I'm planning to buy s20 Exynos version mobile. I am aware that it had heating issue and battery drain issue when it was launched but I found online reveiws that it was fixed by recent firmware update.
Can you guys please tell me whether it was fixed? How is the battery backup now? Does heating problem solved?
Your answers will help me to take a good decision.
Thanks

As 2 month s20 Exynos user i can say - it depends. Antennas are either poor or the networking optimization is **** - i have weaker phone signal with the S20 than with my old mate 20 pro. Yes if you live and work in a area with good 4g/wifi you will not have this problem( at home i get about 20-24h usage per charge and 5-6h sot), if not you might experience severe battery drain ( at work where my network coverage is **** i have 5-8% stand-by drain, which i did not have with my mate 20 pro). Now it is really hot in Belgium so the phone is hot, but if the weather is normal it will only get hot when you use it a lot( i made it hit 40 degrees when i was taking pictures for about 2h straight), other than this no excessive overheating. It is a good phone, i really like it, but the battery drain and the need to charge 20-40% at work so i will last the day is not okay. I can only hope updates will improve this but if not i'd recommend basically any other non samaung phone if you live/work in poor coverage areas( at work a college with an iphone has 0 problems and have finished the day with 80% battery left, he is on the same network).

Any other feedbacks please? I'm expecting more users feedback
After reading so many reviews on the internet and having experienced Exynos on my former S8, I went with the Snapdragon9810 variant from Hongkong at the risk of warranty issues etc.
But I must tell you, so far this phone has been giving me consistent battery life, performance. No signal issues, VOLTE ,VOWIFI works seamlessly. Haven't had the chance to try the 5G since 5G is not availability is very limited in my country.
No heating issues at all. Used for extended periods on the first few days out of excitement, yet felt nothing compared to former Exynos.
Only disappointment for me so far had been native call recording is disabled and eSIM support is also disabled. Both of which could have been regulars for me if they were available.
So I'd like to suggest you, reevaluate your options and never settle with a half baked exynos.
Good luck!!
In india they sell Exynos version only. I could not buy Snapdragon version. That's the problem here. I still prefer buying Exynos but I would like to know the battery performance
After a week using S20 plus 5G (coming from S8plus) I must say the heating problem exists. My s8+ never heated that much! And not that I'm doing god knows what with the phone, just standard suage - Faceboo, messenger, news app, mail....

What firmware are you on? I am here on atg9 and doesnt seem to have any of your problems?
July 1st update, ATG4 I suppose.

Using Exynos version of S20+ for about 3 months. Yes the phone occasionally get hot once or twice a week.. Battery backup is decent getting 5-7 hours of SOT. I don't play heavy games like PUBG, just play some lite games. but phone become warm while using camera app for extensive time. If you play heavy games go for oneplus but camera & display is better in s20 than op8pro. Lastly if you are not a gamer you will definitely enjoy s20 exynos.
General use I find it is ok but using Android Auto it gets ridiculously hot, yesterday it was 50c according to CPU Monitor app

i was planning to buy the G4, so i looked at some reviews. GSMArena said that the battery life on the G4 is a downgrade from the G3.
The Endurance rating worked out to 54 hours, 9 hours less than the G3. The issue was with the high standby power draw, which puts a strain on the battery even when you're not using the phone. The other disappointment was the talk time, which couldn't reach 17 hours - an 8 hour drop from the G3.
We reran the tests several times and kept getting the same results.
Anyway, the web browsing time was pretty good - nothing spectacular, but good. It also marks the only improvement since the G3 as the video playback is below average for the flagship class.

ok. where does it make a direct comparison to the G3. the video is kind of hard to follow. Unless he has both phones in the same video and do a same battery test, you can't really compare the g4 to g3 with this video. the OP just has to decide which source he deems more reliable.

yes because this is a difficult subject so keep a note when he talks of the sot's under different conditions.
Had to watch it a couple of times but i got it in the end. See the comments too.
What is your expectation of sot/runtime ? How much do you get with your curent device ? what is your current device.
There is no difference between G3 and G4 for battery life max i can get 4 and half hours for battery life and minimum only almost 3 hours SOT. Maybe if next LG device is like this battery life i need to change to another brand
Yeah my experience in two days....Touchscreen issues untill i updated to V10C which fixes the touchscreen issue but decreases battery life to the extent where u can literally notice it drop before your eyes. The power saving used to work fine before v10c now even tho i turn it on immediately it wont kick in untill battery reaches 15% ( u will know when its on because the statusbar will change its color to red)...... And yes the back buttons are loose and feel wobbly. There is a pink shade in my front camera when there is sunlight in the background....ummm what else......i am damn sure even the cheap chinese phones coming out will be better than this piece of junk. I shud never have bought it

How much sot & runtime did you get before the update ?

Dont expect anything crash hot from the battery performance. It is nothing like what i expected. If you want good battery life go with samsung s6 or even better the sony xperia phones. Xperia has best battery life. So G4 wont do you any good with battery life

3h sot, lots of complaining, 4h+Sot less complaining or it goes silent. Seen this a few times now. That is what surprised me. Until you realise that people find 8h run time too short but once it gets into 12-14h+ its ok. Its the standby time that is more important.

I currently have the nexus 4 and i think the most screen on-time i can get before my phone dies is 3 hours, but usually it's in the low to mid 2 hour range before i have to run to the charger. But the phone never last more than like 12 hour of usage (or a 8 hour workshift+ work traffic) as i constantly surf the web, music, and always checking my phone.
I want something like xperia z3 compact or note 4 battery life, but those phones have some things i don't really like. With the G4, i do plan on buying those high capacity battery (like mugen, hyperion, etc..) if the phone does fall below my expectation.

Mostly wifi ? or is there also same amount of data ? how strong or not that cell data signal is and for how long you are on it will take a toll with any phone.

How bright do you like your screen. if you can manage with less brightness ie 30-50% you can add an hour of sot.
for reference, 3-4h SOT on data and 4-5h sot on wifi only with 65-70 brightness. mixed use means somewhere in between, 4h sot. high brightness means low to mid 3h, less brightness 4-5h.
sot/run times you can expect 3h /9h, 4h/12h, 5h/14+h is normal with stock.
Are these figures you can live with ? xperias & note 4 will give you an extra hour sot on top. that extra hour means 2-4h longer run time.
you dont need to carry those bulky batteries unless your phone absolutely needs to be on, just swap the battery out in a couple of minutes.. Not hot swap, have to power down.
How important is bootloader unlock and roms for you ? some people are forced to stick with original and forego firmware updates to preserve bootloader unlock. this means if any improvements are made in subsequent updates they can't use them and are stuck with whatever bugs are there in the older firmware. Stuck with bugs and waiting for roms can be frustrating.
For some one used to nexus 4 being able to flash anything and everything, G4 might seem a bit boring for you, Nexus 5x ? you dont care for replaceable battery or sd card. just get the biggest onboard memory possible

Yep all wifi, don't have a data plan . wifi signal varies to maximum signal to no signal at all lol. But i do turn on airplane mode when i'm on the train for example. My brightness is set to adaptive brightnes on @ 50%ish
I'm actually avoiding the nexus line in the future lol since i really want sd card slot and removable battery (and good/excellent battery life), usb OTG (particularly usb audio out), and a device that can officially unlock bootloader like the g4 H815. and to be honest, stock android ui is sometimes boring and it never has features u see on like xperia, htc, or samsung devices. And I can just do all my flashing needs on my Nexus 4 when the habit kicks in lol. Overall, on my next phone, i just want options and upgrade/replacement possibility

Then you can expect a 4-5h sot/12-14h run time with normal use. Good enough ?
web browsing won't eat up much battery, its push notifications and constant syncs over weak signal that do it faster.
IMO the g3 was garbage...i had 2 that had emmc failures and all 3 i had overheating issues...battery sucked...only pro was there was a good bit of development...i love my g4...only device i miss over my g4 is my g2...battery life is great with minimal tweaks and greenify...my last run was 5 h 2m sot and 47.5 standby...h81110n
hello everyone
I'll be buying a dual-sim G4 either today or tomorrow. The issue is that I'll only be given 7 days checking and replacement warranty which is worrisome since the product price is quite high. So, I'll need all your inputs on how can I best check the product for any issues so I may return/exchange it within the short warranty period. Also, since I'll be leaving for a job outside my country within 2-3 weeks, I need to make sure everything is in working order as I'll be at a place where there would be no repair shops etc.
please, can someone kindly help me with this...
You cannot check for issues while installing any app i believe. Yes, you can install heavy games and play them, use The phone as much as you can to check about it.
Do remember to check volume buttons properly, camera and OIS working fine or not, any kind of lag report it here. If its common, you are good to go
Check the multitouch test using antutu benchmark.

Go to 277634#*# dialer mode and go to lcd test under svc menu.
Then go to device test> MT> then it will boot into mini os where you will get plenty of tests available to test g4.
-got the cellfone yesterday, two issues till now. battery seems to be draining very fast + the screen gets hot.
-antutu score is 62164
-have already taken pictures and videos from it - camera result seems ok, any idea how can I check it extensively? not too sure how to use the manual function :S
Can you please elaborate? Were you on 4G or 3G? How many hours phone was used. What all things you did (heavy games or light games? too much calls? GPS settings? Wifi and 3G/4G usage). Apart from it, how was the cell reception? Low cell network reception leads to heavy battery drain. Also, I have noticed heavy battery drain on dual SIM.

I got my 10 plus (5g) although 3 uk is still to deliver it in order to see the speeds.
I am completely in love with the phone, for sure.
However, my problem is the battery.
Previous device was Mate 20 pro, with a battery that literally could last the full day , this one not really.
while on Mate 20 pro I would go home after 14h , with still 20% , now If I am lucky, It will have 3%
Different screen yeah, but it still feels bad.
Quality is (default) so not even enjoying the full resolution out of it.
Could you help me or tell me your experience as well?
I remember the times with my S8 that while on Roaming, I had to charge it 2 or even 3 times during the day
Thanks!

Disably all power management including Samsung's and especially any carrier apps.
-Untoggle any power saving settings first.-
Disable all cloud apps. Knox junk.
Disable carrier, Samsung and Google feedback trash.
All Bixby except Bixby vision and Bixby vision framework which the cam needs.
Otherwise you need to sort through, learn which ones you want/use, and how they interact. Some bloatware you probably use and want to keep.
Some like Playstore I keep disabled unless I need it.
Each set up is different... play with it.
Do you have Bixby wake up word on?
It used 37 % of battery yesterday. Took me a week to figure this out as the battery was not doing well for me either.

Don't compare it to the Mate 20 Pro. That phone is just in a league of its own. The P30 Pro battery is even better so don't expect anything close to that as these phones are known for insane battery life.
Are you using snapdragon or Exynos?
If you are using Exynos then you won't get what the Snapdragon variant offers. Snapdragon has better battery life and this is the problem with Samsung. They should make all their phones using snapdragon chips
Hello,
Was wondering if someone has had the same experience with their note 10+.
I got my device on the 22nd of Aug and since day 1 the battery has always been showing 99% almost immediately after disconnecting from the charger.
But after that, it discharges normally. Have had no issues with SOT as well.
This wasnt the case with my note 8 and note 9. They used to stay on 100% for a while after disconnecting from the charger.
But was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with their Note 10+.
Thank you.

It's funny because when I wrote my initial reply it did seem impressive. But as the days go by, its perhaps a bit less impressive! Seems to be draining a bit quicker. Probably got more like 5hrs sot today, although that's not bad I think I just expected more.
I do recall with my s10 plus it was similar then after a week or 2 battery optimizations kicked in and it seemed really good.
I can't think of any specific settings. Main things I've done are put social media apps to not background sync, dark mode all the time and adaptive power saving.
Yeah battery life is not this phone’s strong suit. I barely make it through the day with every battery saving possibilities activated.
I did get a used 3 month old for an incredible price so can't complain more. Cheers!
Hey there
Purchased a new S20 Exynos 3 weeks ago. Since then battery life has been awful... even below what users report on the forum (4-6 hours SOT ranges).
I barely get 3.5 hours at best with minimal usage in a day: whatsapp, calls, emails, social media - NO gaming, gps, video calls...
This has been the same under OneUI 2.5 or now 3.0 for the past week
I have tried everything:
debloated a lot of stuff
wiped the phone with factory reset, did not restore with smart switch
60hz only, dark mode
location off, all device or wifi scanning features off
lots of apps in sleep and deep sleep lists
took the phone to samsung service to verify battery was functioning normally
I'm sharing screenshots of GSAM and BBS - please help me understand what is going on, i'm not able to make sense of the stats
I really want to love this new phone.... but 3hrs a day for a work phone + samsung service being a complete waste of time is not helping me...
Many, many thanks for your help
Why is it showing LTE2?
Maybe put your sim in slot 1?
Are you in a poor reception area? Your phone signals are good but still can't be trusted.
I have 2 sim cards in the phone. The one I'm using now is in slot 2
I even switched off sim 1 in sim cards manager because it was draining battery. I need to switch it back on anytime I want to receive SMS or call
Yet another feature that made me buy the phone and I end up deactivating....
Any other idea where I should deep dive? Do you see any app draining the battery or weird wakelock?
I need to get at least 6hrs SOT on basic usage

That's poor SOT even for a Exynos device. Based on the info you've shared it would seem your phone is defective. If it was purchased locally you should ask the seller to exchange it. If a full factory reset doesn't help I don't know of any other settings or modifications you haven't already tried.
At this point I can only suggest you to try using only single sim via slot 1 and observe the difference.
Also can you post gsam signal graph like mine.View attachment 5155689
My device is S20+ on 3.0
60HZ, WQHD enabled and I'm getting 10H SOT.
Thanks guys for your help. Really appreciate it
Samsung doesn't want to replace the device. They have tested it for 24 hours in idle and told me the standby battery drain is normal.
This is insane. I've never seen so poor customer service, I miss apple so bad...
I've switched my sim to slot 1, that's a bummer since I'll need to play around with sims every time I travel...
My reception should be good as well.
Guys do you have by any chance a contact at Samsung top management to share in DM?
I'm dealing with India customer service this is appaling.... [email protected] supposed to be case manager what a joke
I've been fighting with them for 3 weeks it is driving me insane.
I'm talking to a lawyer today to open a law suit, probably a class action law suit, against Samsung advertising high performance but selling poor quality handsets equiped with Exynos chipset

No doubt you're level of frustration is rightfully extreme but I'm pretty sure pursuing a class action lawsuit to remedy the issue isn't your best option. I'm not an attorney but have years of experience as a lawfirm administrator. Not too many attorneys are capable enough or willing to invest the required time, resources and money to initiate that action. Having your attorney contact Samsung in writing may be the best option if he/she will do so at a reasonable cost.
Yes that's actually the plan
Given Samsung's commitment to customer satisfaction I doubt anything will come out of it
Will take further actions when necessary
In the meantime if anybody still have ideas on how to investigate further / solve the issue with my phone (assuming it's not hardware issue and Samsung hiding it from me).... happy to look into it
Latest developments:
Samsung "top" customer support team has arrange a pick up to take the phone to service again tomorrow
If they tell me everything is fine again i'm gonna lose my **** - nothing is fine with a 3 hours battery life phone that cost me $700

How the havk you achieved that???
Are we talking exynos or snapdragon?
i've never seen anything like samsung customer support in my life
5 hours on the phone with them in 2 days, 2 back and forths to service center...
They are still telling me that 3 hours screen on time is perfectly normal on my handset and refuse any refund or replacement
"we have done 1 hour of youtube and the battery dropped by 35% because youtube is hardcore. See that's good"
wait... what?
plus i've never opened youtube on my phone what's this test about
Pure insanity
I'm going ahead with opening a class action law suit. DM if interested in joining
it will be shared on social media as well and widely online

No gaming, Just browsing and little bit of youtube.
Maybe bcoz of indoor usage. Brightness is 40-45%
Hey guys why instead of being proud of managing to tweak a $700 phone to make it usable
we just tackled the core issue and stopped buying crappy exynos samsung and make them understand they cannot fool customers
i start to understand why you keep buying if this is just a game to you

Well, Indians voted with wallet.
Due to poor sales in India, S20+ came down to 700$, bcoz of ezorbitant prices on top of selling Ecynos crap.
I have an Exynos S20 and have been having similar battery life issues since FW BTIB and BTJ3, I think I have finally tracked it down to some weird 5GHz Wi-Fi problem with FWs after the August update.
Someone mentioned putting the phone on Airplane overnight which I've never done, so I did after fully charging it and I was thrilled to see the battery dropped by only a few % in 10hrs which was great. In the morning I switched Airplane off back at my desk which is close to the WAP and the battery life seemed really good.
After a week or so of checking with Airplane On/Off and switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, I suspect that if the 5GHz signal isn't strong enough the phone is trying very hard to maintain the connection. Looking at your battery stats it shows Wi-Fi 86% battery so this could indicate a similar issue.
Switching to 2.4GHz seems to have greatly helped my battery life. Right now the battery has dropped 38% in 42h13m, with 42m of calls and 21m of SOT. Accubattery still thinks my full charge SOT is 2h30m but that's calculated on 10 sessions and I'm hoping that it might improve over the next few weeks. Still, it's far short of what Accubattery reported about a month after buying the phone (over 10hrs).
If I desperately need 5GHz speed I can just manually switch it, do the uploads, then switch it back to 2.4GHz.
I've sold the S20 and going back to iphone or pixel
worst phone i've ever had in hands
Legal action against Samsung is ongoing - their customer service has been appaling, including talking to their top management in India through my lawyer.
All in all a very bad phone, poor company, 0% customer centricity
