As usual I am not responsible for any damage cause to your tablet flashing this ROM:angel:
Some advice for newbies:
DRIVERS
There is no way to use PC with USB cable and flash with ODIN if you have not intaled the Samsung Drivers, search for these with your PC browser
OEM UNLOCKING
Go to settings/ About tablet/ Software information/ press build number 7 times to activate DEV mod
Go bac to setting down Developer Options that now apear
Tick Unlock OEM Your tablet will reboot and wipe everything so backup
Redo all setup Finish it even update if needed
FORCE REBOOT
Press and hold 3 keys Power/ Vol+/ Vol-
RECOVERY MODE
Power off tablet
Press and hold Power/ Vol+
DOWNLOAD MODE
For me the only thing that works is is at the same time force reboot when tablet off and connect usb cable to computer.
FLASHING ANYTHING WITH ODIN
ROM:
Place AP in AP
CSC_CSC_xxxxx in CSC
Place BL in BL
TWRP
Untick reboot in second tab
Place TWRP in AP
CHECK IF YOU NEED TO FORMAT DATA IN RECOVERY MODE
Boot in recovery mode
Select install
Select Storage on the bottom
If internal is 0mb you need to format data before doing anything that will allow you to wipe or zip anything but will cleann all you have on the tablet so Backup before
ROM FEATURES
Stock TF5
Rooted with Magisk latest and Weta Kernel latest
Heavy Debloat, most of the stuff you can install with Playstore is gone + some unneeded Samsung and Google stuff. No Knox, No Bixby, no Kids stuff, No digital wellbeing, No Microsoft stuff. It could definitely be cleaner; well that's for next version with maybe some more tweaking on Google and Samsung to reinforce privacy and improve battery life. Give us your ideas.
For now you still get Samsung Account, Samsung Store, Samsung DEX, Samsung Notes, Google Account, Google Playstore and Google
If you want to debloat more install Debloater module in Magisk and run it from Termius (Playstore) Example I got rid of Samsung Video Player, My Files, and hide Phone and Message as I don't use these and my App screen has no more than 11 apps before installing what I need.
Also for some interesting tweaking follow this thread and get rid of all: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s4/how-to/tweak-tab-s4-debloat-root-plugins-t4088699 still work pretty good except XPosed (Too bad!), Proca and few others but to disable big brothers It works fine. This is a great thread by @doggydog2
How To Flash this Rom:
OEM SHOULD BE UNLOCKED. THERE IS NO WAY TO TO THE FOLLOWING WITHOUT THIS STEP.
You need TWRP Installed. You can use flashify if you are already rooted to flash the new TWRP. If you don't know how refer to this thread from Mentalmuso: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s4/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-0-sm-t83x-t3928278
Reboot in Recovery
Factory reset, Wipe all but SD, Format Data (Very Important) (YOU WILL BE LOSING ALL YOUR DATAS SO BACKUP WHAT YOU NEED)
Flash the Zip file
Flash Encryption Disabler for now https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s4/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-0-sm-t83x-t3928278 Thread from Metalmuso, look in Android 10 forlder
Reboot
Finish setup
Update Google Apps
Update Samsung Apps
Launch Magisk and press OK , device will reboot
Enjoy!
If you need to pass ctsProfile to true, flash "[MODULE] MagiskHide Props Config - SafetyNet, prop edits" from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magiskhide-props-config-t3789228/post83146179 Downlaod magisk module, open termiux SU, Launch props select "2 Basic Autentification"
That doesnt fix Netflix in L1 even hidding Magisk. We wiill not implement that in the next update.
If you have issues with Bluetooth pairing not sticking after reboot go to Magisk, download module Bluetooth Library patcher 1.9 and install itin magisk, that will solve the issue.
Changes v2.3:
Fix /data not mounted
Fix Bluetooth not keeping devices BT after reboot

For T835, I have 2 report that Iris detection is not working, that's need confirmation. It works perfectly for T830
Now with this ROM you don't need Odin after installing TWRP

Thanks looks interesting. Will this be available for the SM-T835? if so i will definitely like to try it out
A huge thanks to @ianmacd for the disabler because without it we'd all be in the can :good:
Here's v1 for the T835 and @enotar will update the first post later today.

Sweet! Nice to see our Tabs have not been forgotten about. Look forward to giving this a try!
Google Drive folder T830 and link to T830 rom shared to all.
@enotar This is extremely exciting as I didn't think there'd be support like this for the Tab S4! I just have a question before I attempt this: Do I need to already be on Android 10 before flashing this rom or am I able to flash it from Android 9? I'm asking because I have the WETA Kernal + TWRP + Magisk installed, but on Android 9 (T830). Because of this, I'm not able to use system update to update to Android 10. If not, is there another way to flash this rom?

I will repeat myself do not wipe SD dont cross the box, you'll be very sad.

Moreover, i can't use intelligent scan, cause it says "can't open camera"

I keep getting "Failed to mount '/data' when I go to install... hmm... does anyone have any idea?
Currently running TWRP 3.4.0.4 and Android 9.0.1
Do I need to use a lower version of twrp?
I reboot, and I just get the bootloop now.

Hmm ok, I upgraded to 3.4.0-6 and still the same error and bootloop. I flashed the image and not through ODIN to install it to recovery.
I will go through and install the WETA kernel and encryption disabler.

Help
Hey guys,
Do you have a linux (ubuntu) step by step for dummies?
I'm new to this rooting thing and I feel like I need some help here. I've taken a look into the NRT tool, but it looks like it is windows only. Also, to flash TWRP it requires the tablet to be rooted. Kinda recursive..
Any help will be strongly appreciated

I posted live Linux info before.
TWRP root req is only one of the options.
In fastboot mode (when off press power+vol.dn) do...
Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.

Then boot TWRP and install SuperSU...zip
Thanks man, but it didn't seem to work. I was able to flash TWRP after unloking the bootloader. The problema is that it gets restarting because it says "could not mount /data folder [...]" and many other red lines.
It is late here, I'll be trying a bit more tomorrow. If you have any more guidance, I will strongly appreciate.
Thanks a lot for your help

I think you were also flashing a ROM/OS at the same time. The following should fix it...
Code:
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata
Note, your data after unlocking is gone already, so do not worry about formatting the partition now.
Thanks dude. It works smoothly as it should be. Thanks to you. You saved some hours of my life for sure.
I was able to flash android 7.1 on my tablet. Right now I stuck on gapps because it says it does not enough storage. But when I start android and check the storage it says I'm using 5GB of 29GB.

2013 version
I am having troubles rooting Nexus 7 (flo) running 6.0.1 with a dead USB port (apk only). Tried Kingroot and towelroot (v3), both would not work. I tried downloading an earlier version of towelroot (v1) but the app updates to v3 automatically (yes v3 uninstalled and cache cleared with restart). Love some solutions as I am totally lost. Thanks.
Hi all,
I'm on OpenBeta9 and have /data formatted with f2fs. Couldn't find a clear indication of what TWRP version (and SuperSU) is compatible with this setup.
Could you please assist?

Hi MrSkyFail, thanks for the reply.
Was your problem preventing you to use TWRP normally, or something I could work around?
Also, would you have download links? SuperSU should be easy for me to find, by TWRP is always a mess, since it's a mod version.
Thanks

I found out that if you only flash OB9 from TWRP, even though you formatted your /data partition and is f2fs, if you don't flash SU before your first boot, your phone becomes encrypted and you will have TWRP pin issues.
The other issue I found was that if you flash OB9, then try flashing SU (I'm running SR5 right now), it doesn't want to boot. The only way I got it to work is after you flash OB9, Mount /system and delete a couple of google apps (for me, I deleted Calendar and gmail; you can download these after you boot up from playstore), then flash SU, then reboot, and profit.
So order of things for me:
1. Wipe (make sure /data is f2fs)
2. Flash OB9
3. Flash TWRP (modded 1-28)
4. Reboot to recovery (you may have to do a manual power off then volume down + power on)
5. Mount /system and delete calendar and gmail apps
6. Flash SU (SR5; I think there's a newer version but I haven't tried it with the new one).
7. Wipe Dalvik and Cache
8. Reboot System
If everything is done correctly, your phone will reboot twice.
You will have dm-verity and unlocked bootloader warning screens.
First boot takes about 3-5 min.
Why would deleting a couple google apps be necessary? I don't get it. And this applies for having cache f2fs too I assume?

You may only need to mount /system before you flash SU. I can't find the post at the moment but this was mentioned (delete a few apps) when OB8 first came around.
Only the /data partition has F2FS support on stock OB8 and OB9.

No worries Looks like someone beat me to it. Here I am sitting with a 75% upload on my potato internet haha.
Just FYI the build is pretty buggy, things I've noticed so far is that opening quick settings animation can trip out a little bit and every now and then icons from the status bar go missing also search in the settings can crash the app. As expected from a first build of this new style, might be a dealbreaker for some but the new look is pretty sick so it shall stay on my device until the next developer build. :good: :good:

Hey, I came from the latest developer ROM release from the official MIUI download site.
Used TWRP and did a clean flash after wiping literally everything possible twice. Getting access from Xiaomi to have the ability to unlock your bootloader does not wipe anything but does take up to 72 hours I believe. Unlocking the bootloader itself will wipe all your data and factory reset so if you're planning to flash a new ROM anyway then it's not a problem. I rarely use these nightly more experimental builds because they are less stable and I need to use TWRP which isn't much of a problem but the stable and developer released ROMs from the official MIUI download site are available as a fastboot version which you can flash with the Xiaomi Flash tool which fully wipes anything and everything from the phone and installs your MIUI ROM of choice as it were a new phone.
If you or anyone else uses Discord, feel free to hit me up on there. I have barely any status on this website but have been mucking around with ROMs for years. Kaji#4985

Hi there friend, what kind of flash are you doing? Dirty or clean. The chances are you need to wipe everything before this installation.
Also, what ROM are you coming from? If it's a version before Android 8.0 you may need to flash any of the official global oreo ROMs from the MIUI download site first which I would recommend doing the fastboot way (downloading fastboot version of the ROM and flashing with Xiaomi Flash Tool).

I'm no expert but I recommend just flashing it in TWRP. Fastboot flash TWRP and boot to it, wipe everything...EVERYTHING, and then copy the zip across for this ROM then flash and reboot.

1. Use latest TWRP
2. Quick wipe
3. Flash rom
4. Factory reset
5. Boot
That's always worked for me for any rom whether it's custom or miui.
so I am doing it, but I can not make it walk, I have returned to Xiaomi.EU, the way I return to Xiaomi.EU is the same method I use for ROM 8.5.11.
Thank you.

I'm no expert but I recommend just flashing it in TWRP. Fastboot flash TWRP and boot to it, wipe everything...EVERYTHING, and then copy the zip across for this ROM then flash and reboot.

Can i flash it on device via update or i have to use TWRP? I am on unlocked mi Mix 2 with Oreo?
I went to the dark side in April 2016, and haven't flashed anything in about 2 years. Wife's tablet (flo) needs an update, MM is getting laggy though the tablet has always been good to us.
Titanium was getting to be crap around the last time I used it, with problems mostly restoring, does that still hold true? Might just use it to back up a couple apps she uses a lot and just use Play Store to restore the rest. It's not really important, just curious.
Downloading the TWRP app, I know TWRP is installed but willing to bet it needs to be updated and the app can do that.
Tablet is near its EOL, not planning on rooting it if the ROM doesn't come pre-rooted. I have no idea what Magisk is.
So I'm gonna go into TWRP, wipe system, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. Flash ROM (going with Lineage 15.1). Now at one point 2-3 years ago the common wisdom was starting to become "flash ROM, boot ROM, reboot to recovery and then flash Gapps." Y'all still doing that? Or can I just flash Gapps right after flashing ROM and reboot then?
Bit nervous as I haven't flashed in a while, but also kind of exciting.
We've got Android 8.1 Oreo now... Working perfectly on our Nexus 7... You should check it out...
Any suggestions for which are the most stable roms to try? I'm in the same boat. I'm on android 6.0.1, stopped flashing things a while ago and it might even be official! But mine's running like a dog so think I wanna try something to jazz it up!
You should try pure Nexus rom based on 7.1.2 for ultimate good battery life. Oreo is Good but battery isn't the greatest.
Well i have been rooting for a bit.
My N7 2013 Flo is not rooted. It is unlocked.
I thought i have via adb fastboot put latest twrp on it...but i turn it off (go into bootloader) toggle into recovery...tarp is not there (triangle with red 'i').....
I dont want to go ballistic but I never would have thought I am having such a hard time putting recovery image onto it.
It is stock 6.1
CF root doesn't exist anymore...some say use majisk....that's not working....
Without a recovery tool....(twrp) nothing can be flashed..
AM I MISSING SOMETHING

Firstly, your stock 6.1 is ancient and obsolete. Here are detailed instructions to install a modern Android, TWRP and root....
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/flo/install
ROM - https://download.lineageos.org/flo
native root solution, no need for CF, Magisk, etc. - https://download.lineageos.org/extras (install addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip and activate it in the developer options)

I did the 'install lineageOS on flo and installed TWRP latest. Seem like fastboot went into a slew of commands
and finished. I followed the steps to reboot into recovery and twrp is not there. Android dude opened with red triangle.
I have no clue whats up. I leave it sit, and it reboots into android splash screen and bootsup so i can use the tablet. I guess this is why I am soo perplexed. "Am i missing something?"

I think you have missed this step.... "Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install." - https://twrp.me/asus/asusnexus72013wifi.html

Thank you for 'helping me'......I have googled this combo everywhere and tried it all. Nothing is allowing the tablet to populate into twrp.....
Perhaps its really not fastbooting twrp into the device

Wait, is Kevin_McLaughlin=ganggreen777 ?
Anyway, here is an alternative way:
- fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-flo.img (please copy the output and post it here)
- fastboot reboot-bootloader
- select recovery in the bootloader
That's it, but you must do it in this order or else TWRP will be gone again.

I will do as stated above (I swear I am (thinking) I am doing it as above all the other times. (when you say copy output...is that from the fastboot dialogue? ) ...is it as easy as copy paste ...I dont remember how to copy via adb fastboot...
(Makes me wonder if twrp is really being fastbooted into the n7 2013
Thanks for helping.

You need to do the following in TWRP:
(Optional, but recommended): Select the Backup button to create a backup.
Select Wipe and then Advanced Wipe.
Select Cache, System and Data partitions to be wiped and then Swipe to Wipe.
Go back to return to main menu, then select Install.
Navigate to /sdcard , and select the LineageOS .zip package.
next install the addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip (root addon)
and finally GApps (Google Apps) from https://opengapps.org/ - select ARM 7.1 pico
"Note: If you want any Google Apps on your device, you must follow this step before the first boot into Android!"

A word of caution: I am not a ROM developer for this device, I'm just giving a safe method for flashing GSI to this device. If you decide to flash an unsafe/untested GSI (which is anything other than Havoc OS 2.9 GSI) the resulting outcome is your fault, may that be your phone booting up to the welcome screen of your new ROM or a brick. If you have any questions, please PM me.
1. Unlocking the Bootloader
This is pretty easy.
-Install the Mi Unlock app from here on your PC.
-Go to the Settings app on your RN8P.
-Press About Phone and then press the MIUI version number 7 times or until it says "No need, you are already a developer."
-Go back and scroll down until you see Other Settings. Tap Other Settings and from there tap on Developer Options. From there you should turn on OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging.
-Scroll up and click on Mi Unlock Status. Add your account there and install the ADB and USB drivers for this phone onto the PC that you installed Mi Unlock tool to.
-Connect it to that PC via USB and turn off your phone. Open Mi Unlock. Enter your Mi Account information. Enter fastboot mode by holding Power and Volume Down on your phone until a picture of a rabbit appears.
-Press Unlock on Mi Unlock. Then, the program will either say that your phone is unlocked or that you have to wait 168 or more hours. If it does tell you this, wait until that time is up to press unlock again. Once the program says that your phone is unlocked, you're good to go.
2. Installing TWRP
-There isn't actually any official TWRP Recovery for this device, as you may have noticed. Instead, download the LR TEAM Unofficial TWRP here onto your PC.
-Install Szaki Tools onto your PC here. This is not only a minimal ADB/Fastboot tool but it also contains a graphical interface if you need it.
-Install OpenJDK here if you want to use that graphical interface unless you already have JDK installed.
-If you want to use Szaki Tools Graphical interface, connect your phone to your PC via USB and open the file called XiaomiADBFastbootTools with OpenJDK or something else if you already have something to open JAR files.
-Factory reset your phone by going to My Device in Settings, then going to Backup and Reset and then to Erase All Data. Then, press reset phone at the bottom. Put in your password if you have one and press OK on all of the warnings.
-You will see a loading bar, wait until it is finished and then hold the Power and Volume Down buttons to enter Fastboot before the phone boots up to the welcome screen.
-Open XiaomiADBFastbootTools if you haven't already and click on Select Image. Navigate to the LR TEAM TWRP file you downloaded earlier and flash it to the Recovery Partition using the dropdown next to Flash Image. Flash the image.
-Turn off the phone and then boot into Recovery by holding the Power and Volume Up buttons, releasing the power button when you see the Redmi logo.
3. Installing GSI, Magisk, and GAPPS
-Install your GSI (Havoc OS, Pixel Experience, Lineage OS, install at your own risk, Havoc OS tested and works great), Magisk, and OpenGApps Pico package
-Go back to your phone, which should be in Recovery mode right now if you have followed this guide up to this point. Select Wipe in TWRP and then select Format Data. Type yes and then press the check mark.
-Go back, press Reboot and then Recovery. Hold Power and Volume Up and then release Power once you see the Redmi logo to boot back into Recovery.
-Go to Wipe again, but this time press Advanced Wipe. Select Dalvik Cache, Cache, and System. Swipe right.
-Transfer your GSI, Magisk zip, and GAPPS to your phone after you've finished wiping.
-Flash your GSI and Magisk, and then flash GAPPS. If you get an error while trying to flash GAPPS, it's fine. Just continue on to the next step.
-Press Advanced and then Close AVB 2.0 . Make sure you check both before swiping.
-Press Reboot and then System, and then boot into Recovery again using Power and Volume Up.
-Reboot again into system from there just wait. Your phone will probably reboot by itself once before booting into your new GSI ROM.
-If GAPPS did not flash the first time, boot back into Recovery and go to Wipe.
-Press Advanced Wipe and press Repair or Change File System. Then Flash your GSI, Magisk, and GAPPS again.
You should now have a functioning GSI ROM on your phone!
Please let me know which GSIs work, I've tested Havoc, which works really well in general. I've tried flashing Pixel Experience, PHH Treble, and Resurrection Remix and they did not work for me. I have heard that some people have gotten PHH Treble and Reurrection Remix to work though.

Would love to see people post results here.
I am currently on xiaomi.eu 11.0.2, so far so good.

You're welcome!
Tell me what other issues you have if you run into any.
Specifically, what is the camera situation?
If I have already closed AVB2.0 ,twrp and magisk on MIUI 11.3 (android 9). What I should do to try havoc 3.0. If I flash your recovery and in your recovery flash GSI and format data it should works? Sorry for my English.

You already have TWRP, which I'm assuming means your phone has an unlocked bootloader. Just follow the guide from step 2 (Installing TWRP) to the end of the guide even if you have already installed Magisk and flashed TWRP.
I have not tried Havoc 3.0 yet, I have tried Havoc 2.9.
As Havoc 3.0 is an Android Q ROM I'm not completely sure if it will work. If you want a ROM that definitely works, use the link for Havoc 2.9 that I've provided in the guide. You can try Havoc 3.0 if you want, but you could possibly get bootloop and have to reflash MIUI again.
By any chance does havoc gsi have face unlock? Does Bluetooth function properly? Any random screen flashes? To be more exactly what exactly is not working for this os?
Thank you!
I keep going back to recovery after following GSI installation properly, did i miss some step?

Havoc does not come with Face Unlock, but you can always flash the Face Unlock apk as a system app. I've tried installing it as a regular apk without TWRP and it does not work. If you want me to attach a Face Unlock zip to flash using TWRP to the post I can do that. Bluetooth does not work properly right now but I'm looking for a fix. Screen flashes occasionally in anything other than the stock camera app that came with the GSI. IR Blaster only sometimes works. Otherwise, after resizing and disabling HW Overlays everything works.

If you keep going back to recovery, it's a sign of bootloop. If you installed a GSI that bootloops, go to Step 3 of the guide and start from there once you're in recovery. Try a different GSI if it wasn't Havoc; I could never get PHH Treble or Pixel Experience to work.
This is awesome news!! Really thank you so much. Please keep me updated on the status of your progress with what is working and not. But I am stoked we have Roms for this device. I won't flash until Bluetooth is working. But this is likely right around the corner. ****ing awesome tho!!
:good: Yes, this is awesome work! This super phone with a safe ROM will be a dream! Keep up the good work.
(also waiting for the Bluetooth to work before I jump to it)

I know that it says that it works, but every time I have tried PHH Treble the phone won't go past the boot animation. It just says "Android" and stays there. I do not really have the time to test a new ROM; I'm trying to get Bluetooth working right now on Havoc OS. You, or anyone willing, can try it out and post here if it works and I can add any extra steps needed to the guide.

From sourceforge, the file is formatted with .xz extension, right? so I extracted it and get the .img file.

Yes! But follow the instructions
Suggestion:
Shall we have separate threads for each GSI attempt? (Havoc, LOS, ...)
That way one can concentrate on the issues on a particular ROM
