Do you think most of the bugs will be cleared out by the end of the year? Also, which kdz should I use if I want band 71 support?

I don't know anything about the bugs, but for b71 2 of the roms have it; US OP Pie (no Q yet) and KR OP which is Korean Open (Q version available) has b71 also.
cheers

I was thinking it might be possible to grab the modem partition from sprint or unlocked pie and write them over before installing this ROM. Would that work, or would it be incompatible?

I'm not sure, have not tried that. I've read others suggesting the same thing but don't know if they've had success with it. I'd bet it wouldn't as there are so many threads, in various model phones, about which rom supports which bands. If that problem could be resolved by simply using the modem partition from a diff rom, it happening would almost certainly be common knowledge and many threads with various modem partitions available, but there aren't.

Ended up trying it and it prevents boot to system and recovery. I replaced all 4. modemst1,modemst2,modem_a,modem_b
I think we'll have to wait for them to make Q for v405qa unlocked.
I used v405ebw with lineage 18. VoLTE and VoWiFi aren't supported, which basically makes Mint Mobile unusable except for data.

I'd suggest another option, as 405qa Q arrival is ???, use the korean open 30e. That's what I have. One mod makes it quite workable; copy the US Open /OP partition (from Pie) and use it instead of the KR Open partition. Everything works, including vowifi and volte. And it does get b71. There's only 1 other small change needed to get vowifi to work.
It's very solid and haven't had any trouble with it at all. Something to consider.

I just found out that a great deal of work can be done with Cellular Support via the Qualcomm PDC tool.

Can you link the Korean open download? Also, what is the small change for VoWiFi?

Yes it's on this link. It's at the top of the list, the KR Open, 30e is the last one in the beginning section.
The other change is minor, have to enter the service menu with the dial code and it's one of the SVC (iirc) fields you have to enable vowifi. I can find it if you decide to do it.
There's a little 'trick' u need to do when cross flashing, to avoid the 'NT_Error' thing when u first boot up. It doesn't cause a problem, it's just annoying. Just after doing a partition DL of the rom, let it boot of course, to finish. Then shut it off, don't touch anything. Then use LG up and do a refurbish with same rom. No more nt-error code thing.
Also, even though the firmware page (above) doesn't indicate it, that rom does have b71. I have a screen shot of the phone using lte discovery connected to b71 on that rom. It's there.

This is after flashing the Korean Open version. I'm not sure what to do. I made sure USB Debugging was on and changed the driver to the official LGE one, but no luck.

I tried everything on google. Still no luck.

You should get fastboot working via 9008 guide (I suggest not to wipe lafs on both slots), then fastboot TWRP.

If you install this apk (only on los), it will allow you to switch to the other side and reboot recovery. It's hard coded (I changed the original file) to boot to recovery after you select the other slot. Did it for the exact situation you're experiencing.

Hello forum!
I have LG LM-V405QA and would like to have a ROM flashed that removes all Google everything. I have flashed ROMs in the past, but have already spent too much time researching with no results. I am in California, USA.
This is a serious inquiry. Please help.
Thank you.

E980 Modem / Baseband Saga, Consolidated. (Paging MadMack/devs?)

I've spent a bunch of time trying to understand why the modem in a particular E980 doesn't work in Cyanogenmod 12. Others should benefit from my efforts.
Searching reveals several posts about the modem issue, but quite a few of the responses are either links or references that require significant background to understand.
The community consensus is that one must flash "madmack's modem" when using CM with the E980 & variants. Without it, many phones can't enter deep sleep and thus drain the battery. Others can't use the modem at all.
(Madmack's modem post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430456)
(Current source of CyanogenMod 12.1: http://www.cyanogenmodroms.com/2014/01/cyanogenmod-rom-lg-optimus-g-pro.html)
"Madmack's modem" is the image for the BM9615A-CEFWMAZM-3.0.113012. Some users had a driver for a CM9615A[...] variant instead. For those users, flashing the BM9615A driver allowed the phone to go into deep sleep. Hooray!
---
Unfortunately, other E980 owners have a completely different modem: the APQ8064/MDM 9x15M. In this case, flashing the BM9615A file doesn't help.
If your modem appeared as an APQ8064/MDM9x15M on stock, it appears as the BM9615A upon flashing CM12. Unfortunately, its still an APQ8064 on the inside. This makes it seem like CM 12.1 is hard-coded to the BM9615A modem. When CM tries to speak BM9615A-ese to an APQ8064, the result is "No Sim" (or rather intermittently detecting and dropping the SIM).
Flashing the BM9615A image on an APQ8064 doesn't help -- the modem can't understand itself. CM and the modem firmware may speak the same language, but the image that runs the modem isn't right for the hardware.
At least, thats what I think is happening. I would appreciate it if someone with experience could please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.
Until someone finds a way around this, those people whose modem is APQ8064/MDM9x15M on stock may want to hold off on trying the available roms. Most are based on CyanogenMod and thus can be expected to have the same problem.
I wrote this post both to consolidate information and to ask for help. Does anyone have a way of getting an E980 with a APQ8064/MDM9x15M to work with CM 12.1?
(Note: Tried Emmanuel's wild kernel. Didn't help.)
No custom ROM changes (or should change) change your modem firmware, so neither should you unless told to do for your variant.
That specific modem was for AT&T variant of G Pro and many people who upgraded to stock kitkat and then tried to flash anything else, required it. No other variant should ever use that modem - if the need arises, just reflash back to last available jellybean stock firmware.
If you have deep sleep issues on any other variant but E980, just revert your phone to stock jellybean and flash whatever you want. Never had any modem-related deep sleep issues with Jellybean base, while with kitkat base there were some issues in KK roms, but not later... that I remember. I've used E988, built ROMs and kernels for it so I should kind of know
No SIM issues were solved later in 2015? if I'm not wrong. It was just a change in LGE RIL subclass, required after cyanogenmod updated their telephony framework.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess I'm not understanding things well. How would one change the LGE RIL subclass appropriately, assuming a move from stock JB to CM 12.1 without any modem flashing?

Thanks. That does seem to make the SIM work, but with a couple of quirks.
Tapping "build number" repeatedly doesn't activate developer options. Has this been moved?
Also, the usual root method seems to be disallowed and SuperSU disappears after being installed.

SuperSU should be available via Settings menu (if something hasn't changed with newer versions) and Developer mode is on by default if I remember correctly, if not, taping on build number 7 times should tell you 'you're a developer now' and enable it.
Intended a direct reply. See below.

Thank you for your reply and the work that you have put into making this device usable.
Developer mode normally lives under Settings-> System. The Feb 6 2016 SlimLP build includes "Date & Time", Accessibility, Printing, Kernel Auditor, Check for Updates and About Phone.
Was developer mode moved somewhere else?
Naturally, I've tried tapping "build number" many times. I don't get the usual "almost a developer" and "you are now a developer" response sequence.

It should be somewhere near the end of settings menu, nowhere else. I guess something got borked somehow, so you may want to reboot.
P.S. Use SlimLP build from 16.02.2016, it has some new things fixed, and refflash rebuilt kernel I've mentioned in SlimLP post.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, but let me make sure that I understand which one. There are two mirrors on the EOL thread: basketbuild & androidfilehost.
The newest build on basketbuild is 02072016. Androidfilehost has a 021816, however there is a note in the EOL thread that 021916 shouls be deleted because it doesn't work. Is that the same as 021816 or is 021616 really the same as 021616?
Sorry, I totally forgot that my mirrors are a bit different.
You should use this one (md5sum, it's the last stable build. Don't let date scheming confuse you, I've used kind of weird build system because my machine isn't as powerful as it's needed and builds sometimes take up to two days... nightmare. Later just flash kernel mentioned in the op over after the flash.
EDIT: You may want to drop SuperSU now or use some older version (before acquisition) and freeze it from updating.

The core items seem to be OK. I noticed a few odd items within the build. Since its been on an advertising host, I'd like to confirm that the file which you uploaded hasn't been modified. Could you please share your sha256 sum (md5 has been retired for a while now) for Slim-e980-5.1.1.beta.0.15-UNOFFICIAL-20160218.zip from your own hard drive?

Sorry, I had two hard drive failures in last year and a half so only copies I have are uploaded to AFH with their original MD5 sums (sum which site shows you is sum they are generating after upload; sum I've linked you is sum generated after file was created). You can compare these two if you need some reassurance, but files are uploaded by me and were used by me, too, so should be no issues if no server-side corruption happened.

My guess is this would work about like mod to the ROM still available on the T-Mobile LG G4 forum section, if you want a project. It is " LG_G6-PORT_H811 .zip" by TechnoFreak which is android 7.0. Look at second thread down that ends with my comment (@tullyp) and find MEGA link to zip. I fooled around with this rom extensively. I tested many changes to the build-prop,. I changed some of the files back to original G6 files that you can find in the expand ZIP. I was able to get it to actually work with CDMA 1xRTT voice and CDMA 3G (EV-DO). Could get it to work on Verizon LTE, but then CDMA would not work. Could get it to "show" Verizon's HD calling activation page, but would not activate. One thing I remembered helping was to flash a patch I found somewhere in XDA called patch_cdma_to_gsm_global_phones_v427_by_mentor.zip and set to CDMA only.
@tullyp
EDIT: This was posted just to give an altenative to ROM described in thread since the author said it is not available anymore and it never has had cell service on a vs986 anyway. There is a Korean 500 ROM in other threads also that will boot on our vs986, but like this on it is for an H815 and can't get service. Do not try any of these ROMs listed above on a vs986 unless you reflash vs986 MM USU modem before booting or could brick phone.

Thanks, but this thread about official 7 firmware from 815 ported to 986 board, with working NFC, GPay and else. I need exactly this ROM.

[ZIP] H930 to H932 ROM converter

On request, to easier find this, im creating this thread
For all the H932 users out there, who also want to use ROMs that dont provide support for it, but only for the H930, heres a little zip for you, which will allow you to fully use H930 ROMs on your H932.
What this zip does:
Replaces the necessary firmware files (list here (H930 tree, because the H932s list is somehow empty... gotta fix that later)) which are the only (important) difference.
This wont change the device fingerprint from H930 to H932 (maybe in a later version, who knows)
This is also ONLY intented for AOSP ROMs (LOS, RR, whatever else we have), do NOT use this on Stock based ROMs
How to use it:
1) Flash H930 ROM on your H932
2) Flash this zip
3) boot the system
This is NOT for H930/US998/and so on users!

thank you for thread (and link to thread) as it clears alot of confusion.

Tried it. And a bunch of pie based AOSP ROMs on rooted h932. They all boot fine but the modem bootstack doesn't match up. You won't get Wi-Fi on any pie ROM with h932 at the moment

Well, you need to ask in relevant threads. Or start a new thread in the Questions section. I see you finally posted in Frankenstein, which is helpful for what you need. I answered your question there.
In forums like this, people don't want irrelevant questions clogging their threads. This is a thread for T-Mobile H932 only and they couldn't care less about AS998.

Can you clarify what you mean with this? I used RR and this converter and wifi worked fine. Similarly I've used for a long time the Lineage specific H932 build and I also get wifi. However in my region (Norway) I get an "x" on the LTE, HSPDA, 3G (any bands really) signal bars that comes and goes. Sometimes data works - especially when connected to a VPN, but I've had no issue in any other country, just this one and I wonder if the 2 are related. Or am I clutching at straws? I had to give up on my H932 and go back to my old iphone (bluurgh) because I don't know what the issue is and I can't be working with unreliable data.

This literally does the same (relevant) changes to the ROM as when you would build H932 ROMs (the only difference are the few firmware files and the device fingerprint (unimportant))... so whatever issue you have, its not related to this

I honestly couldnt explain it any further than what I did
HOWEVER.
I decided to flash the LP ROM again, then the H930 to H932 converter, flash Magisk, and THEN the 20s Modem from a another topic and all my WiFi issues were cleared up.
so yes, in my particular case, I had to flash the ROM, and then the Modem in order to get Wi-Fi to work
Updated with the pie blobs from H932 30d. Zip is attached in the OP.
Does the same as for oreo, just with pie blobs and their location, so you shouldnt have any issues.

Is there more ROMs?

I recently purchased an tab S4 just an update from my previous Samsung tablet. I was wondering is there more ROMs for this tablet or ROMs currently in development? I noticed theres like 2 ROMs for this tablet. I have a note 8 and I'm currently running deluxerom on and it, and I really enjoy the tweaks and customization I'm able to do. I was looking for a same kind of feature for my tablet. Would greatly appreciate the answers I'm looking for. Thanks!

Pretty much zero support. You can get a few 9.0 GSI ROMs to boot, but they all have issues. Mine has been sitting around since it was purchased while still using my old 2014 model.

Aww no way!? Really? I excitingly got this tablet cause of the features and thought perhaps there would be amazing ROMs for this particular tablet, but I guess not xD What are GSI ROMs? Also as a desperate attempt would other tablet ROMs work on this s4? Thanks mate!

I had thought the same thing, but it seems the S3 is the last tablet to get real support.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development
Some of the ones for 9 will work, but most features won't work too well, if at all.
You might be able to get another rom to work, I know I had no luck. Even trying ones with similar hardware, they all failed to even flash since the booting numbers are different.
Kind of have to be satisfied with Samsung, half baked custom roms or sell the thing.

Hey Veekay I tried it and you're right unfortunately I came across the same issue as you brother
Now I'm stuck and I need help sorting my device out, was wondering if you knew this issue or could help?
When I got the stock firmware back and then when I flash TWRP with odin after going into TWRP I get 0mb as internal
so when I format and then go back into my load up the screen after SAMSUNG says "verification failed" and then reset
on the bottom. I tried other options as well. Without even wiping on TWRP the devices boots up into the setup wizard for the firmware fine
but after I wipe TWRP so I can get access to my internal drive my samsung boots into that verification reset screen. Got any clue as to how I can
resolve this issue? Thanks a bunch!

Have you tried just reloading the latest stock firmware from scratch?
Yup, its unfortunate that there isn't much community support for this device. The Tab S4 is Project Treble supported and a few GSI ROMS do work. But as others have said they are unstable and not for use as a daily driver. We have a few discussion threads here talking about them.

Would that work? If I did that I would still be able to download and install TWRP and have a root? Because of it being PIE

Generic System Image (GSI) list :
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
you can try only "Android 9 Pie" official or unofficial gsi roms..
and remember ! Some GSIs roms maybe are not compatible with some devices! you can ask for your device on each thread
(for example look here): https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/issues/777
(usually this Gsi aosp 9 phh, generally works on most devices...BUT! ask first, and discuss it in the thread)

Sorry, but I don't understand what do you mean " without stock rom and only twrp"...
you can install a Gsi rom, with two ways
Via TWRP, or Via Fastboot : https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/ (Tab S4 is a-only arm64)
for any other question, it is better to ask in the thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...vice-development/aosp-9-0-phh-treble-t3831915
(read carefully in OP & you can post, every single question there for your device, and you will get certainly help from the developer or from any other user..)

You are going to have to just wipe it and start over from square one, unless you made a TWRP backup before starting all of this.
Download and flash the latest stock rom from recovery and then you can load twrp again.
I was looking at the possibility of using GSI's on some devices, and while they can offer new life to older devices, they're not entirely stable all the time unless you're willing to make your own changes. I know Lineage has made some excellent progress, but it's not fullproof yet and I wouldn't try it unless you're willing to not use your device as a daily use device.
I had an extra T-Mobile Revvlry which is basically a rebranded Moto g7 Play that I installed the Lineage GSI image and it works fairly well. However, this is more the exception to the rule and Moto devices, I feel, are far simpler in design vs certain Samsung devices. It also had a ton of trial and error involved for me to get it up and running properly.
Is it possible as the s4 becomes older, more people buy it and Samsung stops releasing official updates that someone will come along and create a ROM for it? Or is it more like Samsung locked the bootloaders and its close to impossible to write a ROM for it? Is it still possible to root the s4?

Thanks. I took a quick peak at the roms and kernels in the roms and kernels forum and they are pretty much all abandoned.
Someone did mention that the LOS 16.0 and ArrowOS GSI's work alright but are a bit buggy.

samsung, maybe at the end of july to give the upgrade to android 10....it is very likely to happen I think
yes,all Gsi Roms still have various problems unfortunately...
my opinion is: stay to stock rom for now....you can "uninstall" many applications if you want & without root, via "samsung package disabler"(paid) from playstore, or with this way:
https://beebom.com/how-remove-bloatware-android-without-root/
also, you can Install "NiceLock Downloader Companion App" ,to add some features on your device : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/themes/nicelock-module-download-links-module-t3923844
with this way I operate my device until now..

Check NT-Code: FFFFFF : 54 - but phone works OK......

Hi All,
I have a LG G710EMW, and I want to get android 10 on it. I live in UK so I flashed EU open rom onto this phone. Now everything appears to work fine, dual sim is working OK, I can call etc, but I get this error every time on startup.
I have read other threads - but they say they get no network, however my phone seems fine. Can I leave this rom or should I wait until brazil/hong hong/aus get android 10 and then flash? Also any idea when that will happen or it's already happened? Can you share the KDZ?

I tried the volte solution in guides section and also voenabler magisk module. They did not work for me. I have EMW.
I have shifted to lineages, so am not looking at the development in those threads anymore. Voenabler in lineage os only changed my LTE to LTE+.
Voenabler did work for someone in that thread maybe you can go to that thread and discuss or try on your phone.

I use the one by Josh.
For me it is stable. I don't use bluetooth, wireless charging, etc. so cannot comment on that.
I find this to be the best ROM out there for now. It has good battery and performance.
Basically you should be ready to experiment and see if you like it. If you want a fully stable phone, and no TIME to experiment, then I would advice you to stick to stock.

I had already read this guide, but I gave up as the code did not open any menus. Doing some research I found that the code varies by model (ends with 710#). However, unfortunately it does not work. I cannot modify the NT Code and with the 20b base firmware it returns NTCODE WRITE ERROR after edit it.
