I left my redmi note 5 on charger and I slept, next morning the screen was flickering , then it shows a black screen, after restarting the phone, it worked for a little while, then it shows different colors which appears as columns (picture attached), the phone physical state is perfectly fine, it wasn't dropped at all and the screen is in a perfect state too.
I was running Android 10 MIUI 12 ported from redmi note 7, I tried to flash original firmware, and a different rom, but nothing changed, so the issue is not related to the software.
My question is:
Can I find any member here who faced the same issue and knows what happened to the screen? Any hardware expert here can tell me what might be damaged inside the hardware?
Thanks in advance.

What part of the screen exactly?
I don't have much information about hardware related issues, so I don't know what is happening here, I see light coming from the screen even when there is nothing but a black screen, and when I reboot to recovery it starts to show different colors (like the previously attached picture).

The thing is that, your screen is damaged. I can say this because you said the screen turned on but there is no picture showing up. Replace the main screen in service center buddy

So, recently my One X (EU version, endeavoru) begin showing some problems, as outlined below. It was the newest stable CM (10.3) and a somewhat older version of CWRM. After the problems showed, I managed to upgrade to the latest CWRM and CM. Here's the problem:
- When I tried to unlock my phone, the screen stayed black, so I reset the phone.
- When it started up, the HTC logo looked fine, but the CM logo was shifted down and banded: the top of the circle was visible on the bottom of the screen and the bottom of the circle on top of the screen. After that logo the screen turned black.
- It DID boot though, as I could feel the haptic feedback when trying to unlock, and I could hear the sounds of making a screenshot (power+vol down).
- After some resetting etc I finally got an image of the screen again, and saw that I moved some widgets around, so the touch screen def. works when the screen was black.
- I wanted to make sure it was a hardware problem, so I did a total wipe (factory/dalvik) and flashed a new recovery. This worked, but a few times when working in recovery the image froze. I'm not sure if the recovery crashed and did not respond to input, or that the screen just froze, as CWRM only has visual feedback.
- I managed to install the latest CM, tried it, it worked, and then the screen showed some green lines, and a slight shift upwards (the top rows of the status bar showed at the bottom), and I couldn't do anything anymore as far as I could tell.
- The bootloader also showed some problems: the letters were enlarged and overlapped while the image was also smeared across the screen.
Now, basically my question is: can I be sure this is a hardware problem? HTC will fix it if that's the case, but otherwise I will have to be a bunch of money for nothing, because then they will pin the problem on the custom software/firmware/recovery installed. However, I don't think any of the firm/software can actually influence the bootloader, am I right? So if there are problems with the bootloader, it cannot be the case that something I installed on the phone causes the problem.
i think what u have there is Screen Flickering ,, and it's due to a hardware problem ,,someone had the same problem and he had to replace the screen and the motherboard !!!
again am not sure !!

Thanks! I searched for one x screen flicker and found a video that showcased my problem perfectly:
youtube.com/watch?v=BfnwMFtD2_A
One of the comments said that if they pressed the screen just below the HTC logo it worked again (temporary), and I could reproduce this on my phone. Now I have no doubt at all it's a hardware issue, and I will contact HTC for repairs!
I'm having a somewhat weird issue with my ACE 2's display. When I turn it on, the screen went blank (not black) but blank, everything still runs but the display isn't showing anything. And by blank I mean the background is kinda like the one in CWM recovery but without the logo. Right now, all i can do to solve this is by removing the battery and turn the phone back on.
I'm hoping someone is also having this problem and have a better solution to it.
PS : My friends say that it's a hardware problem but I don't think so.

everything started when i droped a phone. the screen get something i called a dirty layer over screen. it does not change whatever rom i flashed so it is hardware issue. the problem responding to a brightness slider sometimes when im leaving phone over night it has that layer in all brightness slider spots and for about 5 minutes of using phone this layer gone when i moving slider to 80-90 % of brightness. i opened the phone checked and clean lcd connection and the problem remains.
i have not spare lcd or mainboard to checked so i need if someone recognise that problem and what is it.

Hey y’all
So my phone fell two weeks ago from about 3 feet after a bad hand off as I was showing a pic to someone.
It already had fallen and only suffered a crack along the outer screen from the first fall, but this second drop cracked the inner screen and rendered the lcd useless.
I was still able to turn it off and on, as well as increase/decrease the volume, but screen was showing blue streaks until I just turned it off.
I reset the phone to no avail and eventually got a new replacement screen and frame from witrigs and was able to get the phone into recovery. I wiped the cache and was able to finally get past the boot screen (which displayed fine) but then immediately goes black as it loads up the main OS.
The screen can sense my finger and the touchscreen vibrates when I touch it as if the unlock number pattern screen would appear on the screen but, the screen remains blacked out.
I can turn the volume up and down, power button works fine. I can access twrp and it shows the full screen on the display, but once the OS tries to load the screen blacks out while otherwise functioning as it should.
I checked all of the connections and they’re all good, no loose ends or incorrectly inserted or disjointed pieces, I just can’t get a visual right when the os loads up.
Any ideas if this is hardware/software based? Doesn’t make sense that the screen shows up fine during the initial boot then goes black during the os boot and everything but the screen functions as normal. Thanks

Which rom/kernel you on? You can try another kernel and check
I think I was in resurrection remix 5.8.2. I mostly care about my files but if I can still use the phone that would be ideal.
Just tried flashing the rom I had on before (rr remix n 5.3.5 20180612 release), then dalvik and cache wipe, with the same result. Thanks to anyone that replies and has some insight! Been going on two weeks since my phone was initially dropped to replacing the screen to this! Grrr

Sometimes there is a drivers issue on replacement of screen. Try OOS and see if it works. Atleast for some people, OOS solved the issue.

Thanks. Should I try a newer more recent oos or one closer to the oos I had installed? Does it matter?
I would ideally like to get back to where my phone was, but if I can’t I’m content with starting over if it means I’ll have a functioning phone.

Recent OOS can be tried. There is no link between what OS you had and the OOS you are flashing.
Hope you succeed!
had similiar problems, replaced my screen was using custom roms too i found out cheap screens dont work properly and the only way around this for me was to install caesuim latest kernel cause my screen use to stay black after the screen went to sleep until i installed that kernel works great now

Hello everyone as the title suggests there seems to be a green dot on my phone near middle and a little to left like a dead pixel but the problem is that it only appears on lock screen and only appears if the background is black, however as soon as i unlock it, the dot is gone like its never there in the first place and as soon as I lock the screen its back and again gone when I unlock it. So is this a software issue or a hardware issue? And if its hardware is the warranty still applicable? No changes to software has been done phone is completely original. Thank you for time.
Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ossibussoftware.deadpixeltest
test app and test it on black screen
If the dot is there you have dead pixel

Thank you for your reply did the test twice and couldn't find a dead pixel any where but the dot is still there in lock screen and vanishes magically as soon as i unlock it. What could be the possible problem?
May be the wallpaper

That's the problem, I've tried multiple different wallpapers, its still there. The only thing of interest I've noticed is that it appears only on wallpapers with black background and if that specific spot is black if the color is different then it doesn't appear. I've tried a wallpaper with white background and there was no sign of the dot being there.

it's not dead pixel, it's stuck pixel. Different than dead pixel, stuck pixel means your phone pixel is alive not dead but stuck on 1 color. People said it can be repaired by using application that repeatedly changing color of your screen. So it can be repaired, but I can give no promise that you will succeed, but you can try it.

Thanks you for your reply, I'll try that the only thing bothering me is that its only on lock screen it vanishes as soon as I unlock the screen. Shouldn't this be in home screen as well if its a stuck pixel? as the wallpaper is exactly the same?

I've tried a lot to capture it on the camera of iPhone x but cant as its the size is of a tip of the needle and its mostly visible on the lowest possible brightness it fades as i increase the brightness but its still there and completely disappears as soon as i unlock it. I'll try again tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to catch it.
After you unlock it the background image is also totally black?
Try using a totally black image on bot the lockscreen and home screen and check if it also happens.

Yes the image is totally black and I've tried a completely black image as wallpaper as well, It still happens the dot is there on lock screen and poof gone as soon as I unlock it like it was never there in the first place. What do you think is this a software issue or a hardware? Should I wait till Android 10 is released to see it goes after that or should I claim my warranty right now?

I think you should take it to a Samsung service centre first if there is one near you if not, may as well do a warranty complaint since it's an issue with the device.

Thank you for your reply and apologies for my late reply got busy with my uni so didn't had much time for other stuff. Just wanted to add during this period I found a way to make the dot go away and that was by removing the fingerprint security for some reason it went away like it was never there lol. This is one strange phone. I'll take it to a service center after this semester cant manage to make time to take it to one and it still has 8 months of warranty left..

I have the same exact issue on my galaxy a53. Has it been fixed with any update or it's just a hardware issue?
