1 you need to convert to international version follow this thread By AnonymousTipster ( great thanks ) (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/t-mobile-6t-to-international-t3888307 )
2 unlock bootloader
3 type this commands
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot reboot
thats all
you can also backup modemst1 and modemst2 files before this steps
you won't loose imei or have some problem phone works without any problem just tested

Hi,
I am from Oman. I bought Samsung S20 T-Mobile/Unlocked version G981U from ebay which was confirmed by seller that it will work overseas and got delivered via shopandship by aramex.
Later found that it is T-mobile locked and has bad ESN. So my friend suggested to use unlock service from ebay to unlock so that I can use worldwide.
I bought unlock service, seller told to pay direct to PayPal and connected to my PC using team viewer. He worked for more than 3 hours and he couldn't do it. He refunded. Then I found IMEI is empty! BASEBAND UNKNOWN!.
He said it is not his mistake. IMEI is bad, so unlock was not successful.
Initially I sent him IMEI. But still he doesn't accept.
Can someone please help me to recover imei?

Why not file a case that you were sold something that wasn't described properly?
@vickytheboss Vicky, just for information. I've moved your post from the OnePlus 6T device forum to here, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Q&A as your issue and question was not really related to OnePlus. I hope you get support and find a solution here.
Stay safe and stay healthy.

This method has been sent to me by android235, I can not personally attest that it is working so please if you do that, make sure you have a backup or odin to reinstall your phone
After root, use a file explorer.
I use the ES File Explorer downloaded from the market:
- Launch it
- Goto "Settings> File Settings". Be sure that Show hidden files is checked
- Also be sure is checked "Settings > Root Explorer"
- In "Settings > Home directory" write "/" (without the quotes)
explore the "efs" folder in the root
- move the following files in a backup folder somewhere to your internal SD card (you will need them if you want to restore later to original phone setup) : .nv_core.bak, .nv_core.bak.md5, .nv_data.bak, .nv_data.bak.md5, nv_data.bin, nv_data.bin.md5. Moving them they will be deleted from the efs folder (that's ok).
Reboot.
Now you will have it unlocked but with the generic IMEI.
Peace out.

Any way to restore the IMEI afterwards? Or is the simlock check based on the IMEI?

I suppose the files you saved are to restore if needed, for the rest I don't know as like I said did NOT try myself
Nah. I meant whether it is possible to restore IMEI while still having unlock. If I restore the files, the lock should be back. (My glide is unlocked, but thats not the point)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using XDA
I'd rather spend 25$ for an unlock key on Americanunlocker.com
(worked great for me)
In fact, I have tried to hack the nv_data.bin but seems that it is not the same as galaxy SII and galaxy S.
Although you will get unlocked (generic IMEI) when removed those files,
I highly recommand that you have to backup them in a very safe place. Otherwise if you encounter any problems, you have to sent back to AT&T / Rogers.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using XDA
The method will work.. i had tested it earlier.. a generic imei will be assigned..
however some operators do not accept generic IMEI..

This method is perfect ! My phone accept the Free Mobile's SIM card and is recognized by Orange and Free Mobile's networks.
(It connects too on the two another french carriers when theses networks are too low, I don't know why and if the reason is the AT&T ROM or the unlock method. By the way, although I am connected I can't do anything.)
i don't like having a genric IMEI. will wait for anther method or just pay for an unlock key (when i get my device ofcurse )
What do you mean by generic IMEI? Is it all 0s? Does this mean that it will no longer be detected as a smartphone?
I just tried this method and it did work for me thank u
one Q is there any way to fix genric IMEI and keep unlock .
Edit: I restore my files from a back up and relock the phone ..went to ebay bought unlock code for about 8 dollars ..Done

I've done the same thing with another website -more expensive x-( (Fastgsm.com), although it worked.
The only problem though is that every now and then the phone asks me again for the network unlock code. This has forced me to carry a text message with the info on the phone. So far it has asked me 3 times the unlock code. Every time I input the same code received, every time it accepts it and gets unlocked. But I think this is strange, this is the first phone I had that this happens.

Captivate Glide (Rogers version I927R).
I'm very interested in this thread since i'm french, and about to buy a phone in the US to use it here, in France.
If i understand well, the trick for unlocking it by file deletion is a bad idea since generic IMEI are not too well accepted on french networks, and when you buy an unlock code, it keeps prompting you sometimes.
My other option is the myTouch 4G Slide, so i'd probably better go for it

If it shows as stolen it means that the IMEI has been black listed by a carrier, being usable now would depend on what carrier you are using (all US carriers use the blacklist database to check the IMEI number). Unlocking your device has nothing to do with the "stolen" issue as showing as stolen means that someone has reported that device (that IMEI number) as stolen to their carrier. Once a device has been blacklisted there is really nothing you can do legally.
Just a quick warning, if you are thinking of buying a used phone, eBay or anywhere else, a LOT of the phones are either stolen or are still under contract (not paid for), so let the buyer beware because if the phone is blacklisted you just bought an expensive paperweight

Tried twice flashing it using ODIN but no use!. IMEI is empty. I read in some forums that IMEI can be repaired only if BASEBAND is known but mine showing unknown!.
Is there any other option?. I am not familiar with flashing so my friend did it using teamviewer.

I am trying to unlock the bootloader on my unlocked T-Mobile N100. When I went to the OnePlus website to enter my info (serial #, imei, unlock code), it keeps telling me to provide a valid imei. I bought the phone of a guy on offer up app and it works fine with my AT&T sim, but it keeps giving me that message. I've tried contacting OnePlus but they said they needed an invoice to further investigate the issue which all I have are the screenshots of the original post and the conversation we had about meeting up (which I submitted to them). Has anyone else had this issue? I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out.
The OP8T also had this bug with the unlock website for the first few month of the phone release. Try contacting OP and see if they are aware of the bug.
Hi, friend, can u tell me how did u unlock this phone? Is there any free ways?
Hello
I bought a used s9 a few months back. It had dual sim. In "about phone" it said G960F and was on android 9. A few days ago, I wanted to flash android 10 so I downloaded firmware for G960F, booted my phone in download mode and SURPRISE. The whole thing was in Korean and of course it was a G960N model. So I downloaded firmware for G960N this time and flashed it. Everything went perfect but when the phone booted up, It had no sim service.
I've tried everything I've found on the forums so far related to emergency calls only or no sim service.
Any kind of help would be appreciated. I have no sim service for 5 days now.
Things I've tried so far:
Flashing my phone again with android 9 stock firmware, which I can't do anymore as I've updated the bootloader lol.
Flashing custom roms
Changing csc from SKC to KOO
Flashing OXM CSC as I live in Pakistan
Flashing different modems and basebands
Nothing worked
Try flashing back a G960F android 10 firmware.

Done all of that. No luck
OK, let's go back to beginning: you've bought the used phone. 960F never was (as factory leaving) dual sim phone.
so, let's start from the beginning:
contact the seller and ask what the hell have you bought (if it was any variant of the S9 at all.. somehow I doubt it).
2nd: write down the IMEI and serial number, and check with Samsung if this configuration ever existed (if not, what I suppose, the IMEI/sn info about the REAL model can give you a hint what have you bought).
Having the above info in hands, find the "service firmware", 5 files ROM for your device and try to flash it.
If it will not work still, I'm afraid you have two options:
1. check IMEI against stolen devices with your carrier.
2. Go to Samsung service asking for help.

Well mostly it isn't a fake mediatek phone as it will not even have a download mode.
Probably he bought a shi**ily refurbished phone with it's internals mixed from multiple versions of the s9, in the best case.(a Frankenstein variant of the S9)

I'm going to solve this mystery for both of you. The phone he bought is indeed an S9. Here in Pakistan, 'software' guys in shops can convert these to dual sim models with some z3x and Chimera f*kery.
As for why his phone isn't working - it is because the phone had a tampered IMEI to bypass local custom charges levied on all imported phones (insane charges, doubles the price of these kinda phones). Once he flashed a new image on his phone, his IMEI status would have become NG instead of OK, which prevents the phone from accessing any networks.
Solution is to visit the same 'software' guys, ask them to 'patch' the phone. It is a 5 minute process, requires root (which these phones already have).
