I just found out my problem with my banking app. My phone isn't crypted. So this makes my Redmi Note 7 more superior than Redmi Note 8T?
Is there no possible ways? Only stock ROM and encryption enabled?
Edit: Okay I just some how managed to encrypt my phone... Never mind guys false alert, gotta find out if the bank software works now. Thanks to all the guides tho. Had to install stock MIUI ROM, brick my phone and install vbmeta.img to finally at Resurrection Rom
edit2: Yeah still no luck with banking software, it means Redmi Note 7 > 8T

Hi
You have the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 5 the India version has a 20 no front camera.
Sent from my Nokia 7 plus using Tapatalk
Pro extension name is only really used in India, where they have the Redmi 5 Plus(Vince) relabeled as RN5.
Depending on what they seller provided, you might have China or Global Version.

Thanks, last thing if i red correctly, i shall not worry anymore about :
- unlock bootloader global as it seems to work again no more error 81.....
- compatiblity with customs Roms
Correct ?
Also is/will global version be able to flash miui10 ?
I would like to taste, but surely prefer custom rom

Yes, you can flash miui10 !
-Make sure you have bootloader unlocked and TWRP. First make a full backup with TWRP.
-Also logout of your miui account.
-- files you need. Obviously you need the miui rom, lazyflasher-no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip and the google 3 installer (also magisk as you want to root)
Check on youtube on what to wipe and install procedure. If you have titanium you can backup your programs and settings too. I also use sms & calllog backup .
I would stay away from the custom roms for now as they are not as good at the moment (but will improve)
Can anyone do some developing for Redmi note 8 pro. Because so much peoples are waiting for the roms for this phone?
My understanding at the moment, is that custom ROM development is being prevented on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, because it can get hard-bricked (become completely unusable) MUCH too easily, and the only way to unbrick it, is to use an authorised Xiaomi service account (which very few people have).
This means that, whenever a developer tries to test something they're working on (a custom ROM or custom recovery), if their phone gets hard-bricked while testing, their development completely stops until/if they can get their phone unbricked.
If Xiaomi were to allow all users to unbrick their Redmi Note 8 Pro easily (without needing these authorised Xiaomi service accounts), then I think that custom ROMS would start to come out (I believe the full source code has already been released, which is a prerequisite for custom ROM development).
Other members, please feel free to share your views, and correct me if I'm wrong on the above; what are the chances that Redmi Note 8 Pro owners will be able to easily/quickly unbrick their hard-bricked devices in the future?

I'm waiting and can't wait for some sort of ASOP rom to drop. Love the phone had it 3 weeks now and am rooted on MIUI 11. However I would really like to swap the rom as soon as possible

true, also mediatek is also to blame, they really aren't that "open-source" compared to other chipset manufacturers. thus preventing custom roms and app ports like a stable gcam port.

Is substratum theme working on rooted device ?
Hi guys
I would like to ask if possible help me with unlocking, rooting and helping me decide which custom rom to install on my Redmi note 5 pro.
I been off for sometime from xda, so bear with me.
Many thanks
Pixel experience plus (Android Pie) is the most stable and fast custom ROM I have tested
Unlock bootloader by the official Xiaomi application (backup your personal files because this operation will erase all phone data)
Install ADB drivers for Xiaomi device
Flash OrangeFox recovery 10 for Whyred
Wipe cache, system and vendor partitions
Install downloaded ROM (fromixelexperience.com)
Use "How to..." On YouTube to search detailed videos about flashing pixel experience (or any other custom ROM) on Redmi Note 5 Pro

Advising on a ROM is going to be hard as there are soooo many. A lot seem similar when reading them but may have a unique feature or bug. If you are able to change ROMs often then just try them out and swap between them. For me I use my phone for work. I rely on email and some apps. I also need GPS /maps and banking apps to work so I have a ROM that suits. It's an older ROM using 8.1 and I would like to upgrade but can't risk bugs.
To unlock the bootloader you need the official Xiaomi unlocked and sign up your account. Takes a few days or used to anyway.
Once unlocked just install your ROMs the usual way
Hello everyone.
I own a Redmi Note 8T device with EU version installed, unlocked bootloader, still on stock rom.
On MIUI 12 there is a problem with Cast function.... it does not work on my Mi Box S device!!!
Stuck on searching and that's it... there is no other way to make this function work from internal menu, naturally.
Worked well on MIUI 11 before 12 update.
Now, the CAST FUNCTION IS DEAD!!!
Thank you Xiaomi!!!

No need for TWRP to root.
To adapt to your device.

Thanks, but my question was the inverse: I want to root, typically I did using TWRP and flashing magisk zip. I was guessing if Magisk supports Poco F5 already.

This method is not recommended due to A/B partitions and current TWRP development for A12/13.
And root for what?

I use root for two main purposes: ad blocker in hosts (as I also use VPN service, so I don't want to keep VPN busy with ad blocker) and removal of bloatware with magisk debloater.

Xiaomi.eu ROM for 12 Turbo / Poco F5 with root is great, because one can install among others ad-block apps such as AdAway and block all ads in apps (Youtube excluded). I rooted xiaomi.eu (via magisk and "boot.img") couple of days ago and it's working great. You're right, when you wouldn't recommend rooting via TWRP and flashing magisk.zip for the reasons you mentioned in post #4 above.
Have any of you tried installing viper4android magisk?
A lot of devices are being unable to install the old viper 4 android. I know there's a 64bit version now that usually works on devices that can't install the other one. It doesn't have all of the features it's missing headphones surround sound and gain increase. Which are the two best features of the whole vipers situation. So I want to purchase a Poco F5 or F5 pro. So I am wondering if viper is working?
You'll probably have to install magisk delta canary latest build because the new magisk v26.1 won't work with viper now either. It will work if you Install viper with magisk delta and then switch to magisk official v26.1.
Normally what you do is you install the busy box module, The James DSP 4.6 module, Selinux permissive module, audio modifications library 4.2 module and the viper for Android module finally. You don't have to use the James DSP but sometimes it corrects problems in the system to get viper to work. I'm not sure how much you guys are aware so I am trying to cover everything.
Pixel 6, 7 pro it won't work on. My tab S8 plus, S22 and S23 ultra it won't work on. Pixel 7 pro with AOSP roms make it work when those are available.
