I recently bought an SG Tab S6 Lite to replace my ageing SG Tab 2 10.1, which was no longer playing Disney+/Netflix/etc well. i'm very happy with the SG Tab S6 Lite. I use it mainly for reading eBooks and streaming movies: it handles both activities well. When browsing it is pleasantly responsive. The 15W charger which came with the tablet means it charges in half an hour or so, if not drained too far. So, for ordinary, everyday tasks the SG Tab S6 Lite is great.

Amazing device. Perfect for study, work and watching movies. Good screen but it is not an AMOLED. SPEN is very useful. Perfect and rich-of-features software. 9/10

[Q] Samsung Note 10.1 2014 or Sony Experia Z2

Have troubles deciding which of those 2 above mentioned tablets I should go for, the Samsung Note 10.1 2014 or the Sony Experia Z2 Tablet.
What are your thoughts about this, what would you recommend based on your user-experience?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Note2014 pros: SPen, highres display, better battery life.
But Z2 is great hardware with its water and dust proof protection and NFC (useless for me)
rest is here http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6145&idPhone2=5677
Personally for me SPen (especially air view feature) is biggest advantage over rivals.
Thanks for the answer, but you also know just specs don't say anything about use in real world.
I am interested in hearing what people think of their tablet. Your comment about the S Pen is also something i like, i use a pen with my Surface Pro and i really enjoy it.
But, real life experiences is what i hoep to hear in here

Maybe I`m not clear enough, I own Note 10.1 2014 and my brother just bought Z2 tablet and I have ability to compare side by side these tablets. After playing with both I`m confident in my choice and never regret my decision about Note 10.1, especially when it comes to battery life and display.
However I have to say Z2 is more stylish and significantly lightweight and slim.
Thanks Kornelius. Glad to hear you have experienced both tablets.
And good to hear youy choose the Samsung Note 10.1,, which makes me think about that one more.
Note 10.1 wins
I don't have a Z2 tablet but I have a Z1 phone, Note 3 and this Note 10.1
The thing I don't like about the Z1 was the lack of hardware buttons.
I don't like how part of the screen is wasted to provide these buttons on the Z1 as well as other Android tablets I've owned like Nexus 7, Asus TF101, TF201, TF300, TF700, Padfone Infinity.
Having gone from Dell Streak 5 to Note 1, Note 2, Note 8, Note 3, and Note 10.1 I feel kind of lost sometimes without the hardware buttons.
I feel like Samsung got it right, and Google Nexus and all the onscreen button camp got it wrong.
I even prefer the back button on the right as it has better ergonomics being directly under my right thumb as a right hander when using devices 2 handed.
And then there is the S-pen and Sketchbook Pro that puts the Note tablet on a different level.
If I was buying on looks and form, it would be Z2 looking pretty.
If I needed to use it with function over form, Note 10.1 wins easily.

What is better than an Tab S? Anything comparable?

I still love the size and awesome screen etc of the original S1
Of course battery is an issue but i love the 8.4 inch form factor and thinness.
What Android tablet out there trumps the S1?
I cant seem to think of many.
YEP
I picked the last one off Swappa over the weekend. I have had it before but thought the display wasn't that great. I still don't think it's as good as the S2 display despite being higher PPI. The only thing I think comes close is Huawei Mediapad M3. But it doesn't have as strong of a development community at least at this point. Everything else is comparable or better I think. Great display, but not AMOLED. Comparable performance, SD card slot, USB-C etc.
You dont think the S1 display is good?
in term of what? Display & dimension? None to me. I even dumb my tab s2 8.0 and back to tab s 8.4 due to the screen dimension. Since i watch a lot of movie using the tab i hate the big black bar on tab s2. I really hope they did make the storage to 32GB last time... it will last far longer then the current 16GB space. But it more comfortable if you do reading on Tab S2. Gaming wise... well more less the same. It eat battery like nuts... hahaha... In android world the only thing that can give far more better experience IMO are Nvidia Shield. that's it.
Nothing it cannot be beaten in my opinion, It`s the oled display at 16:10 ratio and 10.5" size that makes it the best, the S2 and S3 have an 4:3 diplay, and if your primary use is video/movies it`s the best.
John.
I am pretty happy with the 10.5 Tab S. It does have flaws, but I don't think it's worth to throw it away and buy a new tablet. However, if it dies, there is no way I am buying another Tab S again. I'd probably go for Lenovo's new line of Yoga Tab 3 Plus 10 inch tablets or for the Huawei mediapad M3. If the prices of the new Tab S3 drop down by the holidays, I'd consider one of those too.
I switched to the tab s3 from a tab s 10.5 last week. Loved my S but it started getting pretty laggy and Ive been waiting for months for something decent to come along and check all the boxes. I'm pretty happy do far, waiting for reviews until I decide on what case to get.
Also, Best Buy gave me $100 trade in for an old note 8.0 Att tablet I had laying around and it looks like I can get $150 easy for the tab s so that makes it easier to swallow.
Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
And the S1 has stereo speakers in the correct location for watching a video in landscape mode, the S2 and S3 has both speakers on one end for use in an portrait mode, good luck getting a stereo effect with that when you are trying to watch a movie.
John.

Has anyone switched from an ipad to tab S4?

I'm currently using an iPad Air 2 looking for an upgrade, my 2 options being the iPad pro and the Samsung tab S4. If anyone has switched from on ipad onto the Tab S4, I want to know whether the change was good or not? I use my ipad for reading books and digitalized notes plus videos from YouTube, Netflix, Prime video. How does Tab S4 fare as a book reader(pdf)?

I switched from an iPad pro 2017 to a Tab S4 with no regret.
The iPad is a well built device but I wanted something with more possibilities (root) and being consitant with my android phone (Pixel 3)
With Vanced Youtube, no more annying ads
To read pdf I simply use google pdf reader, no problem to open pdf files as big as 450mb so far.
I think this is he best Android tablet you can buy at the moment
Hey,I switched from ipad 6 gen (2018) to tab s4 and I'm dissapointed,I would rather take ipad pro. The screen color saturation is great tho,but it is slower and more laggy. Ipad pro 2,3gen processor has much better performance and I like the interface more on ipad. But I don't use device as a ebook reader.

I switched from an iPad Air 2. I do miss the iPad Form factor but this is a great tablet. But I have been leaving the Apple ecosystem and the iPad was the last thing I had. I moved to a Pixelbook from a MacBook Pro. I believe this is the best Android tablet on the market today like was mentioned earlier. The 16x10 display is good for movie watching and I have felt no lag like previous Android tablets I have used.
I think this is a pretty good video to take a look at: https://youtu.be/q24uD5UgT-0
I've had 2018 ipad pro, but send it back to Vodafone and got myself tab s4. No regrets.
Ipad is certainly nice looking and powerful, but all that power is restricted by IOS.
I mostly use my tablet for netflix, youtube and such, so 4:3 aspect ration on ipad was annoying. 16:10 on tab s4 is much better, minimal black bars on screen.
Only thing I miss from ipad is face id. It works on day and night unlike gimmicky iris/face unlock of Samsung that struggles in dark or if you wear glasses.
I have both the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 and the Galaxy Tab S4. In my opinion the 16:9 aspect ratio and the vibrant AMOLED display are much better for media consumption as mentioned in the comments above.
There is no denying that the iPad Pro is very quick with the A10x Bionic SoC and 120Hz display but what can you really do with that power? The Galaxy Tab S4 is not quite as fast but it is certainly no slouch and performs very well in most tasks. It would not have any issues for the purpose that you have described.
In addition, the Tab S4 LTE version (T835) can do phone calls and SMS's as well as WhatsApp and various other mobile apps. (Something that iPad has never supported). It also has support for Bluetooth mouse and keyboard which is very handy if you need to do some basic tasks and don't want to carry a notebook with you.
Finally, the USB-C port on the Tab S4 is more versatile due to the Android OS which is less restrictive than iOS. (For example you can access files on an external drive)
I had the Galaxy Tab S3 before and tend to use my Galaxy tablet more often than the iPad simply because of the flexibility. (For example, I wanted to copy photos and videos onto my tablet to show to some family and friends the other day and just couldn't find an easy way to do that with iPad because once the file were transferred, I wasn't able to find them in the video and image viewer, whereas with the Galaxy Tab, I just connected it to my PC and dropped the files onto the memory card, Done!)
its sad they wont make a flagship tablet. theres no reason for it to be slower than their flagship phones. it would be one thing if it was just a little slower than the ipad in benchmarks, but in some areas its like half the perfomance!
An update on this, I finally got myself the Tab S4 and I'm really happy with it!
•The S pen is awesome to use
•the screen is amazing
•UI and animations are smooth
•Speakers are okayish, could have better bass
•All the apps I need work well with the tab and dont look silly/unoptimised
•Battery backup is nice, although havent timed it yet
•Heaphone Jack!
•Youtube in 1440p!
•Better communiction with my Pixel 2( vs ipad)
•Gaming is smooth(Tested Mortal Kombat X, GTASA, PUBG)
This is quite an underrated tablet TBH, most people see SD835 and 4Gb Ram and trun this down but I think its well worth the price. Samsung has promised pie update in March, lets see. So far so good!

Please check your PM's. Thank you.

still worth it in 2020?

I bought this tablet a few days ago, I have a galaxy tab s2 with snapdragon and linage os and works pretty well for read the form and weight and size display are perfect on tab s2 to read but lacks of batery and do not have pencil. I bought tab s4 for 300 euros with cover keywoard it looks a good deal but I am worried about tab s4 only will have one more update to android 10 and I can see any good rom for it and scene looks dead, so extrange because tab s2 at least still have some good roms. The size and weight of tab s2 is perfect for me and the most concern me is about updates and no scene. The pencil on s4 also is easy to lost it is not magenetic and place on cover is very bad place to keep it save.
Should I return it and buy a s6 litle? similar cpu power as tab s4, better pencil, better weight, thinner. Do you think scene on tab s4 is gonna be better¿ If at least lenage os will be support.
I don't think there will be any real rom support for either tablet. Seems you have to go with the S5e or something like that if you want more custom.
I still use two older Note 10.1 models as this thing is still pretty worthless for me with the horrible stock samsung.

How well does your tab S2 working with day to day usage? I'm thinking of getting one for Netflix and YouTube mainly.

with linage os works pretty well and is very very light and thin, aspect radio 4:3 is just perfect to read but not for video, if you are looking for a multimedia tablet is better 16:9 also I have a lenovo yoga tab 3 plus and for video is really good, good speakers, nice screen is an older model but still works great. Is much more heavy than s2 but the base that it has is amazing seems like useless but its just amazing invent for a multimedia tablet.
I still wondering if return galaxy tab s4, it is ok with keywoard, good screen, nice spen, good batery but it is more heavy than s2 to read it is not the best and without scene, no roms no party in the future.
Should I buy tab s6? I need a tablet to read an keep notes. If s2 had a good batery I also remaining with s2 but batery now is awful when it was new also was awful

I didn't consider the Lenovo yoga tab 3 plus. From a performance point of view, is the Lenovo better in your experience?
Looks like there is a good custom ROM scene for Lenovo yoga tab 3 plus which is great

Performance for multimedia is still good similar to s2 with snapdragon from 2016 with linage os but with better display for video, I use it like small tv with iptv and amazon prime video and is ok is not the fastest tablet and the stand for the tablet is amazing you can put in any position and speakes are very good as well nice for multimedia.

Great excellent device. But the edge is a big to sharp for holding for too long.
Would you know how the edge compares to the S6 or the S4? Is it sharper than the S6? I have both the S4 and the S6. The S6 is definitely easier to hold for me.
I have the Tab S7+. Sharp edges are definitely an issue. If you want to understand how unfortunate this design choice is, imagine the difference between the sharp and the blunt edge of a knife. Such a huge let down
Edit: I am going to try a protective case
I did try a protective case and it did the trick for me. Check here for more info: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-hand-feel-t4142995/post83544737#post83544737
How do I like this device? I find myself satisfied with what this device has to offer: A big high quality screen with enough processing power to make everyday interactions smooth. It comes at a hefty price but since this is now my main computing device (only using PC for very demanding work) the price is justified.
It's a 12.4" Screen. What else. you just gotta love this!
