You would need to change your CSC to BTU using samkey to enrol officially in the beta, or you can just flash the latest BTU firmware with Odin, then the update.zip for the beta from recovery
See here

Sorry to hijack this thread. Do you know if I change the CSC to BTU if I would get Samsung pay? I bought my phone from a region that doesn't have samsung pay, but right now I'm in Canada where the banks are supported.

Never tried myself, but I would assume so, I get Samsung pay on my BTU S20U, I think others have done exactly that for this reason too, you'd need to flash a BTU firmware too (Unless you get an OTA immediately after switching CSCs in which case there's no need)

Yes the same way you switched the first time, providing you do not upgrade to an unsupported Android version (11 is not supported right now)

Quick question since you seem to be in the UK. Do you have MST working or has it been disabled completely? I didn't know this before. That was the primary reason I was interested in samsung pay over google play. I'm not seeing anything that samsung does better over Gpay, excluding the rewards, which don't seem like much anyway to begin with.

I haven't used it, I am with Barclays and they force you to use their own app for NFC etc, they aren't even listed in the Samsung pay app, always just use my card for contactless anyway

Changing CSC of S9

I realise this question has probably been asked countless times but here we go. I have a SM-G960F but it is has a H3G firmware. I want to change it to BTU. Can I flash the latest BTU build, and use CSC instead of HOME_CSC as well as other files. Like, will this work without issues?
Yes, when it boots up it will likely be in German or something, on the first screen there will be some text with two options to press, you need to press the button that (In German) says reset the device, if you press the wrong button just boot to recovery and factory reset manually
On the next boot it will be in English
Why German? And would that be on the set up? Like when you first boot and it says welcome?

Just what it defaults to before the CSC changes when you factory reset, SIM card determines CSC when you flash Multi-CSC like BTU is, but only after the reset
And yes, very first screen it shows after the Samsung logo
Okay. I've rooted and flashed stock since S5. It's because this is my new S9, I dont wanna mess it up.
Edit: Thanks alot for your reply

I did the exact same thing you're about to do with my G960F too, mine was on O2 and I needed BTU or XEU for the Pie Beta, so I flashed the exact same way (Make sure to use ODIN 3.13.1)
It will likely give you XEU not BTU, makes no difference really they are both UK unbranded/unlocked firmwares and you get updates directly from Samsung instead of your carrier
What about doing *#272#Phone’s IMEI#. Would that bring up an option to change?
That's also why I want to flash, get update for Pie faster.

No because your current CSC does not contain BTU or XEU, it is a single carrier CSC
Not sure that works now anyway, Samsung have added a lot of security additions to prevent us from playing, even to the point of not being able to update system apps via apk
Don't be worried about using ODIN, it is Samsung's own internal flashing tool in the first place, as long as you flash AP, BL, CP and CSC together and do not have any disconnections during the process you'll be fine

Once you've flashed BTU/XEU you can flash DBT (German) Android Pie using HOME_CSC and it will not change your CSC, but you'll have Android Pie, that's what a lot of us have done until the UK receives it

Wait. I wanna do this. How does it work? Like flashing home CSC for DBT doesn't change the csc, but gives pie? How would I do this?
And does this still mean when it is pushed to UK it will be available, or will I need to re-flash?

Yep, HOME_CSC will not change your CSC, and DBT is included in BTU Multi just as XEU is, so it is quite happy leaving your CSC alone
Once the UK receives Android Pie, just do it again the exact same way with HOME_CSC and you'll be set for OTA updates from XEU again
No data lost, no reset of phone, just a nice quick way to get Pie now

Flashing unlocked software

Hi guys just got a galaxy s9 here in the uk it was locked to the EE network. But i brought it unlocked its on the latest august security patch. But i want to simply flash the unlocked software on the phone as i dont like the EE bloatware. Can i flash the latest august unlocked software on my phone. Or should i wait till a newer patch comes out first? As i read you shouldnt flash the same security patches

youll be fine to flash the U1 firmware. Just know that the phone will think that it is a U1 model and only get its own updates from there. You might need the patched version of Odin tho. If the phone thinks its currently branded, itll throw errors thatll cause Odin to fail
thanks im in the uk tho

I think BTU/XEU are your options for CSC. 'People' say BTU is better... IDK
BTW both firmwares have same baseband version so not sure whats the difference..
G960FXXU6CSGD is the firmware U need.
Security Patch Level: 2019-08-01. U should be fine on that.
After flashing to 'BTU' U should receive updates according to this website http://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-G960F/BTU/doc.html
EDIT:
Have U flashed new software yet? Whats the results??
Thanks paul appreciate the information. No i did not flash yet.
Only reason being when i checked samfirm program it said u can only flash the newest rom otherwise it could cause issues.
Im on the august security patch and the newest btu is also august so im guessing technically its not the newest.
So i got put off.
Unless it will ne fine im not to sure

I never heard that flashing with the same security patch date will cause issues.
Then what about reflashing? If U wanna flash with the same firmware? Many people do it.
I would not use samfirm to download software.
Check this site https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy__S9__/plhu/BTU/G960FXXU6CSGD/G960FOXM6CSH1/
Choose slow speed, download zip file, extract, install with ODIN.
Yes btu software is the correct one i need.
The reason why is because i dont like the carrier bloatware on my software.
And because i unlocked my phone i want to put the unlocked software. What is wrong with samfirm?
Is there a reason you say to avoid it

Help with flashing U1 firmware to my Verizon G960U

.
DetectiveTaco said:
I have a Verizon locked Galaxy S9 (G960U) and I want to remove all the carrier branding and crap since. With the US Snapdragon Samsung devices having the bootloader locked and preventing the ability to root or flash custom ROMs this is the only way I can get rid of the carrier branding garbage. Though there is so many firmwares and different versions of the G960U1 firmware that I don't know what to get. Or which version of Odin I need or what to do to flash using Odin. If anyone is willing to help and walk me through this process that would be amazing because there is no good detailed step by step guides or videos on YouTube on how to do it. Or they aren't recent.

get the patched Odin here
and the latest U1 firmware here
put the 4 files from the firmware in their respective spots, using CSC to factory reset the phone and HOME_CSC to flash the firmware without resetting.

One last question, did your CSC change when you flashed the U1? My CSC before flashing was VZW/VZW/VZW and it's still VZW/VZW/VZW. In the phone info app it says my firmwares CSC code is XAA which is what it should be since I flashed the XAA G960U1. But then it says the active CSC code is VZW. Does this mean I will not receive the unlocked OTA updates from Samsung directly like I thought I would, and instead I will still receive the Verizon OTA updates instead. http://imgur.com/a/KgooKUR

it should still get updates for the OTA version. What happened is when you put the vzw card in, the firmware chose VZW since that was one of the available CSCs in the package. No worries man
.
.
DetectiveTaco said:
Or is it like because the CSC is Country/Region/Operator and VZW was a part of the multi CSC package but the firmware uses the XAA CSC code it will pull the updates from the XAA provider in this case that being Samsung.
I will probably wait until the next update for XAA devices is pushed and see if I receive it. And I'll either report back here or PM you if I receive the OTA for the next XAA G960U1 update

thats what i was driver after. the version of firmware you flashed contains several CSCs and the vzw one is what the phone latched on to. If you popped another sim in there thats within that csc list, itll probably do similar stuff with that
yeah, feel free to hit me up. if you pm me on here, i might not answer super fast, but ill eventually get to it lol

Yep sure thing. Hopefully the October patch will get pushed soon and ill found out.

oh, forgot to address one of your previous questions. You can flash those files all you want, the nice part about them is that if youre flashing a new version on top of the old one, just flash the CSC_HOME and it will keep your phone exactly how it was but still apply the update. Its pretty sweet
.
DetectiveTaco said:
Yeah I flashed the regular CSC going from G960U to G960U1 because how it was a bigger transition and I didn't want to leave traces of Verizon crap.

Unlocked At&t Android 10 update outside US

Greetings,
I'm super new here, also a tech noob so pls be gentle.
I purchased an unlocked At&T Note 10+, and i am living in Malaysia. Little that I know At&T would never send updates to out network, and that I require an At&t SIM in order to get the updates. Currently I am stucked with Android 9, ONE UI 1.5, with no hope of getting anything higher than that.
My question is, how can i get the updates besides flashing a new firmware? I tried connecting to Smart Switch on my laptop, and all it can says is that my software is up to date on SJ8 (ATT).
Hope there's a way other than flashing. HELP.

Can you point me from where you downloaded the firmware? I am suspecting that is the culprit.

I'm sorry but I don't think there's other way around, you'll need to flash another firmware.

Well, unfortunately I'm not sure about previous versions, however I'm leaving attached my SW information, my CSC is XAA.
You can download it from sammobile or frija (this is way faster).
Hope this helps,
Regards.
So, knowing you are a noob is half the solution already...
I highly recommend you look for Frija on the internet. Download the tool, search for the phone you have , it is a SM-N975U , and since you want to get rid from the AT&T version, you can install the SM-N975U1 version with XAA as CSC, that Samsung themselves push updates to. Even if they will not, you can always download the next revisions..
I assume you know how to use Odin..

Question How to update to Android 13 today?

Hi, I have some spare time now and need to reinstall my Fold3 anyway.
So I would like to test Android 13 and am looking for the safest way, of course without triggering knox.
Can I download and flash via Odin Indian firmware from here: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-F926B/bit/all/av/T(Android 13) ?
Or should I register as a beta tester?
My csc code is OXM via *#1234# and EUX via "samsung phone info" app.
Which way to go, please? Or point me please in the right direction.
Thank you.
Good question, im also interested in going odin way, so i could also need a secured way
I downloaded the INU rom and to keep data flash HOME_CSC, it keeps the csc that you have now
So did I. I flashed INU on my EUY F926B. When you flash Home-CSC you will keep your data.

Been there, done that, if you have critical work apps, then wait for the official update if you are not 100% sure what you are doing.
ODIN says succeeded, so im crossing fingers. Have worked with it on an older Galaxy before, but never with Firmware from another country. In CSC ive taken the HOME_CSC_OXM_F926BOXM2DVK3_MQB58858275_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5.
That should be right
