Android 10 Home Gesture Button. - Samsung Galaxy A70 Questions & Answers

How does one go about removing the grey/white strip background on the home gesture button?? I'd like to have the button but without the white background.
The only solution so far I've come across is using "immersive gestures", which is a Magical module. This requires rooting, though this may be a viable solution I'm looking for another solution which may help me avoid flashing my phone and having to start all over.

Thank you for your reply but I don't think you understood my query. I already know how to remove the gesture hints, but I don't want to remove it. I want to remove the background strip behind the gesture.

In my case it removes the strip, but I'm not sure if there's another way. Maybe somebody else will know.

Thank you, let's wait and see if someone has a solution, if not then I hope the upcoming android 11 will be better than the flawed android 10.

[Q] large back button on nav bar

So I really want to mod the Nav Bar (forcing menu button to show, changing size, etc) but I only found a way only by enabling nav bar mods in GravityBox or Xblast tools. But when I do that, the back button on the Nav Bar becomes unusually large compared to other buttons. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? If you need a screenshot I'll upload one.
Thanks in advance.
Apparently I'm not alone on that - I'm running ViperOne and the same thing happened when i wanted to do some color-modding. I gave up on it and shrank it and it evened out - I went to 65% originally, but now am at 55%. Not sure where the line is, but if you shrink it, it will even up with the other two eventually.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have even tried using SoftkeyZ but when I do that it does the opposite and shrinks the back button to the point it looks ridiculous.

I would love to find a solution to this as well. Don't like having to downsize the nav bar to make them even.

Thanks for the tip! I use GravityBox for its handy Navigation Ring mods. Can Dynamic Navbar modify the Nav Ring and/or work with GravityBox when it is modifying the Nav Ring? Also, is this safe allowing blanket permissions without seeing the source code? Sorry, I'm not a dev, curious what more informed people know about this…

I just went ahead and tried this. Didn't work for me. When I opened Ultimate Dynamic Navbar, most of the options were unreadable—they just had an ellipsis, the last one or two words of the option description, and then perhaps a checkbox. You couldn't read it. I tried it in both portrait and landscape, always with GravityBox disabled and after a full reboot. Doesn't seem to work correctly on m8 for whatever reason.

Again I'm not a dev, but I wonder if this—implemented in the mod—would fix it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452822. I'll post this in the GravityBox thread I guess…
Have you tried seeing how you can customize it with [MOD][Xposed] Xtended NavBar ?
It fairly new though, status still shows as testing...Looks interesting nontheless.

Gestures instead of navigation bar on OP5T

Hi.
Got my OP5T 4 days back..
Does anyone in the forum know if we can use only gestures instead of virtual navigation buttons like iPhone x..coz I hate how it consumes space at the bottom..
Previously I was using all in one gestures to control my volume in OP3.
Thanks,
Shyam

I would love if it had the same gestures as the iPhone X.
All in one gesture, and if u go down to the themes and apps portion of this forum there is a post that shows u how to hide the navigation bar
Dunno if this is what you're looking for, but on my previous device I used the app "J Touch" from the Play Store as my navbar replacement+. Haven't got my 5T yet, but i intend to load it up immediately as I, too, dislike losing that precious real estate.
Using All In One Gesture and disabled the nav bar using Substratum's Navbar Height Changer theme (requires root).
Works like a charm. No more hitting the home button when missing the keyboard space bar!

I'm doing the same but it breaks the power menu I've found. It does a soft reset instead of bringing up my reboot options. At least I think that's what's happened.

Same here, but I installed the Reboot app to fix this.
Thanks guys! I hid my navbar, and installed All in one gestures. This is nice
I use swipe navigation for gestures. But I cannot for now hide the navigation bar permanently. For infos, I'm not rooted.

How is it?
It won't launch without the location permission for advertising purposes.
I'm now running xposed to disable the navbar, but of course that triggers safetynet...
I'd really appreciate if someone could help finding a way to disable the navbar without xposed and the reboot breaking subtratum theme I would be extremely grateful!

Gravitybox!
In 'navigation bar tweaks' turn on the master switch and then turn 'enable navigation bar' off.
It should work fine after a reboot!

No problem, you can follow my tutorial if you want to do this without xposed / tripping safety net:

I combined 0 nav bar height with LMT https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
and swipe navigation https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation&hl=en
You can also bind navigation actions like back, home, recent to an edge menu like Swiftly Switch. (no root or xposed required) Though you do have to enable permissions like drawing over other applications.
All of these solutions seem kinda messy and require rooting. Is there no clean way to do this without modding my phone?

Nitpicky observations

Loving this phone so far, but there are a couple things bothering me. The first is no double tap recent button to bring up last used app. Why is this not in OOS? I use that all the time and it's not there.
Second is nav bar color and style. Anyone able to get a subatratum nav bar theme to stick? Why is the default background white with no way to change it?
Anyway have tricks to solve these little annoyances? What are your picky criticisms of the OP5t so far?

I'm pretty sure the double tap for recent apps is suppose to be on there. Have you checked the settings as you can set actions for each button
The best way around that is to use an app called navbar apps. You can set I to change colour occording to the app or set a solid colour

You have to set it to "no action". This will set the default action which is the most recent app.
Tested double tap recent and it works.
Oh wow, so no action actually has an action. Genius. Thanks for the help
Yeah, I think that double-tap on the multi-task key bringing up the last app has been part of Android for some time now. I could be mistaken.

[Root] - How to remove Navigation and Status bars?

Hi y'all,
I want to remove navigation bar and status bar completely.... even when keyboard is in use. Is there a way to do it? (I do want them to show up when I swipe up/down navigation bar and status bar respectively).
I was looking at https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/themes/mod-navbar-gone-root-t3704916 Does this achieve what I want to do with 8.1 January Update on P2? I want to avoid installing apps as much as possible.
Thank you

My method removes Navbar completely. No swiping is going to get it back. You want immersive mode I would think.
Hey, thanks for the info. How do I take the back/home/recently opened apps actions in this case? Also, does it remove status bar too or is it just for navigation bar?

If you remove Navbar completely you need LMT or something similar to replace it. It is for Navbar only. Immersive mode can be used with either or both statusbar and Navbar.
Thanks. Yea, I think I'll try immersive mode and see if it works for both and can use swipe up/down to temporarily bring it back. Looking at https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guide-hide-navigation-bar-status-bar-app-t3509747 Let's see.

That's what I did and am using now. I think it's awesome. But I think, not sure, it might have given me issues with unlocking my screen every once in a while when it goes into sleep. I say I think, cuz I'm not willing to give up immersive mode for a reboot or now as I've found bringing up camera to wake up every now and then. So just be on the look out. Thought it might be Ex kernel also I did both around same time.

[Q] Back button remover?

Hello,
I am just wondering if there is an option available, that would hide the back button while using the P (Pill) navigation on the Pie.. I'm asking mostly because of cosmetic standpoint.. For apps like Nova Launcher etc.. I love the functionality of the Pill, but because the back button always there, my OCD won't let me use anything else than stock launcher.
By the way, I saw the feature in some Pixel 3 XL ROM, on their forum (at least I think I did saw it..) That enables the Pill to swipe right to go back (as it should be by default by Google) If anyone has any idea or suggestions I would really appreciate it.
Maybe installing Nova Launcher as a system app would work?
I use custom navigation bar app to hide the nav bar all together and have it set up to only pop up when I swipe up on the navbar area. It then goes away a few seconds later.

I'm not sure if you can get rid of the back button but why don't you give the Fluid Navigation Gesture app a try. By using it you can completely get rid of the navigation bar and use only swipes from the bottom and/or edge of the screen to navigate. You can also set up all the actions you want to be present when you swipe up or swipe up and hold etc... Give it a try, a very useful app. ??
Thanks, I will try it!

My system is rooted and FNG has root access granted, but I think it should work without root as well. Give it a try. ?
Look at my screenshot. I have 2 back buttons with the pill. The symitry helps my cdo and having 2 back buttons is convenient.
If i remember correctly, it's done through adb shell. Let me try and find the thread...
Edit: this is the thread i used to give me the 2 back buttons.
