I have a U.S. image but its prior to 8.0. You could always use it and update to 8.0 in the player. Warning though, I am having an issue on my 2015 pro that when I update from 8.0 to 8.0.2 it "breaks" the shield. Not sure why yet. I can re-flash to my back up image and it works fine all the way to 8.0. I just can't go to 8.0.2 without it breaking.

hello
In the last update to 8.2, my shield has also died, I think this is because I have an SSD and not the original HDD. What I don't understand is why it has worked so far without problems, maybe it lacks a driver?
I have tried to enter fastboot to put a previous image of recovery, but the image lasts less than 1s and it turns off, I can't do anything.
markdonnell1975 would be good if you upload that image, so at least we could use our shield as before, that I was doing very well, until a solution to the problem is found, even that mine is European, maybe there is no inconvenience, everything would be to try.
Sorry for my English, I used the translator

[Q] Downgrade Surface RT from final 8.1

Is it possible to downgrade my Surface RT from the final version of Windows RT (downloaded from store) to 8.0? I have searched all over the internet and all the results are instructions for 8.1 Preview.
I also would like to know if I go into the recovery (which is on the device's internal drive) and select reset, will I be restored back to 8.0 or will I be restored to 8.1? What I am guessing is download the recovery image and restore from that?
If the device came with 8.0, it *should* "recover" to 8.0, yes.
Generally speaking, all the instructions for "downgrading" (in quotes because I consider the anti-jailbreak bull**** in 8.1 to be a downgrade) from the preview should still work.
I've done the downgrade with my Surface RT after upgrading to 8.1 final via Windows Store, then found someone was hosting a mirror of the US RT8.0 recovery image since MS pulled it from their website.
Works fine. Same instructions as preview to 8.1 restore, just ignore the fact it says you're restoring back to 8.1. It'll install 8.0.
Thanks for the help! So, just to clarify, if I restore from the built-in recovery options it will go back to 8.0?
Not sure. I naively deleted my downgrade restore data so I was forced to use the EN-US RT 8.0 recovery image (I use an EN-AU Surface RT).

It's worth a shot but sadly, I don't think so.
Yesterday I restored my surface running 8.1 final from the store from the recovery partition and it loaded 8.1
I got around this by using a backup of the recovery partition I made when I first got my surface. This worked fine.
Microsoft used to offer the 8.0 image at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40810, but now you'd have to look around XDA to find one.
You might want to send a PM to http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=513544, as he has some recovery images.
I'd sent you mine, but with my internet speed it wold take a week to upload.
If you need to download the recovery, use the Wayback machine on the Microsoft download page.
Click the October 22 one.

Gotta thank Nvidia for the quick updates.
Seriously The Shield TV 2015 was a great investment since I got it on May 2016. I just added the newer controller and it's running great.
Just waiting for Oreo.

Thanks for the heads up!
At last they fixed the user and pass system to download the dev images.
I uploaded the dev images to MEGA, direct links:

No problem at all. Have you upgraded yet and if you did which method did you use? I used FlashFire to upgrade from 5.2 to 6.1. and that worked great so I assume this time will be the same. Assuming you used FlashFire, after hitting the +, flash firmware package and selecting the 6.2 upgrade did you leave all 4 of the boxes in the Partitions window that pops up afterwards (Boot, Recovery, System, Vender) checked or do you have to uncheck one of them before flashing it?

Yeah I flashed earlier without any problems as well. Just left everything checked and FireFlash took care of the rest like a champ.

Okay, so you're rooted and flashed it with the default settings using Flashfire and not data? I tried that last time and something went wrong. I'm rooted, have busybox, adblock, once had TWRP a few updates ago, converted Plex to user app. could any of these steps had caused any problems?

Yes I'm rooted on a 2015 16gb Shield and yes I flashed with the default settings, didn't change anything at all. I left everything checked then flashed. Their were only 4 things that popped up in a small window called Partition after I clicked the plus sign, clicked " flash firmware package" then selected the ota zip and they were "Boot, Recovery, System and Vender", their wasn't even a data box in the list. Also I used Fireflash version 0.73, I believe that's the latest version needed to flash.

OTA update A3 (2017) december 2019 - experiences?

A new OTA update is available for the A3 (2017). Version A320FLxxx5CSK1, security patch level 1 november 2019.
Has anyone installed it? Any (bad? unexpected?) experiences?
I installed the Ota for galaxy A7 2017 and it crashed my 4G network.
I just received this:
Will let you know if I find anything (hopefully Bluetooth crash is finally fixed).

The system got a little bit faster, and around 600 MB of system files have been REMOVED, so I have gained that much free storage. Not sure which apps were affected, but so far so good.
Works ok, did not notice any differences yet.
However, I am unable to root this one.
Firmware A320FXXS5CSK1.
TWRP recovery has no issues installing (twrp-3.3.1-0-a3y17lte.img, using Odin 3.14), and boots up as expected.
CF autoroot says root unavailable.
Magisk causes only a boot-loop.

Nvidia Shield TV 2015 (16GB) - Brick after upgrade to 8.0.1 Dev Image

Hello,
I tried to flash the dev image 8.0.1 nv-recovery-image-shield-atv-8.0.1-dev_rooted from nvidia site and now im stuck in boot loop (nvidia logo then white screen and reboot).
I tried getting into fastboot, I see the fastboot screen for a moment, I can navigate to it for a moment and then the device powers-off. Any idea whats going on?
hey, anyone has an idea on what do to from here? Is there a way to boot into something like an sdcard or usb?

I was on 6.3 and blocked updates cause I liked the layout better. Then I think in November Netflix wouldnt work unless you were on 8.0.1 or higher. I never got around updating it because I didnt want to go through the hassle of flashing it again. Last week I finally got the time to do both my 16gb and my pro 500gb and flashed the 16gb image to the pro. Bricked. Contacted Nvidia customer support and said I was on 6.3 and pressed the update option and after that it wasnt working. It would light up green but say no input on the tv. They wanted receipts and all that and I said I got it at launch in 2015 at best buy with cash and just wanted to pay them to reflash it. They just offered to replace it. My 16gb works fine, got the replacement pro Wednesday and updated it to 8.0.2. Netflix is still not working on this one so they are going to send another replacement.
If it says APX mode in device manager in Windows, its bricked. Nothing you can do. I would suggest contacting customer service, tell them you saw notification to update and downloaded it but after install its not working anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that. Actually, i display manager cannot get it because once it loads fastboot, it works for 4-5 seconds and reboots.
Btw, how did you contact support?

Shield Pro (2015) can't update from 8.0 to 8.0.2 without bricking, need help.

Just like the title says. I have a 2015 Shield pro. I have an image of my drive from an earlier version. I can go through the initial setup without issue. I can update to 8.0 and everything is fine. Once it downloads and attempts to install 8.0.2 it runs the update then the shield just turns off and when I hit the power button it turns on for 1-2 seconds then turns off again. Power cycle does the same thing. No bueno. I can burn the previous image on the drive and it all works as it should and updates to 8.0 without issue, then 8.0.2 breaks it. Is there any way to accomplish this?
thanks!!!!!
Hi,
I have the same problem, my SSD 2015 shield died when I upgraded to 8.2
I could share your backup, we can talk by MP, so I can dump it to my SSD to see if I can upgrade correctly to 8.2, if this works, I could send it back
I would change before the videwine to not have problems with Netflix and others
Regards
