I have received today my S20+ with Snapdragon, but I have few things that are bothering me and I cannot seem to be able to resolve them. If you could help me, I would really appreciate it. So here they are:
My notifications for Facebook and LinkedIn app are not working no matter what. They are allowed, sleeping apps are disabled, notifications are working fine on iPhone, they are allowed within the platforms. But on the S20+ and I am not getting any or any badges. I am using stock Launcher.
When I put my phone in Silent Mode, ringtones and notifications are muted, which is fine and it is the way I want it. But my media, such as videos on Facebook, Instagram etc. are being played with sound. How do I stop that? I like on my iPhone when I select with button on the side Silent Mode, everything remains silent unless I press volume button. Is there a way to achieve this on Android, too?
I am running latest firmware with everything up-to-date. Thank you.
I don't have any ideas on your first issue other than trying to reinstall .
As for muting all audio sources you can create a Bixby routine . See attached pic, then you can just place a shortcut to the routine on your homescreen.
Edit: if you don't want to use a Bixby routine you can also go to settings --> accessibility --> hearing enhancements and check 'mute all sounds' .. it's less convenient however
Have you checked data saver or smart pop-up view? I would check to see if your phone is in a power-saving mode as well, sometimes mine turns on and doesn't show the notification or icon that it's on and will not allow some notifications to come through... If you could, please attach a screenshot of each app's notifications screen. I would like to see what's going on.
Thank you for coming back to me. I think that routine could serve as workaround, I will look into it.
EDIT: Does not work. For example stories in Messenger are still with sound.
In regards to notifications. I don't know what else to do. It was happening on my S20 and S20+ with Exynos. I thought it was an issue with CPU. Changes to Snapdragon - still the same. Here are some Screenshots.
Data saver is OFF. In Smart Pop-Up View I have allowed Facebook and LinkedIn now.
About your sound issue... You have to mute media sounds, its different than ring and notification sounds. I personally use volime slider app, drag and slide on upper right edge of screen to increase or decrease media sounds volume, but you can use any app or sounds toggle to access all volumes.
I know its a long shot, but did you disable notifications on your facebook account by any chance? That would explain lack of notifications on all phones
But I have no issues with notifications on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Only on Samsung S20 series. No matter the Exynos or Snapdragon.

does muting all sounds in settings --> accessibility work for you?
That does the job. But when I press volume rocker for example in Instagram it stays muted = not what I am expecting.
From what I see, it looks like there is no way around to make it like iPhone.
I don't want to spam the thread and forums, but I am really the only one experiencing non-working notifications for LinkedIn, Facebook? And it is the same on Exynos and Snapdragon version. And it is definitely not related to settings on LinkedIn or Facebook - as they are working just fine on my iPhone 11 Pro Max.
I would like to be able to use my S20+ as well but without any limitations.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
no pišeš že je to rovnaké (na snapdrag a exynose) bez upozornení na FB a LI avšak ja mam exynos a nikdy som nemal žiadny problém s upozorneniami ani u týchto dvoch aplikáciách..
Translation: Well you write that it is the same (on snapdrag and exynose) without notifications on FB and LI but I have exynos and I have never had any problem with notifications even with these two applications ..

Translation: So I see that you have already written to me here as well. Well, I really don't know that where the problem may be, really. I also had Exynos, now I have Snapdragon, and it's the same for both. At the same time, the iPhone really has no problem, everything works properly. This means that it is not a problem on the platform, but in the applications.
And this is the situation I am talking about. I am currently having both of my phones on - iPhone 11 Pro Max and S20+. You can clearly see that notifications are not blocked on Facebook and push works on iPhone = badge counter shows 2 new notifications. On S20+ there is nothing on home screen or in status bar, but when I open the app itself, it shows that there are new notifications. And I can't find the reason why.

I'm pretty new to WM and the THD is only my 2nd after TyTn II.
I believe there has been discussion on available software for hiding secret contact, sms and other data but none so in detail for THD.
I've tried Skb Mobile Safety Suite v2.02 but it does not work properly in WVGA. Can anyone advise what other softwares that have the following features?
Hide selective Outlook & sim contacts.
Hide selective Outlook & sim contacts from public section but accessible from password protected section.
Hide incoming/outgoing/missed call logs from these hidden contacts from public section but accessible from password protected section so that we still can return missed call.
Discreetly prompt incoming calls or missed calls from hidden contacts so that we can still choose to answer or return the call. It can be a completely discreet with no clues whatsoever or selectable silent or single ring tone, vibration, flashing icon, fake alerts etc.
Hide contact photo associated with the hidden contact.
Hide hidden contact sms or selective sms.
Hide incoming, received, sent, saved, deleted, draft sms from/to the above hidden contacts or selective sms even if contact are not hidden.
Discreet prompt for incoming sms as with incoming/missed calls.
Hide missed call sms alert from selected hidden contacts.
Hide any other data.
This is pretty self explanatory but recommendation is still welcome.
I know the wish list is exhausive but any recommendation and discussion on currently standalone software that can achieve the above features in parts or a combination of different softwares that offer part solution if not complete would be still be very much welcome. Full compatibility may not be an issue for now so long it is still passable. It will be better than having nothing at all.
In the meantime, I also hope developers would pick up the ideas above.
Cheers!
lol, what are you trying to hide from your girlfriend? just joking
Hahahaha ;DDD

you said the mobile safety suite doesnt functions properly in wvga, but for what resolution is it? if it supports vga there is a wvga fix for vga only programs

Thanks! I dig around for more info on wvga fix but I doubt Mobile Safety Suite hides sms based on selected contact at the most basic level and will require very much manual intervention. I may be wrong until I try out the fix.
If there's any appz that that hides sms based on selected phone contacts and a separate one that hides the contacts and call logs, I'll take it.
Come on everyone's so squeaky clean? Anyone has any other recommendation?
Edit:
Seems like WVGAFIX3 does not support WVGA <->QVGA which I think is required by Mobile Safety Suite.

For most of your needs, there is an app which is called Magic Call (MagicCall). Look for it.
With this app you will be able to block calls and sms from certain numbers. It is really cool.

You got it spot on! The key is being discreet and hide the tracks. I think I might have heard of similar appz for symbian. Wonder if the likes of CIAs and FBIs have such a software to stretch it abit... kidding... Actually, even if the appz/solution/workaround have some loopholes, girls being usually less IT savvy, it might still pass and I'll take it.

Thanks! Really apprecite all forms of suggestion.
Just installed and still figuring it out. It does seems complicated and also "block" don't sound very right as jan understood my requirement. Girls are like money. You won't mind if you have more and you certainly don't "block" them.
Edit:
hmoroni, MagiCall is obviously a great appz. However, I'm not too sure if it suits my needs. When creating a new rule for incoming calls for the list of selected contacts, under "Operation" tab, options for "Action1" do not seem to suggest anything that will discreetly alert me so that I can choose to answer them when it is convenient to do so. The closest option is "Ignore" but will the ring tone still sound and/or the screen will still openly announce incoming calls rather than discreetly? If it does discreetly, then I'll still have to use another appz to hide the contact from public viewing, in which case I'm not sure MagiCall will still work as the contacts may no longer be recognised by it and therefore the rules will not apply.
hmm, I am sure the functionality you want can be implemented into an application, just cross your fingers and hope that theres a cheating unfaithful pimp developer reading this thread lol
But seriously an app that can do that would most likely become very very popular, so popular in fact that eventually windows mobile would gain 99% of the male market segment, and the remaining 1% would be on the FruitIphone

Then perhaps I should write to M$? Bill Gate$ might already have a ready made appz. If not, it does sound like a great biz strategy. He should rope both of us in as advisers.
I've been doing lots of searching and reading. There might be some appz that do what I want in parts but the searching and reading gets very tedious and short of trying each and every appz, I can only begin to understand them a little here and there before I think the appz is worth a try. Surely, there should be something that come close. Anyone?
I heard about apps that hides calls but i cannot find it...so me interested aswel
anyone got the solution 4 thiss??? hahaha... kinda need it rite now.... hahaha
It is really strange that there is no such application for WM devices. I know there are some apps for Symbian OS who are successfully working this what you are looking for.
why don't you try "sms security". been using this for a while and it always save my neck . www.easyhelper.net
Try EZ Secret SMS
Nice idea for an application
i think i will start working on it, but i will not be using it so don't think much.
maybe also can have a GPS integration so it will know that you are with X girlfriend and it automatically hides everything related to other ones
love the idea, let me plan this right

While I am enjoying many things about Windows Phone 7 like the look, feel, general speed and the type of APPS that are appearing I am more than a little annoyed at just how dumb they have made it....
The options to tweak things are just so minimal its almost a joke. I am not speaking as a Power User and I think this OS should not be dumber than an Iphone. As it stands I will probably still need to carry a work and person phone as this will not do both.
Maybe everyone list sensible features that are missing from WP7 that we can collate and send to Microsoft as things that need to be fixed really soon.
Obviously if the non features listed are already available please says so...
1. Copy and Paste (coming soon)
2. Fast App Switching (probably coming soon)
3. First two lines of Text Messages show on notification bar even when screen is locked - BIG PRIVACY ISSUE!!!
4. Cannot Search Company Directory after setting up an Exchange Account (even Iphone can do this)
5. Outlook does not allow you to display email by NAME or SIZE and it does not appear you can create a SIGNATURE...

7. Mainly HTC - We need a weather app with Active tile that will show location and weather and when you click it full blown HTC stuff
8. HTC Hubb needs to be updated to have active tile with big HTC clock rather then lady with glasses, in side there should be similar interface as stock HTC.
9. Task manager as some apps still stay open
10. A Wifi/Bluetooth/flightmode on/off widget that can be added to tiles
11. User made folders in apps screen as list gets way to long
12. Bluetooth picture and documents transfer
13. Active twitter tile so it can downloads tweats and let you know if there are new
14. Active messenger tile for obvious reason

I agree on the Weather App for HTC so that we can have it as a tile. And the Wifi/Airplane mode tile/shortcut on the desktop.
They also need to improve Bing Navigation. Or how about just allowing Google Search and Navigation onto the phone? hehehe... obviously that won't happen, but one can dream.
And please stop treating us like idiots. I actually rather like to be able to configure things and hate when I get patronized by companies that think that I cannot cope with too many buttons. hohum...

Dude, I have to say my girlfriends iPhone does this, my X1i does this (both when it was 6.1 and now 6.5) , the guy who sits behind me at work with a Desire does it. The notification usually disappears fairly quickly.
I sort of sympathise where your are coming from but, if someone at your office goes to read your notification on your phone if it is on your desk, your issue is with your colleague and you need to slap them upside their head and tell them to behave.....and to be honest, you'll probably forward that dirty joke onto them anyway and most probably let them know what your wife has in store for you when you get home just to make them jealous
Dude, I have to say with those other phones you can disable the text on the lock screen. Don't know if this is possible with the iPhone though.

It about Microsoft limiting choice to a stupid level or not thinking things through. In this case I don`t want personal or business information that is intended for me to be seen by someone else. I don`t think people are intentionally invading space really because it might be an innocent reaction of someone`s eyes being drawn to a message flashing on the screen of my phone.
I actually need my phone to be visible to react to missed calls etc... Not to show it off as someone suggested!! I don`t want to hide my phone every-time someone walks over to my desk to discuss something with me.
Those are really valid points.

Look - I'm not disagreeing with you about the fact that they should give us all the relevant options. I love to tinker and tinker with everything and I want the same options as you. My phone also sits on my desk in a desk stand in plain view so I can do just as you do. I have people constantly coming to my desk. If the phone goes off, it goes off but I continue dealing with the matter at hand and fix their attention to me not my phone - or they get a slap .

downloaded it.... havent yet flashed.... ppl give some changelogs or reviews about it pls. the samfirmware one is freaky....
update!
This the latest beta firmware of bada 2.0 for the Wave I & Wave II. Samsung has compiled both firmwares on Monday 8th August. Below you will find a short list with some things that has been changed or improved:
- New icon (Sound & vibrate) in the statusbar
- Better Graphics startup screen Chaton app
- Slightly changed keyboard
- New startup screen Twitter app
- Slightly changed Youtube icon (Menu)
- Faster scrolling through photos
- Voice output, you download German test voicefiles. With voice output your device can read incoming sms text messages, email and more. I haven’t test this feature at the moment.
- Can’t log into my Samsung account.
Problems:
With this firmware I faced for the first time some real problems, because it will crash on some (stranges) moments (mainly using the twitter app). I advice you to set the debug level on low, so you won’t get a blue screen with detailed crashlogs instead your device will reboot automatically.
For the ones who are using KIES for backups, I can advice you to backup only the contacts and sms text messaging. I won’t suggest to use a full backup, I’ve tried it 2 times but both times my device crashed and it got stuck into a reboot loop.
Overall I can say that the devices are a bit faster (snappier) but it also crashed often than before. Since this is just a beta firmware its normal that it crashed.
Once again I’m warning people that they should be aware of these things. If you want a stable 2.0 firmware you should wait till 2.0 is ready!!
- How to fix Samsung account problem...
There is a new Samsung Account login in this beta Firmware and it doesnt work, users cannot type in passwort and after klicking on logon bada crashes. But there is a workaround, so everyone can use the downloads in samsung apps.
At the first startup page to configure language time, and samsung account there is still the old login page.
You can trick the wave by removing your simcard starting the phone with it, then it forgets that it was already the first time started.
After that simply add your simcard and logon on the first startup page, after that you will not see in settings/accounts any account but you can use them as always.
Email accounts can be handeled over the settings/email and so on.
You will see Samsung Account over samsungapps.
Things I've seen already:
- much faster and smoother than before
- font much easier on the eyes (clearer)
- bootsplash black again (no blueish like in XPKH1) / dialogs still blue
- the 3 info pop-ups after first-run have been revamped
- several icons revamped
That's nice, but based on what I have read on the SamFirmware changelog, I decided to NOT flash my phone with this firmware, mainly because I don't particularly like (frequent) crashes....
I'll stick to XPKH1 for now...
20 more min of downloading (hotfile is piss slow as usual .. 100kb/s )
Then i'll flash as well

thanks for the clarification, nevertheless I rely on the twitter client... Anyway, I'm sure the next beta will have these problems fixed, and I feel safe enough with XPKH1...

what i want to know is does it installs all apps? is it worth the download?
Seems SocialHub - at least here - (changed CSC to DBT) doesn't show my set-up Facebook account, though it properly display the feed and posts status updates.
You'll see that it actually added the account by checking feeds or "add account" there facebook won't show up anymore (obviously).
More I noticed:
- phone faster reacts after boot
- you can't switch pages by swiping in the gap between the bottom two rows (on menu, not homescreen)
SamsungApps always tells me "network not available", also I can't see any string in it's UI.

But you're right, Hotfile is very slow generally...I paid for a premium account some months ago, and had been cursing every moment after I did that... Filesonic works for me like a charm for months now.
I also noticed:
- CPU usage in "About phone" is shown in real-time now
It was always in real time.
Is it safe to flash this one ? All the people who flashed.... are they experiencing loads of crashes ?
as other 2.0,, once get into contact.. then to get back to main screen will be difficult ... few home touch needed

Its exactingly the same as all the others. Nothing visually changes at all in the versions it just becomes more stable and less crashes and faster
Other than that nothing ever changes.... just sayin

There are crashes as before. But I was able to restore my yesterday's backup (with Apps ) and some of the stuff worked from the backup. Apps, background, internet connection settings. I tlost however my bookmarks, the homescreen settings, accounts and the ringtones...
But the biggest selling point of this fw is the SPEED. It's much faster. The browser flies compared to the KH1.

Not tried it yet but thought it worth a mention.
yeah but still some bugs there, some massive bugs.
NO pictures in messages, if you get a picture via message you dont see it, its just a empty message,
The same is with links, if you send or get a link from a friend or somebody, you dont see it, just an empty message. now the messages look nice and metro but not helpfull with not displaying pictures in messages, and links.
App is slower loading and there's a bit of a lag pivoting left and right. It was never as slick as the people hub but its got worse with this new version.
My phone is an Omnia 7. I expect it is fine on 2nd generation handsets. Will be worse on the Tango 256/384MB devices though...not a great experience.

There is a slight bit of lag on the nokia 900 but nothing insanely annoying. I do like that I can finally like comments. That was my main gripe about the app.
I still can't tag people in my comments am I missing something? I typed with the the persons name and it didn't work. Do u type @thenname like u do on the computer? How do u know you're tagging someone? Does the auto suggest for ur friends pop up like on the PC?
I think the lag is just bad coding to be honest. Although I won't hold it against the dev team because they're obviously working hard to bring us all the features. Windows Phone 8, come on baby!
The update is nice, but it's still not even as functional as the FB mobile website, let alone the Facebook apps for iOS and Android (which both have proper timeline support and this new Facebook camera app).
Also the lag is a huge issue on my 1st gen HTC Mozart. Totally blows away the idea that WP7 is a fluid smooth experience; Welcome to the Android world of stutter and non-responsive scrolling. Personally I'm going to stick to using the People hub (for the basics) + touch.facebook.com (for more advanced operations). The only really useful thing about the app is being able to check in other friends.

It's written and published by Microsoft isn't it? If MS can't write a decent smooth app for their own OS, that's a pretty huge embarrassment. I think it's just trying to do too much at once; photos, news stream and friends all syncing at once when you start the app. They need to make it do less (maybe offload some to a daily background service) and test it more thoroughly on old WP7 hardware.
It takes 11 seconds to start up on my Omnia 7. I wouldn't mind if it was pre-loading my feed but it isn't - that takes a further 2 or 3 seconds once it is loaded.
I don't really care that much about loading time..its the lag pivoting in-app that bothers me.
I'm guessing it is stretching the memory capabilities by having news feed, notifications, photos and favourites/groups/more/apps screens pre-loaded as pivot pages. Obviously Android and iOS do not have this problem because that information is not being displayed on a pivot UI.
eu acho que ainda falta alguns ajustes para o aplicativo ser bom!
only performance improvement I found is when scrolling through your timeline fast it scrolls properly and isn't so jaggy like the versions before. rest is the same.
It loads a lot slower than the previous version for me on the Lumia 800.
But it is not made by Microsoft, the app is outsourced by Microsoft to another company which apparently can not make it any better
Video....
I haven't used this app since v1.0. Does the app finally allow you to upload video to FB? Or any app for that matter?
Still can't go to another person's profile, and view THEIR friends list.
Can't believe they can't get this feature implemented...

Many options are here to allow you to tweek it to your needs. Some of them are more heavy for the battery.
For example, animation are optional, and even when activated, there are 2 modes: fast & slow (slow allows you to keep the animations with less battery consumption: slow refresh rate)
Neat face! I just bought it! So far it's showing zero for my steps. Thoughts on that? A different face I have displays my steps fine. Thanks!
Edit: I rebooted my phone and no steps. I then enabled Google Fit and its showing my steps. I use the jawbone up app for my steps but don't think it should hurt much to also use Google fit.
Is the battery meter for the watch or the phone. Can you add both or have an option to display both?

The battery displayed in the pictures is for the watch. But you can also add the battery of the mobile, as one of the data displayed by the round widgets
Step Counter
Hi,
If I choose Step Counter as one of the display options, I get a "There was a problem with Google Play services" (translated from danish).
Everything else is working, other watch faces (Ticker for example) show steps without problems.

Hi
This is kind of weird, because Google Play Services is a based library of your mobile. Try to reboot your mobile, and if it persists, check if you have the latest update (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=fr)
Looks good, but 2 questions....
Can I set my location manually (fixed) for the weather? I dont run GPS unless I need it.
And will the sms counter work if I use Wear Messenger. I block the notifications from the built-in messeging app on my Sony Z1 running KitKat.
Just for the record I would also like both watch and mobile battery levels displayed on the watchface. But the watchface could look a little odd with one battery level in one of the circles and the other listed outside seperately. I currently use Weather Watchface which has everything I need...except an unread sms counter!
