Samsung releases their nice shiny new watch and announce it has approval for ECG already?!?! I hope they are planning to update the Active Watch 2 REAL soon with that feature. I am pretty angry about it. We have been waiting 8 or 9 months for something they promised better not leave us out in the cold. Has anyone talked to support? I haven't had a chance to yet but will when I get time this evening. What a joke...
in Korea it is already integrated in the firmware.

Phone Arena says that BOTH the Active 2 and the Watch 3 received FDA Clearance:
" At long last, Samsung appears to have obtained FDA clearance to use the game-changing functionality on both the Galaxy Watch 3 and Watch Active 2, although you may still have to wait a few more months before a software update will roll out and enable the now-dormant electrocardiogram sensor."

The Huawei Watch Update to Android Wear 1.4 will start next monday, 29th.
The update will bringt some new features, especially the support for the build in speaker. Referring to latest information it will be possible to listen to Spotify offline playlists with the Watch. There will be also a new reminder and a keyboard.
I'm rellay looking forward to the update!

I'll believe it when I see (and hear it) myself on my wrist.
At this point people have had to wait quite a while for the update with very little news from Huawei.
God help us to see it!
it "starts" on Monday but Huawei have not detailed the update roadmap (which countries first etc..)....

Really? All the other watches to update so far don't even get the full benefit of the update because they don't have a speaker. I'd much rather have a well tested update that I don't have to worry about rather than the bricking mess that Moto is going through right now.

So you'd rather have a bad product that updated quickly, than a quality product that wasn't the first to update?
To each their own, I guess.

He'd rather have his "unicorn" moto 360 2nd gen since his (supposedly the one he is going get) is the only one in existence with a speaker in it.
Seriously though, if you truly aren't happy with a product, and you (as in everyone in general) aren't going to give constructive criticism, it's better to move on than to stay and spread nothing but negativity :good:

get ready for that new awesome fake always on mode... your watch display will be turned off after some time, even if you wear your watch
I realy love the watch without speaker. When i bought it i have no ideea that next update will bring speaker support. I think thats a briliant ideea to buy a product and after month and month when its getting old redescover same old product and love it again with a new feature. You wait long for update from google or huawei? U shoud see samsung users how long they have to wait for an update. Google just confirm speaker suport few month ago. Last year it was just rumoors never confirm. I am just curios how loud is the speaker.

I second that??
Fake always on mode?
I do believe he is referring to DOZE feature that turns off even ambient mode after a while if it senses it is not worn. OR the wake-up gesture that will be seconded by the "sleep" gesture where you lay your hand next to body and watch is put in ambient/screen off.

Thats the problem. It even turns the display off if you wear the watch.
Actually, I find it pretty neat and it already works for me in the current firmware. When I fall asleep on the couch with my watch on the wrist I wake up with it having display off. The same happens when you leave your watch on the table unattended. It works quite consistently as I never experience this "doze" mode when working at the desk or moving in general.
That's true. I also noticed this a few times when it's just on the desk, it turns off after 2 hours of non-movement

Is the display turned off only when you wear the watch during sleep or is it turned off in general?
I know that the display is turned off after a while when you put the watch on the desk, but that's not new, that's already the case.
This piece of news boggles my mind right now. I wish there wasn't a recall for Europe. But only if they prove safety of European models.
http://www.techradar.com/news/now-samsung-says-note-7-replacements-are-safe-to-use
Edit: I was since informed that this was older news. So not much hope here anymore.
If no recall what about Gear VR? I will be getting as a gift and now Oculus banned it for Note 7... What about 2 year updates? If they can deliver it + prove that EU Note 7 are safe I will still wait for mine.
The supplier i preorderd with has changed the release date (again) to "2017", thats as specific they would go.
Even if they continued with an European release i'm not sure i would get it.
I'm in Sweden BTW.

I hope it works out as I would really like on ( safe one of course )
Waited long enough, first for the Note 5 which I then decided against as it was a major dissapointment and then patiently have been waiting for this one so kinda sucks if it get discontinued
I have since been informed this was older news than the global statement. So hope decreases further.

Huawei confirms the original Huawei Watch has NFC and Android Pay is being tested on it
The rollout of Android Wear 2.0 has brought about a couple of interesting tidbits, including what we find to be a massive new piece of information about the original Huawei Watch: it has NFC.
The original Huawei Watch, which is set to receive it’s Android Wear 2.0 update soon, will be getting an additional piece of functionality in that an update will soon enable a dormant NFC chip in the watch.
In a statement to Ausdroid, Huawei has confirmed that the original Huawei Watch does have NFC, with Android Pay functionality currently in testing by the Android team at Google. The update to enable Android Pay on the original Huawei Watch may not go live straight away with the update to Android Wear 2.0, with a time-frame of Q3 given for the Android Pay functionality to go live.
The statement was given alongside confirmation that the Hauwei Watch 2, which will launch in Australia later this year alongside the Huawei P10 also has NFC built-in with support for Android Pay, but that support is functional out of the box.
The original Huawei Watch is still one of our favourite Android Wear watches available here at Ausdroid, and they’re getting cheaper as the launch of the Huawei Watch 2 approaches. In terms of functionality, it’s a massive step forward for owners of the original Huawei Watch.

Just got a answer from HuaweiGermany.. the Huawei Watch definitly don´t has NFC built-in.. so more speculations about this and Android Pay are not neccessary

Ausdroid is neither an official nor a reliable source. Huawei Watch does not have a NFC compatible hardware... its hardware has already been analyzed long time ago and though MSM8926 processor on some units migh have NFC support it doesn't have other hardware components required to use it.

AFAIK, they said the same thing about the speaker. I'm still skeptical, however.

Calm down.. It was planned for march, but delayed because of an new bug.. they are actually optimizing the new bug-free AW 2.0.. it should be available in few days, an employee from HuaweiGermany told me
still hoping, but reality says no...
Yeah, sure would be nice, however it's highly un probable.
then there is this: http://www.androidcentral.com/huawei-watch-nfc-nope
It could explain why is taking too much time to release the update. I have latest preview version in my watch and is working fine.
Article was recalled.
Hey all, so it's April and I still haven't gotten an update for my Huawei! What the hell? When I go to update software on the watch, it says I'm up to date with 1.6! Help! Any ideas? Thank you.
just need to wait the same as the rest of us. or install 2.0 DP
This is ridiculous. It's nearly May. Why build the hype just to break our hearts?
Huawei is simply waiting to release OTA update because is trying to boost sales of their crappy Watch 2. I think they won't release it before May or even June. Next time better buy a device from another brand

There's no way I'm buying new watch ( that' not even close to looks of the original 1) just because of aw 2.0 ! If someone from sales in Huawei is seriously tinkering that option he should be fired.
Welcome to the club guys! We have been discussing this issue from the time when Android wear 2.0 was released. The discussion is here https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/general/wear-2-0-official-t3553042/page63

Moto 360 Gen 2
Moto 360 Sport
LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE
Huawei Watch
Huawei Watch Ladies
Asus ZenWatch 2
Asus ZenWatch 3

https://www.gsmarena.com/android_wear_devices_to_get_oreo_update_starting_today-news-28614.php
I'm guessing that every watch that is supported by AW2.0 will also be getting Oreo update. Yes, original Huawei watch is already beyond the 2 year support period but i don't think that the same rules goes for watches like it's usually the case with phones. Do you think original HW will be getting Oreo? I mean, we got new security update some days ago so it's still supported
I hope so,waiting for the update in a month.
In comments on articles about this, people have been reporting even the original Moto 360 is already getting this. I'm not sure the relationship between android version and android wear code but maybe it's pretty easy to merge the Oreo updates with the manufacturer's code now that they are on AW 2.0.

The original moto 360 never even made it to android wear 2.0, so I highly doubt it is getting this update.

The fact that we got a security update doesn't mean much. There were some pretty high profile vulnerabilities that needed patching (KRACK, etc.).

That sucks :/ I kinda knew this would happen eventhough i was optimistic and hopeful that Huawei Watch still gets it. So, it's finally the end of software support for our beloved original HW **** you, you ugly ass HW2!
Can someone explain this End Of Life situation though...? The Huawei Watch is STILL on sale via Huawei's direct website! Surely they shouldn't be selling a watch without providing the software support seriously!? I thought the deal was 2 years after the device goes on sale or 18 months after it stops being on sale (whichever is longer).
I think this statement needs to be reiterated to Huawei and Google.
Also I bought the watch thinking the support life would be alot longer than a phone... People don't buy +£200 watches for only 2 years usage.
This "policy" may have just made me decide that I'm not interested in Android Wear anymore... Even my Pixel 2 will have a longer shelf life!
EOL is not here yet, just no Oreo. This is near the bottom of the article.
Some of the watches dropped from support include the ASUS ZenWatch 2 and 3, the original Fossil Q Founder, the LG G Watch R/Urbane/Urbane LTE, the second-gen Moto 360 and 360 Sport, and the original Huawei Watch. Those watches will continue to get Android Wear updates (like the recent v2.6 update) through the Play Store, but the underlying Android version will be stuck on Nougat.

The only one for the HW1 is discontinued. The dev's watch died and Huawei gave him a watch 2. If another dev steps up, yes, but since there was only one and that dev does not plan to continue.
The thing is I only love the look of HV1 watch. Most stylish. There is no other V2 watch out there that comes close.
I have a Huawei Mate 10 running Oreo so it's a shame my watch won't match my phone.
Custom ROMs are our only hope now!

Well actually, just staying on wear 2 isn't a bad option, it still works wonderfully.
I agree. The more that Huawei Watch (1) is still officially on sale and is more expensive in stores than Huawei Watch 2.
I've made a post on their Swedish FB-site, here in Sweden it is still actively sold by two of Huawei's recommended resellers advertised at Huawei's site.
Can we figure out if the 18 months after sale claim is valid for Wear as well as regular Android? And was this formulated before or after the launch of the Watch?
I spoke to Huawei Technical Service. They do not have anywhere indicated that they provide support for 18 months from purchase / production. They claim that it depends on Google - not from them. They do not guarantee anything
It's a pity, because I have their P9 Plus smartphone and Watch 1 smartwatch and I think it makes the highest-class flagship.
