Hi everyone,
I am currently using PAC-MAN for 4.2 by sudu_petru and would very much like to try KK.
Unfortunately, I think that the only I can update my firmware is via the dload method, wich I
can't use because I'm currently using TWRP recovery 2.6. I am tempted to flash the B118 recovery
but I'm afraid it might brick my device. Is flashing the recovery ONLY as risky as flashing the whole
firmware? Or is it possible to flash the device using the dload method through TWRP?
Regards,
Chovine.

Thank you for your answer, but I'll reformulate my question more simply. I was originally on
B120CN, I installed PAC-MAN and TWRP. I would like to revert to stock recovery so
is it SAFE to flash B118 recovery.img or could it brick my phone?
Thank you for your time .
I flashed CN118 recovery without any problem (except that the phone was vibrating while it was on recovery). If you want you can also flash KK recovery which I prefer and worked better.
It's safe to flash the stock recovery, you will not brick the device with it.

so i have stock rom but i have the cwm recovery install i know that i can install back to stock recovery via bootloader but some have complained that after flashing have faced the 'red triangle of doom' and are now unable to either flash the update or in some cases not boot the rom so what is the safest way to do this and what is the best recovery. img file?
What I did was restore a backup of a stock ROM, flash stock recovery and OTA popped up Had no red triangle of doom. Even if you do get that, you can still boot into the bootloader and fix things.
can u post the file wich u used for the recovery?

You can find links to stock recoveries HERE. Choose the one that matches the base rom you are using, ie 1.29, 2.17 etc.

If you want to flash the full firmware, then download it from sammobile.com and flash it using Odin.
Then you can install custom recovery with Odin.
Be aware that if you flash the full firmware package, it has a new bootloader that doesn't play nice with custom recoveries. If you use any software method to boot into your custom recovery, you will get stuck in recovery and must flash stock recovery to be able to boot the OS. You can use a custom recovery only if you POWER OFF; then use the 3-button method to boot into your custom recovery.
Hi I need help. I recently got this phone.
Rooted it with stump root, and flashed TWRP 2.8.4 using flashify.
I tried to flash a custom rom, but the wiping data part had an error. Stupidly enough, I proceeded to flash the rom zip and it got stuck flashing so I had to power it off. Now my phone is stuck on the boot logo. The only thing I can do with it is turn it off, or enter download mode. But I can't enter recovery mode. I read somewhere that it is possible to go back to stock recovery using the flashtool. Problem is I don't know which firmware I have. The only information I had about the firmware was that it was ls980vze because that's what I saw when I was flashing something. How do I deal with this? :crying:
p/s if there's a way that I can access twrp, maybe that' would work because I made a nandroid backup before. Don't know if that's useful though.

Okay, quick and easy.
There is a zve tot, though before we do much. Custom ROM as in which one?
Anything CM based is radio zv8, if it is a cloudyfa ROM; you can be zva to zve radio.
So depending on which can save trouble.
Root, depends on which version you are. Zv8 - go with ioroot25. Zve - use stump root.
Next thing, forget flashify. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Tried and true method, Auto-rec. Only after root.
Upgrade TWRP through TWRP by gator's zip of bumped and such. Or use TWRP app.
Again if your zv8, flash your CM based ROM of choice.
Zva-zve, flash your stock based like cloudyfa's Roms and such.

I tried to flash Validus ROM so i'm guessing that's zv8? I am rooted btw. Wait so you can upgrade twrp by flashing another twrp file? When I used flashify, after flashing the 2.8.4 bumped twrp it rebooted to my current twrp 2.7.0 and flashed it so I thought it was just the same. I'm pretty sure I am zve. Can I flash a zv8 rom if I have a zve rom? How do I get out from the bootloop?

Basically you're stuck using the ZVE tot to bring it back to factory. Be sure to boot it at least once as the phone will have to re-activate itself.
Try the zv8 modem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
And if not, then try you and always check the op carefully before flashing.
So I rooted my G3 and I flashed twrp with flashify so I could flash xposed ( did not flash a custom ROM, just xposed) I got an OTA update so I tried flashing my stock recovery using flashify but i just got an error and had to pull the battery to reboot. I know some of you will think its pointless to root and flash a custom recovery just to revert back to stock but can anybody help me get back my stock recovery so I can get the OTA update.
You need the flash whole stock ROM via FlashTool first.

Any guide?
does TWRP able to flash a stock rom?
if it possible, will it cause any problem?
my device is rooted and using stock rom (planning to flash CM)
a) if you have twrp installed, then just backup before flashing any other roms, then factory reset and restore to go back to factory if needed.
b) you can flash OTA with twrp, and I ma pretty sure full stock roms too. See this guide. There is a thread on xda too, but I don't have it bookmarked.
I hope that answers your question.
P.S.
Remember that you have to unlock bootloader for TWRP, and if you want to use OTA function on stock rom with TWRP you need to fully unroot first.
@DiGecko
Thank you very much
