Looking to use my old 5T as an emby server with an external hard drive, it was stock till like 30 min ago, as my research points that the stock kernel prevents them to have USB Storage + charging at the same time. Currently looking for a good ROM + Kernel to be able to this.
To summarize, I need to use a USB C Hub 7 in 1 (I only really need 1 USB A + Charging), this is not working with the phone as stock (not sure if it will be working once I add another ROM + Kernel)
For reference, the hub works with my 7T and Lenovo X1 as intended. It works on the 5T only either charging the phone, or using the storage, not both.

sry, could not hold...
Any valid microUSB 2.0 cable suits any phone.. viva la standartisation!
as for me:
I use great Nokia's cable CA-101 (that was stock with my old nokia n85)
and it's shorty version CA-101D (from my GF's old nokia 5530)
yeah, and stock sammy's cable is lying somewhere in it's box xD
Yup, any microUSB 2.0 cable will suit our phone. It is standard. Even blackberry charger is also suitable for charging our phone.
I cannot use my external hd, Or my two thumb drives (4 gb & 16 gb). Booted up with everything already plugged in. It says sda, sda1 created and so forth, but nothing is in the folders when I open them... unless I try my 256 MB thumb drive which works just fine. I just can't figure out what step I'm missing. Wireless mouse and keyboard work good.

I haven't yet tried it against a phone, but it starts & looks like previous version on Win7-32bit, thanks
[EDIT] I have now used it & it works fine with my Star N9599T (MT6589T chipset).
I did find that there is a timing issue - there is only a tiny window between plugging in the battery & plugging in the USB - something like 2 seconds. It does work without the battery, but there doesn't seem to be enough power available & operations fail part-way - BE WARNED
Do you know if something similar to this (photo below) exists for android device?i don't want to recharge the battery so i prefer no bluetooth

Something like this with at least 3 button?
http://www.radioshack.com/auvio-headphone-cable-with-mic/3300541.html#.VOHpnmPSJ0s&tab=tab3
I have found other solutions but none of them completely safe:
1) This seems great http://www.shopandroid.com/htc-wired-remote-control-stereo-headset/11A29A5242.htm , but it works on cyanogenmod?
2) buy headphones like thes http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007C5S3AU/?tag=stackoverfl08-20 and adapt them into an extension cable ad explained in guide like this: http://www.tested.com/tech/smartphones/2292-how-to-make-any-pair-of-headphones-smart-phone-capable/ or http://www.instructables.com/id/Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi/ or http://www.wisebread.com/build-a-cable-to-control-your-android-phone-while-you-drive
But I do not have the proper skill to do this task
3) control phone with bluetooth from linux os with sofware like this http://nohands.sourceforge.net/config.html or http://www.mulliner.org/bluetooth/xkbdbthid.php
But I do not know how they work and if they work with playback control as skip track
someone knows help find the simplest solution?
Hi everyone,
I got magnetic Type C Cable but it doesn't charging.
There is a blue led on it also (works fine) but no charging / detect in pc etc.
There are 5 pins from the cable to the usb-c connector and middle one can be moved easily back into the connector.
Is that normal or there is a problem?

Coil spring missing inside I'd say --> exchange.
Mine works but all contacts are spring loaded.
Thanks for reply, anyway I got it for free and don't need a new one. Just good to know that's the problem.
From what I Read some allow Data transfer and some do not. some are meant only for charging.
I read same information earlier but my cable doesn't work at all - no charging by charger or detect in pc.
Problem is probably "broken" pin in the middle.
