Unbrick Moto G7 power xt1955-4 - Moto G7 Power Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi!
Can anybody help me to un-brick my rather new Moto G7 power (XT1955-4)?
I tried to install a LineageOS 17.1 custom ROM, but to say the truth I did not really understand what I was doing. I managed to unlock the phone and to install TWRP. Then I tried to get LOS on the phone by running "adb sideload lineage-17.1-xxxx.zip"; this ended with an error message I forget to save (something about cache not found, I think). Best of all, I tried to reboot from TWRP then, and whooops: the phone was hard bricked (no reaction at all to any of the buttons, nothing on the screen).
Since I still can see the phone in EDL mode, I tried to blankflash it as described in various places in this forum. I used the following files
blankflash_ocean_PDOS29.114-134-2.zip
blankflash_sdm632_PDOS29.114-134-9.zip
BlankFlash-MotoG7power-OCEAN-SDM632-PPOS29.114-134-10.rar
but I always end up with the same error message (and yes, I have tried it 1000 times pressing all possible combinations of buttons):

So: Is there anything I can do? I really would hate it to throw away this nice phone!
Many thanks for your help!!!
P.S.: I am sorry if my description of what I did is not very accurate, but I am really a newbie in this business

Did you have the latest security update ? Did u flash the the ab partition zip before flashing the rom

About the update: I am not sure, but I do not think so - I started with my hard bricking activities as soon as I got the phone
And no, I did not flash the ab partition zip before flashing the rom - this was not mentioned in the tutorial I followed.

Yep it is go to tellagran group g7 power discussion group. Everything u need is there

Hi folks! I'm also stuck with a hard bricked Moto G7Power (ocean), same variant as the author.
To tell things in order, I started 6 months ago with my Ocean, which I unlocked and put on Lineage17.1 with MicroG back then. I updated it till the latest 17.1 (I was scared of switching to 18.1 because of the partition changes).
This morning my phone just went into a bootloop (boot animation endless, sometimes going to the PIN screen, then restarting right away).
My phone was still detected normally in adb and fastboot.
I did the following:
1. full backup on SD card via TWRP & copy internal storage to my PC
2. Copied latest Lineage lineage-18.1-20210621-microG-ocean.zip to SD card and tried to flash from TWRP (after system/data/cache wipe) --> failed (ERROR 1: xlDownloadOperationExecutionError)
3. Tried to flash it with a TWRP I booted via fastboot (this is how I had installed Lineage17.1 successfully in first place several months ago) --> same error
4. Tried to sideload it --> hang (damn sideload is not very reliable). This is obviously where things started to really go wrong. As nothing moved anymore, I pulled the cable while the phone was stuck at the first line of flashing (still at 0 percent)
5. I then flashed the latest TWRP version twrp-3.5.2_10-0-ocean
6. Tried to flash stock ROM XT1955-4_OCEAN_RETEU_9.0_PPOS29.114-134-13_cid50 with these instructions (fastboot way) https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-flashing-motorola-firmware.4042039/ --> failed (invalid partition system). From now on I realized I had no more partitions and the bootloader changed to a nearly blank one with changed serial number
7. I followed the advice from the index in order to blank flash with blankflash_from_PDOS29.114-134-2 --> always got the same error (multiple "waiting for firehose", then "Error do package>do recipe...) I did multiple tries with different USB slots, different cable pulls, Power button hold lengths,.... I also tried to blankflash without the SD card (one user reported that helped) --> nothing
I have checked the drivers are correctly installed (Qualcomm 9008 shows up as COM4 when I put the phone in EDL via fastboot oem blankflash ). I also tried LMSA (which didn't recognize the device).
As I don't have a phone for now, I obviously have no more access to the telegram group.
How can I get a blankflash to work in order to recover partitions? If I manage to do that, I feel confident about flashing stock firmware and then Lineage again...
@sd_shadow any ideas?

Thanks a lot! The problem was actually the blankflash I tried (Android 9, while the phone had already been on Android 10).
With the more recent blankflash blankflash_from_QCO30.85-18 I managed to get partitions back and recover a normal bootloader and serial number. Just baseband is still gone...
I have reflashed TWRP 3.5.2 now (so recovery is back) and I'm currently downloading the latest RETEU firmware from lolinet (which I will try to flash via fastboot).
Once that is done, I should be back to stock. Then I can do a full backup, flash copy_ab again and then switch back to Lineage (I'd rather install 18.1 directly) via TWRP, is that right?

So, after flashing TWRP, I flashed the XT1955-4_OCEAN_RETEU_10_QPOS30.52-29-7-6_cid50 stock firmware via Fastboot (bat file mode from Root Junkie's video here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-flashing-motorola-firmware.4042039/ ).
Nevertheless, I still have no baseband and when I try to boot to system, it still bootloops.
On Slot A, I now have RETEU stock ROM, and on the B slot seems to be the rests of my former Lineage17.1 (in any case the custom boot logo appears during boot loop). So I bootloop on both slots.
The device also bootloops when I try to boot recovery. For getting into recovery I must do
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Normally, stock ROM was supposed to "heal" the bootloop thing, wasn't it?
Can anyone help me out on the next steps?
To put it in a nutshell: after flashing stock ROM, I have these symptoms:
1. baseband: <not found> in fastboot getvar all (but IMEI1 is ok)
2. stuck on bootlogo on slot A system (stock)
3. stuck on bootlogo when booting into recovery on slot A
4. Bootloop on slot B (looks like my prior lineage bootlogo)
5. Booting into TWRP recovery from slot B gets stuck on Teamwin startup screen with version number (only fastbooting the TWRP image va PC works)
EDIT: After reflashing stock ROM once again, things miraculously became better: Now I can boot again to stock on slot A
But: I can't flash any recovery nor even boot one via fastboot (hangs on bootlogo). I have activated USB debugging again on the new stock ROM before trying. Device is found in fastboot mode correctly.
fastboot getvar all shows this in the end:
Code:
(bootloader) frp-state: no protection (0)
(bootloader) ro.carrier: reteu2
(bootloader) current-slot: a
(bootloader) running-boot-lun: 0
(bootloader) running-slot: _a
(bootloader) slot-suffixes: _a,_b
(bootloader) slot-count: 2
(bootloader) slot-successful:_a: Yes
(bootloader) slot-successful:_b: No
(bootloader) slot-bootable:_a: Yes
(bootloader) slot-bootable:_b: Yes
(bootloader) slot-retry-count:_a: 6
(bootloader) slot-retry-count:_b: 0
EDIT2: I still can't flash Lineage, I always get Error 28 (kDownloadOperationExecutionError). Booting TWRP from fastboot works, flashing TWRP from this fastbooted TWRP works, but booting into recovery still doesn't work. Any advice to get me further?

Wiped encrypted device - softbricked?

Hello everyone,
usually I was able to solve almost any issue with android devices by myself, simply by doing some searching here on the forums and via google. But this time it seems like that I've screwed things up big time, since I couldn't really find anyone having the same issue as I have.
My device is a Nexus 7 2013 LTE. It's unlocked and was running rooted with a custom ROM before, without any real issues. Since I traveled a lot with it, I was using the encryption as well. After I tried wiping the device, things went south. At first TWRP was unable to decrypt the data (?) partition but that was due some outdated version which I got fixed by installing the most recent version of TWRP (3.0.0.0) via fastboot. Unfortunately The device doesn't boot into the OS anymore but at the same time, I can't wipe any of the existing partitions using the TWRP GUI and I haven't even bothered trying to flash any ROM on the device.
Here are some logs:
Code:
Updateing partition details...
...done
Unable to mount storage
Full SELinux support is present.
Data successfully decrypted, new block devices: '/dev/block/dm-0'

I feel like I messed up the partitions or something but I'm not quite sure if that's actually the case. And even if so, wouldn't know how to fix that. If there is any more information I can provide to make troubleshooting easier, I'll gladly do so.
Any help would be highly appreciated, thank you very much.
All you need is:
run: fastboot format userdata
run: fastboot reboot
wait for the long first OS start

Thanks for your reply!

Rebooted recovery (as suggested in the log) but still, no luck. It still asked me for my encryption password by the way so I'm assuming that formatting data did not work.

No worries at all. We could use mke2fs but CWM can do it faster.
download CWM to your folder with fastboot app
boot N7 in fastboot mode
run: fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-flo.img
in CWM select mount and storage
do format /data and format /data/media
This should fix it :good:
Note - we're not flashing new recovery, CWM is only temporarily booted

This should fix it :good:
Note - we're not flashing new recovery, CWM is only temporarily booted

Thanks again for your continuous support, I really appreciate that.
I gave CWM a go and did the steps you posted. This time there was no error message, however, when I booted back into TWRP, it still asked me for the encryption password.

This is getting serious. Let's check now fastboot format userdata - still with errors?
Then please extract "recovery.img" file from your preferred stock factory image or just download this LMY48T
Run fastboot boot recovery.img and do factory reset from it.
Well, how did it go?
I checked TWRP source code and noticed a bug in the Wipe_Encryption() function:
partition.cpp
Code:
} else {
string Command = "flash_image " + Crypto_Key_Location + " /dev/zero";
TWFunc::Exec_Cmd(Command);
}
"flash_image" does not work with "/dev/zero", it insists on a real image file. We can fix it manually from adb shell.
I'm currentyl trying the first thing (fastboot format userdata) and it's still going, since like two hours. I'm gonna leave it running for the night, just to make sure. If that won't work I'm gonna give the stock recovery a go tomorrow.

It's OK, just more clean up to do.
Please boot TWRP and run these commands in the following order:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/metadata of=/md
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc of=/mc
adb shell tar cvzf mm.tgz md mc tmp/recovery.log
adb pull mm.tgz mm.tgz
You will find mm.tgz in your adb app folder, attach it to your next post.
Next adb reboot bootloader
Wait and run: fastboot format cache
I need to see the mm.tgz file before the next step. In the meantime you could try stock recovery reset again but this time use LMY48T from my earlier link.
Instead of ADB you could use a scripted zip run from USB OTG. Let me know if you prefer this option and I'll prepare it for you.
Sorry for the late response, I had little free time to look into this.
For some reason, it doesn't boot int TWRP anymore. I tried to "fastboot boot twrp-3.0.0-0-deb.img" but it gets stuck and never goes past the loading screen. Bootloader still works but neither flashing nor booting a recovery was any successful.
Please extract 'recovery.img' from a stock factory image and check if fastboot boot recovery.img works. Download and try twrp-2.8.6.0 because the newer versions are unreliable for me too. What are the error messages when you are flashing? Did you flash a stock image?
I think I got the same issue... solved it by install a factory image from here.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#instructions
After that I wiped data and cache via stock recovery. Worked for me
Okay I've tried the following:
Booting twrp-2.8.6.0 via fastboot boot -> works
Booting stock recovery via fastboot boot -> works
However, trying to flash the stock recovery (just like any other recovery) failed.
Code:
sending 'recovery' (8188 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.281s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: flash write failure)
finished. total time: 90.059s
After that I tried to use the dd commands you posted prior.
Code:
C:\>adb shell dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/metadata of=/md
dd: /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/metadata: I/O error
C:\>adb shell dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc of=/mc
dd: /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc: I/O error
Finally I tried to flash the stock image using the flash-all.bat:

It's time to have a look at your hardware log:
boot TWRP
connect PC
run: adb shell dmesg > dmesg
find 'dmesg' file in your adb folder
attach it here or upload to http://pastebin.com

XT1789-01 HS-USB QLoader 9008?

Just got a XT1789-01 from a friend whos daughters phone just abruptly stopped working. No signs of life, except when plugged in to a computer I see the QLoader 9008 driver load. I tried some blank flash that says to bring the booloader back but it did nothing but say Generic Error. The tool does seem to detect the phone though.
Any ideas? The girl that uses this phone is like 10 so I know its not been tampered with software wise to cause this.
Motorola devices are not my cup of tea when it comes to flashing.
Thanks!

At the bottom of the post is a link for qualcomm diag drivers, signed for windows.
Attached is the unbrick.zip, use the drivers mentioned above though. Basically unplug your phone and install the drivers, reboot pc and plug in, wait for the drivers to recognize and settle, then blankflash. Afterwards you'll be in a clean bootloader. Flash the latest firmware for your variant. This thread has instructions and links for flashing firmwares, just make sure it's for your variant. You can also try using the lmsa tool mentioned in post #275 to flash the firmware needed.

I've only had to use that once and I didn't run into problems. Double check that the right driver is installed in your device manager, make sure you're running admin prompt (best from the folder so the path is all set). Try executing the command then plug in your phone. Make sure you're using a 2.0 usb port off the mobo and not a hub or 3+ port. Outside of those suggestions I can't help, I don't know the error correlation. I know some had issues getting to to go, but ultimately it was "things just clicked and worked this time" scenario.
The post where you got the drivers has links to unbricking guides, check those if needed.

Yeah drivers are correct, laptop and desktop both usb 2.0 and 3.0 has been tried. Different usb cables, I’m assuming something has went wrong with this phone. As it’s never been tampered with. So I’ll give it a few more goes before giving up on it.

I was experiencing this exact same issue when running the blankflash. I ran it several times only to receive the same error over and over.
Did you put your device into EDL Mode or did it happen after a bad flash?
Do you know if your bootloader is still intact? Do you know how to exit EDL Mode to get back to the bootloader?
Here is what you do...
Since you are in EDL Mode trying to run the blankflash, get everything set up like you are about to run the blankflash again. Connect your device and verify it is connected in the Device Manager. Press and Hold Volume Down + Power and double-click the file to run the blankflash. Continue holding the Volume Down + Power while attempting to run the blankflash and if your bootloader is still intact this will take you back into the bootloader. It may take a few attempts to get back. Just keep holding the Volume Down + Power and double clicking the blankflash file until it takes you back to the bootloader.
Now, this is assuming that your bootloader is still intact. If it is and you can get back to the bootloader then you can run a flash-all for your device that matches the software you were running and get your device back to an operational state. Good luck.

Follow this guide it has worked for many. Make sure you read it all first, and make sure your phone is in edl mode. Your phone will have a blank screen but you'll see HS-USB QLoader 9008 in your device manager when connected to your pc.

Make sure you have the drivers installed, use a 2.0 usb port off the mobo. It can be finicky, so check your cable, check your drivers, use another port. It'll work. Some have had luck by unplugging the phone, starting the script, holding vol dwn, and replugging the phone. It can be finicky, just try it again.
I try more and more, but still not work.
I try: win vista x32, win 8.1 x64, win 10 x 64,
two cables, stock and other,
drivers qualcomm x32 and x64,
desktop and notebook, other port.
I try:

Idk if anyone has been successful using the oreo blankflash, the one I linked to has been used successfully many times, so use that one. Verify that the proper driver is assigned to the phone in your device manager, and make sure you're using an administrator cmd prompt. Might try uninstalling the drivers, reboot pc, reinstall drivers, reboot pc, plug in the phone and let everything recognize and settle, verify drivers in device manager, open admin prompt and go for it with the ndx (nougat) blankflash.
I reinstalled the driver, rebooted and tried to execute the command under the administrator, the log changed a little, but still unsuccessfully

Blankflash did not work because of the Motorola_Mobile_Drivers_v6.4.0 drivers, I don’t know how they interfere, but because of them there were errors reading the device and the blankflash did not work.
I worked on my body with blankflash_from_NDX26.183-15_17 - and this is a Verizon bout campaign, judging by the information in the bootloader.
Important all have brick: uninstall Motorola_Mobile_Drivers, before you start blankflash!
Don't wory Mark. I think I have the same gold retcn version of 1789-05. I tried flash some versions of LOS 15 and 16, always ends with Qualcomm mode. For me works blankflash from nougat, but only when battery is less than 10%. When my phone is fully charged, when I try blankflash the phone reconnect to pc. Take me a few evenings to figure it out. Works with Motorola drivers and Qualcomm certificate driver installed in the same time.
Now I have stock EU 8.0 and radio from retcn.
Works everything except Smart lock.
Good luck.

thanks this method heleped me
you need a blank flash updated for your bootloader, theres at least 5 updates on oreo (OTA UPDATES), then you will need the latest blankflash compatible, maybe the Oreo blank flash that you found here is older than your bricked bootloader. (Sorry for my bad english)

This is a bit of an old post, and I assume those issues are resolved, not sure who you're addressing. As far as oreo blankflash, there is one but as far as I know no one has had success with it. The one that I post frequently uses nougat believe it or not, but it has worked many many times even on oreo and there is no reason to mess with what works. Especially when it comes to blankflashing, it's usually your last chance to resolve the problem.

To blankflash Oreo , you need oreo blankflash, but the last version. There is a oreo (soak test) but not the official stock. But recently someone post the final blankflash for the latest OTA.

You're mistaken. I won't argue the point, by all means do what you will.

Help! Moto Z2 Force xt1789-06 bricked

I tried to root my phone some time ago. In the middle of the process somewhere the screen went black and nothing worked anymore, maybe I followed the wrong Thread for this.
I could connect to Qualcom and tried all blank-flashes.bat I've found. All ended up with errors e. g.

Anyone any ideas what the problem is? It's a german unbranded model.
In your device manager does your Z2 Force show up as Qualcomm 9008?
Have you tried switching USB cables?
Have you tried switching USB ports on your PC?
Is your bootloader unlocked? Did you get the unlock code from Moto?
When you were attempting to root your device, did you fastboot boot TWRP to flash the installer zip?

Anyone any ideas what the problem is? It's a german unbranded model.
In your device manager does your Z2 Force show up as Qualcomm 9008?
Have you tried switching USB cables?
Have you tried switching USB ports on your PC?
Is your bootloader unlocked? Did you get the unlock code from Moto?
When you were attempting to root your device, did you fastboot boot TWRP to flash the installer zip?

Hello,
thanks for you answer.
I tried from different PCs Windows and Linux, I think I also tried different cables on the different machines. Not sure, maybe I should try another cable. But I have two. Not sure, if I used only one or two.
I always had "Sahara" errors... not all that long as the one above.
And yes I had the code from Motorola and the bootloader was unlocked properly. I had also TWRP installed and extracted one of the final ZIPs on the Motorola..
It's been Months ago, so I don't remember exactly, which it was.

Exactly. Do you also think it's an USB problem, altough the phone is recognized?

If you are using USB 3.0, that's your problem. I had the same problem too, even if I could "fastboot devices" successfully. Besides that command, I couldn't do basically any flashing...

Thank you both for your answers.
I found the above thread before and followed it.
I tried 2 different machines. One new Linux Machine Centos 7 and an older Windows 7 Machine, on *all* USB Ports (some USB 3, some USB 2) with 2 different OEM Cables from the original Z2 Kit.
The result is always the same. An error. Last result is from Linux machine:

Maybe I've got a general problem, I didn't see?
1. I download the ZIP from the mentioned thread blankflash_from_NDX26.183-15_17.zip
2. I extract it and go to the directory
3. I start the blank-flash.sh or blank-flash.bat (without any options)
4. I connect my phone. On windows it ist at once recognized an the blankflash starts... on linux it takes some tries but it is on most ports properly recognized then the procedure starts (see above)
5. I'm stuck in various errors.
Any help would be appreciated.
I've never ran it on linux, just win7. I would suggest uninstalling all moto and qualcomm drivers. Reboot your pc. Install both drivers again and reboot. Connect your phone and give it time to recognize your device, install, and settle. Run the blankflash.bat as an admin. If that doesn't work, unplug the phone, start blankflash, hold vol dwn and replug and wait for the process to start. If no luck still, move to another usb port and try again. Some people have had only one usb port that would work for them, some had to use a whole other machine. This phone is *****y about ports.

You both were right. Seemed to be a connection problem, running the DOS-prompt as Administrator did the trick. Thank you for your patience.
So meanwhile my Z2 Force shows a booting screen again.
----------------------------------
Update:
Meanwhile I installed Lineage OS Recovery and tried to flash latest Version (arm64) lineage-16.0-20190923-nightly-nash-signed.zip
Result: After ADB sideloading the zip, the phone is bricked again.
Same using TWRP. Another hint?
Thank you and best regards!
I got the same bricked issue. Have tried both nougat and oreo blankflashes, changing PC,changing cables, changing ports and all was failed. I attached logs from both blankflashes.
Just flash pie -19 version on both slots, erase modemst 1 and 2 and boot one time to official Pie. Here it has worked, but I don't know why. Maybe it's needed first boot Pie, then erase modemst 1 and 2 again and then boot again to Pie. I would say you have to test it out. That is, what I can say to help. Hope it helps.

I installed the blankflash from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77623934&postcount=5
Running the DOS-Prompt as Administrator
Start-Button -> type "cmd" then press Strg+Shift+Enter
did the trick, after that the script works fine.
Since I got various Errors from all the same problem, I think it is mostly USB Connection or a permission problem.

I have tried running as administrator on both of my PCs. Using different cable and I even have used Xiaomi deep flash cable which I used to use to boot edl on Xiaomi devices. Nothing worked. I've switched to Realme 3 Pro. But, I still keep my Z2 Force and I'm waiting for a method to revive it.

Help with Hard Brick Z2 Force (XT1789-04 AT&T) Is Internal Memory Fried?

Hi, looking for a kind soul who can provide me with some insight or direction.
My Phone:
Moto Z2 Force XT1789-04 AT&T
Carrier unlocked with unlock code from AT&T to use T-Mobile SIM
Updated to either Build number: OCXS27.109-47-20 or Build number: OCXS27.109-47-23 using LMSA (not OTA)
Official build, never tried to root it
My Circumstance:
I was using fingerprint unlock and my login attempts were failing.
In a brief moment of frustration, and stupidity, I repeatedly retried FP unlock (probably 10+ times)
Display went dim and phone became unresponsive, and ultimately turned into a brick with no way to power on; nothing displayed when plugged in to charge.
My Attempts to Fix:
After trying various button reset options with no success, I plugged my phone into my PC and saw QUSB_BULK
Further searching led me to https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77623934&postcount=5 (thanks 41rw4lk)
I installed the Qualcomm driver and got Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 to show up in Device Manager.
I tried blank-flash.bat using blankflash_from_NDX26.183-15_17 (again, thanks, 41rw4lk)
Here is the output from the batch command:

So, best as I can decipher, the blank-flash is failing because it cannot create a filesystem on the internal memory.
I read something about A/B slots, but I'm starting to lose my way.
Am I done for?
Thanks for looking. Truly appreciate the folks in this community.
Wait! Am I using a Nougat blank-flash? Do I need an Oreo blank-flash? Is there one available for the XT1789-04?

The Nougat blankflash is fine. The phone shipped with a Nougat pbl and the way I understand it is that can't be modified or upgraded, it can be reflashed with the same, but that's it. Don't quote me on that though. As for an Oreo blankflash, there is one, but I've never heard any success stories from it and Nougat has always done the trick.
I've seen that error before, it is speculated that maybe the storage is failing, but I don't know if anyone has ever been able to say 'yes, your storage is no good and that's why you get this error' etc. It maybe very well be the case and I'm not sure if those who have faced that error have been able to recover.
What version of windows are you running? Have you tried running as an admin, using different ports?
If you are on Win10 have you tried going old school and disabling integrity checks and turning test signing on? Win10 isn't very friendly when it comes to our phone, we recommend Win7 and command prompt, not powershell. So if you're using Win10 and haven't done the above, it's worth a shot.

Previously on Win10 as Admin from CMD window.
Also just tried on Win7, per suggestion, with the same results.
I used 3 different USB2 ports on the PC, iterated through 3 different USB-C cables.
I found the --debug=2 flag for qboot.exe and started digging through the output. Now it's got me wondering:
1) Why is it specifying UFS instead of eMMC? Phonemore.com specs says it's UFS 2.1
2) It appears to be skipping storage initialization because "target is secure." Is blankflash failing b/c my bootloader was not unlocked before it bricked?
3) Should I look into using QFIL to manually configure the reinitialization of the file system, whether UFS or eMMC?

I believe the pbl is loaded before bootloader lock is detected, hence the reason it was able to exploit and unlock booloaders. Obviously we all can agree that something is failing when it comes to initializing the UFS storage it needs to write to. Whether it is corrupted, dead, or something else... I'm not knowledgeable enough to answer that. You might explore around with QFIL since it has an option in settings to select storage type, emmc or ufs. What you do from here on out is all you. I'd make sure you have your drivers installed and do only what is necessary to get back to a bootloader where you can flash a clean stock firmware. Keep us posted with your results and good luck.
