C20 KernelHi all!
Here is my custom kernel for the beckham, it is based in the LineageOS SDM660 Kernel, with the fixes from @Jleeblanch
The aim of this project is to have a kernel with overclock capabilities in order to get the Snapdragon 636 more closer to the Snapdragon 660. The rest of the kernel will be remain untouched (or for the most part).
Features:
- CPU Overclocked Big clusger up to 2.45 ghz (default frequency set at 2.2 Ghz) Small cluster up to 1.9 ghz
- GPU model faked to Adreno 512, with this now games loads more optimized drivers aimed for the 512.
- For some reason CPU-Z detects the device as a Snapdragon 660 (I wouldn't call this a feature )

Update 03 Nov. 2020
- Added kernel Zip for Stock Rom (Pie)
How stable it is on overclocked speed?
Awesome to finally see some recent development for this phone. Are there an bugs with this kernel?
is it possible to download the original kernel version? when I use this kernel the moto fashion doesn't work correctly

Go here - https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/beckham/official/
Choose your channel (it's listed in settings), and download the zip. Unpack the archive, find the boot.img file, go to fastboot, then flash it to both slots.
Stoked about this. This phone has not gotte much love and just glad its starting to see something! Hoping to get the latest version of Android on this thing sooner or later.

It usually depends on your device, but I managed to get a stable OC at max Frequency. Regarding bugs, the kernel is 95% similar to the one found in LOS, only things that have changed are the frequency table, GPU model, and some minor tweaks.
I have also made Stock rom compatible kernel with OC capabilities. Tell me guys if you want it as well!
*Update*
C20 Kernel for Stock Rom is available.

It's a AnyKernel 3 script, so it should mantain your current recovery and root.
You can flash it via TWRP or any tool that supports flashing zips
Does this kernel have the TTL patch compiled in?
Thank you nach0x very much for this Kernel!
I flash the Kernel for Stock ROM about 2 weeks ago and it works perfectly so far. I got almost the same result in Geekbench, but as I notice in this Kernel the default Governor is Performance unlike the one for the LinageOS, where the Governor is Interactive. Does it matter?
And GPU is not changed to 512 on Stock Kernel like you said for LinageOS Kernel
Hi, it's me again. I am surprised that no one else is showing interest in this wonderful kernel tweak.
In a meantime, LineageOS presents the official 18.1 ROM for Moto Z3 Play based on Android 11. I use it for a while with no issues at all, also update it 2 times through the system update.
I try C20 Kernel on this ROM but have some bugs, the SIM cards don't work, and Moto Gestures also.
So, I want to ask if someone can try to make a new OC kernel for LineageOS 18.1, PLEASE! I am not a developer but I'm willing to try it and test its stability.

I was thinking about it last week, overall performance on Android 9/10 is really fine with OC. Is it possible comes to android R?
can i use it on pixel experience android 11?

This is a slightly modified kernel based off of cm's new d851 kernel rebase: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_lge_g3/tree/cm-13.0
I wanted to build something that's basic and reliable. If you're looking for a highly modified kernel I recommend Eliminater74's Nebula Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/kernel-nebulakernel-rev6-5-build20150715-t3161768
INSTALLATION
-------------------------
1. Make sure you know what your doing. If you're a noob then don't install this. I will not answer questions on how to install or fix your phone if you mess it up. Always backup first!
2. boot up into recovery.
3. flash the kernel zipped file.
4. Wipe cache.
5. Reboot.

Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your work
Good to see you expanding your horizons and delving into new challenges
If you guys use either kernel in any ROMs not listed just let me know and I'll add it to the compatibility list. If you're using the test kernel I just need to know if you get any kernel panics or boot loops. Thanks guys!
Going to put on the Pandas phone.. Evan after (clean) install of the new version he is crashing to blue/green screen.

Just installed stable and going to see what happens.
Stable is smooth and fast, great battery life.
Thanks to tootsiepop kernel and its author.
Currently running BlissPop 1/22 build with the experimental kernel. Flashed this morning before work so I haven't used my phone much since I flashed. I also have not had a chance to browse the thread regarding my issues. So for now....
First Impression - Smoooooth and quick just like Bliss should be.
Issue 1 - I had one kernel panic "BSOD" right before work. At the time I was playing with the Walkman music player port, which has been giving me issues. So it may have nothing to do with the ROM or kernel.
Issue 2 - my lg headset connects, but no music plays through the earphones.
Overall - VERY NICE WORK. No complaints at all, because I believe my issues are either my own fault or a CM issue.
Thanks for the upload aclegg
The stable and test kernel has been updated. Now on the test kernel we're testing the multirom patch. Remember to download the stable kernel in case the test kernel crashes!
I implemented the kexec patch in the new test build, but multirom says its not in the kernel. It could be because the kernel optimization levels are too high. Would you want to sacrifice smoothness for multirom support? I was able to get multirom working using a kitkat ROM as my primary with the skin kernel. And bliss pop is running with the speedy kernel as the second ROM just fine.

I'm might not support multirom. The whole point of this kernel is to increase optimization without losing stability. Stripping out the optimizations just to add multirom would contradict why I decided to work on this kernel to begin with.

Well ain't this a Nice Surprise, was wondering if you'd show up, well I suspected you may off, but still I didn't know when.....Hello Flar, Remember using your HTC Kernels and loved them.....
Brought to you by my RR Powered OnePlus 3T
Thank you so much! Will flash and report back any issues!
This couldn't be any better, thank you! ...have been the best kernel for my hammerhead (still enjoy my N5)
Sound & Video playback: So Kernel Is running smooth, however there is no sound & YouTube or any video the frame rates are very very slow, guessing a driver issue, on Stock 3.5.4 and flashed back before installing this Kernel, obviously this is important to have Functional sound & video.....

Just tested myself, indeed YouTube is slow and choppy/laggy and no sound.
Edit: Phone is actually making a popping noise even after closing all apps.
Edit: Tried clearing Dalvik / ART Cache & Cache, problems still present. Hopefully they'll fix soon.
Good!!!

By chance, can anyone provide stock kernel for 3.5.4? I wanna try flashing this but needing to flash whole OOS package again to revert is painful. Having a collection of stock kernels would help a lot on productivity.

Why not just take a nandroid backup and flash that? You can use adb pull/push commands to store them on a computer if space is an issue, or put them on a usb drive/hard drive via an otg cable.

No, that would be a mess. They are two different devices from the kernel's perspective.

I can take requests of course, don't be shy
I just want the kernel to be in favour of what seems good by users!
What is Anykernel?
You can skip this if you don't want to know how it works.
Kernels tend to have a fully built boot image ready, it just flashes everything and it may not PATCH the necassary files. This means you're gonna have to create a different boot image for different roms such S8 Ports, Note FE Ports and AOSP ROMS. Things such as compatibility maybe an issue also because new things may not be supported by old things (Newer RAMDISK on an older ROM).
That's when Anykernel comes into play. It only includes the zImage (actual prebuilt kernel), dtb (the instructions for hardware stuff), and patches used ontop of the stock ramdisk. It takes the previous/stock kernel, replaces dtb and zImage and then continues to patch the ramdisk. Voila, it's done. It makes it easier for the devs to work on the kernel and has better compatibility! It does come with it's disadvantages, It can't be flashed ontop of other custom kernels that have modifications in the ramdisk. The patch and ramdisk will cause some trouble because there interefering with each other alright!

How do I install this?
If you already have AOSP with it's stock kernel.
1) Reboot into recovery and flash it like normal
If you have AOSP with a custom kernel like PRIME, Prophecy or Primal.
1) Go to the AOSP ZIP you installed, extract boot.img from there.
2) Boot into recovery, flash the boot image. Don't forget to switch the option from ZIP to IMG if you can't find it in the directory you extracted it from.
3) Then go back to home screen in recovery, and go flash Excel Kernel
I really don't need to explain this in detail and such because if you got here it mean's you know how to install AOSP ROMS. It's pretty simple.

I'm very interested in using your kernel just wondering about the battery life and thermal issues. Whenever I play games it just heats up like crazy in aosp and battery life suffers coz of inefficiency. Just wondering if you've fixed these issues.
In AOSP, those issues are not gonna dissappear but you should see a notable difference. Theres things like hero-common and such I cant fix.

Ayy
Omg....Thermal issue has been pretty much fixed 0.0 however using stock settings did cause system shutdown when running geekbench. Needed to under clocked it significantly but it's so early so its amazing. Will use it the next couple of days and test for battery life
Alright, if you could tell me any sorta info related to the crash i can attempt to fix it

a few Misc questions
Hello,
What is typical battery life by default for the Kermit Kernel?
I'm not a gamer so don't do overclocking or highly intense graphics, for me good battery is essential, is there ways I can increase battery longevity?
Does the Kermit Kernel support fast charging by default or must it be enabled?
Does Kermit have support for VoLTE/HD voice and Wifi calling by default or can that be compiled in?
Lastly, does Kermit Kernel have support by default for the doubletap 2 wake feature (originally pioneered by the LG phones, the G2 I believe was first), or can it be compiled in?
Thanks.
Dave.
Hi,
First of great work! I'll be installing the kernel any minute now. I also wonder if it's possible to DT2W in the kernel. Have tried it myself but got lost fairly quick...
Keep up the good work!
Jules.
dt2w?
Hi,
I'd like to know how you atempted dt2w and where you got stuck?
DM me if you want.
What is the current status of kermit?
Thanks.
Dave.

GAPPS: DOWNLOAD GAPPS
First time installing crDroid to your ATHENE, or coming from another ROM:
** Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (CWM or TWRP)
1) Copy crDroid zip, gapps zip <--& vendor img, if applicable--> to your device
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe cache, system, & data (or just cache & system for a dirty flash).
4) Flash ROM
8) Flash gapps
9) Boot up
For root, AFTER you boot into the ROM, you can go back to recovery and install Magisk XX.x (whatever is most recent).
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
The only difference between clean flash as above and upgrading is you just wipe system & cache, leaving data. Everything else is the same. ***Remember to always clean flash before reporting problems. Clean flashing is always the best method of ROM install.
Don't expect any support if you:
- are not running the included kernel
- have installed any mods such as Xposed!
- have modified system files

Pretty good ROM already, considering it is a beta :good:
64 bit: there is a /system/lib64 folder
- Not lagging
- GPS fix not included (yet)
- OpenCamera: Flash doesn't seem to be in synch with exposure
With the bugs we already know don't have a solution, this rom is in very good shape! Crdroid starting in Oreo with style!
Working very smooth so far !
Just my Volte isn't Working
Anyways thanks for your efforts !!

This is a very good ROM, stable and fast. Tried it two days and found one bug: The torch d`ont work also not with a torch app. In Camera the flash is not in time.
Clean flash without Gapps but with Magisk.
Thank You for the good work!
Hey @Rkschunk, could you please provide me the device, kernel, vendor trees which you used for this build ? I'm trying to build crDroid for athene.
Official Crdroid has been posted in the Crdroid Site. You can download the new rom here.

For sure, always
However, nothing significant so far.
All major functionality is there (calls, data, wifi, gps, video, audio; camera works, flash synched in Cameringo,
AnTuTu score quite good; ROM is pre-rooted, ...)
Open your own XDA thread maybe?
In particular since your ROM seems to be 'official', in crDroid terms ...
(unless you are @Rkschunk ...)

What about lag?
32 bit are laggy (usually)

That's true, initially it 'felt' a bit laggy. I forgot to mention.
However, this is not easy to quantify, and right now it is not a problem for me.

Will fix with next build, it's just missing codename in anykernel3.sh
Kernel works as shared @TG on OOS, but it breaks offscreen gestures. Like O voor Camera and V for flashlight etc...
Maybe a look into?

I'll make different versions for oos and custom roms, it's broken on oos because of the fixes needed for custom roms.

Great job on this OP the battery life is pretty phenomenal with stormbreaker , but could you please fix the tap to show ambient display when the device is locked , whenever convenient? DT2W works perfectly , it's just single tap to show ambient display that isn't working . Thanks alot !
So why should people flash this over ElementalX?

Personally , the battery life has been far better for me on stormbreaker compared to elemental x , even though I set the latter to conservative at all times during the day . Also there's no lags or abrupt stutters with stormbreaker at all , it's smoother than the stock kernel and slightly more consistent in terms of performance than elemental x , atleast in my usage .
Hi, I have installed this kernel installed but I don't know if this is discontinued.
Thanks for your great work

Thanks will try that. Do I need to be rooted to see the benefits of battery life etc? As I am not.
Hi
I have a couple of questions regarding the kernel installation
Can I install the kernel on a stock rom?
If not If I decide to use a custom ROM, I will need to install the kernel before installing the custom ROM Right?
Currently, with Normal Usage (Reddit, Whatsapp, etc) I get around 5 Hrs SOT on 90Hz
Can I expect to see an increase in the battery performance if I decide to use this kernel?

Hi, yes you can run this kernel with stock ROM. Yes you will have a better performance with this kernel. I have around 7 or 8 hours per circle

Thanks for the reply.
My main issue is that Whatsapp I belive eats the better part of my battery and it causes an Issue.
So once I unlock my device(Before installation of kernel), all data is wiped correct?
