I saw that samsung released an update the other day. I have a sprint phone but I'm using an unlocked version firmware. I still haven't received anything?
That wasn't for the note 10 series.
OneUI 2.5 will be released to earlier Note phones after the Note 20 and Fold 2 are released.
Pretty much the Galaxy S, Note, and A serie will get the update. Also at least the Tab S5e, S6, and S7 will also get it it.

Ah ok I read somewhere the other day it was already rolling out to the 10's but they're was less features than the 20
Sammobile is pretty reliable. I haven't seen or heard anything about OneUI 2.5 being released before the Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2.
There may be some beta versions running around in the wild, but not the official version.

Some apps have been released, like Samsung Notes, that have One UI 2.5 features, this available on Galaxy store for Note 10/10+,9 and 8.
It may be you have glanced at one such article and misunderstood..

Received it yesterday on my Note 10+ with the 1st of September security patch...
If you are using gcam don't update on 2.5...samsung locked RAW on front cam for other apps...so no gcam on UI 2.5
Haven't received yet in the middle east
I flashed it on my Note 10 Plus a couple of days ago and it works very well.

Well, the thread title says all.
I'm not a developer and don't know if will be easy or not.
I ask for the experts, it will be easy for we get Note2 updates from the Note 3 or it is a different hardware and cannot be used the software from it?
Thanks
No, the update isn't from anther model, it's from Samsung,I mean, if Samsung want give it for us, it will be very very quickly, but Samsung do not want, because if note 2 get 4.3 too quickly, some people well not to but the new one. All about marketing.

The device it is the easiest to port from is the Note 8.0 I think. They are very similar. Almost identical.
Though its still hard..
why is mod locking up all Note 3 threads?
Because they don't have anything to do with the Note 2, what is also considered as "off-topic" in a section dedicated to the Note 2.
To OP. Why do you bother even think about this?! As soon as Note 3 comes out you'll get an update. These threads will get locked soon.

Note 3 have nothing to do with Note 2? What?
Note 2 has several variants but none of their roms can be ported/flashed to either device..so Note3 rom will no way be ported to Note2
Also Note2 will get update after months of launching note3(because of their marketing policy-no need to explain)

I think that my next phone will not be a Samsung. When i bought i choose it because Samsung said Note 2 was getting all the updates till Android 5.0, so i thought that they have good update policy (my previous phone was a motorola defy, and same thing there, no updates).
And about the "As soon as Note 3 comes out you'll get an update" citation, i think your wrong. Samsung is pushing everyone to buy a new device and not to make a good update policy for old devices

Oh, c'mon. Of course they wan't you to buy their newest device!! That's business 101!! What do you complain about? For companies doing marketing?! And we don't even need to discuss wether the Note 2 will get future updates or not. Given that even the S2 will get (or got?) 4.2.2 (delivered with 2.3 and got updated to 2.3.6>4.0>4.0.4>4.1.1>4.1.2) that's 6 updates including 4.2.2!!! Evene if it'll be late, im pretty sure it'll come.

I was saying that when JB 4.3 can be ported in old galaxy s with limited hardware and RAM then we can expect 4.3 for our note 2
It's called software optimization. ..
Not easy. .
And the note 3 is getting new s pen features in 4.3. . So Samsung does not want to release those features to note 2 before note 3 is launched.. plain simple. .just got to wait .

I would imagine it would have something to do with this tablet only being out for 6 months. How often do you find out about new Apple products? Or Toyota? Or anything else that matters?
I imagine the next Note 8.0 will be released next year and pretty much be a Note 3 in this form factor, but with a poorer camera and no flash. x.x
No offence, but there is not much point to this thread. Perhaps time for it to be closed.

The Note 10.1 Came out in August of 2012. The Note 8 came out in April 2013. The Note 10.1 2014 edition was released in October of 2013, roughly a year after the original. I expect the next version of the Note 8 to follow a similar yearly schedule.

Not surprised at all, guess it's time to get a GN5 or a GS6. :good:
Figures.
Well, unless Sammy puts the micro SD slot back in the Note devices I'll be jumping ship.
Not surprised, but sad! Maybe its time to try the Motorola X pure 2015 edition or the Nexus 6P.
Honestly, it would be nice to have, but this phone is now a full two years old. I think it's time we stop expecting Samsung to spend time upgrading us to the latest version of Android. They upgraded us to Lollipop, which I think they had some obligation to do, but I don't think we can expect them to keep doing so indefinitely.
As for my Note 3, It has started to show its age. I think I will be retiring it in the next few months. I have no idea what phone I'll get next. Maybe the iPhone 6.
LOL j/k.
I'd be happy with a damn 5.1 update to address the memory leak. It's insulting to stop updating on such a crappy revision.
As long as other snapdragons 800 keep getting updates I dont see any problem.
Paranoid, AOKP, Cyanogen, Slim, OmniROM, Dirty Unicorns, Darklord's ports! Who need Samsung? N3 is 2 years old, but it's still a beast.

I guess I'm not surprised, but I am very disappointed. The industry is really bad right now. I mean you only support one year of releases? The current Note 5, and last years Note 4? Sad. With how good phone have been in the last three or even four years they are more than capable to support a new OS. The Note 3 is still a powerhouse, and will probably be so for another three years at least. I'm thankful for the dev community, so at least we can still get the latest OS/ROMs with custom ones.
There is to be a grain of salt taken with this info, but...
http://www.justaboutphones.com/galaxy-s5-alpha-note-3-s4-android-5-1-1-lollipop-update/
According to the image, the 5.1.1 update is in testing for the Note 3 and will be finished sometime in November. I realize we won't get Marshmallow (which is fine with me, even though the Note 3 is more than capable of running it.) I'm just glad (hopeful, more like it) that we'll (maybe) get the 5.1.1 update. Once that gets old and the phone is truly non-supported, then I'll consider rooting and installing a custom rom on this unit.
Fingers crossed!
It pisses me off, is what it does, no 5.1.1 yet for this high $$$ device, its all about the damn money. I am not phone hopping any longer. My wife still has the device, and I can do nothing with it.....sad is what it is......

I just upgraded to the Note 4 for far less than $800 dollars. You don't have to get the newest released device in order to upgrade. And the Note 4 will get Marshmallow.

The note 4 will get marshmallow when android "N" is on the corner. So why spend money to upgrade from note 3 to note 4 if both of them are not getting upgraded to the latest android before android N is released (quater 2 or quarter 3 2016), when there would be a new wave of devices? Only newest samsung device can get upgrade in a timely manner.
So for those who are desperate for newest version of android, either get a nexus phone or upgrade to the newest device every year. Otherwise just stick with the old phone for two or three years and then buy the newest phone.

That's not really true. T-Mobile released the Lollipop update for the Note 3 only 6 months after it was announced by Google. And don't forget that the T-Mobile Note 3 got the Lollipop update before the Note 4 did. That's pretty damn good in terms of supporting older devices. And I totally expect the Marshmallow update for the Note 4 to be in the same time frame.
So I'd rather pay $400 every two years and have at least one upgrade to the most recent Android version, rather than wait three years and pay $800 to get the same version and then have the same problem of waiting three years again for the Android update cycle and the manufacturer phone release cycle to line up again.

Option 1(your option): upgrade from note 3 to note 4 and paying $400, you get a note 4 which can get the last upgrade to marshmallow around April, then become outdatrd again in September, you can enjoy 4 or 5 months of latest android. Marshmallow will be the last update for note 4, just like lollipop is the last update for note 3.
Option 2: hold the note 3, then next year around April, you can upgrade to note 5 for about $400, which will have marshmallow already. So for the same $400, you get a better phone which can be upgraded to android N in 2017.
Which option is better? Clearly, no point to upgrade from note 3 to note 4 at this time, Nov 2015.

Again, assuming that there is a similar upgrade cycle for the Note 5 as there was for the Note 3 vs the Note 4, the Note 4 will get Marshmallow before the Note 5. In addition, the Note 5 won't be $400 in April. That would still be 6 months from the release of the Note 6, so it would be around $600. So you pay $600 for a Note 5 when for 6 months and $200 more you can get the Newer release? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense now, does it?
In any case, the point is that people in this thread are complaining about not getting Marshmallow on the Note 3. Well, if you want Marshmallow, then you have to upgrade. You're going to have to do it eventually. That's why I would rather upgrade now, and get a better performing phone in addition to the comfort of knowing that I will in fact get Marshmallow. Or people can wait and keep whining about what they already know they aren't going to get.
I'll start. I have a P30 Pro. Was thinking of going for this phone. Its very nice looking indeed. But as hard as it is I'll hold off.

But Jesus look how pretty is it!

I'm disappointed that the Samsung rugged case isn't going to ship until after Labor Day. Looks like I will have to pick up a cheap TPU in the meantime. Amazon has a bunch in stock now. I was Note fan and never swayed until the note 7. I bought an axon 7 to replace the note 7. Went back to note with the note 8 cause of the great price they gave the note 7 owners. Sold note 8 a year later and got the OnePlus 6T. Sold the 6T and now have the 7 Pro. Let me tell you I have gotten around 6 firmware updates since the phone came out. Constantly improving the phone with the latest August security patch. The phone is just plain fast and beautiful. The dev community is very active and the phone is simple to root and flash roms. It has a 6.7 inch screen with quad hd.
Coming from a Nexus 6p that I ruined while changing my battery for the third time a few weeks ago (totally my fault). Using a Samsung SM-T825 and a novelty android small phone
(but with security updates) while waiting for my 10+. My last note was a Note 4 (bricked a few years ago, yeah I am kind of clumsy) . I did buy a Huawei mate 20 pro end of last year but got a refund due to the screen turning green.
I will be visiting often for accessories reviews and advices.
Giving up my AT&T note 9 for the note 10+ 512g aura black. Placed order through bestbuy this morning for a better deal. Sort of mad that at&t didn't include aura blue in the line up. Smh
trading in S10+, used to have a note and missed the pen. Ordered through Samsung as they are having a trade-in special & other free goodies.

The Aura Glow is different so I decided to give it a go, worst case scenario I'll dbrand skin it. Not to mention it'll be in a Pitaka case so there's that as well.
I completely agree with you about the OnePlus 7 Pro, ok but nothing to exciting. While I like the screen size of the 7 Pro the in hand feel of it killed it for me. It's a little to thick and heavy for my taste. The Note 10+ has a bigger screen, lighter and thinner than the 7 Pro.

Same here, just because for $540 (after tax) I've got the Note 10+ trading back the note 9, and extra (free) wireless charger and a battery pack.
The reason to spend the money - one stupid reason (on top of the fair price). I have the Samsung watch and I travel 10 days per month, and sometimes forget my watch charger.. What makes my watch a wearable brick.
I hope I won't get disappointed with reception. If it is par with the note 9, I will be a happy camper.
New OTA firmware update for the Note + 5G, brings a number of improvements plus September security patch.
Showing up on my handset as well - downloading now and will report back once installed!
(I'm relieved to see this update out just one day after the 4G update - this is *SO much better than OnePlus are doing with their 5G 7 Pro phone)

Nice to see any updates however small, but this one tackles a few area's....., nice & early in the month to which is great to see :good:
This is good news, I was getting slightly anxious about the update frequency for this 5G model here in Europe, since not as ubiquitous here as compared to S.Korea, feared we'd become the neglected siblings.
Now looking forward to the Android 10 beta, and hoping we'll get an invite to the party. Not so much for Android 10 per se, more for One Ui 2.0, since I don't see much difference from One UI 1.0 and the 1.5 version that we have.
