It seems like my mobile carrier and Samsung doesn't allow rooting, however i do have something called reklamationstjänsten which gives me a possibility to return the product in two months if it doesn't work properly. So the only question i have is that should i root my new Samsung s20 now or should i wait?

I'm opting to wait , i realise I want to root as :
- phone has 400apps (? im old school & don't use bixby or Samsung pay , or 85% of the bloatware) & want to remove many , however it appears that Samsung have allowed the removal of many (apart from Facebook / nsa ?)
- i really appreciate viper4android (I'm a musician & music lover / audiophile) but I use PowerAmp (best music app period with transferable purchase - don't use the G-Play variant) & the options are plentiful & works well with DolbyAtmosphere
- Titanium Backup & TWRP (not avaliable yet) are useful for obvious reasons.
- I also cannot stand adverts (i recognise developers need financial support & reward) for apps like PayPal (they make money through my usage why should I see the irritating adds) & use an app that I cannot mention as its banned on here because of what you can do with it , however my phone is NOT rooted so I cannot entertain such actions , however I can manipulate the file to remove adds from certain apps.
Encompassing this , the rooting procedure is longwinded when firmware updates are released , you essentially have to reflash the firmware & go through the process of setting up the phone again , Titanium backup can only do so much , its the OS settings that need to redone. CANNOT BE BOTHERED.
The phone is new & many updates will be released.
All food for thought

When you install the app it warns you that tablets are not supported. Hope that won't cause functionality issues. Probably just a ppi thing.
Shame you can only have one account per device. They should open this up so you can sync your account across multiple devices.

1- clear ALL data from WhatsApp on your tablet (including the apk itself at the end)
2- install DataSync on both your phone and your tablet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta)
3- re-install WhatsApp on your tablet and DON'T open it just yet
4- using DataSync, transfer your phone's WhatsApp data to your tablet (using whatever method you prefer) [tutorials on how to do that can be found on Google, look them up if you need to]
5- open WhatsApp on your tablet and notice how it doesn't ask you to re-activate your account on the device (for all the app knows, it's the same device)
I've done it like this on all my devices and i forgot about re-activating the account on each device, every single time I've used WhatsApp on either of them ^_^
PS- the conversations don't get synced on all devices unless all of them are turned on at the time of the conversations, but at least you don't have to keep activating and re-activating the freaking thing every single time you use it

Well, i haven't had to repeat the process yet and I've updated the app twice now, so I'm guessing as long as the data is there and it's an update, it doesn't affect anything, but we all know how developers can do things one way now and then change their minds... so for now, you're safe.

Its because DT ignite has updates installed. Click yes and it will put the "factory" non-updated version back on the phone. Then it will allow u to disable as normal.

DT ignite is a cancer waiting to spread. Forcing apps to install onto the device that has almost half its storage already taken by bloat. Haven't seen any apps besides the beam software install without my permission, had to install Nextradio manually ( which has annoying ads ). DT Ignite could one day install an app that can compromise your phones security due to programming flaws. All quickrooter exploits have been patched, however if it feels like a Trojan it is a Trojan
Just updated my VZ Galaxy S6 edge plus 64gb and this Cancerous AIDS is in that update as well. Before my eyes I had apps appearing like magic installing themselves one by one.
This is worse than most phones that have crap in their root preinstall folder that show up after every restart
Haven't had anything wacky installed, it's even installing an updated Instagram not from the Google play store

Moving from rooted phone to Note 7, best workarounds?

Greetings everyone, I'm looking for some advice. For the past 6 years I've had only daily driver phones that were rooted and boot unlocked. On Friday that'll change when my Note 7 arrives, it was simply too compelling a phone to pass up. BUT, the two things I'm sure I'll miss are 1) full device (and individual app) backup using TWRP + Titanium Backup, and, 2) whole device ad blocking using AdAway. Are there any truly useful apps/solutions/workarounds to accomplish those things on a stock Samsung phone?
Same here, coming from sony(2011), nexus and htc, rooting and bl unlocking has been my first interactions with my phone. But like you I won't be doing that for samsung pay.
1. Titanium backup (or similar) might have some limited functionality. I'm yet to see if I'd have any luck with adb and a computer backup.
2. So far I found Adguard to provide the closest service. But then again, it wont be the same as adaway.
I've already stopped rooting my phone for over 5 years already
I, for one, have not missed root much primarily since I've seen a friend fall victim to a malicious app that was granted root access. Truthfully, its quite terrifying about all the things a root app has access to.
Anyway, to answer your questions:
1. This one, try Helium by ClockworkMod. I trust you've recognized the Developer name
Helium is touted as a non-root app that will backup apps along with their app data.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
2. For non-root system-wide ad blocking, I believe the only method right now is to use an app like AdClear or AdGuard.
Both of these services creates a local VPN on your device to detect and filter any ad traffic.
I have yet to try AdGuard because I've had very good results with AdClear.
Both of these can be found on XDA.
Both of these aren't exactly the same as what you're used to, but then again, you wanted workarounds.
I've made a quick search and Helium appears to work great with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, which should mean the probability of it working well for Note7 is also high.
If you have a spare non-root phone, feel free to give these both a try and see if they're satisfactory alternatives for your needs.
Samsung browser supports adblocking https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.crystalapp.crystal maybe there is some other apps to for just browser? If u want apps to block ads you will need a better app like AdClear that is free or even get the AdGuard pay for cheap:
AdGuard works without root on both WiFi and mobile data. It's not free but if you choose to pay in Russian rubles a lifetime license costs around 4$. Works like a charm and gets regularly updates. It blocks ad's everywhere and not just in the browser. Only ad's in the YouTube app are currently not blocked but they are working on a workaround. https://m.adguard.com/en/purchase.html?currencyId=1#1/36500/MOBILE

I was about to recommend adguard but I've never heard of adClear. It's actually much better. As for helium, I think it's pretty neat except it doesn't backup system app info.
best advice for really disabling apps (better than the disable option in settings) is package disabler pro.

Cool, I'll try it. I was gonna ask about package disabler.
I bought the Note Edge a couple years back when the Note 4 came out.. coming from a T-Mobile rooted Note 3 it was rough because I bought a T-Mobile version and the guy sent me an AT&T unlocked off Ebay... so though it was on lock the TMobile the bootloader was locked and I could not root. I hated every minute with that phone so I only had it for 3 weeks. I ended up selling it taking $100 loss to read by an authentic T-Mobile version. Not until then was I happy. I just read that the LG G5 at T-Mobile is now locking their bootloaders! I wish Samsung would put some development time in and make an unlocker for those of us that want it if not I'm just going to return my phone take the $50 loss that comes with it for the restocking fee. Then by an international version which I've already seen can obtain root.

1. Adguard (I've found it to be the best over the other VPN Ad Blockers) Block's everything.

3 For backups there are few that all do the same thing like many poster have said.

For me the reason is it trips knox for which you will lose samsung pay forever.
I have to admit, I'm genuinely curious as to why you think Samsung Pay is a killer feature. If you don't mind my asking, what country are you in, and why don't cards work for you?
It would also get rid of the Secure Folder feature since that is Knox dependent too.
Although I've only gotten the Note7 for a day, that Secure Folder has already become indispensable.
Even if I haven't stopped rooting for years, I believe I would still sacrifice root any day to keep that Secure Folder feature.
Not sure if there's a root alternative to the Secure Folder's features or if it'll one day be possible, but rooting exposes too much security risks anyway. If I was rooted, I wouldn't trust the Secure Folder as much as I would have while unrooted.
Secure Folder is a bit more understandable, though I have exactly the opposite reaction to you -- I consider an unrooted phone an incredible security risk, as I have absolutely no control over its internals, and I don't trust the Secure Folder because it appears to be insecure by design (allows biometric unlock). Losing the ability to restore older versions of apps, freeze preinstalled apps, modify the hosts file (for domain blocking), or run a firewall that can't be bypassed is kind of a dealbreaker to me.
I can at least understand people who feel otherwise, though. The Samsung Pay bit was what made me stop and ask, because it's the first time I've ever seen someone who actually thought it was valuable, and I was really curious about why.
Hey!
I've been using my note 3 since it's official release and i'm wondering if you guys have a workaround of Youtube Adaway for non rooted devices !

One other question regarding the chinese version. I guess the one I bought off aliexpress has already been set up for play store but it looks like there are a lot of features missing. Like when I'm setting up the phone there isn't an option to restore most things like apps and other stuff from my old android (Samsung S6). Looks like only my contacts were restored. So I guess my question is, is there something I'm missing or is this only since this is the chinese version? If the latter is true, can I change the firmware and everything will be alright? I've read somewhere that you can change the firmware by paying a third party (not sure how much or if it even worth it).

There doesn't seem to be a "phone clone" option anywhere in settings-system or anywhere else. So I guess if I really want to make it "global" I have to check out funky Huawei. Thank for the reply though

Chinese or global version.
I just got my V20 two days ago and so far I am pleasently surprised. However I ordered the chinese version since it was much cheaper for me. Apart from a minor issue copying everything of my previous phone most things are working as they should. There are a few programs like "find my phone" that apparently don't work in my region(Europe). So here is my question, does anyone know if I'm missing out a lot of options/capabilities? I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to rebrand the phone to the global version. Also can someone that has the global version check if the Icelandic language is an option as the system language on the phone? It's not on the chinese one.
Thanks

Except Google services most of the major features are same on both variants.
If you want to rebrand I suggest you to wait for few days as some one will find a free method instead of paying methods.

For some reason the clone option wasn't available but after I found the original app from Huawei and after install it is now showing as an option as well under settings/system. Everything is working now thanks :good:
Anyone know what the random text around my lock screen clock is? Just got the V20 yesterday, and their official support forums in English are dead
There also seem to be far less options available in the phone settings than there should be (I'm not using simple mode) anyone know how to restore all the settings, or am I just being a tit?

Package Disabler Pro + (Samsung)

Has anyone used this app on their NOTE 10 to disable bloatware?
Really no need for apps like this when you can disable anything via adb without root.

Can't picture the use case, but no, need a PC to enable/disable.
I had to go to a different app CCSWE in app store.
The work note 10 plus ccswe app manger :good:
Anyone plz let me know what to disable for security updates and things of that nature. Thanks
Package disabler pro works for me on my note 10. It's not available in the play store and hasnt been for some time. I purchased it directly from the dev site. Believe its 3.00 usd. Just installed it today and it works perfectly, even after the new software update
Devs behind Package Disabler Pro are scam artists. The apps work, but they are always deleting them then releasing a new version a few weeks later. Usually after a new phone comes out.
They've probably done this 5-6 times since I got the my first app from them. I asked them about giving me a license since I already paid, and they basically told me it's Samsung's fault it gets removed and I have to pay again to make up for the trouble.
Ha! No thanks.

Wait, so you need a PC in order to disable or enable an app through adb but yet you can't picture a use case for apps like package disabler pro?
What about apps you don't use often? Isn't it better to disable them until you need to use them so android don't have them running in the background for no reason?
So what if you're using a different launcher than the stock launcher wouldn't it make sense to disable stock launcher until you need it?
I can go on but the best part is that you don't need a PC to do it.

I don't think you even need package disabler for that, you can just go into developer options and disable auto update from there. Or in package disabler in system apps you should see one that is called "update" or something like that.

That's good to hear I bought it from the play store, not sure why I didn't just buy it from their website since Google or Samsung can't block that one.

Actually it's Samsung that requests that Google block the app in the playstore. They plainly tell you to buy it from their website because that way Samsung or Google can't block it. So instead of paying 5-6 times why didn't just buy it from their website once?

No need to get defensive. It is better to disable so android isn't running them in the background, I just can't think of an app I'd ever need to enable/disable on the fly. Certainly not the stock launcher, that can stay permanently disabled.

I guess you can't read...I only paid for it once, I said they've re-added it 5-6 times since I purchased it. I asked them for a license since I already paid for it once and they told me I had to rebuy it because of the trouble Samsung causes them.
If you read reviews about them, they are notorious for doing what I said. Not once did they ever tell me I could get the app directly from them by the way, it's always been to rebuy it from the app store. They don't list a website on the play store and the email address is where they told me to keep rebuying it in the play store
Not to mention, they always name it the same thing. I can't for a minute believe that google keeps allowing them to re-upload the app with the same name over and over again if Samsung is getting it removed. lol.
yes, let us just keep covering for shady companies who find a way to force additional sales of their product through "forced" rebuys.
Thanks that what I did. just to be safe I wanna disable the packages

Not defensive/aggressive in the slightest. It's just that I use it all the time and I disable pretty much every app I'm not currently using as in every app gets disabled until I need it, with a few exceptions. Android/Google/Samsung services are not killing my battery in the background. But to each his own.

Well apparently I can't read. But the first time Samsung disable their app and I contacted them they directed me to their website where I could get a proper version that won't get disabled.
Well who knows maybe they are crooks like you've said. But then it begs the question, how come the version on their website doesn't get disabled like the one on the play store?

So you are saying they also made you pay twice? I still wouldn't be happy with that. I paid for the license, it's not my fault Samsung got their app removed. I'd have to dig, but I have the emails where they told me I had to pay again because of Samsung causing them trouble. They could easily issue a code to let me claim the license I already paid for.
I don't think they really want website sales, but will take them as a last ditch effort. Can't claim Samsung made you delete it off your own website.
If they wanted the sales on their website, then they would have their website listed on google play. Then someone like me who searches for the app like today, where it doesn't exist again, could look at one of their other apps and find my way to buy it.
For what it's worth, they do the same thing with the LG version of the app. They delete it at least once a year then release it again. Not sure what excuse they use on that one.
Edit: I will give them one last chance, I sent them an email again to see if they would make good. See if things have changed.
How about a list of apps people have removed successfully without issues.

This is definitely true. I have been re-buying this app almost every time I get a new samsung phone (been upgrading every 6 months to S and Note series since the Note 5/7/S7 Edge, so that is at least 10 different devices. I am pretty sure I have re-bought it every time! However I have always used google opinion rewards money so it was basically free for me, now that they only sell the working version on their site I am done with them.
