HELP PLEASE...power button has stopped working!!

today i applied an XO skin and i applied the wet applicator only once and squeegeed the water out just like the instructions says and now for some reason, my power button has stopped working and sometimes it does work but it acts as if im holding down the power button and my power menu options pop up..... i bought this device unlocked from Expansys_USA and their customer service is done for the weekend....should i try putting it in rice?? im freaking out right now....this is not cheap, and i am seriously gonna be pissed if it was cuz of the XO....HELP.... :'(

How soon after applying the skin did you put your battery back in the device and try to turn it on?
Usually, you have to wait at least 24hours after applying a wet skin to have enough time for it to dry safely.

well thats the thing...i hated how the screen protector looked so i took it off and got rid of it, and then i turned on the phone......it was fine for a while, and then it just stopped working.....i have no idea what Expansys's warranty is on their unlocked phones either

This happened with my Captivate some time ago. I think it might have been from dropping it. The SAME EXACT thing happens when trying use the power button on the captivate. Sometimes it work fine for a few pushes, other times it will act like I held it down on a push, and sometimes when just holding it, it pops the power menu up. I think the contact inside the switch is busted and floating around. When it touches, it activates. Therefor, it can be activated by shaking the phone. I can replicate it on my Captivate.

Those buttons are pretty much tiny little switches on the PCB. They probably got water in them if they work sometimes, and then don't work - and sometimes seem stuck on.
You'd need to clean the switch with some contact cleaner of some kind... but you'd need to take apart your phone most likely. You don't really want to get that all in your phone, or on the screen. It might ruin the coating on the screen, or damage other stuff depending on what type of cleaner you used.

Hopefully this fixes his. I still have a captivate with a non working power button. Cleaning it didn't help.

it is easy to fix once you disassemble the housing you just pry open the power button and clean the contacts

you remove the black tape around the power button so you can see the contacts just clean them and you are good
bear in mind that you don't have to disassemble the boards like the video , just the housing

Thanks guys! I left it in rice overnight and now everything seems to be working perfect! Oh man....I was so scared! I bought this mofo unlocked! Its funny how when u actually try to protect it, it just ends up getting worse! I'm done with wet applies, I'm keeping it naked! Lol
Edit: its still doing the same thing again...spoke too soon......well kinda....its not doing it nearly as much

[Q] Adjusting Trigger Buttons?

I had my new xperia play delivered yesterday, and while I'm really pleased with it overall, there's one thing that's slightly offputting. The right trigger button feels far looser than the left, and requires much more force to register when playing a game etc. It also seems to be sitting slightly higher up than the left.
Is there any way to adjust the 'tightness' of the trigger? It's not the end of the world obviously, but it is quite annoying for a new phone, particularly as it's a button that is going to be used regularly.
Apologies if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything about it on the forum.

The screw on the inside adjacent to the button can influence it, but do not screw it too much because might will cause it to become lose. You will need a size T5 torque bit.

Do you mean the screw directly behind the trigger, underneath the battery cover? I thought that could be related, but the screw appears as if it is already as tightly screwed as possible?

I haven't look at it very much, but if you unscrew them all and pry the back off, you will be exposed to the entire mechanism and see if you can adjust it.

I think I'll try this, though I'm not really enthusiastic about taking the back off entirely. Would this invalidate my warranty?

Well in that case maybe you should get an exchange, but really they would hardly notice if you just unscrew it and put it back and its quite easy to do. If you bought it new and the factory sticker on the box was not removed, then it wouldn't be acceptable to have this issue. If you didn't have a factory sticker then its wasn't new.

Unfortunately this is not uncommon, my R trigger is *slightly* more sensitive than my L trigger, anyone playing on my phone would never notice it unless they were purposely looking for something to complain about. My suggestion to you is to hold down the R button and insert the edge of a trading card and run it thru gently taking any dust or dirt with it, then get a damp microfiber, take off the battery cover and wipe down the R button. I do this every couple of months to keep my triggers clean

It does have the factory sticker, but getting a replacement this early on is quite annoying. I think I'll try adjusting it, and if that has no effect, I'll get it replaced. Thanks for your help.

[Q] Galaxy Note 2 S Pen Slot Loose

I know that there is already a thread about the loose of the spen but when I put it in the slot, it's a little wobbly but its locked inside. I wanna ask if anyone's the same.

I have found this to be the case in all devices with a stylus of some kind. With repeated use the fit of the stylus isn't as firm as it would have been in the beginning.

Yeah the same thing has happened with me too, it doesn't feel like it will fall out or anything but if you tap the screen near it you will hear it rattle a little bit, also if you touch it while in the "silo" it wobbles

Easy fix to keep the S pen in place.

I upgraded from the note 5 to note 8. Love them both but I've lost or broken several pens for both phones. Last time I replaced the S pen I added a drop of super glue to the back of the S pen- just enough to make a small bump on the back of the pen- and let it cure for the night. It's been several months now and even after several drops it hasn't fallen out. Stays nice and snug. If you apply too much glue, just lightly sand or shave the cured glue until the pen fits like you want it. Be careful not to apply too close to the button on the pen- back of pen is best- or the button may stick. And unless you want it to be a permanent part of the phone.... make sure the glue is FULLY cured before it is reinserted!?

Not sure if anyone is having this problem But my spen will make noises like it's being pulled in and out when it's completely secured in the port for it. Sometimes taking it out and rotating it helps but not long term. If you know how to fix, have the same issue, or know what to do about it let me know.

No one has this issue other than me? I did have a green line through my screen and sent it back to samsung which they fixed. Probably a new screen. No other ideas how to fix this issue though. I've had to detach my spen cause it's driving me crazy.

Sounds faulty to me. Mine only does that when it actually comes out

Mine did this. I just wrapped some clear tape around the top of the spen.
12.5mm tape, and just wrap it approx 1.5 times around.
Carefully check it, fits back in the slot. If you think it's too big then remove tape and re-apply. It's better than getting the spen stuck,

Looks like I'm the first moron to get their S-pen stuck. Yay.

No idea what happened. I just slid my s-pen into the body, no problem, but the cap didn't click back out past the o-ring to be flush with the body. It now sits in the body just past the o-ring/seal and will not come out. No idea WTF to do, but this is WAY worse of an issue than people putting the pen in backward on the 5. This wasn't avoidable. Pushing it in further, there's no feedback click and there's not enough force in the spring action to move it back out past the o-ring/seal. Not fun. Kinda pissed.
Any idea on how to coax it back out without scratching or gouging the finish anywhere?
*Update*
Using a thumbtack I very carefully poked the seal all the way around with the side of the point and was able to lightly pry it in a corner to get the end of the pen past the seal. Everything is fine now. Everything still works.
Note to everyone, it takes almost no pressure at all to get the pen seated properly, if you push it in too far (because you have fat fingers and you can't tell how far you're going past your case, like me) it can get stuck on the seal. Lightly press the pen back in and when it clicks, it's seated, stop pushing.

Don't know what o-ring or seal you are referring to. The s-pen chamber is sealed off. I doubt the pen docking hole is sealed itself since you can use the pen underwater anyway. Also, stop pushing when you feel the pen click back into place? Okay, but then you have to push fairly hard to retract the clicky pen top. All of that pressure is trying to push the pen further into the phone first, and since it can't go anywhere, the pen top retracts instead. I'm not following what you're saying at all.

This happened to me too. Had to use the tip of a pin to get the S-Pen button to pop back out again. Not sure why it happened, but there's a big YouTube video on this exact issue with the Note 7. Mine happened ironically after I did a water test in the bathroom sink to test the water resistance of both the phone & the pen. It passed the test - just under a minute under a couple inches of water.
What gives?

Just wanted to say this happened to me too, also after getting it wet. I had to use a razor blade to pry it out l, luckly I didn't scratch anything though.

My bad, I'm talking about the new ridge that blocks the pen from being able to go in backwards. It's got a rubberized finish at that ridge and that is where the click tip got hung up.

One phone does not make an "issue." If it's an issue you'll by joined by others in short order. Until then your phone or S Pen has a singular defect. But thanks for queuing the OMG! crowd so this thread can grow needlessly to multiple pages like the RAM and glass scratching threads.

By worse of an issue I meant that putting then s-pen in backwards problem with the Note 5 was as simple as not putting the s-pen in backwards... That's a user error situation. If more people start having the same issue as I had with the Note 7, during normal use, that's an absolutely true statement for me to have made. And 3 people have apparently had the same thing happen to them thus-far. Maybe it's not something that will effect everyone. Just sharing my personal experience.
I apologize if it seemed I was aiming at stirring things up, as tone isn't something one can convey well using text. That was not my intent. I just suspected that this might be something we see start popping up a bit in the forum. For $850+ USD it's not something I expected to happen and my initial shock may have weighted my words/tone incorrectly.

The clicky button on top of the S Pen can sometimes get stuck outside of the Note7, too. Take yours out and instead of a quick click to lock it down, click and hold for a few seconds then let go. It will stay down and you'll have to fiddle with it to get it back up. I was able to replicate this a few times yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be doing it now. Hopefully it stays like that.

Im sorry to hear all that. I heard of the note 5 people putting there sitck in backwards. I had the ntoe 3 and note 4 edge, never try to put my stick in backwards ever.
But this is just putting it in just a little to good lol...
I do worry that the clicker on the spend will go out it and it will be hard to remove but never thought it would just get stuck from pressing it in to hard.

This is way worse than note 5 reverse spen issue. Anyone in right mind wouldn't push pen in reverse as nib will be facing opposite which fingers should know as reflex when sliding in and to actually get to jam force needs to be applied. Note 7 stuck spen problem is like it happened even when one put it back as one is supposed to put it back. Hope Samsung will release bug fix firmware patch soon

Speak for yourself... Most people I know bought the note specifically for the S-pen... Once they started using it it became second nature.
Just because you don't use it much does not a mean others don't...

This sucks. I hope it is just yours (sorry, I'm not sorry) and not a wide spread issue. One way to avoid this issue is to click the top of the spen before inserting it into the device. I know you shouldn't have to, but its just a suggestion.

wut? I use it all the time. Its better than your finger for almost anything. I find it more comfortable than my finger, even when swiping.
I haven't had a Note since my N3. Have the capacitive buttons always been responsive to the SPen or is this new? I dont think my N2 or N3 were.

I find it extremely amusing that every year Note users have to have their annual "Stuck Pen" thread.

Also, if you hold the phone with the pen slot facing away from you, and tap the other bottom corner on your hard with sufficient force, the pen will come out. Just so you don't have to dig your pen out.

Same issue here the pen's spring gets stuck and then you cant remove it from phone. Get a new phone they didn't wan to replace the pen only.
