I've been a huge fan of the LineageOS roms in the past & have a couple of questions that maybe people can chime in on:
How come no ROMS, that I know of, are available for this phone?
What can I do to get my phone to something bare bones, like what LineageOS provides.
I've gone ahead and done the debloating without root, but the list that's available, only covers so many apps & my Sprint phone comes with so many junk apps.
Is there a difference deleting apps when rooted and when not?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

If the list is incomplete, just find the rest of the package names yourself and uninstall them.... Not too hard, I think. You have to bootloader unlock, and then you can install gsis like lineage or others. When rooted, you can do exactly what you can do without root, except you can easily do it without a computer (although you can use package disabler pro without root). You can also permanently uninstall system apps, so they stay uninstalled after a factory reset. Generally there's not really a point in that, and I barely ever do it.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think I'm going to pay for package disabler pro. I would really love lineage on here but I don't see a dedicated version for this device and don't really want to spend all the time & effort to unlock the bl.

At some point, I might try to build lineage or someone else might, but right now there's nothing that a device specific rom really gives over these gsis. Of course you would have to unlock bl to flash lineage as well.

Thanks, but too little too late for my dodo self. I went to the apps page for the LG version and I saw the option to purchase direct through them. But didn't pay attention that it was the Samsung version. No where on their site is there a link for the LG version & I want to avoid buying through the Play Store.

It's fairly easy to get an apk for it... Anyway those devs have taken it off the play store in the past, so people were forced to buy it again. I don't think you should be too morally concerned in this case.

Welcome to Android.
The G3 is a new device so custom ROMs don't really exist yet. But root does, with root you can save battery life with apps like Greenify, and many other stuff.
For root I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
You will need to wait for custom ROMs unfortunately, but it'll be worth the wait.
There's a lot that you can do with root access. Even though there aren't any custom ROMs just yet, titanium backup, root explorer, supersu, and the G3 tweak box will allow you to play with your phone to your heart's extent. You can also play around with this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839067 although changing system apps isn't recommended unless you know what you're doing
You need to download the xposed framework from this site http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer but you can get the tweak box as well as all the other apps I mentioned from the play store. You can read more about the tweak box here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53618482
You need root access to use any of those apps so that should be your first priority. Do some reading before going too crazy with modifications as they can have negative consequences if you don't know what you're doing and always make backups. Good luck!
Edit: Some words of caution, our phones are identical to the AT&T variant (I'm also on Rogers). As such, any apps that you replace should come from the D850 or D852 models, and anything that works on the AT&T model should technically work on ours. There's an AT&T specific forum that you may want to keep an eye on.
Im new to lg to if i may ask if i root the phone will i still get ota updates?
Root is like jailbreak for apple but in some case this is reversible but you have to know how and of course you loose warranty personnaly im not rooted right now and I dont really see the point of doing it since I came from a rooted samsung g2 the lg unrooted with just few trick can sleep much better than samsung phone you can use cpuspy to see is your phone using process during screen off..greenify is really nice to help and freeze uneeded app now even unrooted your phone should deep sleep at like 95 % wish is good !

No. You will probably have to unroot before installation or manually install the update through the desktop program and then re-root afterwards

Is there a way to use android pay with root access on my lolipop note 4? I can't find anything after July of this year saying that Google broke access again. Now that my bank supports it, I'd really like to be able to use it. Can anyone shed any light on how to do this? Is it even possible? Thanks.
Yep, but requires xposed (wanams build) and either his security exchange fix or another lollipop exchange security fix that will work on Samsung's (careful with xposed it's known to cause rediculous memory leaks on lollipop use only approved modules for both api and base)

Omfg sorry.... almost forgot u need to set up account immediately after u enable fix . So it reboots and applies upon load create or sign into account for first time
So when I was using galaxy S4 some time ago there was pure AOSP ROMs (not Cyanogenmod or LineageOS). Why there is no option to download it and install on OnePlus 3 to have pure nexus/pixel phone experience?
This is the closest you can and should get to AOSP

Try VertexOS m8.
There will never be pure AOSP on this device until Google writes the OS for us right now we can build an AOSP based rom but must use LOS/CAF trees for the hardware stuff

No it's not it even has the newest KRACK fixes from lineage (and if it shows an older Security patch level it's because the string wasn't updated)

I want to be able to theme my device as I want, but also want security. I assume that doesn't exist because the majority of the time you need an unlocked bootloader/root for that?

Well that is part of it. There is a rootless theme option I hear for 8.x but I theme my device the old way.
Now some will tell you that root allows you more control over things making them more secure. This is only partly true. Yes it gives you more control. But if root can be granted due to rooting a device then it can be done without the user knowing. Not to mention the trust you have to have in the dev that controls the root app.
Look up susbstratum.

Yeah you are gonna end up with caf (I prefer this as it is as close. To pure aosp as you can find) or Los based.
The majority of the reason is people being lazy. Instead of doing things themselves they use others bases. So you end up with what we have come to call kitchen sink roms.

One of the things I have noticed, is that I have never liked any LOS based ROMs idk why. They all seem buggy. The only ROM that I have really liked so far is Paranoid Android AOSPA 7.3.0.

That is because there are underlying bugs that have been there for years and never fixed. Now it would take a metric ton of work to fix it. This is why Los didn't fix the issues. They didn't want to start over. This is also the reason many real devs stopped using Los as a base.
I can't talk about PA really. I will not use their roms.

Hello guys , recently i purchased Nextbit Robin, after seeing its interface i was little bit surprised because it came with CyanogenMod (6.0) preinstalled not Stock marshmallow ... I'm facing wierd issues like data consumption issues .... Instant Messaging apps are using very high data & in data consumption tab Android OS is consuming very high
I don't want to use this rom because of above mentioned issues , and battery backup is not good ...
Plz can anyone help me in installing stock MM/N??
Hi there, well i'll assume that you bought a used Nextbit Robin, in that case you have two options.
1-. you can get it back to stock following this post on Razer official page:
https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/robin-factory-images-and-usb-driver.21487/
2-. you can install whatever other rom you want to try ie: paranoid, lineage, omni or carbonRom. just to mention some of them
in case you bought it like new you should speak with your seller
As @pay_omar said you likely bought used so I too would highly recommend you to install the stock firmware asap and stop using the old CM you never know what the earlier owner or the seller have done with that custom ROM.

also you'll need to install adb drivers so take this ones that works everywhere on windows

Hi,
I have bought a Chinese version of the Oneplus 7t, and it comes with Hydrogen. I had looked at different guide that suggested that it was possible to load the Oxygen onto the phone in Root, and install Oxygen, but it gives me the following error: "The version of your selected packet is lower than that of the current system. To avoid booting up failure, downgrading is not allowed"
I have disabled updating the phone when I got it, so it's running: Hydrogen 10.0.1.HD65
I downloaded the latest version of Oxygen from Oneplus: OnePlus7T Oxygen OS 10.0.3 HD65AA
These were the steps I tried to follow, but got stuck at step 3. Hope anyone there can help me
1) One needs to download the official firmware from OP website
2) Put the downloaded file to the phone's storage
3) In the settings choose System Update->Parameters->Local Update->Select the transferred file ->Install
4) Reboot the phone
5) Success?
You need to install the 10.0.4 one, 10.0.3 doesn't work. Take the same steps as you would above.

Hi. I'm also looking to do the exact same thing on a CN OP7T. Can you confirm it works without any issues? No needing to use adb, unlock bootloader etc? Its the first phone i hear of in which changing OS is too straightforward.
Booting into recovery after flashing works? Also, can you please check for me if it says Play Store Certified under Play Store Settings? I'm thinking maybe it won't carry over from CN ROM?

I just followed the steps, no need to use adb, or unlock bootloader. I just installed the file, and then restarted the phone like it asked me. Then i just did a factory reset, and my play store is certified. Just make sure to not update your phone with Hydrogen when you first start it up.
Getting mine in a few days. Will go with all the above steps and post here end result but I don't see there will be any issues.

I suppose both Hydrogen and Oxygen are on the same version 10.0.4? So downgrading wouldn't work, but what about switching from the same version to the other?
Just did this myself...took me 15 minutes when I had the file downloaded.

I don't think thats possible. You might need for next release to upgrade and switch.
I think you can enable it if you root the device. But don't take my word for it. Maybe someone else will answer this one.

If you don't mind me asking, what HydrogenOS version did your device come preinstalled with and where did you buy it from at that price? 128/8 version?
Thanks!
I think it was 10.0.1 Hydrogen
But yeah, just used the file posted on this page and worked as a charm.
I bought it in China from there official OnePlus website.. and 256/8 ????
got mine last Saturday fresh from OP factory and downloaded USA rom but got lower version error so i downloaded again from UK OP support webpage and that did it for me.
PS i looked around just now and noticed that the ROMs on OP support webpages vary from country to country. HKG still has 10.0.3 like the US while Thailand has 10.0.4 like the UK.
OP 2 -> OP 3T -> OP 7T (all H2OS -> O2S converted) :-}

You mean you were in person in China? Or just ordered online from oneplus CN store and shipped to your country? Because i may be wrong, but i don't think they allow you to purchase and ship to another country, considering they do have their store in my country as well. But i'm not sure. I only want the 256GB version and it's only available in China and India from what i see. So it's basically Aliexpress or other sites such as Gearbest, Wondamobile, etc..
But maybe i can order straight from them? What about warranty? Does it cover only China?
Edit: There is a discussion on another thread about a possible Green Tint Display Issue when Brightness is less than 10-15%, appearing on upper right part of the display, most visible on dark screens. Can you confirm if CN version has the same issue? Do you notice anything at all?
Thanks!

In my experience on owning few android products over the years(samsung only), this is the first ever device in which changing country dependant ROM is as straightforward as ever. I haven't found any other manufacturer that comes close to OP experience. Literally all other manufacturers i know of require you to unlock bootloader, use ADB, fastboot, input comands and so forth.
I have yet to look into custom ROMs for OP, but i'm sure it's still more straightforward than competition.

thanks for your comment. yes, that is the no.1 reason i switched to OP from other brands (i have used IOS, Meizu, HTC, Sony and also MS WinPhone in the past). the simplicity and ease of conversion was why i bought the OP2 at the local OP store when they had one before. my Chinese is just so-so and feel more comfortable with English/Google apps.
as for the GREEN TINT, i just adjusted my brightness down to the lowest level where i can still read things (i don't see any numerical %) but i don't experience any issue. i have my phone in Nuanced Dark Theme but also tried with the brighter Illuminating Light theme.

i like the simple Nokia's Z Launcher so i just keep on using it even though it's not updated any more.
PS. i guess i haven't reached the required 10 posts yet so my images don't show so i am just sharing the link for now.

got mine last Saturday fresh from OP factory and downloaded USA rom but got lower version error so i downloaded again from UK OP support webpage and that did it for me.
PS i looked around just now and noticed that the ROMs on OP support webpages vary from country to country. HKG still has 10.0.3 like the US while Thailand has 10.0.4 like the UK.
OP 2 -> OP 3T -> OP 7T (all H2OS -> O2S converted) :-}

Yup, I have noticed that as well. Some countries get updates sooner than later... I guess you can just always be on the lookout and download what you need and if you don't want to wait for your country to get an update

Yes, lucky for me I am currently in China and thats why the price is what it is and I got the 256 version.
If you are in Australia I can bring you one as I am going back there in 2-3 weeks.
So yes, the warranty is only for China. Which means if something gets broken you will need to send it to the country you bought it in for it to get fixed. As I have some family here in China by some random luck, I can ship this phone back to them and they can take care of it for me. I hope that will not happen though
But that is the same case for my Pixel 2 that I bought in the USA. I just had some issues with it and they are asking me to send it to the USA in order for it to get fixed. So now I have to send it to my cousin and then he will send it to Google... like there is no Google store in Australia
Happy to report that there is no green tint on my device
Also, it is very funny that 7T has a different price (significantly more expensive) in Hong Kong and the only "benifit" from buying it there is that it will run Oxygen straight from the box.

Just did this myself...took me 15 minutes when I had the file downloaded.
Super easy and super happy that I spent 425$ for this device

I don't think thats possible. You might need for next release to upgrade and switch.
I think you can enable it if you root the device. But don't take my word for it. Maybe someone else will answer this one.

You need to install the 10.0.4 one, 10.0.3 doesn't work. Take the same steps as you would above.

Quite surprised myself too that prices in HK are that high. Generally its the other way round. But i might do the same as you since i am based in China and will install the HK ROM if i decide to move away from IOS.
