So why 5g Ver does'nt have so much (stable enough)rom like 4g Ver does?
I even want to replace my 5G ver to 4G ...
Are you posing a philosphical question? Anyway, there are other resources that might have the ROMs you need. Some of them are not posted here because they might not be able to comply with XDA requirements, or because they want to maintain an alternate support channel. Hopefully more developers will get to own this phone and develop custom ROMs for it. In the meantime let us appreciate those devs who have shared their work here.

Generally speaking...if you buy a chef a great device (or the best device in this case) and it has root + rom flash image, then roms will follow.
Obviously this is not a demand, we would require Galaxy S owners' support and the chef's support, but if we think of people to approach, then we can ask and if they're cool with it we'll start fundraising.
Anyone got any ideas who they'd like to cook and the I'll edit this post with a link to that chef's donation link and we can get this thing rolling.
Short list:
-Kingklick (my recommendation)
Any other ideas? I won't start pledges until we're settled on a chef.
Please Take My Name out Of this...
I do Not Support this at all..
By the way, I originally Root the Kernel / Ramdisk of the Behold 2, if the Galaxy S is in anyway the Same... Good luck Finding somebody that Know how to Break RFS Security..
Good Idea i can theme but nothing else
Lol root and write access first...we did it with desire so fingers crossed.
Kingklick? Seriously?......
This are the bests! I prefer Rodriguez and Modaco, but all of this four are the bests!! (i've tried all of them roms for my nexus)
RoDrIgUeZsTyLe - rodigezstyle
Kang-o-rama - djmcnz
CyanogenMod - cyanogen
MoDaCo Custom ROM - paulobrien
i prefere cyanaogen all the way.. his roms were great when i had a nexus one.
MoDaCo Custom ROM - paulobrien <- he already has Galaxy S
always been partial to Amon_RA myself.
Yes kingklick is absolutely amazing. Cyanogen is unlikely to cook for a non-htc device. Paul has a lot on his plate but his roms are great...he devs for loadsa devices...
jw what do we mean by chefs ??? do we mean in rooting it or roms ??
Uhhh - This would be out of KingClicks' league unless he has learned a whole lot. He mainly modifies what others have already discovered or created. He doesn't do a lot of new code work himself. At least that is how I understand it from following most of the devs on Twitter.
That isn't to say that he doesn't do a lot of work (I have used his ROM's in the past!) - just that most of it isn't original. This project would need someone who does a lot of their own original work.
This is generally not the best way to get a dev to work for you. What you really need to do is scout the devs to see who would be willing. Then post up here to see who would be willing to donate to get that dev a device. Otherwise, someone could be sitting here with a bunch of donated cash and no dev to purchase a device for!
I think Galaxy S is absolutly perfect as it is.. only thing it needs is root.. the rest i am happy with
OnT: Cyanogen, Modaco or eventually Richardtrip would i like to see working on Galaxy
custom f/ws would be nice with
1. hi mem support.. you need to kill apps after a while or the think gets slow
2. support for full 360% rotation everywhere
3. root and bootloader support for nandroid backup/restore
4. be able to install apps from bootloader like htc live wallpaper etc.
5. setcpu support
6. be able to apply morphs so can make notif. bar transparent.
etc etc

I found a dev who might be willing if he can get enough money to purchase the device. He's already purchased three devices on his own over the last two years and can't afford to purchase another.
I'll keep this updated.
I'll chip in 50 bucks towards a device for him to get it ported.

id be willing to make a healthy contribution as well if it were a well versed dev and we knew we would get some steady progress.
those that have contacted devs already, keep us in the loop.

Guys, something like this happened in the Acer Liquid community in Modaco and to say the least, **** happened.
Useless posts, childish replys/manners, cursing and attacking etc....
Even if you bought the device don't expect anything from the developer. Thats my advice and good luck.
Yeah..it really hard to live up to human expectation. More especially if others donated cash to purchase a device.
The good old donation AFTER the dev already has his own device and created the ROMs is much preferred. That way the devs don't own the donators anything, and vice versa.

you make a good point.
estimating the popularity of the handset and assuming that ROMs for each revisions will be somewhat easily tweakable/compatible, id hope that there is a strong dev following for the device.
fingers crossed, i suppose.
I badly want to help get CM9 working, or at least learn from trying, on the T-Mobile variant of the GS3. I'm a pretty decent hacker, but I know I don't have enough / any experience with the Android OS / Kernel development to work on the GSM/LTE portions of the ROM. However, I feel that if someone could help me and anyone else interested to get the toolchain setup and source properly downloaded, we could help with the easier portions of the ROM and learn a little about the complex portions of the ROM just by watching what the more experienced devs are doing.
Right now, it seems like ...maybe.. a few people are working on their own rather than a collaborative effort (except the Sprint variant that has Team Epic working on a ROM). I don't want to slow progress by taking up a bunch of valuable dev time, but if one person could just help get some of the less experienced people off the ground, we could probably accelerate this effort...
In the meantime, would you guys mind posting some links to the best resources you have found for getting started building CM or even building Android in general? It doesn't really matter if it's a guide for a different device. I have searched but there is so much information missing in sources I have found.
Thank You,
KevlarTheGreat

I would love to get involved. I have a good amount of Linux and C experience (7+ years), but need a good place to start with Android ROM development (specifically for the GS3).

M'ladies and gents, couldeth you count a third member of this exquisite inquiry.
Team Epic is sorting it out, just be patient:good:

That is if it truly works on all carriers phones without trouble.

From what I understand, they are sorting it out for Sprint but T-Mobile is much different because it's GSM. Here is their reply to me when I asked if there would be CWM install scripts that would support both T-Mobile and Sprint from the same ROM:

No, there will not be ROM's that work on all variants. CDMA and GSM are quite different.
The tools like CWM will work on all variants (if made properly) because they don't use the radios.

I'm a bit surprised at this answer because I'm coming from the HD2 where tytung has two different versions of the kernel in his amazing CM9 ROM. It chooses which one to install automatically based on which radio support you have PPP vs RMNET.
so... i had no part of the dev on this rom...all credit goes to houstonn
BUT ITS A ROM THAT WORKS FOR THE SPRINT VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been running it for about 3-4hrs now... no bugs... gps/lte/AUTO-rotate/BT/WIFI/AND CAMERA all work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is the link to the ORIGINAL THREAD.....
I hope i don't get smited for posting it here....

hi,
I'll chime in if you guys don't mind..
All roms 4.3 for sprint that was built by me was just showing some love to sprint users.. I wanted to get the ball rolling for sprint and eventually hopefully someone could continue and with my help they would be off to a rolling start already.. I don't own a sprint g2. I'm a Canadian g2.. I usually don't like building variants that I cannot personally test myself..
I felt is is unfair while everyone owns such a beautiful phone and not able to have it custom while other variants of the exact same phone are able to. So I tried my best to do what I could while I had the time to..
All 4.3 roms I posted for testing will not be supported by me nor will I take responsibility for any problems it may cause..
I will only support anything current that I personally post myself.. anyone is more than welcome to try anything I have released previously, cause if I didn't ok that I would remove the file myself.
I'm a member of PA and all my releases with 4.4 will be built from PA sources. PA is starting fresh so the builds are basically same as stock aosp google releases except with the few minor additions. PA is reworking fresh and will bring in all the known pa features as time passes. it won't be officially support until I post an official thread. but right now I have alpha test builds out. I hate having temporary download links all over the place..
but as for sprint, I felt you guys needed some loving too since I don't see much support at this time.. as for other roms and other official roms, I don't know if the devs will support this variant or not.. it helps to have a dev that has the same variant.. I guess the Canadian g2 ppl will be lucky since I use a Canadian g2
I will try my best to support what I can with the amount of time I have.. having a full time job and building so many variants is very time consuming.
On another note. if someone wanted to post a link for any testing it's best that it should of been posted in the General Section since this forum is for development purposes..
all aside. if you guys want I have an alpha test build of PA 4.0 kk4.4 for the sprint ls980. you can find the rom here.
links can change at any given time.. I will work some more at fixing some bugs but this is what I have to offer for now.. I hope u guys enjoy.thanks. it's best you follow my thread in the original dev forum until I have a formal thread posted with full support but as for now this is what you get till I have more info.

If any Sprint dev was interested in continuing your work on Carbon or PA ROM, should they contact you via PM for the source? I guess there could be some Sprint devs out there interested in making these type of ROMs but don't know where they can get the source to build from it.

I don't think anyone will be working on 4.3 anymore... I will most like support sprint officially with PA if have enough time to manage all the erors.. it seems more simple with the other variants since they are gsm and have mostly all things in common..
we are in the process of all migrations and merging of 4.4. If I don't build officially for sprint I'll make sure to have all the sources on PA's legacy github https://github.com/AOSPA-legacy and anyone that wants to build for you guys would have all the sources they would need.. there is 2 branchs or gits for PA now. the AOSPA which is PURE AOSP and PA uses for Nexus supported devices and now AOSPA-legacy which is for all supported non nexus devices we support. I will try my best.. remember im 1 man.. the team has so many devices and so many things on the go. If I had a whole team of devs working on this with me , it would be much more simple .. I am working with a few ppl and am helping another dev bringup 4.4 for Omni (hopefully if u guys can convince him, he'll build for sprint too )
it's still so early and knowing that g2 has kk. im sure more devs will jump on.. just a little patience
I'll do what I can for you Sprint guys.. but you have to bare with me. I'm only one guy like I said.. I'll keep you guys updated tho.. for all other info you can always go on irc on freenode.org in #lg-g2 . I may not always be online.. and please.. let's keep those PM msg flooding to a minimal. I've been flooded a lot lately and I don't have the time to visit every thread and every PM. I have a hard time enough keeping up on my own thread.

thread closed for the the reasons stated above ^^^^^^^^
Let me start this with THANK YOU! I said it because I'm a huge custom ROM fan! Before buying 7x, I was like, "It's ending for custom ROMS". As I'm coming from Redmi Note 3, the greatest mid-ranger of all time, I felt very sad for buying 7x. As the custom development for Kirin devices is kinda meh!
But, what I thought is wrong! The geeky dudes are working to bring the bugless ROMS for this device. Almost all major bugs were fixed. The custom ROM development was started successfully! Wait, What? Successful? NOT REALLY!!!!
As an Indian user, I definitely not going to use any custom ROM till that main bug is fixed! Yes, VoLTE is very important thing for Indian Users. Well, devs out there, let us end this.
Please let us know the reason for not fixing VoLTE. Well, I know most of the developers are not from India or they might not use the VoLTE. But, give us that!
Are we going to get VoLTE in Custom ROMS or not? India wants to know! To be frank, I am enough tired coming to xda 7x page, opening custom ROM threads and seeing the bug list.
NOT BLAMING ANYONE, JUST ASKING!
Hello, our Amazing XDA Developers.
Hoping you have already planned something for Realme X, For the people still considering if they want to buy this phone or not, and if there was gonna be a Good XDA developer support on this phone.
Why don't you reveal here what you are working on/plan to work on?
Also, Normal Users why don't you post in replies, what you want developers to develop the most.
The aim of this thread is to make the developers aware about what are the most demanded apps/kernels/ROMs/Bootloading screen, etc that users want if they choose to fulfill the wishes of users.
Hoping you can make something awesome for us, Also, Please Keep 4GB Ram version in your mind the most please, since it's current performance and multitasking has a lot of room to improve.
My Personal Requests are-
Bootloader Unlocking Process details
TWRP(obviously)
Lineage OS Custom Rom
AOSP Custom Rom
Pixel Experience ROM
Magisk Modules for Bootloader screens(Not a Priority)
Thank you for giving your time to this thread.
Looking forward to your responses.
Thank you
