Two days in a row now, incoming calls don't ring your phone and text messages timeout on the phone before being sent.
Called Tmobile US customer care. They said that they have multiple reports of this. They said they're working with samsung and expect a bug fix...no time frame given.
I've found that restarting the phone recitfies the situation temporarily. It's like the phone/sim is getting lost in the server and needs to be restarted to be recognized again.
I am using the new R15 sim that came with the phone. My wife also has this issue, new S20fe and new R15 sim. 3rd phone in house is S9 with a sim from 2017...working great.

Anyone else experience this on their M8? Group messaging worked fine last night. This morning I received (message not downloaded, generic network failure). I use the power saving feature and data connection is checked. Therefore, I'm assuming when this power feature is enabled and mms message are sent when the phone is not in use (when I'm sleeping) it causes these error and is unable to resolve itself.
I am able to send messages to other people, but not the ones I group message with. Has anyone else encountered this problem on their M8. Some of what I Google so far points to apn.
This what I get when one of my friends respond to my group text, followed by message not downloaded generic network failure
Same issue, troubleshooting all day with htc and tmobile, think i found solution
I have been dealing with this exact situation ALL DAY. Unfortunately, google did not provide much help as it seems to be a new problem. Background information: I just bought a new HTC One M8 (T-Mobile) and received an MMS from my boyfriend within minutes of turning it on (no issue). 1 day later, I installed the "System update" and when he tried to send me an MMS, I got the same error as the thumbnail above and was unable to download. The error message "Message not downloaded - Generic Network Issue" kept coming up. I tried googling and doing my own troubleshooting, I restarted the phone multiple times, I messed with the APN, I took out and reinstalled the simcard, all to no avail. I contacted HTC via their live chat and waited in a queue of 40 people They also tried to get me to update my APN information and again, to no success. I then called T-Mobile to see if there was a network issue with the SIM card. By this point, I got a MMS from another friend which also resulted in the same error message. T-Mobile tech was super helpful, tried sending me pic messages which actually came through! I then realized, the two users who sent me pics were both iPhone users. So the T-Mobile tech grabbed an iPhone and tried sending an MMS at first to no avail. He tried again and BOOM, picture message received. Still, he couldn't understand why it was happening still when my boyfriend and friend were sending me pics. Hours later, and still befuddled (tmobile tech said he would call later to follow-up and do some research on his own in the meantime - verrrry helpful guy!), it hit me like a TON OF BRICKS..... Both my bf and friend are not only iPhone users, but are on the OLD operating system because they (like many iphone users) didn't want to update to the new iOS because it apparently changed the look of the phone/apps. They are both in the process of installing and converting their iphone 4(s) - not "S" as in model but plural to the new operating system. Unfortunately, I can't report on whether this was the issue but I imagine with a brand new phone (HTC One M8), new system update that I installed yesterday and their old phone/VERY old iOS (this is like 2 versions ago - for both of them), there is a MAJOR incompatibility.
I will report back once they have installed and tried sending a pic, but hopefully this will help someone else for now (or who has a friend or significant other that can act quicker than mine do )
Whoa... Both of my friends have iPhone. Yeah I was on the phone with the tech this afternoon and he was unable to resolve my issue.
seems like it's working this morning. I turned off the power saving feature. I don't understand wtf is going on. ?
Happens to me on T-Mobile too, but not all the time, definitely sucks when I'm in a group message and I only get half the texts. Majority of the time it works though. Happens with both people with iPhone's, and Android phones.
I received a follow call from T-Mobile and was told there had been network issues which in turn affected mms. ? this morning I woke up to another generic network error message, but I've had no issues so far.
same issue please help
Hello, I am having the same issue! The people sending me messages do have iPhone but I can't send pic messages to anyone either. I haven't tried receiving from a non iPhone users yet. This is so annoying. I reset my apn numerous times, even talked to HTC ... I'm out of luck. My email is [email protected] please email me some tips/ steps idk if it is the phone, the service or what.

Hey guys
I'm having an issue where some of my received SMS messages are getting cut off at the end. The last part is essentially being replaced with the word "null".
Details
-Happens on stock message app (regardless of whether Textra or GO SMS are installed), Textra, and GO SMS
-Affected messages are usually over 160 characters
-Not all messages over 160 characters are cut like this
-Has happened with 2 contacts, one on H2O wireless
-I'm using a rooted T-Mobile Note 3 running stock TW on 4.4.2 with the NE6 build and the NF1 baseband. Was happening before I flashed the new baseband
I've searched for a similar issue, but I haven't found anything like it. Do you guys know what it could be? Thanks in advance:good:
Wow, that's a new one to me....My first guess would be something funky happening on T-Mobile's end. Maybe call Tech Support and have them reset you? That's just a wild guess, though....

I'm having the same exact issue. On tmobile prepaid with my HTC One. No resolution so far with TMobile.
on tmobile chat support now, they tried to get me to master reset. been having this issue for a while now. thought it might be an iphone thing, but turns out android users also have this happen to their texts. im on the t-mobile htc m8 firmware 3.32.531.2 ARHD 22.2. will report back if anything is resolved
so technical care is looking into it. they said they will do something with my signal and monitor it for 3 days. ill get a call back when everything seems fine. will try to report back when they do contact me
ok so they said everything is fine on the network. all of the texts are going thru correctly so my phone SHOULD be downloading and displaying them correctly. so they said it could either be my phone or my sim card. they are shipping me a new sim card. if this happens again i will switch sim cards out. last resort will be a phone replacement. again i will try to report here any further info if anyone is interested
Same exact issue I've had for a couple months now and numerous others. New sim card or replacement phone didn't help (HTC ONE M8)- it's definitely something with T-mobile .. https:// support.t-mobile.com/thread/73266 an active thread about this matter too. They'll keep giving you the run like they've been doing to me the past month. ( i had to make space between https:// and support since I have less than 10 posts..)
Good morning everyone and Happy New Year!
Does anyone have issue with Text Message being slow? I'm using the stock Message App come with AT&T. It always take about at least 3 or 4 second to complete the sending (i.e. the spinning circle on every text). No matter how short or long the text is. Especially, group text is very slow. I think it's not the Network issue because I had Note 3 before and never have the issue.
Might do you some good to reprogram your phone. I do not know the number you dial for reprogramming though... Call AT&T or visit a local store.
I don't have issues with slow text messages myself. I have issues with my phone just randomly not getting them until I reboot. Any text messages sent between the time it stopped getting them and I reboot are lost. Not sure what causes it to happen. Happened a few times within a month then went months without happening and then just recently happened again...
I activated my ZF2 with cricket this past weekend (5 days by now) on the $40 plan and the service and call quality have been great. However I am still receiving messages on my old iPhone 4 and sometimes i can only read replies on it and they don't show on the ZF2. Has anyone else experienced this problem and how long should I expect this issue. The website states this should only occur for up to 8 hours.

Sounds strange. I just switched from Cricket, put my sim in my phone and everything switched over almost instantly. Old phone stopped working almost immediately after I did the activation and after a few hours things were good.
I plan on switching to Cricket from MetroPCs when I get mine in today. Glad to hear that it will work with this phone.
Are you sure you are not getting iMessages instead of SMS? Those will never switch...
I had this issue a while back when Cricket was Aio, one of our phones wouldn't get SMS messages... Had to call customer support and have them resend the port request (or re-broadcast something, I don't remember exactly), within a 30 minutes or so it was working.
Part of the porting process requires you to have your old phone OFF when the port happens, it should not be attached to the mobile network when the port occurs or errors can occur... That is why the instructions for activation specifically state your old phone must be off when activate the new SIM.
No delay with Cricket for me.
It sounds like the OP is receiving imessages. The iphone without a sim card should receive sms.

I think you mean an iPhone without a SIM CANNOT receive sms messages.
I have the same thought, that the messages are from iMessage and not SMS. I use Cricket and have no delays unless I am in an area with little or no reception (I travel a lot for my job so it happens from time to time). Back in the bad old days of Verizon I would sometimes not get texts until days later... ugh.
My wife's Capitvate Glide stopped receiving texts a couple of days ago. The phone is running stock ICS, not rooted. She can send texts just fine, and she can make and receive phone calls. ATT says they don't see anything wrong on their end. I've tried rebooting, pulling the SIM and battery, but it still doesn't receive texts.
Hi
I found that as a possible answer:
AT&T indicated that it was a problem with the network registration, given every piece of my phone's communication worked except for receiving SMS. This turned out to be true. The solution was to put the sim card in another phone, which overrode the network registration for my number. After about a minute, the second phone received all of the texts that the first had not been able to get, and then I could move the sim card back into my regular phone and receive texts as normal.

The woman at the ATT store did that and it did fix it, sort of. Later in the day the phone was still receiving texts but could not send them - it just said "Failed". I pulled the battery for about 15-20 minutes and that issue was fixed.
I think we'll be getting a new phone for my wife soon...
