What are the phones that have compatible audio jack with LG G4? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My audio jack on LG G4 H815 needs a replacement and shipping for replacement jack would take a few weeks so I figured to buy a broken donor phone to get it from. While looking through phones I have noticed that some LG phones from similar period are cheaper than G4 which got me thinking if their audio jacks are compatible with it.
The ones I'm particularly interested in are LG G4 Stylus and LG G3. The jack of G3 particularly seems to look similar to the one in G4 but does anyone know if these are actually compatible and would work properly?

[Q] LG G3 earphones mic & volume buttons not working

Hi guys,
So I've LG G3 D855 with lollipop and i am experiencing a weird problem. I'm using the original earphones that came with the phone but on the earphones the volume buttons, the mid button & the mic as well have all stopped working. I can listen to music using my headphones but I can't speak using my earphones on call as it's mic is not working, I can't change track, can't even raise or lower the volume using earphones buttons.
I am new to this forum. I did search about the problem first but couldn't find an answer here. Anyone knows how to fix it? My phone is not rooted and the problem was there before upgrading it to lollipop too.
Thanks
Anyone? Anything ?
same problem here.
but i found out the the earphones of my Samsung S3 work just fine on the G3 and also the LG earphones work fine on my Samsung Tab S!
So it seems to be a problem with only the original LG earphones on the G3 alltough they are displayed/recognised on the G3 as a headset.

In my case the LG earphones are working with other devices but any other earphone not working on my LG G3. By "not working" I mean the mic, the volume up/down buttons are not working but the sound from earphones is OK (It is OK in case of LG's own earphones too)
Any idea whats going on? and how to solve this irritating issue..
earphone remote troubles
Hi, I wish i had the answer to this but unfortunately, im just another one with a similar situation. First off, I have a sprint LS990 and didnt get any headphones when i bought it back in August 2014 but had a samsung windows phone before my g3, which i had 2 sets of the white HTC earbuds with remotes/mics that i got from nomorerack.com on sale. Anyway, the volume buttons, middle button(pause/skip), and mic all worked perfectly on that phone (Ativ S Neo). When i used em for my g3 though, on stock rom, cloudy 1.2, and BarRin, all the buttons except vol. down worked no matter what i tried. With Lollipop now though, I'm running Barepop rom currently, and all of a sudden the down volume button actually works in addition to all the others. So im just stumped and trying to find out anything that anyone might know about the issue or a fix for it even so i can revert back to my trusty KitKat. Hopefully someone comes across this thread thats got some insight into the headphone issue of the G3.
In the meantime, thanks dev's, for all the great stuff on this website.
Same problem in my G3
I am trying all the earphones ( Samsung,LG,MI,Soundmagic) but nothing is working, the only solution I found is bluetooth earphones. Any other solution ? Bluetooth headsets don't come cheap when you try to find equal quality of your 10$ earphones.
Same problem here.
I tried an Apple headset and Klipsch Image S2a, both works perfect (mic + buttons) with my G Pro 2, but not my G3.
Did anybody try to get it fixed under warranty?

Anyone replace the headphone jack - where did you get replacement part?

Anyone replace their headphone jack, and if so, where did you get the replacement from?
Apparently the G4 has an awesome setup where the jack is not soldered down, but instead uses spring-loaded contacts on a headphone jack module, so you can swap it out very easily.
My phone sometime mis-identifies a headphone as a mic+headset and immediately launches the LG voice recognition app. Pretty annoying. I think it's a hardware issue with the jack acting up, and want to swap out a new one.
Hello KingFatty, exactly, LG G4 earphone jack or even the whole device is easily to swap out. One of the reason I love to repair LG G series devices is that they're easily to take apart and reassemble. BTW, you can find the g4 earphone jack replacement here: http://www.etradesupply.com/lg-g4-vs986-earphone-jack.html

Hi KingFatty, did you figure out if swapping the audio jack solved your issue? I'm having the same problem (mis-identifying a mic+headset, or even not identifying anything at all), but I was curious about your experience before touching the hardware.

Headphone noise was fixed yet?

Hello.
Right now i have G Flex 2 but i have chance to replace it for LG G3, homever i was reading that G3 has some issues with audio quality through headphones, like some noise/crackling especially in left channel. This would be extremely annoying because im listening to lots of stuff on phone like audiobooks, music etc. (it was the prime reason i sold my last phone which had same issue)
I know there are some "fixes" with installing CM12 and editing some audio stuff in System but that didnt work for everyone AFAIK.
Can anyone confirm if this issue still exists, like it may be hardware thing?
G Flex 2 has perfect crystal clear audio and im happy with it, homever it has other issues like grainy screen thats why im considering replacing.
Edit:

Hello, i can confirm that the problem it's still a thing even on the lastest update (30b) on my D855. I suggest you to stay with the flex 2, i think it's a very good phone, no reason to change to the g3.

Stock 6.0 still present. Is not really too xtream, is just a little sound that u can hear when the audio is in a soft part, is like a white noise backgroud.
Detachable headphones is the only fix that work 4 me, just plug first the cable w/o the phones atached to the other side n u can see a diferent icon in the status bar like a cable icon n then just plug the headphones in the other part of the cable.

Headphone jack broken - Is an USB DAC + OTG Cable possible? (spotify, netflix, etc)

Hello guys,
I was a happy owner of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera (aka Redmi Note 5 pro) for the past year, until now, when inexplicably my headphone jack stopped working (I should notice I'm usually extremely careful with my phone and nothing happened that justifies this besides normal use). I tested the headphones on other sources and they work perfectly.
My phone carrier refused to fix it with the warranty and demands an absurd fix price. I thought about ordering the connector board but I'm afraid that those 3rd party boards are just bad quality and will not last long (tried to do it on my Redmi Note 2 and two of the replacement boards broke soon after use...).
I might also ask those nonofficial repair shops but again I'm afraid that the end result will be worse than it is now...
So my question is: if I buy a USB DAC (in this case I'm thinking about the 20€ Sound Blaster PLAY!3), and connect it to the phone micro-USB port with an OTG cable will it work? Because this would be cheaper than actually fixing the headphone jack.
Also, I heard that on some software it might not work, I would buy it with the intent of using it for Spotify, Youtube and Neftlix.
Ps: I actually have a really good pair of headphones from Audio Technica so actually the sound quality boost would be welcome...
Thank you for your attention, Cheers
DACs are working fine for me Soundblaster G5 and G3 tho you can't control them like you can on PC. G3 is useless cause can't adjust gain and default is not loud enough... EQ on viper is working fine.
It's probably better to just buy a replacement board, I replaced my battery and it's just fine. It's possible that they have same sources for those boards as do sellers in AliExpress etc.

Lg G8 Audio Experience

i've had lg phones since the G5. currently i have the G6 and im going to get the G8 but i was wondering if anybody had any wired headset recommendations for the G8.
I know most people dont like LG but they have the best audio listening experience and manual camera capabilities and im a heavy user of those features but audio is my main focus so any recommendations?
What is your price range? I'm a broke budding audiophile, so I don't have any experience with anything high end. I have the Koss KPH30i's and they sound excellent on the G8. Only problem is they are on ear and aren't comfortable for long sessions. For iem's I just got the Blon 03's and I am also loving them. The G8 has a really solid DAC but the amp is hit and miss. I got a pair of audioquest nightowl's at an estate sale and I found the G8 couldn't quite drive them loud enough so I sold them. Point is you might need an amp for more sensitive headphones.
I am also using Qobuz right now since it went down to $15 and the hi-res tracks sound incredible to me with those two headphones.
