Just got a Pixel 3A XL - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

I just purchased a pixel 3XL 260.00 US 350 CND Used
Can anyone please tell me what are the few things I should do with it I'm going to upgrade to Android 11 right away
My pixel 1 the battery is about pooched so I thought it was time I update it
I want the pixel Forest being completely out of stock in Canada this was cheap enough I decided to take the plunge
Thanks

Congrats on your new used phone - but please clarify something: your OP title says 3aXL, but your first sentence says 3XL and in your signature it says you have a 3aXL 128 GB but the 3aXL is only 64GB - so do you have a 3XL or a 3aXL?

Pixel XL vs Honor 8

I've had the pixel XL since launch and I absolutely love it. On the other hand, I bought my wife an honor 8 and that phone is incredible. Has so many awesome features baked right in to the OS, just as fast(maybe just as fast, haven't tested it extensively) and it's half the cost of the pixel.
I'm torn on whether I should sell my XL and buy the honor 8 and keep about $400 or just stay with the pixel..
Anyone have an honor 8 that can help me out? Is it worth it?

I have both, depends on what's important to you. The software & updates are the big bonus of the Pixel. The camera on the Pixel is a lot better in point and shoot, but the Honor has some great manual option.
If / When we get a working CM/LineAgeOS for the Honor 8 then it's a totally different conversation, but by that time what phones will be on the market? I think if the Pixel had a better design then nobody would be asking this question. The Pixel is a Stealth fighter in a Zeppelin frame!

Buy pixel 3A XL from the Philippines

Can anyone tell me where to buy a brand new or similar condition 3A XL here in Philippines?

Pixel 3a and 3aXL rom compatibility?

Are the roms cross compatible with the 3a and 3axl or the 3axl and the 3xl? Seems like it should work.
Bump
Another bump...
Far as i know 3a xl and 3xl are completely different phones. As I stated in another thread i would GUESS that any 3a or 3a xl room will work on the opposite phone then they were made for assuming you load the correct kernel for the phone after loading the rom and before rebooting.
No... The 3A and 3A XL are completely different phones, although they have a lot of hardware in common and are very similar to the user except the screen size, they are each unique devices with unique firmware. ROM's are not interchangeable.
That said, if a developer had both devices I don't think it would be extremely difficult to take a 3A ROM and modify the source and recompile for the 3A XL or vise-versa.

Pixel 4a 5G will be the 4a XL?

Who is buying the "4a XL" because of the bigger display?
I am.
Will be upgrading from a OnePlus 6t, CPU performance is similar between the SD845 and SD765G.

Phone size comparison with the Pixel 4a: https://j.mp/2QFNDtU
The Pixel 4a looks really small compared to the OP 6T!

It does, but this is the forum for the 4a 5G which is similar in size to the OnePlus 5:

I'll be upgrading my PIxel 3a XL to this 4a 5G. I haven't had a daily driver phone for this long in forever so I'm ready for an upgrade.

Thanks for the link. I had to add the 4a, because the 4a 5G is not yet in their database.
I am returning the 4a and getting the 4a 5G
So, I've been holding off on getting a new phone for a long time. I said to myself that I wouldn't buy another phone until a decent sized 5G phone comes out that's not $1000 or more. I've been using the Nexus 6P since I bought it when it was released . The day It arrived in the mail I unlocked it, rooted it and started flashing all sorts of roms and mods until the last Resurrection Remix was released on Oreo and have hung with it since, going through 4 batteries, 3 displays, 2 charging ports and 1 fingerprint sensor. I picked up one inexpensive tablet in the meantime to entertain myself but have finally been able to order the new Google Pixel 4a 5G which should arrive around November 20th. It's going to be a huge difference in specs between the two devices and although from what I understand the software in the Pixel 4a 5G is really good, I'm definitely looking forward to getting the latest Resurrection Remix rom when it's available. I hear it's available for the Pixel 4a and it's excellent. Anyone else waiting to get their hands on this device to start running custom roms and modifying the crap out of it?

Hilarious that I read this, the 6P is still my all time favorite phone, hands down. The size, thin-ness (is that a word) and just overall loved the 6P more than anything. I just got my 4a 5G this week and need to activate it. I did find out today it won't fully work in the VZM 5G UWB band.... which is a bummer, but oh well.
I need to dust off my 6P and update it, just for the memories.

I really liked the 6P myself. Wish I didn't crack the digitizer on it or I'd still use it as a backup. I have my original galaxy nexus as well. That was a good phone back in the day but I didn't realize just how slow it is until I fired it up about 6 months ago. First phone I ever unlocked and rooted. What a great phone the 4a 5G has been so far, I don't have any complaints about it. As far as I know there's no custom recovery for it yet so I'm still holding off on rooting it. There's not a lot of mods and only one custom ROM but I'm sure there are people working on it. Get yours activated, you'll like it.

Bought 4a 5g for the price, and battery life, same camera as pixel apparently

I would prefere the compacter size of the Pixel 5, but the 'under-display' speaker is a no-go for me. I will wait for the 5a! ;-) My 4a5G is still in it's unopened box, since my Pixel 2 is running official LineageOS with current security updates and does all I want.

2021 Unlimited Original Google Photos Backup on Custom ROM

Hi all,
Really enjoying using the Pixel XL.
Was wondering if the Original Quality Google Photos is working on non stock roms such as Lineage OS?
Was hoping to jump onto Android 11 but still getting the awesome Google Photos upload feature?
Thanks!

I recently picked up a pre-owned OG Pixel (did had OG Pixel XL - Google Ed. before, sold it) and managed to root it ("PVT" build) after unlocking bootloader (whew) and got LOS 17.1 installed (Android 10) - not running Magisk (yet ... might not need to) According to Play Store, device status is not certified but still - Google Photos recognized mine as Pixel 3 now. "You're backing up in Original quality, which is free & unlimited for Pixel 3 until Feb 1, 2022"
I have another one, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite running a custom rom, device status is certified and Google Photos "Backing up in Storage saver from Pixel is free and unlimited"
Same with me.
Pixel XL (original owner), and under photos/manage storage it states, "you're backing up in original quality, which is free& unlimited for pixel 3 until Feb 1 2022".
Device runs LOS with magisk.
I assume this is new since 6/1, but don't know for sure.
