The ATT version was rumored to have launched a couple of weeks ago (as per the ancient-looking leaked ATT docs)
Hopefully they'll all be out soon.
I don't understand why the companies can't tell us what phones and when they are going to come out.
I actually need this device for my work. I know I could get a touch 1, but with the 2 "rumored" to be out really soon, I figure I should wait. I don't have a problem waiting, but I would like some hard dates from these companies so I can actually plan and know.
Funny thing is, I'm with Tmobile right now, but their 3G is way too limited where I live now. Sprint, Verizon, and ATT are much better with their advertised 3G in my area. I have no probs switching, but who is gonna get it?
If this was just waiting for a toy, I could care less. But it will make my work at least 10 times more efficient with the use of all the features of this device.
Does anyone know a way to get a rock solid answer from these companies?

They get around to it when they get around to it, but there is an actual reason why it seems to take so long.
Although people like us knew about the Touch Pro2 and its design and specs very early on, and even though some Europeans are already using it, the truth is it still flies under the radar for the average consumer. The carriers and manufacturers like this, because they still have stock of the original Touch Pro, and if everyone knew the Touch Pro2's release was imminent, no one would finish buying up the Touch Pro 1s (IMO, there's still a segment that would want the TP1 over the TP2, but I think most carriers disagree with me and that's what really matters on a decision to announce and give solid dates) because they, like you, would wait for the TP2.
This isn't idle speculation on my part, the impulse to conceal the next model is a well-established business practice based on knowledge of the Osborne effect (although the origins may be semi-mythical, the effect does happen under the right circumstances).
Besides this, launching a device successfully is complicated. Announce a date and then have to delay it, then everyone gets pissed and the device/carrier gets a worse rep than if they don't announce but still end up with the same launch date. There's really very little upside to getting precise information out there as early as possible.

So true. A coworker of mine just bought the FUZE (TP1) because he had no idea that the TP2 was coming to AT&T (or even existed for that matter).
P.S. He's was PISSED when I told him!

Its true that these service providers hide the arrival details of new models. But the fact that frustrates me more is these buggers change names of models - like Rhodium is called by at least 4 other names including Rhodium, MDA Vario V etc. Is it must to create confusion among consumers?
Why can't there be a single name for a product (or 2 names at the most - one Project name - like Rhodium and other Trade Name - like Touch Pro 2)??

Anyone here know if and when the Asus Zenfone 2 will launch in the US? There are mixed forums on the internet, MOST of which list April 2015 as the launch date in a bunch of countries ... 1 of which, is the US. Well, it is April now and I cannot find any official word about whether or not the ZF2 will launch in the US.

Per Asus response yesterday to an email "Thank you for your inquiry of the ASUS ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML). At this time this product is not available in North America and there is not an official release date at this time as well."

That is a nice phone, congrats!
The problem with me is I already bought the phone, but it came with the CN (Chinese) firmware. It's the exact same phone as the TW (Taiwan) firmware, except it has different band configurations ... which is a reason for me not having the 4G I already pay for on T-Mobile's network. I am now in the process of returning this phone and getting a TW version, but I read here on XDA where people were mentioning the Band configurations on different firmware ... ONE of which happened to be "US" firmware. Since the US version isn't out YET (or ever ....), I assumed that since the Band configuration specs for it are posted, then there MUST be a US variant ... THUS the question.
Btw, thanks for taking the time and emailing Asus ... if you did.

Right. I think there will be one, but they're kind of being dumb about it. :/ I really didn't expect an answer, but was hoping maybe they could throw a quarter or month or something my way. Was worth a shot, I guess. Like, if you want to sell a million phones, freaking let us know if it's actually going to come, and a general idea when. You'd think their marketing department would get that.

I totally aggree ... I think that there might be a big problem between them and US authorities (FCC, customs, etc) and even large flagship companies. Any company would DIE for the pleasure of having it so easy that they just release all their products in every region. There are different bands, radio interference, and general telecommunications laws varying from region to region. I assume it's not IMPOSSIBLE for a HUGE company like ASUS to get all of that sorted out, but then again it is all about $$. Their lowest sale point (according to their marketing dept.) was probably selected as the US ... which is why they are releasing it starting from countries where low/mid-range phones are more popular than flagships due to their price.

You're completely right actually, as even way back in the earlier weeks after the Zenfone 2 was announced, I saw such info on the Asus site. Said info was essentially 'fine print' at the very bottom of the page, where they stated that the phone wasn't FCC approved for the US and Canada, along with some other stuff...
I'm not from such regions so I didn't think it'd cause any issues, but with what you mentioned here about such barriers makes perfect sense why there's no official launch event for those countries yet. Once again, can't blame Asus for having such a hard time delivering this beastly device, with such things taking a jab at their profits.

It does suck ... but nothing should stop us!
Order it from eBay, the Taiwanese version is the best version out there, I believe ... in terms of 4G on TMobile, Play Store preinstalled, etc.
I will be getting mine within a week, will keep the threads updated. I am currently holding the 1.8GHz chip of the Chinese version which is only getting 3G, and no Google Apps pre installed. I am having a bit of trouble getting Google Framework/services on it at the moment. It seems impossible so if GearBest decides not to pay return shipping, I will keep it and root it ... that should get me through the door to Google apps.
So since buying the PD I've had no updates. No monthly security patch. Nothing, nada, zilch.
Is this what life with a Huawei device is like? Buy it then bugger off? I've not owned a Huawei before.
The Mate 9 has on the other hand received a couple of updates so far.
Is it tied into to Pro and therefore until sales ramp up not much will be incoming?
I'm looking forward the S8 if this is the cases! And it'll be my last Huawei device.:silly:

I'm hoping the next update gets the Barclays Bank apps working soon. It's a pain not being able to do mobile banking
I got an update as soon as I first started it...this was on Dec 15th and it was the B138, then nothing more.
Different release schedules are irritating as well. European users are still waiting for the B156 firmware which was released in some countries more than a month ago. These countries are even getting a newer B16x release already, which I suppose will reach Europe by April if we get lucky.
I got my first update to pro version this week. I like the device also but if this is how the software updates to I will also leave Huawei for good after this

At least Samsung provided monthly security patches (later than google) for its latest devices.
Same thing here, no updates since December.
Can't really complain about any serious bugs though, wish they would fine tune the auto rightness a bit better but oh well.
No update on the pro either (even though I know it available in some regions )

Hi,
same here and cam really pissed for a device with 1400 EUR.
Also having a Mate 9 with several updates between Dec. and now.
Ihm missing mostly volTE and Wifi Calling. So much needed here.
I askes several times Huawei and get no feedback. What happen at Huawei?
I sent an email to huawei complaining about this:
"Bought my PD Mate 9 in december and firmware version is stil B138. No security patches since then, although on asian models there has been several updates. It is a miserable policy of your company. This is my third and last huawei phone"
and their reply was:
"The updating of our equipment is carried out in accordance with the specificities that our models present in terms of software and even in terms of hardware (equipment capacities), depending on the region to which they are destined to commercialization. Given this fact, there may be models available in other regions for which a certain update has already been made available in the sense of a security patch, and making this update available for other models may be made later. However we remember that the equipment model that indicates us already operates with the latest operating system version and user interface and it will be a matter of time until the equipment receives updates of this version, namely of security patches"
A politically correct reply but meaning nothing!!

Hello
this is not political correct and you should answer here urgently back:
Porsche Mate 9 / Pro or Mate 9 are similar based and Mate 9 gots a lot of updates in security area.
So what is the problem to get the security fixes here?
Android 7.0.1 is not save without monthly fixes.
So Huawei talks bull****.
You should feedback them
For me:
I will sell my PD and go back to Samsung or Apple. Here you get proper updates / fixes. Very important for us in a world, where Wikileaks is telling you, how many phones will be hacked on security based things.

I've just had a thought..
Are we going about this the wrong way?
The brand is Porsche Design, and surely they wouldn't want their customers being let down, it looks bad on them...
Maybe we should all complain to them?
I've sent them a message on Facebook, might be worth a try if everyone makes a point of contacting them then they might put some pressure for some updates to be released?
Clearly Huawei has made this phone, then left it and is looking after its own brand.

What you suggest can be done but I don't think it will be any worth. First, PD is a luxury ralated company and I believe most of their customers buy the phone and don´t worry abou updates and even less about freelance developers. But most important is that huawei also sells mate 9 PRO, which only differs from PD on memory (125 Gb instead of 250) and colour/stylistic finnishing.
So much more people who buy mate 9 PRO are left without updates.
I think that key pouit is about International models Vs Asian ones (these are updated more often).
But even about this, I remember that when I bought my Mate 8 from wondamobile they adviced me to wait for the international version, as they told that asian versions were not so reliable.I have no idea if this is true, but it is what I was told. But if it is true maybe that explains why asian models get more updates

Sounds like you PD buyers have a raw deal here.. I bought a Mate 9 Pro and I have had 1 OTA update from B139 (my base when i bought it) to B156 since I purchased it back in Feb. And looks like today theyve started to roll out B172 for Mate 9 Pro too.
I check the following site to see when new OTA's are in the wild: (dont bother trying to download these files and apply them yourself, it doesnt work).
http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=LON-L29
Then usually within a week or two (depends), they usually either show up in my phone or if I want them sooner Firmware Finder can download and push them to the Huawei Updater for me.

I totally think we've been screwed over. The phone cost twice the price of Pro (over twice the price of Mate 9) yet the warranty isn't as good and no updates.
I certainly won't be hooked by designer branding on phones again. Porsche should know better (how to treat its customers) whereas Huawei is like any chinese phone manufacturer and be out for itself. Disappointing. Waste of £600 in 3 months.

There's a thread around here full of people complaining and asking about when it's coming. No one knows.
It's a weird situation for EU. The carrier O2 released 2.48 for German devices...But not for all EU unlocked...
I thought at least EU unlocked should follow O2, but three weeks now..nothing happened. And the support team in France is so incapable that they said they don't know when is the next update.
I'm getting tired of this. If current sw is not battery draining and the long-exposure photo in pro mode RAW is clear enough, I wouldn't not be so anxious to ask for the new update...
HTC EU does a nasty job...That's why I'm switching to Pixel later this year despite HTC U11 is excellent.

Nobody seems to be able to answer this one. Trump has extended the entity list inclusion until the 24th of November to facilitate existing Huawei devises. What happens after that date? Do the updates stop? Sofar its looking that way. Have you seen/read otherwise?

Good question. Not sure, but Huawei in general is pretty weak when it comes to security patches and updates. An example, Honor 8X only recently received July security patch in Western Europe. ( UK ). C432.

Good question. I was under the impression that existing devices would get updates indefinitely, and that new devices wouldn't .
For other reasons , I returned my mate 20X a couple of days ago. But was looking at buying another.
I'd normally say ask the Reddit, but like most places it's full of opinion rather than fact.

its such a sad annoying situation, this was the only phone on the market that had a massive screen with slim bezels and still a flagship.
am paying like 580 euros for the global version and it could literally come in 3 days or something , now am thinking to cancel my order (( i dont want my phone to stop functioning or losing apps or whatever

I can't say , sorry.
Just out of interest, has Google made or given any statements regarding this matter to the millions of it's customers that are Huawei owners worldwide?

google made an early statement about huawie saying they have contirbuted alot to android and that the current devices will still be able to get updates and security patches and ofc access the app store.
but ofc as we were discussing above that we dont know for how long as nothing is certain or clear and with trump you cant really expect anything , as it was said they are giving customers a chance to migrate from huawei etc

Read this... It appears the only Google statement I see was prior to the current extension.

its clear that no body knows what happens after 19 of november and to be honest i dont think trump will back off and allow things to work normally without some sort of a deal that gets him to win something etc.
so for now, if someone will buy a phone it will work out of the box but after that no one knows etc

A win will be and he'll get it, a couple of billions dollars worth of fines and easing of on tariffs and so forth for the USA and it's cronies. That's my opinion.
Anyone that hasn't been brainwashed and with half a brain matter will know that the originating issue has nothing to do with national security.
Me personally, I ain't worried about it all. Like I mentioned earlier I'd rather buy low if prices crash. Couldn't careless about the number one spyware Google.

exactly!
either way the deal on amazon uk was the mate 20x 4g + mpen+the cover case all for exactly 586 euros as good as it sounds it still quite some big money and since i wont be doing much here in egypt till i move to germany i might as well wait those couple more month and see what happens .
as for google, i dont think they will just block all older huawei phones from their servers and services etc bc all was licensed etc .
as for the updates and security patches, its said that huawei will wait for them on AOSP then push them to their devices etc .
also the 5g version price is going down so fast that its now 737 euros on amazon spain which is crazy tbh.
so as you said would great to snatch a deal if prices crash, but will it actually happen ? who knows.
i do use google apps tho like gmail, youtube, maps and definitly the store for most of everything else

Whether it crashes or not, one thing is guaranteed the prices will lower. Personally I don't think the mate 20x has fallen as much as it should have. In my opinion it should be $499. Bearing in mind it's almost a year old and has lost only $300. AliExpress has the Chinese variant for $497.
