Hey y'all. So I just got this phone yesterday. Coming from a Moto X4 I fried. In my rush and stupidity, I went to insert the SIM card and stuck the tool in the top hole of the brand new G7 Play. This was the SIM card eject hole location on the X4. On the G7 play though, I think it's the top microphone. Think I destroyed it. Cover the bottom mic and no one can hear me on calls. When using aux cable to talk on the phone in the car, my friend couldn't hear me this morning. Is there any hope of getting this fixed or replacing it myself? Can't believe I ruined the top mic the night I got it by rushing.
Yeah you can open the phone up and replace the whole mic if you can find that part online. Otherwise go to a unofficial repair center and they probably have the spare parts.

My phone took a quick swim the other day. Everything works except when I make calls it causes tons of static and I can hear the other person but they can't hear me. The weird thing is with headphones in or on speaker phone the phone works perfectly.
I thought maybe the ear piece speaker was to blame, but I bought a new one and replaced it, and still no luck. Any other thoughts on what may be the issue?
Thanks!
One of the connections came loose to the mic probably.
Happened to me on a old school PS2 headset, I could hear other people and they were all yelling saying I was hurting their ears.
Took the headset apart and sure enough found the unattached connection.
them not being able to hear you when normal call tells me the main mic has failed.
Normal calls use the second mic for noise cancelling only. Speakerphone use either, or just have them swap roles. I can't really tell. The main mic is part of the usb connector assembly. try reseating it first.
I just reseated it i believe. I took the screw out at the bottom of and removed the bottom block (of course after taking the phone apart). Still same staticy noise.
How do I have the speaker phone switch which mic it uses? Maybe I can pinpoint the issue and then order a replacement part?
I know this is an old post, but any progress on this? My nexus is having the exact same problem. I've already replaced the charging port/mic cable and the problem is still there. Thanks
That is all I had to do to get it fixed (replace port/charging + mic cable/ribbon at the bottom of the phone).
Alright, I ordered 2 replacement cables so I'll try another one when I get home later. Thanks for responding
A few days ago I noticed that there is a little black thing that looks like a bead in the headphone jack. I thought it was something that got stuck in there, but when I put my headphones in and pulled them out the black bead resurfaced, so I thought it was something to keep dust out or something.
About an hour ago I was curious and got a paperclip and pushed the bead back down, but it didn't come up. I then tried to put headphones in and they will only go in to the first ring and then just fall back out.
Is there anything I can do?
Can I get it replaced for free with my insurance?
Thanks.
Not to sure about insurance. But the headphone jack Is easy to replace. Go find a galaxy s3 replacement headphone jack on ebay. Really simple to do. Take off the back cover, remove your battery, undo some screws, and then the headphone jack, just clips on and off the motherboard.
But I'd call a local sprint store first and ask if they can replace it. That or they will ask to repair it etc
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I called and since there isn't a Sprint store near me they are sending a new phone in the mail. Thanks!
is there any site or place where i could purchase a Lg optimus G microphone pcb replacement i think that mine is faulty it does not pick up sounds unless i speak directly in which it picks up sounds perfectly loud and clear but if i talk normally beside my ear it does not really pick up sounds. If any one else can shed some light on this situation it'd be highly appreciated. Also could it just be microphone needs readjustment or something like that internally , im awaiting my T5 Torx screw set which should arrive on monday and i'll take the phone apart then and see.
For noise killing purposes, optimus g has 2 mics.
I believe one of them is dead, so phone cutting your voice cause detecting it as a noise.
Just send the phone to service center
the thing is i bought this phone from overseas korean version and this phone hasnt been released in australia yet and i dont think it's covered under warranty =/. The mic on the top is the noise cancellation and the bottom one is used for calls etc. The bottom mic can work fine if i speak directly at it or close to it i can even make voice commands with google search no problem but if i hold it further away say to my ear like a normal phone call, it hardly picks up my voice and google search doesn't work anymore. if i call some one and use speaker it works fine. i think the microphone usb pcb flex needs replacement or adjustment maybe some dust or something is stuck idk i guess i'll have to see on monday when i can open it up. Im up for any suggestions on resolving this problem so i appreciate all reply's.
Hello, sorry for the wall of text.
Since August I' ve had a problem concerning the internal speaker, where extreme buzz would appear during music, calling and ringing, in irregular times. At first, tapping the back and/or pressing the back plate firmly would solve the problem for a short time. Frustrated, I opened the back plate and tried to raise the speaker contact legs a bit, this helped only for a day, then the buzzing reappeared. Opened the backside second time, and accidentally cut the ribbon cable for the sim holder and nfc. rendering SIm cards useless.
Afterwards, I sent the phone to a repair shop, and bought the new spare parts, which are sim card holder and internal speaker.
The thing is, the buzz is still there, as the repairman says, and now the phone, while recognises sim card, cannot connect to network...
What could have gone wrong? Can anyone elaborate on my problem? Thank you.
P.S My phone used the .96 FW with Zultra framework and lots of addons, which worked perfect before I wrecked the ribbon cable.
Update: Phone can connect to network properly now, but sound problem remains. Both the internal speaker, the earpiece and the microphone have a buzzing sound. What could it be? Please help me, since I don't have the phone for nearly 2 weeks.
Please, someone with an opinion?
Hi all,
My headphone socked stopped working properly and was only coming out of one ear so I went online and ordered another one, fitted it and then after a month or so it stopped working too. I complained to them and they sent me a replacement one but this one didn't work from the start. It doesn't even make the kind of 'click' noise that the headphones usually make when clicking into place.
I am thinking to order a new one but I am just wondering, is there anything actually wrong with the headphone sockets or is it just a case of it sliding out of place somewhat or the little spring type connectors being bent down or something.
Has anyone actually just repaired theirs and not ordered a new socket? If so, what did you do?
Thanks

First of all don't buy any other headphones try to lend headphones from friend or family that are working and they can confirm they're work...
next try to clean headphone jack with isopropylealcohol like in this video (before cleaning just pull out battery just for safety, after cleaning give it some time to dry out, it's really important)

and test it and you'll see, if there will be still same problem your jack connector is gone and need repair
