Little black Andy draining my battery? - Moto G8 (Moto G Fast) Questions & Answers

Hello all. Anyone else seen the sudden appearance of a little black Android icon sucking all their battery? It just suddenly appeared and now my phone battery won't last a day. I made a change about the time it appeared; set my SD as internal. I'm just wondering if that's the culprit... Formatting sd as internal.
EDIT: I'm running stock RETUS from Lolinet.

[Q] Weird reactions with low battery?

Dear friends,
Since a few days I am using Oxygen 2.0.1. I really like this rom and it almost works without bugs. There is only one thing I really don't understand.
When my battery is full my phone is really fast and reacts normal. But when I got the "battery voltage alarm" about 15% there is something really strange. when my battery is lower than 15% my phone is hanging and isn't responding at all, or with black screens. If I am unlocking my phone (without unlocking animation, that hangs to) and going to the homescreen I see a black screen. With a few random button clicks I am finally seeing my homescreen again (yeah!). After that it's not possible to edit the homescreen, or edit the homescreen with buttons. If I am going to the preference with a low battery the preferences are hanging to with a black screen.
Is there someone else with the same problem I have?
When I installed Oxygen 2.0.1 I first wiped my phone (with Amon_Ra), and created a ext4 partiton on my SD card. (500 mb, 0 SWAP, @HTC Desire).
Can someone help me with this problem?
Probably Kernel (or apps like SetCPU) put a phone to "battery saving" state, undervolting and underclocking processor, it might cause such "issues".
Do you know how I can solve this, because it looks like I am the only one with this problem because I did not read about this yet. A friend of me has the same problem. Could it be Amon_Ra?
By the way, I am not using apps like SetCPU.

Battery life severely reduced!

Please can I get some assistance, I cannot for the life of me figure out what has happened.
LeeDroid 3.3 latest.
I have gone from 48h standby to 14h. During use it's depleted in a matter of hours, it's incredibly low in relativity to what I'm used to.
I was on LeeDroid 3.0.2 previously and battery life was VERY long, I loved it - going back to this version doesn't help and the battery issue remains, and therefore it also remains on the newest build.
Previously I was running a bucket load of apps/games with normal 50% brightness, I have resorted to deleting apps/keeping tasks closed but to no avail. The Statistics for battery usage seem to look similar to how it used to be before, with display taking up a large chunk.
I tried the battery trick today but it hasn't helped. My phone has already gone to 98% (40m uptime) with screen turned off + SetCPU set at powersave/lowest mhz while screen is off.
I hope you can help, Thanks.
This does happen sometimes, not sure what causes it but a wipe and reflash sorts it out for me.
What kernel are you using? Have you made any recent changes before massive drain started happening?
Try monitor the current using current widget. If it's normal, around 1-4ma during standby, perhaps, your battery need calibrated. If it didn't resolve your problem, then, maybe the battery is dead.

I dont think this is the problem because when it happens to mine it just happens by itself after a few weeks of having the ROM installed with very few extra applications which I install immediately.
anyone know if the proximity sensor is classed under display? could be that thats stuck on. got any apps that use or used the proximity sensor? or maybe the touch screen is stuck on.
have you tried removing the SD card? see if its something on there.
Well I reinstalled Leedroid with the recommended rom and although the battery life is nowhere near what it was previously... its at a respectable 22h or so... enough to give me time to actually find a fix...
Theres no apps, nothing, just the rom and its apps so I will try it without SD card also, i dont understand how to check for proximity sensor though
Thanks

[Q] sd card battery drain

SDcard show up under battery, surprising since there is no sd card in a galaxy nexus..
Anybody know what's going wrong or how to stop the battery drain ??
I've had this exact same issue! It happened at the same time as my other issue of app sizes continuing to climb upwards and the phone getting laggier in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715363
I just resorted to a factory reset, which resolved the problem. Sorry I can't be of much help, as I still have no idea what the issue is, but it was definitely taking a noticeable toll on my battery life.

I would be concerned of what you have installed on your device, that it is calling itself sdcard.
Nexus internal sdcard is mostly named just sdcard, but this is first time i see it in battery stats. Maybe it's some bad app? Maybe you should uninstall apps one by one and see if it's go away.

Nexus does not have an internal sdcard and symlinks cannot use battery so I would say its an app.

I mean that 16gb internal storage which is called sdcard in most apps. And i know that it can't be in battery stats, that's why i said it's an app.
Same problem, a solution without having to do a factory reset?
Anyone come up with a solution here?
So I'm guessing the lack of responses in this thread (and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792361&highlight=sdcard+battery) means no one has any idea why SDcard usage would be so high?
Maybe it is not the amount of power that sd card uses, it is amount of power that the phone uses to read the sd card. If you did lots of things that needs reading from sd card, battery show that kind of information. Some program with wrong commands may couse this

Thats what I figured but there shouldnt be anything thats accessing it, especially overnight in sleep mode, the SDcard has more CPU usage time than any other app, by a landslide.
Have you looked at your running apps? (Settings>Apps>Running)
Maybe you can find out what app may be running called "sdcard".
Sounds a bit fishy. While there is no physically removable SD card, the phones internal memory is partitioned so you have some space which is recognized as the 'sdcard'.
In any case I've never seen anything like that in my battery drain, and even if there was, it definitely shouldn't be draining those amounts while the phone is idle..

I've gone through them but can't seem to figure out whats going on...i've also run logcat but that hasnt turned up any useful info either.
And when you press on sdcard under the battery usage, what screen shows up? Does it say it's an app? Could you provide a screen shot?

Here are screenshots from my battery usage, after clicking on the app, and my build info. I've got the same thing and its completely eating my battery life. This was within 1 hour of use.
This just started happening to my galaxy nexus -- no idea why?
GSAM Battery Monitor shows System (sdcard) running at 17% and its really affecting battery life, I can actually watch the number drain by the minute.
I am not looking to do a factory reset again and I am running Bugless Beast 4.1.1 rom and have been for about 2 months now and never had this problem, anyone have any idea what could cause this?
Just started happening to me today. I just installed lookout so I hope that is the problem. Just uninstalled it to see if that was the culprit.
I'm 100% certain Google Music is causing mine.
Mine always says sdcard and media are the processes running that are eating my battery.
I can reboot and fix the issue, temporarily, but as soon as I play Google Music it starts back. I'm going to clear data and cache (for Google Music only). Now that I think about it this has been happening since Google Music's last update ~1 month ago.
I'm running the latest Trinity kernel and RasBeanJelly, but this happened while on Bugless Beast as well, so it's not a kernel/ROM issue either.

Maybe is battery wrong.
There may be a hardware issue. Did you bring it to the Samsung service? You might get a replacement...

Lollipop battery drain

Yesterday I installed LP and I've had a major issue. Battery drain. During normal use the bottom half near the SD and sim card heats up but the rest if the phone is normal. I've gone through privacy guard and went through just about every app and shut down the problem ones like Google play services with little to no results. Ivreally love lp and any ideas to help me out would be great
