recorder app to check and the recordings are good. Google voice searches also work fine.
I've done a factory reset. I've uninstalled updates to the Google Phone app. I've swapped SIMs. I've tried alternative dialers. I've turned on/off 2G /3G /4G. But my voice calls are always rubbish.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on or suggestions as to what else to try?
Thanks!
Hi
I'm just visiting here with the same problem. I've been getting complaints about call quality from my end for a little while and it's driving me mad trying to be heard, often it starts off okay, then degrades rapidly after a few minutes, other times its from the start of the call. I've done the same as you, the mic tests fine in other apps, and sometimes it works okay. I did a complete factory reset which did seem to improve things but the problems returned, and no, I hadn't added any apps in between it working and going back to being terrible.
I've also tested calling my home answer phone and leaving a message to see what people are complaining about, and it is just constant drop outs. This happens over Wi-Fi calling, and over the network (EE network/UK), so it's not a reception problem. I've also used a plug in headphones with microphone and it's the same problem.
I really didn't want to buy another device at this time, but to me it's looking like a hardware problem.

Phil

Before I did the factory reset I had tried turning off noise reduction in the build.prop as recommended to try but it made no difference.
It sounds to listen too as though it's a faulty connection, and I'm thinking now this might be related to the reboot loops caused by connection problems, and this has the same cause, broken connections on the main chip. It's odd the sound is okay when recording sound or video, however that might simply be because the sound is being routed and processed elsewhere, and it's only when it's compressed for a call and routed via the Qualcomm modem that it's affected by a faulty connection. This would explain why sometimes for me it is okay, or starts of on a call okay then as the phone warms up the connection starts breaking.

Hi
I've now upgraded to a Pixel XL 2 as I needed to be able to be heard on calls and the 5X was out of warranty and LG didn't want to know. I really didn't want to upgrade quite so soon. The XL with the same SIM card on the same mobile network is all good and everyone can hear me, plus I have the benefit of VoLTE.
I believe the microphone problem is hardware related, most likely the same cause as the boot loop issues where the CPU or board has some broken solder connections. It sounds like a broken connection, and explains why it has progressively become worse. It's a pain as usually when I upgrade my phone gets handed over to another family member, but I can't do that with the broken 5X.

Xt1922-6 Mic and Key Presses Not Heard

I have a Verizon branded model XT1922-6. A little over a week ago I was attempting to set up Google Family Link on my phone, and the Google rep who called couldn't hear me. No one can hear me, not even with speakerphone on. Even the number presses during a call don't give sound on the other end, only light static.
I have dabbled in removing unwanted apps through ADB, but a factory reset hasn't resolved the issue. I CAN, however, dictate through Gboard and record voice memos just fine. Using an external earbud and mic work just fine as well. I highly doubt there is a hardware issue. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.

The permissions for Google apps are incorrect. Motorola screwed up is the problem. The Sprint variant has a problem with the keyboard sound not working after a reboot for the same reason. You have to manually toggle the preference to make it work again every time. You'll have to wait for an OTA.
Which Google app permissions, exactly? Do I need to allow them through system settings, or the Google app itself?

I'm referring to the permissions found in /system/etc/permissions not the ones found in settings.
