Green dot on my a month old phone - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone as the title suggests there seems to be a green dot on my phone near middle and a little to left like a dead pixel but the problem is that it only appears on lock screen and only appears if the background is black, however as soon as i unlock it, the dot is gone like its never there in the first place and as soon as I lock the screen its back and again gone when I unlock it. So is this a software issue or a hardware issue? And if its hardware is the warranty still applicable? No changes to software has been done phone is completely original. Thank you for time.

Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ossibussoftware.deadpixeltest
test app and test it on black screen
If the dot is there you have dead pixel

Thank you for your reply did the test twice and couldn't find a dead pixel any where but the dot is still there in lock screen and vanishes magically as soon as i unlock it. What could be the possible problem?

May be the wallpaper

That's the problem, I've tried multiple different wallpapers, its still there. The only thing of interest I've noticed is that it appears only on wallpapers with black background and if that specific spot is black if the color is different then it doesn't appear. I've tried a wallpaper with white background and there was no sign of the dot being there.

it's not dead pixel, it's stuck pixel. Different than dead pixel, stuck pixel means your phone pixel is alive not dead but stuck on 1 color. People said it can be repaired by using application that repeatedly changing color of your screen. So it can be repaired, but I can give no promise that you will succeed, but you can try it.

Thanks you for your reply, I'll try that the only thing bothering me is that its only on lock screen it vanishes as soon as I unlock the screen. Shouldn't this be in home screen as well if its a stuck pixel? as the wallpaper is exactly the same?

A picture of your phone display with the green dot would be good for anyone to help you. Try to share if you can.

I've tried a lot to capture it on the camera of iPhone x but cant as its the size is of a tip of the needle and its mostly visible on the lowest possible brightness it fades as i increase the brightness but its still there and completely disappears as soon as i unlock it. I'll try again tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to catch it.

After you unlock it the background image is also totally black?
Try using a totally black image on bot the lockscreen and home screen and check if it also happens.

Yes the image is totally black and I've tried a completely black image as wallpaper as well, It still happens the dot is there on lock screen and poof gone as soon as I unlock it like it was never there in the first place. What do you think is this a software issue or a hardware? Should I wait till Android 10 is released to see it goes after that or should I claim my warranty right now?

I think you should take it to a Samsung service centre first if there is one near you if not, may as well do a warranty complaint since it's an issue with the device.

Thank you for your reply and apologies for my late reply got busy with my uni so didn't had much time for other stuff. Just wanted to add during this period I found a way to make the dot go away and that was by removing the fingerprint security for some reason it went away like it was never there lol. This is one strange phone. I'll take it to a service center after this semester cant manage to make time to take it to one and it still has 8 months of warranty left..

I have the same exact issue on my galaxy a53. Has it been fixed with any update or it's just a hardware issue?

[Q] Blank screen although phone working

One of our HTC Desire's screen is no longer displaying although the phone is on, the buttons at the bottom are lit, it receives calls and you can even answer them by swiping your finger from top to bottom. I have tried removing the battery and also memory card and SIM but to no avail. I am currently leaving it dismantled for an hour or so to see if that helps. If I don't find the solution from posts on this thread I will reluctantly try a hard reset before calling HTC in the morning. Googling 'blank screen' I can see that others have had this problem however I have not come across a solution yet. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

How did your phone reach this state? What were you trying to do? Where are you from? Is the phone branded/unbranded? Is it an SLCD/AMOLED? Which ROM's on it? Preliminary qns..

The handset screen just went blank whilst trying to make a call. It rang a couple of times last night (screen still blank) and I actually managed to answer one call by swiping my finger down the screen. UK based handset on Orange with stock Froyo. I have no idea what type of screen the Desire has.....the same as everyone else? It's beeping at me now as I type to remind me of a calendar appointment
Very unlikely to be a software issue then. Better have it looked over at service. I'm guessing your display will need to be changed.

[Q] HELP! White lines on black screen HTC Desire CM7

A few days ago I succesfully (at least I thought so..) flashed my Desire to Cyanogenmod 7 using Amon-ra and it worked perfectly, until today out of nowhere my screen is black with a couple of white lines from top to bottom. One minute it worked as normal, and a couple of minutes later when I pressed the top button to unlock it, the screen was all weird. The touch functions of the screen seem to work as normal, I can unlock the screen, shut it down, power it up, enter my pin etc (blindly) but I see only the vertical lines so it's hard to check what's going on. I do see that the lines "move" when something changes on the screen, like when I unlock it, I see that the screen does react on it, but only some lines appear, move or disappear. For the rest, the sound works as normal when I turn op the volume, as does the vibrating.
I have a PVT4 S-on (thats all I remember) if it makes any difference.
Picture is from a camera, not a screenshot. Looks a bit yellow or so but the background is black, and the lines are white.
Does anyone know what it caused and what I can do to fix it? Maybe reset it or reflash it someway?
Many thanks in advance!!
Where's the picture?
You might want to give HTC a ring.
Request from puntchiel, a picture of his mobile phone:

Hm I forgot the picture, my friend len posted a link for me, for Im not yet able to do that cauz Im a nub
Thx len!
Yeh, send it to HTC or your carrier. It looks so ****ed
Well, sending it back and profiting from my insurance is my last option cuz I wont have it back for at least a month. Does anyone know what it could have caused or what could be a way to solve this highly annoying thing? I can't imagine that it is a hardware problem that occured this sudden... And the screen is reacting to my input but it only shows the frikkin lines! So I hope that it is a software problem. I just have no idea how to solve it, so thats why I'm asking the pro's on this forum
And btw, if I'm sending it back I need to make sure that they don't find out of the custom software on my device. That leaves me only two options I quess, fixing it or completely smashing it... So if someone at least knows how to use a RUU or something via my PC (without having to use the screen of my desire), your help is very much appreciated!!!

Ohh yeah thats helpful; i am sure he did not think to contact htc himself
That picture recalls bad experience with my ex Nokia 5800xm. I had to replace display.
Maybe it is not same case but it looks same.
I have exactly the same problem, flashed cm7 on my desire a few months ago.
Worked all fine.
Then yesterday all of a sudden i had a black screen with white lines.
Maybe you, puntchiel, have found any sollution?
I'm sorry Hanswurst, I had my ensurance company pick up my device and they replaced the screen, so I asume it was a hardware problem. I wish I could help you buddy. Good luck with it!

[Q] samsung galaxy nexus screen random touch points near controls

so I purchased my Samsung galaxy nexus in September 2012, in Feb I unlocked the boot loader and loaded on 4.2.1, this allowed my phone to get over the air updates.
Now recently I have this annoying problem with the screen, the bottom half of the screen randomly touches areas of the screen as the main back home and recently opened apps buttons are there they are continuously pressed and makes the phone extremely unusable. I did the soft reset a few times but this still happens, I've even loaded the 4.2.2 again but it still happens. Is there anything else I can do to try sort this out? is it possible its a screen issue? sorry if this has been posted before I did watch the noob video and I did try look but couldn't find one similar to my problem.
go back to stock unlocked and see how the works

[Troubleshoot] Screen Not Working (Please Help, Phone getting useless)

I have 2 years old OneX. Everthing was going fine. And suddenly I started to have some yellow spots on the screen at two places. I ignored them. Then problem increased. Now whenever I unlocked the phone my screen used to jump around. Like bottom portion of the display used to come at top etc etc. And their were pink glitches everywhere black colour was supposed to come (i.e. black color appeared pink).
I changed the rom to see if it solved the problem. Now, its getting worse.
Now i cant turn the screen on. I push power button and screen does not show. I get a call and screen does not light up and I randomly push the accept button (I know where accept button comes) to recieve the call. :crying:
The only way to make the screen come alive is by pressing the back of the phone. I push the back few times here and there and voila, screen comes on. But thats not the solution. I tried to locate the exact position where pressing the back makes the screen work. But cant locate it. Location is random.
So should I open my phone to check if there is any faulty cable or what ? Or is my phone dying ? I cant afford a new phone.. :crying:
If you don't have warranty you can open it up. It's already almost not working anyway so what's there to loose ? Maybe it's just a connector which needs a little push....maybe it's the display + digitizer/mainboard.

I've just received my phone today and the same problem occurs here.
Dunno if there's a way to revive it.
Finally i succeeded in reviving my green pixel with Dead pixel detect and fix on playstore.

how did you do it?
I just used the color menu to show the primary colors where the flaw pixel was.
Then, i tapped the fix it button. It cycled quickly the primary colors for 30 minutes and that was enough to revive my stuck pixel.
It's said that such a stuck pixel may come back after a while. I will see if my fix last. If not, i will redo the operation again.

Dead pixel-free except a bit light leakage at top.

It might mean that your pixel is definitively dead or stuck. I dunno, maybe i'm lucky.
