Has anyone come up with a way to add the volume wake mod to the stock TMo JB ROM (UVMC6 rooted)?
I've tried following a few guides on how to add it, but honestly, I'm not that great when it comes to Android mods and I don't think the guides were written with JB in mind.
(My power button is on its way out, hoping volume wake would let me extend its life.)
Thanks.

Does anyone have a guide on how to edit the android.policy.jar for this ROM or does anyone already have one edited for volume wake?
not sure if this will help but its all i found i know i saw one floating around some where but cant seem to find it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232284

also found this Volume Wakeup
This volume wakeup guide was adapted from these two guides: http://www.jordanhotmann.com/2011/08...tation-of.html and http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=18226553
In this guide I will show you how to modify your system files to allow waking up your phone with the volume keys instead of just the power key. This will prolong the life of the power key.
Requirements
This mod requires an edit to a jar file (Java archived file), specifically the file "/system/framework/android.policy.jar." To do this we need some tools that will disassemble the jar or apk file so we can edit the source code. After that we need to assemble it back and overwrite the original file(s).
Download the 4 files located here (smali-1.3.2.jar, baksmali-1.3.2.jar, baksmali, and smali): http://code.google.com/p/smali/downloads/list
Put the 4 files in a folder which is included in your path. For example, I placed the files in my home directory under a folder called bin (~/bin). Then in my ".bashrc" file I have this call at the end of the script:
PATH=~/bin:$PATH
This allows you to make calls to "baksmali" and "smali" in any directory.

Tried the first mod, unfortunately it didn't work. Thanks for the help though, that first thread might be a good starting point for me.
just leave this thread open im sure some one with more smarts than me can shed some light on this good luck hey try this might not like it but i installed it to play with it a bit its pretty sweet check it out https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wyLDEwNCwibm92dW0uaW5jZXB0dW0ucHJveGltaXR5Il0. you can set up a few different ways report back let me know what you think
Got it!
Solved it.
Install the rooted stock ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226860 and the volume mod is available in that thread.
Thank you Krazierokz, you got me on the right track to finding it.
Hi all! Thanks for any and all help!
Quick info: Stock ROM 4.4.2 via OTA (LS980ZVC), Rooted, Nova Launcher and Xposed Framework. I've tried flashing other ROMs and it just didn't work so I went back to stock.
I'm not too impressed with the speaker and headphone volume on my phone. I didn't buy the phone for the sound, though, so that's a good thing. However, an improvement would be nice!
I've tried both the sound mods below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2482750 - Root Explorer would not allow me to copy the file from my SD card to the proper location saying "copy failed!" each and every time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542398 - I flashed this and it soft bricked my phone. I got bootlooped because of it. Is there any particular reason, other than I just don't know how to flash right? (all kidding aside!)
Is there an easy way to get one of these two to work, or am I just stuck with the sound I have?
Again, thanks for any and all help, folks!
I think only work on JB, not KK. Have you tried Viper mod?

I recently rooted my phone with the help of One click root for android. I did this after reading this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...nd-testers-t3252659/post63908047#post63908047
I tried on solid explorer to edit the speaker gain default from 84 to 87 or so, but nothing seemed to happen, my volume was not louder.
I then bought root explorer for $3.99 and attempted again, mounted r/w and edited the file, but still nothing. No louder
What am i doing wrong? Can anyone one help?
Thank you

First of all you should not use any weird external program to root your device, yuo can get any kind on malware or weird stuff in you phone and pc this way, best way to root it is unlocking the bootloader, flashing twrp and flash SuperSU.
Now for the audio i recommend you to use any custom rom (dirty unicorns for example) and then flash arise sound mod. That's all you need

First, for root you can flash Supersu or Magisk with twrp. Second, there is flashable zips of Souround sound.

Totally agree with the first of all.
The second I would suggest custom kernel and some kernel manager to set the sound as like and hit apply on boot.

Hello, I have flashed several roms ranging from marshmallow to nogout and can-not get Viper4Android to work. Let me explain the problem. V4A only works with the music player that comes with the initial install but does not work with any player that I have paid for such as the likes of Jet Audio and Neutron Player. This is highly frustrating as the cheesy player that comes with the initial install is not strong enough to kick my duel air chamber headphones. I have tried all the normal fixes that normally work such as switching SElinux mode to permissive and some other ones that Viper users quite frequently use. If anyone is willing to help me figure this out or has already solved this problem or knows of some fixes to this that would be highly appreciated if I could get your feedback to this problem. Any and all replies are welcome.
Ok, guys heres an update: I got V4A to work on customized stock ViperOne based on stock marshamallow by changing the HTC_AUDIO_CONF file to the same name but with .bak at the end of it but it only works for headphones so when I connect the usb DAC it shows yes, yes, yes witch means working for usb but there is no sound output. Now that I got it working Im going to figure out how to get it to output sound through the usb dac otg When I figure that out im gonna start working on how to get this to work on most of the custom roms for our device. But one thing at a time. Also some help from the people who use V4A on HTC would be nice.
Try this:
First flash this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/viper4android-cleaner-v1-2-android-7-x-t3482211
Then flash this - http://downloadmirror.co/2zYA/ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip

OK it worked the first zip did it. The second zip did not work I had to use the Viper from magisk viper v15 version. Everything works now including output from USB. I figured it was that files needed yo be cleaned out where the audio files are. Thanks. :good: Now its all good sounds are pleasurable again . Thanks for the link.

You should really use that edit button instead of making few posts in a row Also about thanks - look at my signature.
I've used it on all the roms I've used - MM sense and customs, N customs and those two zips always worked.
However, I'm currently on stock, unrooted, unmodified MM sense and it doesn't work - the app flashes, but the status is abnormal, it can't modify the system partition - simply put, stock rom needs to be rooted in order for v4a or other things to work, just pointing that out.

I always use root even if I'm on stock. That is a must. When I'm on stock no root means can't do certain things. Kinda like if you were to have no sudo on Ubuntu. I wouldn't be able to install anything so root is a must. Always has been. I wrote those posts before I tried it out. My HTC was charging but yea whole lot of posts. OK I just edited this because I ported the two files audio config and policy config from my old droid 4 running ressurection and it worked. I did this because the radio wasn't working with that flashable zip from the link you gave me.I added a small touch of my own to one of the files and wola there you have it all audio including the radio works. I was wondering if you would like to test the two files on your device to confirm that it works and it isn't just working on mine. That way I could put files in XDA and share them for other users to use.
This Mod uses your fingerprint to lock your device. Longer presses will take you to the reboot menu.
:good: Download in my rom section or this quicklink.

Unfortunately I had to reinstall my rom. :x
The problem was that the FP sensor is way too sensitive after installing the mod.
I couldn't hold the phone in the hand without instantly triggering the FP sensor.
Foremost the FP sensor doesn't react not only to saved FP's.
You should definitely look into that, Jerome.
Or at least offer a patch to uninstall the mod.
Besides that it's a very good idea, but it needs fine tuning.
Could you please give me the uninstalation for the mode the fingerprint sensor is to sensitive, and i realy dont want to reflash the stock rom again ?

Almost any rom would need a proper remover/replacer zip, last was for miui roms so try this, read the post #5 and apply to this zip before flashing it. I hope it works

I installed the lineage os 15.1 on my xiaomi redmi 5 plus, but the fingerprint settings are not there and I do not know how to put them.
Are there any mods? How can I do?
thank you
Thanks for your amazing mod it's working prefect on my miui but now i installed pixel experience rom and the mod not work. Please update it for costume roms.
Tested on MIUI 10 RN5 Global (AI) and it broke both power button and fingerprint button.
EDIT: the fix provided did not work for me. Copied the folder as requested to the zip but even after flash the buttons are still broken (had to flash the ROM, just a system restore could not fix it too.)

Which version firmware are you using?
lock unlock fingerpriner
does it exist for redmi note 7?
Way to fix...
Perhaps a bit late, but...
For those who lost power and volume rockers the problems is file permissions.
You have to change file permission of 3 files on /system/usr/keylayout:
- Generic.kl
- uinput-fpc.kl
- uinput-goodix.kl
and set them to "-rw-r-r--"
also set them to be owned by root:root
While booting these files must be read for non root process. On some installs the last "r--" (other user privileges) are not set correctly.
Also, you must know that each keymapping files are for each brand and model. Where key 353 if for virtual fingerprint on RN5, the same "virtual fingerprint key" is number 96 on Mi Mix2, so if you flahed these files por RN5 on other model, you should find these files from a ROM (TWRP/nandroid backup from your device previous to the flash), or other rooted device and copy them to your own.
With these instructions you could prevent flashing entire rom
