Hello, I have the S9 for almost a week now and i think its getting hot sometimes with just a normal use (facebook, internet etc. not gaming). Whats the ideal temperature is should have. i think its getting warm on the upper screen and a little on back at camera place. While charging is a little bit warm but i think its normal. Should i send it for a test or getting a bit warm is normal?

Have you looked at the battery or CPU temperature for your phone? I'm wondering this too about my own. I sit at around 85 F (29.4 C) while it is in my pocket. It gets down to 72 F (22.2 C) while on the table. That's about the room's temperature.
Definitely getting warmer during certain use than my S8+ ever did (I remember noticing that it pretty much never got hot) or even my Note 8.
I have an Exynos version though so probably has something to do with how inefficient it is when the cpu ramps up.
Haven't noticed any warming on normal use. When gaming, yes specially pubg. Not too much coc.
SD variant.
Is it about 22,5C CPU temperature when not used, its the same with rooms temperature. after 15 mins of use for example scrolling on FB it reaches 35C both battery and CPU (from AIDA64). Battery also drains fast. Last night 30 mins of scrolling on FB lost 10. Screen brightness is always less than half. and only WiFi and sync are enabled. AOD disabled. Bixby button and bixby home page disabled. While sleeping also battery loses about 8-10%. Yesterday with 15 mins driving with google maps the screen was burning.

Hello brother, I was gonna buy s9. How's the gaming performance specially pubg? What max settings can it run? Thanks.
Anyone knows where can I locate cpu temperature file of s9?

Honestly, i would recommend it. Even the plus. For me tho carrying more than one phone for work and stuff it got old having the s8+. But for the s9, man the stereo speakers sound great. Much better than last yr but of course they werent stereo so diff is noticeable. As for pubg, i really have messed with resolution and looks great i think im on fhd. While playing tho the s9 does warm up, havent checked exact temp but its noticeable. Cant say if it does the same on the s9+. Hope someone can confirm.
I look at it this way, like having a macbook air for gaming vs a macbook pro, the air will make more noise and warm up vs the pro.
Has anyone tried out this app yet?
I installed yesterday and its pretty awesome. It seamlessly adds a AOD to our phones that is similar to the galaxy phones. It has tons of optimizations from edge lighting, to notifications, to even having the fingerprint work while the AOD is on. and the UI is way better then the other apps I have tried.
I just installed it last night and it has been going good so far. I have not messed with the edge lighting as much tho. and the battery doesn't seem to be to drastic but I will update after I have it running for a while.
I am not associated with the app, just wanted to share my findings for an app that could bring us our beloved AOD to our phones with better UI and functionality.

Beautiful app with tons of settings. Will try this out and hope the battery consumption is not that much. Thank you for the hint.

Yea, its not perfect, I found it works if you keep your finger on the sensor after the AOD goes away.
So after 10 hours, it is really eating the battery, but I have the setting so it's not considering my battery. I'm pretty sure if I tweaked it and let it run a day without messing around with the app this 30% would be lower. But non the less that is still pretty high.
Nice
Giving this app a try, so far lots to play with, the additional features are less than a regular cup of coffee from you favourite outlet.
The Oneplus notifications are p**s poor so nothing to loose.
7 hours overnight with flight mode: 19% battery.
Normally it would be 3-4%
But the rainbow notification thing was turned on. I'll try it again without rainbow notification border

Yea, I am going to see how much it pulls today with some settings changed and not messing around with the app as much.
For me the app looks great, but battery consumption is really high. Checking some settings, but I think it's not possible to keep the consumption down.
Battery drain was still about the same without rainbow notification.
Deleted it because it's not worth it for me

I turned on raise to wake and glance display to see if that helps, but the same for me, the battery consumption is really high, sad because its a really decent app and a nice looking AOD.
Power drain is bit high.
Yes but you have big SOT
Considering the app isn't a system app then the battery drain is normal. Glance display for me does not drain anything. Having the app on 24/7 will drain power because the screen is on. New update just came out with doze mode option for root users...I'm going to see if it improves battery while app is on without glance display.
Best free app for aod but it's a big battery drain
For me, it seems that the possibility to extend edge light to top real edge is missing. I get the edge light to get only under the top bar and not to the top edge of the bar.

It does, set the app to run full screen.
Drains about 1% every 15 min for me.

It must be some application you are having that it drains your battery. Mine is 0.4%/hour on LTE.

Hmmm, your s20 is showing amazing stats. It is not any particular app. I am sure device js taking time to seetle.
Are you on 120?
My screen on consumes too much 16% an hour.
After returning one handset to O2 thinking it was faulty because of the standby drain I got my 2nd one
A exynos chip S20.
After changing all the settings such as refresh rate, dark mode, disabled apps, sleep settings, always off, 5g ... It still drained something terrible.
I dropped from 100 to 77 percent in 1 hour, checking the battery stats there was no single app using it.
I did find that after a factory reset and manual install of apps (not smartswitch) it lasted a little longer but no way I'd get through a work day one one charge

Don't know what settings you have or what's wrong with yours, but I have the US Snapdragon S20+, and my battery is absolutely awesome, standby drain included. My settings are dark mode, hidden 96hz refresh rate, WiFi full-time (damn COVID19), optimized mode for battery, location and Bluetooth on full-time, no NFC on ever, and automatic brightness settings. Like I said, I've gone 2 full days on a charge before, but pretty much always get around 36hrs, with 9-10hrs of screen on time. I'm loving this phone ??

This is crazy figures! I don't get why Samsung are rpping Europeans off with the crappy exynos models. I have the exynos variant and need to turn aeroplane mode on overnight and get 0.4/hr drop.
Sot is usually about 8-9%/hr so from a full charge I should expect 9-10hrs SOT. I have had to fiddle with my settings a lot though.
Rubbish.
Do you guys have auto sync on? That affects battery but I don't know how bad it affects it.
Love to know how. Iv sacked off the device now. #worsehandsetever lol
That's issue with exynos have to do a lot of tinkering disabling apps and other stuff turning location and sync off and aod, ridiculous really, seems like snapdragon is top drawer straight out the box
I wonder how many people jumped into this thread to give a 1 star after owning the phone for less than a week. Give the phone time to learn your usage patterns, jesus christ.
dear all,
I managed to reduce the standby battery drain for Exynos.
Now if you don;t use the phone the battery won;t get consumed.
I am using Package Disabler Pro and some bloatware xml
i will create a thread here step by step how to.
cheers.
My S20+ Exynos drains about 0.3% overnight. Nothing special, wifi always on, sync on, 120 hz.
I had S10 SD version and it was draining 1.5-2% overnight on same settings
My s20 ultra exynos drains the same, ~2% overnight, but that is after ATD3 update
Always I am getting very bad results
I swithed off 5g and screen is running at 60htz
Battery drain on stand by is around 2% on wifi and around 4% if i use 4g data
Other thing that my phone is warm almost all the time.
I disabled many apps but with no improvment.

I've s20 Exynos.
My battery is draining 15% per hour on 120hz mode and 12% on 60hz mode when screen on. Is this normal?
I've asked samsung customer care and they said it's normal but I used OnePlus 6t before and it take only 8% per hour.
Please advise me.

explain more : wifii or 5g ? Bluetooth on ? gps ? sync ? how many apps notifications on ? instagram? facebook??

4g mobile data, gps, bluetooth and sync off
Aod off, nearby scanning off
Bixby off, Lower brightness, Dark mode on
Did all battery optimizations settings
Only browsing web with chrome. No background apps running. Not using Instagram and Facebook
It is completely normal for exynos version (unfortunately). Snapdragon versions have better battery life, but your SOT is among better results for exynos versions of s20.

I would like to know how much battery per hour does Snapdragon version consume when screen on. I'm expecting answer from Snapdragon s20 users. Please let me know guys
its normal even i had doubts in my s20 exynos version but with 120hz and 60 hz doesnt get much difference my phone overall goes 1 day on heavy usage eg.. wifi on, fb insta scrolls, location only for health app and camera app... bixby and other features are turned off... gaming of 1 hour asphalt usually consumes 25% of battery which seems too high but wait its september 24 and no patch has released this month..wait i guess a big fix is coming on the way
I'm still expecting battery life from s20 SD users. Please answer me guys

perhaps you can change to 96hz
I have snapdragon s20 ultra. Everything on. 60htz. 1080. Get 1 hour screen on time with about 8% to 9%
Regular ol' S20 (g981W) SD. Not debloated, just apps disabled where possible . Sure it's an avg # but true

It is true that i have debloated it, and have most apps on deep sleep (except mail and few other), so i limit background activity.
I also use "galaxy max hz" mod so i can force low refresh rate and batery saving on screen off.
Thank you very much. I'm thinking about s20fe and 21fe. However, when I watch yt and see what are the temperatures or the results on the battery, it rejects me a bit
I understand. I moved to s21 FE from upper mid range galaxy a8 (2018). I i would say that battery efficiency on s21 fe is a bit lacking. I am not a power user so with the old phone i needed to charge oproximately every 5 days. With this one optimised as best i could i reach 3 days, maybe 4. I know that it has bigger screen and faster refresh rate and those things impact battery life a lot, but i would say that snap 888 has an inefficient standby or the low power cores are still too power hungry for my taste...
Don't get me wrong i love the phone, and am happy that i switched. The main reason for me was getting an upper range camera sistem at a low as possible price, and i bought the phone through a samsung trade in program. Also in europe it is realy hard to get any galaxy phone with a snapdragon procesor...
Hope this helps you in deciding.
