[Q] Revert to stock recovery in order to flash KK

Hi everyone,
I am currently using PAC-MAN for 4.2 by sudu_petru and would very much like to try KK.
Unfortunately, I think that the only I can update my firmware is via the dload method, wich I
can't use because I'm currently using TWRP recovery 2.6. I am tempted to flash the B118 recovery
but I'm afraid it might brick my device. Is flashing the recovery ONLY as risky as flashing the whole
firmware? Or is it possible to flash the device using the dload method through TWRP?
Regards,
Chovine.

Thank you for your answer, but I'll reformulate my question more simply. I was originally on
B120CN, I installed PAC-MAN and TWRP. I would like to revert to stock recovery so
is it SAFE to flash B118 recovery.img or could it brick my phone?
Thank you for your time .
I flashed CN118 recovery without any problem (except that the phone was vibrating while it was on recovery). If you want you can also flash KK recovery which I prefer and worked better.
It's safe to flash the stock recovery, you will not brick the device with it.

help with flashing twrp and a stable rom?

Hi awesome peoples! anyone happen to know a healthy rom without any aggravating bugs and a link with the best way to install a recovery? My phone is a sprint SPH-L520 its on 4.2.2 right now not rooted yet. It's asking me to update though on firmware na7.
Um once I root with odin can I use flashify to flash the recovery from the 12.1 thread? I don't know how to convert a .img to a tar to get it working in odin. I don't want to experiment with my phone please someone stop me if this will mess it up.

How to root Nougat

I've managed to install TWRP on my phone.
I'm currently on nougat with s-on.
I want to root so I can flash custom rom but can't find instructions on how to do that. Could someone provide simple instructions on how to do that please. Also do I need s-off to flash custom Rom, if so how do I do that?
Thanks for reading

There is a N00b Help thread that is stickied for exactly questions like these.
You don't need root to install a custom rom. Most custom roms already come rooted. Instructions for flashing them are in each custom rom thread. Basically you do a backup of your stock rom in twrp (select system image and boot), and then flash your custom rom zip file in twrp.

steps to flash custom ROM

first time trying to root phone. still have some questions.
i have the sgh-i317.
i want to go from kit kat to marsmallow.
are these the right steps?
1. root phone - does phone have to be unlocked first or does CF autoroot take care of that?
- cf autoroot looks like it provides a stock recovery. from what i read i think i need something like the ClockworkMod recovery to flash a custom rom. is that right?
2. flash rom
does it matter which ROM?
i see 2 that are popular - cyanide and resurrection remix
thanks
No need to root the phone before installing a custom recovery.
I recommend TWRP over cwm as cwm is very outdated.
seems the more reading i do the more confused i get. just trying not to brick my phone.
1. i've read that the bootloader needs to be unlocked in order to install custom roms. is that true? i cant seem to figure out if mine is locked or not
2. next i need to install a custom recovery like TWRP?
3. then the custom rom? like resurrection rom
do i need to be rooted for any of these steps to work?

Rooting and flashing ROM

Hi. I wanted to root out Tab S 10.5 (T800), may I know what are the steps. Been browsing onto various threads but to no avail. Im on Lollipop version btw. So first, I have to flash twrp via odin, right? Then after that? Do I have to flash MM bootloader or I just stick with pre installed bootloader before I can install a rom... Im looking at Lineage ROM. Will I get bootloop if I flash lineage on top of my lollipon bootloader? Thanks
