I'm trying (and failing) to transfer mp3 files from my PC to my new Galaxy Watch 3. I know I can use the Wearable app, but I don't want to duplicate the files on my phone and then upload them to my watch. Also not wanting to do it through bluetooth, which will take forever.
I want, but can't find the simple "Music Manager" wifi function as seen in the vid below and the Samsung support articles:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3v54WyNbQg
https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00078019/
https://www.samsung.com/hk_en/suppo...er-music-files-from-iphone-to-gear-s2-s3-fit/
I've tried the Teleporter app, and it's never worked for me. I even tried out this crazy solution using the Tizen Studio:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gearfit/comments/5pww1w/music_transfer_with_no_samsung_device/
from which I managed to upload an mp3 file into my watch after launching the device manager, but my watch's music program couldn't recognize the basic mp3 file (though I saw it in there using a file explorer).
How can they make it this impossible? Why can't we just upload files straight from our PC?
What am I missing?

I think this can't be done, but I have to ask...
What I would like to know is if I could watch a movie in the phone, but instead of it being in the phone, being in a server but attached to the same network.
So, for example, being connected to my WIFI, being able to access my NAS and play a video and watch it on the phone without having to download it before to the SD...
I tried with the Estrongs file explorer. Great app, but it first need it to be on the phone to play it...
Ok, seems that CIFS Manager is what I need
Yes, CIFS manager is what you need, but the next problem I found was finding a Media Player App that would browse to any directory other than /SDCARD. Can you mount network shares within a mount point? Sounds messy. :/
Hi,
One of the features i was looking forward to on the Defy was the built in DLNA functionality.
I am using a PC running XBMC that has my audio collection ripped mainly in FLAC with a little MP3 & OGG. Ideally i would like a way to transcode the FLAC to OGG when tranfering to the phone over DLNA but i will need to work on a solution for that (maybe Coherence? Hadn't heard of it but a little googling has sent me in that direction but will take a bit more homework). In the mean time i am happy to have FLAC on my phone despite the file size as i am expecting a 16GB card but given the weather i think it may take at least a few more days to arrive.
The problem is that when i transfer a FLAC file over DLNA it states that the file is not compatible* and asks me to confirm that i am happy transfer it it, i say yes it downloads the file. That's fine but it asks again with every single file so if you choose to download an album it asks every track so you can't even leave to run whilst you go do something else as it stops transferring at each prompt.
Any idea how to overcome this?
*i have PowerAmp installed which is compatible with FLAC.
i have solved my problem a different way. I just don't use DLNA.
Using Banshee music player i can connect the Defy via USB cable and transfer any audio file to it and Banshee trancodes on-the-fly into .ogg.
Solved.

Yeah... I agree. But I am connecting to a couple of computers and a Buffalo Link Station over wireless. I can USB through my computer, but would love to find a way around confirming every download I want. I'll ask this question on the T-Mo and Motorola forums which are monitored by Motorola dudes. Really, the DLNA function is so damned convenient.
So, I have a bunch of MP3s in a folder called media my music player refuses to read. I also have a bunch of music copied over in a music folder, which play fine. Both appear to be on my internal storage. So, I tried to move the music from the media folder to the music folder, and they wont move. I renamed the folder using root explorer, and the name doesn't change on internal storage when I mount. I can find the renamed folder through ES file explorer. I don't get it. This MTP sucks, this shouldn't be an issue, I should just be able to copy over files, they should be there, and be playable. Starting to not like this phone so much.
Mtp is a bit of a pain in the arse sometimes. Try putting it into ptp instead, should show all folders then.
Or stop hassling with cables altogether and install something like WiFi File Explorer Pro from the market.

Believe it or not, not everyone has a router at home. Also, nothing beats drag and drop, much simpler and faster.
O.P try uninstalling the drivers and install the Samsung drivers before connecting the phone again. Or try PTP instead like 318vert said.
I had this problem with wallpapers in gallery.
I think I made the folder from the computer while it was connected. Then copied over. I did it a few times. Also try making the folder on your phone and try.
With music, I just put them in the already created music folder.

Of course. But since the OP has problems with MTP, this is another way to get around it (disclaimer: only for those with a wifi router).
Plus you get around plugging cables, which I don't like.
OP: If you are running Win XP, make sure you have Windows MediaPlayer 11 installed. It's apparently tied to the MTP drivers somehow.
Might seem weird but I have no issues with it at all, but I have wondered what the "media" folder is, I don't put my media in there.
Example (Movies>(All movies here)TV> (All TV here) )
And for Music I just made a music folder and threw it all in there.
I think the media folder is for something else. Just try making a movies and music folder.
Most of my music is on my Mac but I noticed that you can't transfer music from a Mac to a Note since the drive won't come up. Is there a way to do it?
Hello,
You will need to use Android File Transfer utility.
Hope this helps
i transfer music all the time from my mac to the note. use android file transfer and just drag it over from iTunes or the folder.
Not a Mac but this should work with any OS - set up file sharing on your computer (Windows/Mac/Linux) to share the folder containing your music and then on your phone use ES File Explorer or another app that supports LAN servers to log on, then you don't even need to be at your computer to copy stuff to your phone as long as your computer is on and you're connected to the same network as the computer.
Kies does this for you. But I hate kies and don't use it personally. Double twist (music player) from market acts just like Itunes. You can try that it if you miss the iPhone type transfers.
Edit: but everyone else here mentioned correct answers. If you can't use android file transfer, probably because an old version of kies is blocking it. You have to download latest version and click uninstall, you can't just delete the app.

Yes, Kies (download the latest version) and it works flawlessly. Drag and drop.
* I don't get how some people are so bashful about Kies. The truth is it's simple, clean, straight forward and it WORKS.

Samsung Kies works fine. I like AirDroid better for all file transfers - music, pictures, documents etc.
Hey guys, I finally switched my phone from an iPhone to an M8 because through my work I got one out of contract for $250 so I really couldn't pass the offer...
Anyways, I'm having trouble transferring my music from my iTunes (mac) to my new phone. Google music blows, it doesnt even get all the songs and playlist after trying 2950 times. So what else can I use that WILL get every single song and playlist CORRECTLY to my M8?
Thanks!
Also thinking about rooting it soon. Anyone have a link to how to do it on a Mac? I used to know how to root pretty well a couple years ago when I had my tablet but havent touched it in many years.
I had this issue too
I had the same problem - havent done it with masses of music yet, but in iTunes if you right click the song you want to copy, you can select to convert the song to an aac file - once youve done that open the memory card or internal storage and copy files to your music folder - simples

Thats the issue though. I cant connect it to my mac for some reason. Android Transfer wont find it and neither will like DoubleTwist
Mac does not play nice with MTP, which is the protocol used to transfer files back and forth between PC/Mac and Android.
If you are bone stock, just use HTC Sync and point it to your iTunes media folder in Finder.
If you are rooted and/or prefer ADB, download DriveDroid from the Play Store. Once downloaded, give it Super User permissions, then go to Settings > USB Settings > Manually Change Permanent USB Mode, then select Media Transfer Protocol. After that, go to your phone's Settings > Developer and enable USB Debugging.
Now, download Android File Transfer on your Mac. Plug your phone to your Mac and it'll load up and let you add/delete files at a whim.
With all that said... If you don't use ADB, HTC Sync will be the easiest and allow you to copy playlists from iTunes. With Android File Transfer, you can copy all the music, videos, whatever, but the actual playlists don't transfer over. If there is a way, I'd love to know.
