Bug: Incorrect Battery stats - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Can anyone confirm that in MIUI 12, after 48 hours of usage the battery stats don't start from 100% but from below 80% ? I have verified that stats don't reset after reboot so it is either bug or something I am missing. BTW batter life is grate so no problem there just a bug in stats reporting.

Hello.
On what OS are you atm? I dont have such issue on stock MIUI 11.0.2.0 P EEA and my phone is shutdown every night.
I am not fully sure I understand your question actually, because without any kind of charge input, phone should be about to be needing a recharge after 48h of usage.
Good day!

MIUI 12

According to a Youtube review on this subject it seems that in MIUI 12 the stats are for the CURRENT DAY only, not from the last charge.
This is obviously a change from MIUI 11, not a desirable one in my opinion.
Why would one be interested in stats just for the current day?

[Q] High battery drain because of Android-System

Hello,
I have a high battery drain because of "Android System". I lose about 3-5% per hour of my battery in idle state. I turn screen off and didn't use it.
I'm using Slim ICS ROM with franco kernel #174.
Badass Battery shows me that following included processes are in Android-System:
Code:
com.android.systemui
system
android:ui
com.tmobile.themechooser
surfaceflinger
com.android.settings
servicemanager
So anybody know what's the problem here?
I'm already disabled Google Photo Sync, NFC and GPS because I didn't need that. Also googling for the problem doesn't help.
Hope you can help, thanks!

Again, I've mentioned this twice today: Bullsh**, I don't mean to be disshonouring, or anything, but please, give proper answers,. It's all good, that you want to help, but only with proper and correct answers.
Right, back to topic;
Go into your dev. settings, and uncheck everything that doesn't need to be checked (Stay Awake, Strict mode, etc.) Undervolt the CPU, that should save a ton of battery charge, and underclock to 900-920 MHz, that is definitly enough, on a dual-core
Thanks for your answer =)
I think my phone is already undervolted through Smartreflex in francos app and I also tried underclocking by setting max cpu to 1036 Mhz (instead of 1200 Mhz).
The problem disappeared after 1-2 charges (don't ask me why..).
And now after flashing Slim ICS 3.9, battery time seems to be ok (for me at least).
Per hour in idle state the phone consumes ca. 2-3%.
I ask myself how do others get 1% drain over night. Is that even possible? Tried very much kernels (franco, trinity, glados and leankernel) and didn't even get near that.
Any tips?
OP Im glad you mentioned the issues went away after a few charges. this has been an issue for some who do not believe that a few charge cycles does anything. well im with you as i always see things sort of "settle down" after a few days of flashing a new rom.
I have the same problem on my Nexus S.
The process consuming battery is surfaceflinger. I can see it on battery screen before the name change to Android System.

I guess this is an Android problem. Not related to any device.
Android
Yes, i think your prob comes to every Android phone after flashing New rom.
Just wipe Battery stets after flashing. It needs few complete chargings to calibrate the battery.
There are also many apps in the market for this

This. People, just give it 2,3 days for the rom to settle after flash. Same for a kernel.

I don't know if was the new kernel I flashed or was the battery stats wipe I did, but seems now my phone have no more RILD/RILJ wakeclocks.

Yes, it is possible. I get 1 or 2% drain overnight with wifi and mobile data disabled, and up to 5 to 6% if mobile data is enabled overnight.
My record with it is 1 day and 20 hours from 100% to 3%.
I had a LG Optimus Black before and didn't last a day. I'm loving this Galaxy Nexus.

I would like to achieve battery drain like that, seems like what it should be.
I am running AOKP Build 2 and I feel like my battery life is ok but not great. I let my phone sit overnight last night with sync off, but LTE on and it drained roughly 4% an hour. I actually turned off LTE in the middle of the night to see if there would be a difference, and no, it drained at the same speed on 3G as well. I live in an area with pretty good reception actually, GSam says I spend the vast majority of my time with a signal strength of 4/5.
GSam reported that roughly 34% of my battery drain overnight was due to Phone Radio. Another 52% was due to app usage. Drilling into that it tells me that over 40% of the battery drain from apps came from "Android System", "Phone" and "Kernel". Under Android System, which was by far the greatest drain of the apps, it only kept the phone awake 1m18s overnight so that doesn't seem excessive. However, I'm confused as to why, with a good signal/connection my battery would drain at nearly 4% an hour whether connected to LTE or CDMA. Unless the radios in this device are poor, I have a hard time believing there isn't a way to fix this without using something like Juice Defender.
I can't recall because it's been so long, but I don't really remember any ICS ROMs draining this fast. I'm on a clean install of AOKP B2 and I've tried a few different kernels with the same results. Any ideas anyone?
So I wanted to let you all know that after trying a few different ROM/Kernel combinations all with similar idle battery drain, I installed the latest (9/21) CM10 nightly and I only lost about 10-12% overnight last night connected to LTE. That is a much better drain than the 30% or so I was seeing previously. Not sure why but my phone just hasn't been handling the latest AOKP builds very well. I am afraid to try a different kernel right now as I'm leaving town tomorrow for most of the week so I'll leave it as is until I get home next weekend, and see if I get this good of battery life with the latest Leankernel.
Surfaceflinger
The same happens to me, this app appear in BetterBattery stats, Surfaceflinger appear as the culprit of my 45%+ battery consumption caused by Android Sys
When I first rooted my phone (xperia S) I noticed an 31%+ energy consumption by Android Sys, I reflashed and re-rooted and stoped for 2 weeks or so, now 2 days ago I woke up to find that 81% of the battery is being drained by Android Sys, then it lowered to 31-43%. I noticed that when I refreshed the stock "Battery" app ,"Surfaceflinger appear for a moment, I seem that I confirmed with the BetterBatteryStats, Surfacaflinger appears at the top.
Why is this happening? Can something be done about it?
PS: I cannot change kernel, bootloader is locked...
Surfaceflinger and android.process.acore are top battery drainer. I mean how to make them not sucking on battery?

Jelly Bean Draining Battery

Hey,
I recently unlocked my bootloader, rooted, and installed CM10 on my HOX. I did a full battery drain and then full recharge before using, and still noticed that my batter is still being drained at a worrying rate. (3 hours gone and just 57% battery left) The screen takes 52%, but the Android OS takes 21% and the Android System takes 5%
Is there anyway I can reduce this battery drain? I understand the ROM is still in Alpha, but I've heard people still achieving 3 hours screen time with it! Maybe something to do with getting a new efficient kernel ? (I'm still new to all this).
Many thanks in advance

Stock kernel I presume :/
Try another kernel after a few days of letting things settle in.

hi there - just a thought of sharing with you since you've already rooted your phone -
- Domination ROM CM10 thanks to Owain94 check it out on the forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799375
- NCX 0.99bOC kernel by n3ocort3x see comparison here done by nimrodity (thank you guys) http://androidroots.com/king-of-kernels-kernel-comparison-htc-one-x/
Again it's a custom ROM expect for some bugs to come up - but you decide at the end since this version are better than alpha
Enjoying the flexibility & efficiency of the battery life on my HTC One X!

Bluetooth battery drain

Before flashing a custom rom i had no problems with my p2 at all. Last week I installed the lineage 14.1 rom and now suddenly the bluetooth function drains my battery a crazy amount. It can go up to 88% of the total battery usage, i think on the stock rom it was about 5 or 10%. I searched everywhere but couldn't find a fix for me. Any help?

I don't know the sot exactly. But it has been a big difference since then. I used to charge my phone every 3 days and now i have to charge it almost every day. It has become a pretty big inconvenience for me

Poor battery life

Hello, i have a problem with my A2 lite. Battery life is just 2days and 4h SOT. Suspect is system consumption 44%. Have you experienced that someone? I have to try factory reset, or what? Thanks for help.
You should definitely factory reset the phone, you should not be below 6h SoT with this battery... Im regularly getting around 8 hours of SoT depending on what u use...
Same here. 1 day after the november security update and I have almost the same numbers as the OP. Coincidentally, 2 days ago my ticwatch e started draining battery dropping to almost half of what i was used to. I suspect the update messed up something.
No strange battery drain since November update on my side. Maybe an app you use was updated at the same day which is causing the drain.
Facing the same issue after november update. Same usage, same apps. Might have to factory reset
Edit: careless of me lol
So I did factory reset. Issue with battery continues. Android system and google play services using most battery, altogether about 30%. SOT is basically half of what it used to be. Google play services are on the latest Nov12 version.
Edit: Whatever is broken, it also affects the battery life of my wear os device (ticwatch e). After connecting the watch to old cell phone (ascend p7) battery drain of the device stopped
It was the fault of the november security update and now there's another security update which is going to fix the battery draining issue!
Let's wait few days to see. Installed yesterday and the phone battery looked promising... Until paired with my wear os device (Ticwatch e). Then the battery drained started again, on both devices. Google Play Services still have top usage. (I tested the watch with my old phone running on lolipop, all ok there, so it's got definitely something to do with the latest updates)
Had same issue with 1st november patch, now the 2nd seems to have fixed: again slow draining...fine!
I've also experienced bad battery consumption since my 2x November updates, from 9+ hours SOT to 5 hours (approx 2 days to 1 day)
have the same problem, bought the phone, it was offering me upgrade to android 9, i did it, and the battery cannot hold for more than some 29 hours.... i cannot see whats draining it unless i root it, because Gsam cannot see which apps specifically. anyone still have the issue on android 9?

Yes, I have the same issue, on Android 9 I can't get more than 6h ScreenOnTime. That's the reason why I prefer Oreo

GSam Battery Monitor can be granted some rights by adb (no root needed), so it can show consumption per app.
Have a look at
GSam Battery Monitor -> Menu -> More -> Enable More Stats
I ususally have less than 2 days with 6-7 SOT. If it's less, GSam shows me, which app consumed more than it should.

been browsing the MIUI forum, some people having the same issue, the guys who dont have that issue, are claiming its adaptive batterys fault and that it will normalise in a week or so, when adaptive battery does its thing.
sound odd, but ok.
also, it says that rollback to oreo is not recommendable because some functions could get buggy.
I had a problem after upgrading, downgrading and upgrading again. Was apparently caused by a modem firmware issue. Reflashing the modem from 10.0.3.0 fastboot image fixed it for me.
Showed up as "system" but nothing that could be pinpointed with GSam (root) other than high load in the kernel.

not true. i have done the downgrade without issues. Oreo, in my opinion, is very optimized for our mi a2 lite....im waiting a better Pie version. if you want to read how to do the downgrade here the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/help/sim-card-issue-downgrading-pie-9-0-t3874350/page6
okay so what should i do now? after downgrading from 10.0.4.0 pie to 9.6.11.0 oreo and rooting and it got even worse than ever. Please advice me fast!

I don't know how you downgraded your phone but I've downgraded mine from 10.0.4.0 to 9.6.11.0, battery life is better than February update. Phone is snappy and had no issues at all (except for SIM2 which I don't use). I've also rooted it with Magisk.

Question Miui 14.0.4 stock Battery drain

Hello
I recivied 3 days ago a new update to Miui 14, before update the battery work for 24 hours good (40-50%), now afrer 12 i'ts 20%.
does anyone have this problem?
I am using Miui 14 (xiaomi.eu stable edition), and I also experience battery drainage. I am looking for any updates, but they seem to have dropped their weekly updates for Lisa (the 5G NE). Let's see now, because I ended up liking Miui and not like the UI of any other roms...
yes have the aforementioned problem of battery drain. Since I kept this phone as stock I cannot even revert version
Yes, I've faced the same problem. I was getting 10% overnight battery drain. Then I flashed custom rom(AOSP), and now the overnight battery drain is 4%. MIUI su*ks

On my Mi11 used to get 2-4% battery drain overnight on MiUI13, since i updated to MiUI14 i get 8-14% battery drain, counting i usually sleep 7-5 hours, it's not an issue since i can change fast, but it's goddam annoying that now i consume 15% insted of 10% per Youtube watching hour
One thing could be done is unintall Carrier Services updates.
Any custom rom > stock miui
I've noticed that "com.android.bluetooth" is draining battery. Is there some fix?
