I just purchased a Vanku PX6 A10 4g/64g from amazon. Here is the link Amazon Link
I am coming from an Atoto A6 which I purchased last year. While the Atoto is fairly stable and in my opinion somewhat robust it was a dog stuck on android 6 with fairly low spec's. I purchased the Vanku and all I can say is WOW. I am very impressed. When I first opened the box I hooked it up on my bench at first and the first boot was maybe 20 seconds until fully operational. Warm boot is maybe a second. I did go ahead and root it while I had it on the bench which worked perfectly based on the instructions I found on here. As of right now I am keeping the stock ROM. I used to always use Malysk's ROM and may in the future upgrade to his or to the HAL 9K but for now I really haven't seen any need to......This thing does everything I want it to. So far the only software I have installed (all of which I am extremely happy with) Is Agama Launcher, NavRadio+, PowerAmp, Total Commander, Atoto TPMS and MTCDialer. Everything has integrated super well together. Using the 'Google" button on Agama I can play any song on Power Amp or make a bluetooth call to anyone in my phone contacts or obviously do a google search. I bought this unit over the Pumpkin for a couple of reasons, The Vanku has an MTCE Mcu while I was told by the seller that the pumpkin of the same spec had a CSN2 Mcu. Also the reseller stated the Pumpkin was NOT compatible with any of the TPMS units available. This is my 5th android head unit and also is the first one that I was able to get the steering wheel button to operate without using a separate module. I was able to wire them direct.
Some PROS:
-Super fast at everything, boot, software loading, executing.....just WOW
-The microphone is very clear. I have both internal and external microphones hooked up and working and everyone I have talked to on the phone said my voice was very clear.
-The first thing I was going to do when I got it was put a bigger heat sink in it. Once I opened it up I found it had a very robust, finned heatsink attached directly to the processor without the small cover plate that I have heard about on some others.
Some CONS:
-For some reason some of the newer HU's are not using a standard size double DIN bezel. This unit would not fit in my Metra panel so I had to use the Dremel on the panel to make it a couple of mm bigger width and height.
-The MCU is an MTCE-HT. This is not as common and haven't found much information about upgrading it.
-I have one small spot in the upper portion of the touch screen on the left side that is not as responsive as the rest.
This is just my initial observations and I was not prompted to post this.
I have no idea how this will hold up in the long term but for right now I am super satisfied and give it an A+
Power Button (Long press volume knob)
Hi
So, After your response to my questions in another thread, I bought one of these and currently have it on my bench prepping for installation in my Van. I wondered if you knew what the deal was with the Long Press of the volume knob. The unit says 'shutting down', screen goes dark, but it still consumes about 10 watts. I have the red and yellow wires permanently connected to 12V as this is going into a campervan and will run off the leisure battery, so I don't want it to shut down when the ignition is turned off.
I had hoped to get it to shut down with the long press (which is what my old Ownice C200 used to do).
Cold boot is so fast that I am not really concerned about sleep mode. Maybe Malaysk custom rom offers some means to force shutdown from long press of volume knob?
Thanks

I am trying to figure out exactly how the 'standby' function works myself. I'm sure it has something to do with battery voltage but can't be sure. You can look at the Malaysk Rom or the HAL9k. I think the HAL9k offers a shutdown button but can't remember. The only problem with HAL9k is for right now you have to downgrade to Android 9 until he releases an updated version but there is a utility to easily downgrade to Android 9 called modinstaller. So far I have mine rooted (Android 10) and have it configured and working so well I can't find a good reason to change ROM's yet. I'm sure I will once the HAL9k for android 10 comes out. I always used to use Malaysk's ROM but they seem kinda 'heavy' now with a bunch of stuff I don't use.
Forgot to ask.....What do you think of it so far?
Hello, I have had the same radio recently but I can't get it to work with a 3G dongle, since in the connection options I don't have the option of mobile networks, in my previous pumpkin it worked perfectly. I will try to update to the Malaysian rom to see if I get this function, Do you have the option of mobile networks in connections ???? Thank you. A greeting.
Hola,
Gracias.
Un saludo.

If you are happy with the unit then why are you looking for updates?
I would like to update the firmware because the current security patch dates back to May 2020 and to have greater compatibility with new apps and improved system functions

Some CONS:

Hello, I am am a week or so away fr buying the same Vanku and I am wondering if you are still happy with it? Any supprises and are you still using the stock ROM? Thanks for a great review of your initial experience
Unfortunately, I have traded the vehicle I installed it in but can tell you up until the end I was 99.5% satisfied. In fact, this was the best Android head unit that I have purchased. I have gone through several.

Thanks very much, that's good enough for me
Thanks for this post. I'm about to do the same thing, moving from the atoto a6 pro to this for the same reasons.
Only difference was I was going to go straight to hal9k, since I've had good experiences in the past, but in case I get a dud, do you or anyone else have the stock rom for the vanku? If i need to return it as part of the warranty, I'd expect they want it on stock, but vanku's site doesnt have any posted.
Thanks for whatever help anyone can provide.
Also, I tried rooting it via the methods shown, but when I load magisk after the install reboot, it says it's in an abnormal state with two sets of binaries and root apps won't work. Any ideas there would be appreciated too.
@jateed,
I had the same problem
and here is the solution:
Root for Android 10 PX6 MTCE
I tested this on my Dasaita px6 mtce head unit once I installed Android 10 (thanks Diavol for the tip) I know that there are other ways to do this, but this is how I accomplished it. ****************DO THIS AT YOUR OWN...
forum.xda-developers.com
Thank you, but those were the steps I tried and what lead to the abnormal state after the magisk reboot. Although, I really just wanted to root stock so I could build a backup image so I can return to stock if necessary, so if the command line calls root it, I should be able to run the image backup via titanium or swift before the reboot.
Edit: never mind. I see your link pointed to a comment, not just the original post. Thank you.
correct. I linked to the solution. You need an explorer with which you can then delete the "su" entry

Hello guys im creating this topic in order to find out more about this particular unit, ive already been searching the forum but i cant seem to find opinions on this unit.
Im thinking in buying this one instead of rns-e (original audi) because not only it is cheaper, but it also offers a lot more options since its an android unit. altough its a chinese unit and thats kinda what makes me get one foot behind this buy.. Is there anyone that has the same unit? or same hardware/software that could give me some positive/negative feedbacks?
The unit its this one.

Can you tell me if the screen is good against the sun light, even on full brightness? Can you actually read things there while theres light in it?
How about the sound quality? Bass?
Thanks!!!
Hi @Ezreal,
I have that one (manufacturer KGL) installed in my Exeo and it works pretty well, only thing I am missing is the radio station/song names and well, of course the navigation instructions in the FIS/DIS screen that you can get only with the RNS-E...
Everything is working fine and would recommend that 100%, although I think I remember the original radio sound better. But that was over 1 year ago when I had that.

Well thats my fear too, i know that the rns would sound a lot better than this one, but well its expensive, and old, its not even touchscreen, although its OEM and wont have problems with GPS/Sound quality..
Do you recomend giving like 360€ for a chinese radio?
RNS its like 550€ +.......
Depends on your needs... If you want to have your car full OEM, then for such a difference go for a RNS-E, but if you want to have all the possibilities that give you android, then China radio... You can install tomtom + all the apps from android for instance and is more customizable...
If you use the gps a lot, I would decide the China radio, if it is only to have MP3 + basic gps functionality + full integration then go for the original one. Your decision

The thing is. I would like to have a radio that could reproduce videos like concerts and stuff, and many more stuff.
The RNS wont read video files.. but has a really nice sound quality, which i dont know if the chinese radio has since its not OEM.
I have a radio 1 din on my A4 and has a really nice sound quality, and bass etc. Im afraid i will lose that quality if i go chinese radio and not OEM.. What do you think?

Then go for the Chinese one. RNS-E will not give you out of the box what you are willing to play.
Sound quality in the Chinese one I think can be improved via de equalizer just adjusting manually the values, but didn't tried yet several combinations. Anyway it is not bad quality sound not to choose that one because one because of that, but I think it is little bit below the standard radio. I may be wrong as it is just my point of view.

Ok i see, i never heard a chinese one playing thats why im questioning..
But how about gps for instance? Does it work well? Crashes? Bugs?
Video must be awesome to play it at night for the passengers and stuff...
Everything is working flawlessly, I am pretty happy with it, I have Malaysk rom and improves the device a lot.
Regarding music sound, I use the app "bass eq" and really notice the difference for better
Try Viper4Android!
Hi, I'm looking at getting one of these for my Audi A2. Currently the only option for the A2 is to purchase A4 RNS-E and modify it to fit the dash of the A2.
The question I have, which relates to your units, is that the Eirisn ES2028A states a resolution of 1024x600, and the pumpkin 11-C1220-UK-A states a resolution of 800x480.
Can anyone confirm if the Erisin does actually have a higher resolution screen, as I was on the understanding that they are all made by the same company (HuiFei), then distributed by different resellers (Pumpkin, Erisin, Eonon, Joying, etc).
Any help would be appreciated.

Well according to ebay, pumpkin is 800x, I think the others are all 1024x, but cant confirm 100%
Thank you for the quick reply.
Is it worth going for the higher resolution screen?
I've seen more info about Pumpkin versions than Erisin, so wasn't sure if it was worth going for the lower resolution screen and getting a possibly more robust headunit.
I'll keep an eye on the Erisin units then, unless the others update their screens.

Well i dont think its a huge diference between resolutions since the screen is only 7"..
If it was a TV i would go for higher resolution, but again, i can be wrong because i never saw both standing near me so i could test it.. I would wait for experts to come and take our doubts out..
But the price its kinda the same.. the 800 one its the same (sometimes bigger) than the 1024.. according to ebay..

In my A3, I have had to fade the sound mostly to the back and then crank up the volume a bit. With the addition of Viper4Android app, I have been able to make a pretty good sound stage... but the original Audi Concert audio system still sounded better IMO.

Yeah that's what I've done up to now, but the volume is turned up to 3/4 or higher now.. May just run new wires to the front door speakers and rear speakers, and do away with the factory amp.

For sure, it's nice to have another Audi on here with the same issues... my volume level is constantly up to about half (15) just to hear anything, then up to like 25 with the windows down and rolling.
Viper4Android installed, with the stock firmware EQ's basically all the way up and the "loud" setting on, has made a significant difference. I'm not sure why V4A says you don't have root... but I would reinstall it right after doing the root password and adb password in the system settings. I have constant root on the Malaysk ROM, so I am not sure.
I am also thinking about hitting up the guys on this website... http://enfigcarstereo.com/audi_radio_installation.html . They have all sorts of aftermarket gadgets for our Audi's that help overcome aftermarket stereo issues. I am looking at the "Enfig RWH-AUD2-HILO" as a possible solution for the low audio/factory amp problem.

Ok got Viper4android sorted !!! didn't know about the root password - Thanks for that !!
I also looked at the Enfig hilo adaptor aswell, but being in the UK - was looking for something closer to here to try, found a few that may do the same but may need buy two and tweak the connections (Phonocar 4/136 High Level Adaptor)
Thanks again !!
Recently purchased Joying's updated android head unit. MTCD board.
First off I kinda knew what I was getting myself into. I had low hopes. So far there isnt much thats changing that view.
I ordered it through Joying-USA not Joying to get that US support.
Communication. So far I haven't had to deal with really bad broken English. Quick replies. Plus doctorman is on here aswell.
Shipping, Standard packaging. Basic non presentable packing. See Pic here
Condition, I guess these units arent new because mine was either clearly used or didnt take care of it during QA
See Pic here
Onto the device
Accessories
GPS- External Active Antenna (ZDXW SGS) 3meters- You can swap out the gps for another active antenna such as shark fins.
External mic. 3meters. Basic non-branded 3.5mm mic.
Internal mic is on the front panel. Most callers usually can hear me from here.
screws - For mounting unit onto aftermarket brackets. Extra screws for grounding to chassis.
Thumb Drive - 8gb generic usb 2.0
Display
LCD- Cowin 10.1 HI424560108C TFT 60pin
Digitizer - Goodix GT9271
FPC Breakout- 3863-LCD TFT v02 11/11/15
TFT is TFT( its one of the later gen panels that dont suffer from horrible viewing angles) IPS panel would help this immensely.
Display change: the SOC can support Dual-panel display up to 2048x1536 resolution. Other rk3188 tablets have 1080 screens. Sadly for us since Joying wont support higher resolution, since locked in kernel. Without source code resolution will remain.
Its alright. Has decent viewing angles but because its a super cheap panel to make the digitizer and lcd are seperated by a good amount of room.
Cons of separated panels. Dust/particles get stuck underneath glass. wont know how it'll how up in extreme humidity. Pros, easier to replace only lcd or only digitizer. Should be cheaper too.
its a 5 touch display so its very old model as most touch screens now a days are 10 point. response of the display is garbage. Not as bad as early gen tablets but with only 1gb of ram youll be seeing a slow down rather quickly.
Ghosting, pretty much when your off center you'll see the ghosting of the letters due to the separation of digitizer and lcd.
Feels more like a resistive screen vs capactive since it doesnt always capture my input.
Reverse action/cam. Not yet tested
Colors. Saturated colors. need to do more testing.
OOBE: No First Time experience. Since they install apks manually instead of sideloading or making custom roms they are installed after OOBE.
Pirated apps. Sygic comes preinstalled with folders. Have no verified all files within loaded folder.
Spyware/Malware - have not digged through all the system to see if anything out of the ordinary was added.
SystemUI.apk is completely modified so verification is needed.
Developers option to enable usb debugging is not available due to modifications to apk.
Launcher: Garbage. Really slow. Any third party launch instantly improved speed.
If anyone's interested in pics let me know what you need.
Memory, maybe with some optimization I might get more of this unit but so far the conclusion is that 1gb sucks. 2gb should be standard if not more.
Storage:
Board might take another USB port as header is available(i think). 2gb app storage. 16gb nand storage(so soldered on memory). Hidden SD card mount (Have no tested 128gb limit yet) is on the break out board. Joying claims decision was made to not get damaged by the Front panel. But since the front panel is pretty custom he/they choose the cheap/easy way and putting it inside. Putting the sd card on the side bezel would be ideal.
CPU. I knew the Rk3188 was weak but I didnt think it was this weak.
Try running the preinstalled sygic map, just move around the map and notice the lag.
I mainly bought it to run sygic and poweramp if it cant handle sygic I dont know if it can handle anything else.
Conclusion: TL;dr
Not worth it at this price point. Maybe at under $200 .
Maybe through optimization you can squeeze some more life but as is, its a device that feels like it came out in 2013/2014(which is when this SOC came out). It feels like I got a cheap china tablet again that Ill eventually replace with a more powerful one because if it cant do simple things like play music and move maps then whats the point?
Competitors. Some offer cheap 3d printed faces. No english. No support at still the same price.
Actual stereo recievers. Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer with android auto and back up cam cost at least $1,000. So this obviously seems like a better choice but both are really the same. Companies milking their inventory.
I like most others would have gladly paid $1,000 or more for a high end head unit with good support. But none exist.
I still have to see what else I can optimize before I give up on the little guy so stay posted.
RECOVERY:
VIA:STEROD
Enter ADB Root Mode in the factory menu by pressing *#hct#root#
Install Kingo Root
Install SuperSU Me (which replaces Kingo Root with SuperSU)
Update SuperSU through the app to latest binary.

To enter factory recovery, either download an app like Quick Reboot (which allows you to select recovery on next reboot) or to do it with a paperclip, you press and hold down the RST button first, then while still holding it down, use another paperclip to press and hold down PWR. Release RST while still holding down power, then release power when the screen comes on and it should go into recovery.

-Move SD Card slot.

-Backup any proprietary apps you might want and factory reset the tablet after arriving. Manually reinstall apps of your choosing. This adds slight improvement in boot up and responsiveness.

Thank you for the review..
I get these new from china, the packaging is to protect the head unit in shipping but not made for gifting as you mentioned.
I open my every unit and test all options as much as I can and update the ROM to the latest version and I also remove the nav app or other 3rd party apps as I am not sure how they are licensed with Joying china, I guess I forgot to wipe data during the ROM update of your unit. I use NavMii, iGo , waze and they have worked fine on this. not a fan of sygic personally.
At this price range this is one of the better units you can get.
I stand by my customers so if you have any issue I will make sure to have it fixed.
As for the RAM, Joying is developing the 2GB RAM modules, unfortunately no ETA yet.
For general use of a head unit the RK3188 does the job, I have the old 4.4.4 RK3188 in my car for the past year or so and I am very happy with it, but again I only use it for radio, video, music and occasional youtube and browsing.
the 10" tablet model has the SD card inside to avoid hitting the back of scren, that is teh answer I got when I asked Joying about the location of the SD card.
I agree with you that is not the best idea to hide the SD card slot.
when I get a chance will test that 3rd plug see if a 3rd USB port would work on it , not sure why they added it.
I use a powered USB hub with BC1.2 which is much better than connecting the usb devices to the unit directly. fully charged phones while connected to the USB hub.
The space between touch and LCD makes the repair much easier and cheaper. I have not had any issues with dust but even if you get dust it is very easy to clean.
let us know if you change the screen to IPS.
These units will see big improvement once we can get donate a mtcD head unit to Malaysk and get his ROM going.

Hey I was not trying to bash or make a negative post. Like I said I have faith that I can make this little guy work, ive done to cheap phones and tablets before.
So far my communication with you has been pleasant and very responsive, I have not left an amazon feedback yet (i will)) since Im still testing it as we speak.
BTW clearing cache sped it up a lil which means I know i can optimize this. So its not terrible, but it could be better for the amount of money.

I do really appreciate your review. I like people to know exactly what they are buying.
I am sure these can do better, they were just launched and updates are coming out often.
I personally still recommend the old mtcB units since there is so much more support and apps and development for them.
did you notice a faster boot with your unit. I had 10 seconds boot time at times (not installed in car).
with mtcB RK3066 I got 33 seconds
with mtcB RK3188 I got 19 seconds

I never had another android head unit. But after clearing cache/factory reset boot time, system responsiveness, and even touch all seemed much better.
So kingo for root is the only method huh?
What about custom recovery/stock recovery?
Ive tried multiple paperclip sequences with no luck to get into stock recovery, just finished downloading update image for ui fix. will see how that helps.

you can update that in your OP above.
I don't know of a rooting method for these as I have not played around with them much.
certainly no custom recovery for them.
Enter ADB Root Mode in the factory menu by pressing *#hct#root#
Install Kingo Root
Install SuperSU Me (which replaces Kingo Root with SuperSU)
Update SuperSU through the app to latest binary.
There is no custom recovery that works.

I have two Joying radios. I have the one in this review, the 10.1 running 5.1.1, and a 7" running 4.4.4. The only thing I don't like about the 5.1.1 is it is very noticeably slower. I think it's the operating system itself. It uses up way too much ram without any programs installed. All I have installed on my 5.1.1 is PowerAmp, Pandora, IHeartRadio, Amazon Player, and Morecast. I have all those plus about 6 more apps on my 4.4.4. At rest, the 5.1.1 is using 788MB of RAM. If Iaunch a music app or Google Maps that number goes much higher. My 4.4.4 version is using only 520MB of RAM at rest. Even with Pandora and Google Maps, it rarely goes over 700MB. The 5.1.1 radios desperately need 2GB of RAM. 1GB is fine for the 4.4.4 but the 5.1.1 can barely handle it. Overall, it works, you just have to make sure you complete close out apps. I use the app Greenify to shut them all down automatically so they aren't running in the background. Great radio, love the display, it just really needs 2GB of RAM.

Completely agreed. Ive already increased speed be removing a couple of things. Its possible to make this a decent head unit but like I said above. Max price should be $200USD nothing more. Maybe an extra 50 for shipping but thats it. The kit kat units that sell for under $300 are honestly priced. Not the 10.1(at least the MTCD)
PS. Liked your video. Nice car too.

Thanks,
Have you tried any offline GPS software on the 5.1? I tried IGo from Joying but it says "not compatible with 1200x528". I was able to get IGo to install when I had my 10.1" Joying with 4.4.4. I was able to install Sygic but it seems like the radio really lags when Sygic is installed. I've tried many times. Most of the time I just use Google Maps but never know if you're in an area without an internet connection.
I'm going to try disabling a few other stock apps like the weather and try and squeeze out every bit of RAM I can. Best part of the 5.1 is the screen dims when you turn your headlights on. I'm amazed all their radios don't do that. I have talked with Joying customer service quite a bit. When it comes to customer service, they're awesome. Probably the best company I've ever dealt with. They did say they'll be releasing a 2GB RAM version in about 6 months. Possibly even an octa-core as well. When those come out, I'll definitely be upgrading.

Thanks for the review and dev support for it too. I got the 5.1.1 version for $220 from someone on ebay so I got it for way lower. I hooked it up to my car I'm working on and noticed the lack of sound. Kernel needs a volume boost for sure. I maxed out my Amp gain and It was still low. If you can work with that also, that would be greatly appreciated. I have a American Bass crossover for the meantime.

Looks like there's a new update for the 5.1.1 units. I installed the April 30th update and the unit appears to run faster. At rest it's using about 75mb less RAM too (just an average after multiple reboots and shutting down all installed applications. The shut down delay bug was fixed. I haven't tried the back up camera or radio presets yet. This was the link that Joying gave me. https://www.carjoying.com/Joying-blog/42.html

Sorry just saw this, I tried paid version of sygic(not the pirated one that comes preloaded). Overall anything with GPU causes slowdown. So moving maps around is sluggish but actual display when navigating was fine. Though switch apps sucks due to low memory. Im going to try here maps since its more minimal it make work faster. So far I have not gotten resolution incompatibility.

I posted in another thread but, if you want to shoot the google maps output to a proper external SD card you need to root your device and run FolderMount.
Then you can store an entire metropolis (~1GB) without having to fret too much about space.

Hi all,
Purchased an Xtrons MTCD System back in September,
Android 5.1.1
1024x600
16gb ROM
1gb RAM
PX3 RK3188 4x1.6ghz
Mali 400mp
Looking at purchasing a newer version now offered
Android 6.0.1
1024x600
32gb ROM
2gb RAM
PX5 RK3368 8x1.5ghz.
PowerVR G6110
I currently have a lot of stutter when switching apps or opening iGO navigation while Spotify is open.
Also the cold boot time annoys me.
I can purchase the new version & sell mine off for minimum loss.
Is the RK3368 OctaCore & 2gb RAM a definite upgrade?
I need advice as I'll be purchasing it at the end of this week, which means I need to advertise my current one ASAP.
Cheers
Mat
From what I've read it's the best upgrade available right now. 2gb ram is probably the biggest thing, and according to the benchmarks, the PX5 is the fastest CPU available right now in these types of units. Some people like the Intel CPU, and claim that despite having lower benchmarks it may be as fast as the PX5 - but I'm pretty skeptical. Just the upgrade to 2gb Ram will make a slower CPU seem faster. Without a side by side it's impossible to know. Either way, I will be upgrading my quad core 3188 to a PX5 as soon as I am able and one becomes available for my car.

Thanks for the fast reply. If I get a couple more positive comments from others I'll be ordering my new one Thursday, DHL Shipping. I can post a comparison of the 2 units side by side by next weekend if everything works out well from boot times to launching the same apps etc.
Cheers

Edit: I purchased the new unit. Have organised sale of my current unit. Will hopefully get a quick comparison video next week between the two opening specific apps and comparing run times etc.

Have you considered the px5 som you received is defective or doa? How have you validated the son as defective other than testing on your mtcd? From cross compatible thread findings its seems unlikely KBT departs from MTCD as to not boot.

Hello, did you manage to get it working or tried to re-install the original board? I also have a KBT unit (Eonon) and have already ordered a PX5 board.
Update: After installing the PX5 board, everything worked fine. The unit booted immediately and everything is working much better now. However I am facing an issue, that after wake up, the panel buttons and touch screen are not working. It somehow works after a period or multiple ignition on-off cycles.
Thanks,
Alex.

Hello, since you will be replacing the board, there's no reason to upgrade before because the firmware runs on the board itself. Depending on what version your new board will be running on, you may choose to update after you install it.
A.
What really is bothering me is that right after startup (when the unit has been powered up after starting the car) the entire system is in-cre-di-bly slow.
I often need to use the navigation app (e.g. Sygic in my case) and the unit's so laggy after startup that I need to wait for a couple of minutes with the engine running before the system is "up to speed".
After about a couple of minutes the unit works as it's supposed to: fast and responsive. OS and apps and all.
But after any shutdown that was long enough to force a full bootup (showing the startup logo's etc.) it's all slow and laggy again for the first couple of minutes after startup.
Sygic is pretty much the only additionally installed app, apart from the stock apps.
It is an Eonon (Klyde) GA6151F (for Mazda 3 2004-2009) with MCU version MTCC-KLD6-V2.97, and Android 5.1.1 (rk3188-userdebug 09082016.13:48:16) firmware.
Any tips as to overcome this?
Thanks a lot!!

Theres no such thing as an "Eonon GA6151F" - Eonon are just a seller who mainly sell Klyde units you most probably have a Klyde MTCB or MTCC unit "Eonon GA6151F" so you ll be better off reading/posting in thread in the MTCB section because your unit is the same inside as the 1000s of other MTCB//C units made by 10s of different manufacturers and sold by 100s of different sellers. "GA6151F" is a made up name by Eonon and wont mean anything to anyone on here because we use manufacture names to identify units - this can be found in the settings/about device screen after the letters "MCU" - the numbers and letters tell us the manufacturer and MCU type.
Your ll find info on the 2GB RAM upgrade in the MTCB hardware mod forum.
Its probably also a good idea to read the wiki in my signature.
EDIT: I checked, you have an MTCC unit.
Hi
For my part i have a GA6163F from Eonon, which is the same device onboard (RK3188 MTCC) except for the screen (7 inch vs 8 inch).
Anyway, when i bought mine, I flashed the 5.1.1 ROM of Malaysk because I wanted to use TomTom on my device. It worked good but like you the unit was very slow on startup and i had to wait between 3 and 5 minutes before launch my TomTom app.
Last week I've seen that our unit (MTCC device) is compatible with a downgrade on Android 4.4.4. So I tested and it's UNBELIEVABLE ! The unit is really fast. Startup in 30 seconds, TomTom works really good, interface is really fluid.
So my tips is to flash this ROM :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70647239&postcount=6748
I was thinking about adding 1GB of RAM before but with this ROM, for my usage it's not necessary. I suggest you to take a look on it.
Cheers,

When I got mine it was on 4.4.4, I upgraded to 5.1.1 and find it fine, I ve also upgraded the RAM.
But the point of my post was to tell you that you dont have an Eonon GA6151F, because theres no such thing - you have a Klyde MTCC unit whihc is exactly the same as any other Klyde MTCC unit, apart from screen size, no matter whether its for a Ford, a BMW, an Audi or a universal unit like mine - theyre all the same inside.

Well, I know that my device is a Klyde MTCC. Otherwise how would I know what ROM flash ? But you do well to specify it again to be absolutely clear for those who are not used to with this jargon.
I just wanted to point that before spend money or because you don't know to disassemble your device, there are others things which can be tested before adding 1GB of RAM. That's my opinion.
But, that you said is really interesting. I thought that Android 5.1.1 handle badly the RAM, but the problem is maybe the only 1GB RAM with this OS. For me Android 4.4.4 consume less of RAM and works better my 1GB.
Do you use some "big GPS apps" like TomTom or Sygic on your Klyde MTCC 2GB RAM ?
Really appreciate to share experiences with you to understand better how this device react to the OS and RAM.
Thanks,
Airlink

5.1.1 stores running apps in cache, so regularly clearing the cache helps overcome the lags with 1GB.
2GB can run all sorts of bigger spps, yes.
But my point, which you havent understood yet I think, is that there was no need to open a specific thread for your unit because it is the same as all the other MTCB/C units and if everyone did that then there would be literally 100,00s of thousands of threads about duplicate devices and problems. See ? You do not have a "GA5161F", you have an MTCB/C head unit made by Klyde !

Could you please link to some specific content about RAM upgrade for a EONON head unit?
I've just got a EONON GA2186, and I find it very slow, both regarding to app running and responsiveness.
I've read something (this is my first contact whit this subject) and I guess I need to understand what is MTCC, PX3 and PX5, etc. Is it possible that you could guide a non-fluent in English through what I really need to know in order to have it running faster, without lag and more responsive to touch? What do I need to buy/change? A "core" or is there just the RAM part to replace?
I'll appreciate your help very much.
Thanks in advance.
You need to buy the RAM and then get it soldered onto the board, there are some threads in the hardware modification section.
I have the Eonon GA6163F radio in a Mazda 3 2012. Unfortunately, by playing with updates, I partially paralyzed the radio. Unfortunately, Eonon no longer has the appropriate software, so I need your help. Who has the right software for me?
A few days ago I posted this in general https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...android-auto-questions-specific-ones-t3894283 I got some answers but I have more research lead me here.
Specifically instead of going with pioneer with whatever software they are using I could instead use a fully android based unit that is self-dependant if need be and use headunitreloaded to serve my android-auto needs (I heavily prefer using my to choose locations or change the music or atleast pass it around if anyone wants to change the music) so I am here asking the pros, what do you guys recommend that I do? follow my original post? or this post? because pretty much what I want is to use android auto while i'm able to use my phone, listen to music and use the backup camera. (on that note, which cameras do you recommend that dont shine an LED when reversing)
I too am on the fence regarding purchasing an android powered head unit. but what makes me second guess my choices is poor build quality and software to boot.
any device you looking at in particular?
I'm not on the fence, I just need to find the right one to order
From what I gather we need something px5 if we want to load roms?
The 4 I've narrowed them down to are listed below along with a camera(not all mention PX5 though they may have it, all but 1 are 10.1 inches)-
Pumpkin: looks like they have good support, 7" screen $240
hxxps://wxw.amazon.com/dp/B07K82XT4Q
Joying: Company has been around awhile, but youtube is full of issues with this model priced at $370
hxxps://wxw.amazon.com/dp/B07K82XT4Q
T-One: Little to information on the net about the company, middle of the range price point at $310
hxxps://wxw.amazon.com/dp/B07FKQHV2F
Eonon: Cheapest at $225
hxps://wxw.amazon.com/dp/B07HNZ2L8D
Camera I've chosen: only 420tvl, look for one at 800tvl for best quality
hxxps://wxw.amazon.com/dp/B06XNM7GNS/
Just letting you know the Eonon unit you linked does not have a PX5, it is a mediatek processor. Eonon GA2170 / GA2170B / GA2171S are current ones with PX5.

No I don't, I run Hal9K 3.1.1 and FCC Car Launcher which does everything I need, so no need to use my phone for anything other than BT Calls

Can you please test to see if it works? using wifi direct (even better if you have OneUI on your note 8). if it does work I'm definitely getting one.

I tried this with Headunit Reloaded but couldn't get it to work using wifi - it complained of an IP issue. I'm not sure if it was just my unit as I have lots of customisations on mine. But I did get the USB connection working fine.
Am looking to get an Android HU too, totally newbie here.
Could someone please advice whether I need to go for the 8.0 or 8.1, and what is the minimum ram / rom and quad or octa core I should be getting?
